Really liked this Aquarium! Smaller but lots of great exhibits! Loved the octopus and sea horses.
Really liked this Aquarium! Smaller but lots of great exhibits! Loved the octopus and sea horses.
Lots of cool stuff to see. Tanks with all kinds of sea life and information about them. There is a 'lab' area that shows how research is being done. There is also a touch tank full of sea life and plants that is a little of fun for kids.
Loved this place! We went as a troop to do a tide pool clean up and we were allowed into the aquarium. Oh my gosh! So much fun and very informative. I would highly recommend it for all ages!
The marine aquarium is free. Despite being small, it goes into depth about southern California's marine life and has numerous examples of living sea creatures. It also houses a number of marine scientists and allows the public access to certain laboratory areas. Donations are welcome.
Nice place to take the kids. Go during low tide if you want to see the tide pools
Great staff .. lots for kids to see learn and interact with animals
I love an aquarium. I appreciate the low entry fee, but CMA ought to charge at least 3 times the "optional" donation of $5. It's worth the price, and it could use some updates inside. Great gift shop too.
It's really nice, pretty chill place to come with the family. Many things to do, see and explore.
Great little spot for the kids. Nice exhibits, good scale for kids, informative and affordable. A hidden gem.
Their. Small but in Their. Small but in Informative. Donation based
It was cute, went with my sons school but it s pretty small for what they charge. The Seal
Performance was adorable though...
LOVE this aquarium!! It is so good! Really informative, interesting, and the perfect size. They have some live fish, sea urchins, jellyfish, an octopus and eel, and more plus some stuffed creatures like birds, sharks, deep sea fish, etc. I learned a lot and was impressed by this place. Very nice employees too!
Free admission but a donation is recommended. Parking is $1 per hour and there's a huge lot.
I love everything about this place, even though they're extremely underfunded. The only thing I'd improve is to have then emphasize the importance for people not to come out in droves with coolers and buckets on grunion nights when it's illegal to catch them. I'd recommend working with Fish and Wildlife to enforce the rules and ticket offenders. Also, I'd recommend hosting regular beach clean ups until it no longer looks like a dump and reminding people not to burn plastic or ban having fires if they continue to do so.
Small but fun... Great place to take the little ones enough to keep them entertained with out the prices of aquarium of the Pacific.
Great little aquarium. Also great for educational resource
Not as nice looking as the nearby Aquarium of the Pacific but this place definitely feels more education oriented. A good day trip location for local families, for sure. As a side bonus, there's a beach right next to the parking lot, but one that you might not want to spend too much time in since it's situated right next to the ports.
This aquarium is a wonderful institution. Great diversity of local critters and fun, educational exhibits. Plan ahead to enjoy one of the touch tide pool timeslots scattered throughout the day!
Awesome small aquarium with lots of opportunities for children to learn, explore and touch! Tide pool, science center, puppet/dress up area for the little ones. Plenty of accommodations for small and large groups. Lots of parking (not free), and the gift shop actually has a nicely curated collection of items, not just junky trinkets. Best of all, the staff is sweet and accommodating!
A great, under appreciated local place for an afternoon out.
Though small it's a very informative venue. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable on the species filling their exhibits.
Super fun hiking around. That is until smoke started bellowing from further up ahead. Someone was hiking back from that area and let us know there was a fire there. We packed it in just as the firetrucks were showing up. Now I've got to go back and hike around again so I can see what I missed!
The fish-tival is alot of fun and very informative. The staff is very friendly and happy to answer any questions.
Love taking my kids here. Its small but entertaining for them and they learn by asking questions.
We've visited this aquarium many times. The kids always enjoy it and learn something. Make sure to come during Grunion season.
I do love this place. Anything that has to do with ocean life fascinates me. This aquarium is relatively small, but it's a good size in the city. I really like the tunnels and the mini exhibits. Usually go through a few times and just observe as much as possible. If they still have it available, the pier 39 parking structure has a coupon on the back of the parking ticket which is cool!
Live fish exhibits are limited - but the learning center for kids is extensive and was enjoyed by my boy.
This place should charge for entrance it's way too nice to leave to the generosity of others. I gave 20. Nice exhibits, friendly staff.
Almost the same exhibit from 1989. An extra star for the new floor and free if you don't donate for admission
Totally fun and informative. Great volunteer staff. Absolutely AMAZING for kids!
Amazing beach really great museum all day parking is only 9$
The suggested donation of $5 is very cheap for how well kept the aquarium is.
