I visited last year and the food was ok but overpriced. Personally the beef tasted like choice. And then someone also told me that the owners are secretly funding Trump s campaign and they haven t said a word about Trump trying to steal the election. I know, I thought this was an all American restaurant.

Who shuts their doors at 7pm on a Sunday for a staff meeting? This is the second time we have gone there to eat dinner and they have either been closed or it's been an hour wait! Unfortunatly the food is very good maybe next time we can actually eat there instead of going elsewhere!

We went for the first time Thursday night and loved it! From the drinks and appetizers, to the perfectly cooked steaks and the amazing creme brulee! The service was great as well! We can't wait to come back and try more things! If you haven't tried it, you should!

Ordered the special, a monster 26oz sirloin steak. Hands down the best steak I have ever had, cooked rare to perfection. The steak came with sauteed mushrooms, fried onions strings, and mashed potatoes. The Bloody Mary was also very good, served with a beef stick, olives, and pickle. I highly recommend everyone to eat here. Slightly expensive buy again it is a steakhouse.

From the moment I walked in the door - I knew this place is special. It's a steak joint, right? But the character - the steak - the experience? You'll love Jayme, she and the other folks there create a fun, and down to earth experience. I saw it on the faces of many folks in the restaurant .. it isn't just the food, its the atmosphere and the feeling of getting away from the everyday. You work hard .. just go. I did, and I'll do it again, and again.

Rachel was our wonderful server for the night! Best service I've ever had anywhere! Food was good, beer was good, but service was outstanding! Angelica another server was very friendly and went out of her way to help put my 18 month son in a better mood! Thanks girls for a wonderful birthday dinner!

Wonderful service and delicious steak here. Location was smaller than I thought, reservations are recommended. I had the petite filet Oscar style and it was very good. Nice location near the river.

We went to Merrill & Houston for our 51st wedding anniversary. We had a glass of champagne, soup, salad, steak and potatoes au gratin. Everything was delicious and the steak melted in our mouths. Amy gave us excellent service.

Our steak dinner for our 13th wedding anniversary last night was EXCELLENT! Our steak entree, salad, rolls and dessert was satisfyingly delicious and a welcomed treat during shut down due to COVID-19. Curbside ordering was easy, our meal was awesome and service was very good. Thank you!

This place has it all! Casual blue jeans to a romantic evening for two love birds celebrating our anniversary! The atmosphere is relaxed yet very personal & classy! From the minute we walked in the door we felt like we were the only people that mattered! Hostess, & bartender were very pleasant and attentive! We picked our own table thanks to our gracious hostess who wanted to be sure his was the one! Our Server Rachel then took us on an amazing journey! She eloquently described the amazing appetizers & entrees. We chose the delicious coconut shrimp appetizer, mouth watering prime rib & delicious salmon. Everything was cooked expertly & truly one of the best meals we have had in the area. The service from Rachel was beyond our expectations along with very well trained bussing staff. This is big city steak house with small town hospitality! After our meal and delicious lemon berry cake for dessert, Rachel offered to take our photo outside with the amazing backdrop of the river. Merrill & Houston s & Rachel your get a 10 from us, Rachel you made our evening special & memoriable! Thank you very much!

Continues to provide great food, drink and atmosphere. The community is lucky To have M&H, as well as several other wonderful options in the rejuvenated downtown. You will not be disappointed!

Confused about how to rate them. My girlfriend and I came here for our anniversary. My steak was cooked to perfection but I'm pretty sure the tasteless mashed potatoes were from a box and microwaved based on the consistency as well as having disappointing canned mushrooms for my steak. The waiter disregarded us from the start and took 15 minutes to come greet us. When he finally did we were given 10 seconds to give him our drink order and he refused to let us ask any questions about appetizers since our 10 seconds had passed. This trend of him rushing, not caring, and forgetting items continued for the whole night. To our happy surprise someone who I think may have been a manger randomly congratulated us on our anniversary and gave us some complimentary champagne. All in all I'd say the problem I have with this restaurant is their inconsistency in their service and cooking. Not sure if we will come back.

Excellent all around! We come here quite often and always have a great dinner! Steaks are great, but my personal favorite is the Duck A L'Orange! The service is always exceptional. It is even nice just stop by for a cocktail at the bar. Greatest place for an upscale dinner in Janesville or Beloit while not being overly formal. Make sure to try the Coconut Shrimp as an appetizer.

Okay Food - Wait Staff Needs Training. For a $35 steak, I expect to get a fresh butter knife when they remove my salad. I expect my oil lantern on my table to be alight at 8 pm. I expect the waitress to know the answer to the question, is the fish flown in each day, or is it frozen? And I expect her not to come back later, when I'm eating my steak, to tell me in an uppity manner that - oh, she asked, and the fish is flown in daily. Wow. Thanks for that - AFTER I ordered. And with attitude. By the way, the steak was extra salty, the broccoli was cold, and the side salad was okay. Will not be back. I know wait staff is hard to keep, and it's hard to train people, but if you insist on charging 3 to 5 star prices, you need to provide the same level of service.

My steak was delicious, lots the flavor. The garlic mashed potatoes could have used some butter and the salad did not have any cheese.... I thought this was Wisconsin. I didn't really care for the atmosphere, there was a wedding party there and they were extremely loud at the bar. I could hardly hear my family talk or the waitress

I've been up here 4 times now, an every time is an incredible experience. The food is cooked to perfection, the drinks are outstanding, and the servers quick and attentive. My top choice for a steakhouse in the area!

The food was outstanding. Walk in alone or with a party of people, any and all are welcome to eat. Casual or formal wear is your choice. The steak that I ate was a Cowboy and i must say it was over the top and delicious ( cooked to medium ). There is bar seating as well with great bar service and custom drinks. A place that u must try once and or a few times.

I am really upset with this place. We made reservations for 7:15 tonight and at 7:40 we still hadn't been seated. We were the 4th group asking what was the point in making reservations if you still had to wait 45 minutes. The hostess told us they double book the tables and the manager told us that people are taking 2 hours to leave. She barely apologized and didn't offer any sort of timeline. They said there were at least 4 tables ahead of us still at 7:45. We left. I am not waiting around for more terrible service like that.

The steaks were fine, but nothing more than I would expect from a good quality steakhouse. However, the service was rather inattentive. The server took our food order and brought the dinners, but those were the only times she stopped at our table. Our water glasses were empty most of that time.

Warm, lowlight atmosphere with hardwood and ironworks theme complimented by local historic photos. The layout was fairly open so as to not feel pressed together with other guests. The staff was accomodating, no drink left empty or finished plate uncollected promptly. This was an entirely enjoyable experience.
