Modest and charming. They love sea creatures over there, I tell ya. Take the kids. Cabrillo is not the shmancy-est locale if ya know what i mean. Lock your car doors and try to look broke. You'll be fine.

Best-ever place to take children to touch creatures from tide pools.
For the adventuresome, check your online tide tables for San Pedro, CA, and go to real tide pools at low tide! You ll see urchins, anemones, maybe a sea hare, or an abalone if you re lucky!
Must-see. They ask for donations at the door $5 Adult, $1 Children. If you don t have money, go anyway! It improves the quality of life, if you have the good fortune to share Nature s bounty with a child. Their amazement is the gift that keeps on giving, beyond diamonds and jewels, Life s true riches for you.

This free (donations appreciated) aquarium is a thoughtfully designed place of exploitation, geared towards young people. There is also much to impress the adults with many very well done exhibits. Perfect for the whole family. We actually enjoyed this more than the typical mega-Disney-esque aquarium.

Even though it's a small aquarium/museum, I really enjoyed visiting it. Lots of information about the ocean & it's ecosystem. Many amazing sea creatures there, I loved the baby sharks still in their egg sacks (incubators) great view of all the creatures, looks like they are being very well taken care of. The employees were nice & informative. I'd recommend this place to others :)

While in the area for LAs first ever Fleet Week, we wanted to visit the Aquarium. Unfortunately, on Labor Day weekend, parking rates were $9.00 (usually, one can pay by the hour). Added to admission, it wasn't worth it. Not a very friendly welcome to San Pedro.

As far as free things to do it is an amazing experience. You're allowed to learn and experience local sea life. Very wide variety of animals also! The place does seem pretty run down but I guess that's what happens when it runs off donations. Definitely a good place to take the kids or a date.

I love everything about this place, even though they're extremely underfunded. The only thing I'd improve is to have then emphasize the importance for people not to come out in droves with coolers and buckets on grunion nights when it's illegal to catch them. I'd recommend working with Fish and Wildlife to enforce the rules and ticket offenders. Also, I'd recommend hosting regular beach clean ups until it no longer looks like a dump and reminding people not to burn plastic or ban having fires if they continue to do so.

Such a great educational aquarium. You can visit for free or donate $7 for adults (as of Jan. 2, 2020) It's small but full of information about marine life and the aquatic environment. They have an activity center, touch exhibit as well as an aquatic life nursery you can visit.

It's a fun and educational place to see, touch, and learn about a plethora of marine life. Suggested donations are $5 for adults and $1 for children. Parking is $1 per hour, or $9 for the day. My favorite time to go is during low tide when I can walk about the tide pools.

Always a great place to visit. They have talks every month with experts from around the world, and are very informative regarding the marine life in our Oceans. This is a great place for kids and adults.

Awesome aquarium. Make sure you go when you can go to the tide pools too with one of the aquarium guides. We saw so many awesome things, and the guide was so informative and found things in the tide pools the kids could touch. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars!!

Great aquarium. They have a touch pond that you can visit. The pond is on a time schedule and is open different times throughout the day. This place is just the right size. Compared to the aquarium of the Pacific, this place offers just as much as the other aquarium. The differences between the two are price and this aquarium does not have a huge fish tank. I think this is a great place to take your kids. The aquarium does not charge a fee to visit but does suggest a donation. The fee for parking is $1 an hour and you only need about that much time. And there is plenty of parking. If you want to avoid crowds and save money consider this place.