Wonderful little educational place with a nursery, and interactive exhibits for kids. Recommended donation $5 per adult $1 per kid. Staff is wonderful. Tons of information. Not your typical big aquarium. And more specimens than living exhibits. But still absolutely wonderful. Touch tanks and more. Plus it's right at the beach. Do not miss this little treasure.
This is a nice little aquarium definitely worth checking out
A place for any occasion is very nice and spacious all good
Kids enjoy this place. There is a special pool to touch seafish, anemones and other creatures. The exploration area features observation of marine tissues with microscope.
This aquarium is an absolute gem! If you bear in mind that the admission is essentially free (only a suggested donation), then you won't be disappointed. There is an impressive collection of sea life such as jellies, sea stars, and even small leopard sharks. The layout of the aquarium is spread out over a couple of buildings, but this just makes it fun to explore. I particularly like the fact that active research is being conducted for all to see. Make sure you listen for when they announce that the touch aquarium opens. All in all its highly educational, fun, and very affordable. Parking is super cheap too at 1 dollar per hour as of this writing. This aquarium won't have all the bells and whistles that other, higher budget, aquaria may have, but you won't be paying an arm and a leg either and you'll enjoy yourself just as much. Highly recommended!
Easy parking, playground by the beach, lots of cool stuff , an aquatic nursery and a library!
Awesome place to visit for the family. Great staff! Love the working lab with a smart group of scientists to answer all your questions. What a treat!
One of the best ocean views of the Pacific from Los Angeles! Great to view Catalina Island, too. This location has been used to shoot many parts of films--The Usual Suspects--and commercials. So even if you've never been, you might get the feeling that you have. The Korean bell is great too, they just refurbished it and its in tip-top shape! A great place for family photos!
Very beautiful place. There we saw the lights of the 4th of July
I love this aquarium! Forget the Aquarium of the Pacific. Although it may not be as big as the Pacific one or with as many exhibits, I think this one is just as fun and a heck of a good deal. The admission is by donation (which you should definitely do): $5 for adult, $1 per kiddo. My daughter loves coming here and I'm not spending an arm and a leg to let her experience marine life.
Great place. Pretry cool sea creatures, and the nursery and exploration center in the same plaza make for a great educational day for kids and adults. Staff are friendly. Parking is pretty affordable- $1/hr.
Even though it's a non-profit organization, the staff was friendly & the place was intriguing. Parking how ever, that's a different story. Now there's a machine that takes debit cards but it's easier so much easier to use cash.
Petty cool stuff here! The kids had fun and it didn't cost me a fortune. Win-win!
Educational and hands on! This kid friendly Aquarium is the perfect place to learn about marine life and habitats without being overwhelming! Can't wait to go back!
This is a fun little aquarium for little kids. We had such a great time.
Small though very educational & pretty, it has a beautiful painting at the entrance, kids have a great time here!! Is one of those family things , with a small shop!! A fun place to spend quality time !!!
It's freeeeeee! And the whole aquarium has teaching stuff all over. Great place to understand marine biology.
Not to big or small, enjoyed the hands-on experience
Mid sized aquarium with such a wide variety of marine animals!!! There is so much information and animals to look at, I spent about 2 hours here just looking around! I love that the front of the aquarium is the beach! Like honestly 20 feet from the aquarium is the beach I love this location :) The facility is very clean and well kept, and you can see the aquarium lab where they raise jellyfish and algae There is also a very cute small gift shop with lots of choices and even some handmade stuff too Definitely a place I will be coming back to
Small aquarium, but it's quaint and enjoyable. It's a walk away from the beach as well.
The people there are really nice. The aquarium is really big and I like it. I reccomend this place to everyone who like the ocean and animals.
Educational for all ages, learn about the sea creatures around San Pedro and how to make environment more sustainable
The beach is nice....good place for having good time for families......
Wonderful cozy aquarium, with lots of touch tanks and interactive learning opportunities.
I really liked this place. It was my first time there, and I liked that it's family friendly. It is chill, at least while I was there.
I also liked that the aquarium is right there, and the Battleship Iowa is so close by from the aquarium.
I'm already planning to go back!
I like this Beach so much, is very quiet is perfect for a Bar B-Q and to have a Romantic Date.
So, I went with my daughter's school field trip to Cabrillo. There was learning right on the beach, so awesome. We also hatched Grunions which was so cool. All the kids loved this but I dont know if this is part of a regular visit. This was part of the STEMS program which is new here. The librarian had a read aloud, it was so pleasant.
Educational cheap, great info for the whole family.
Very nice, small aquarium. Great place to bring kids.
They have two side on the beach one with no weaves for the kids and the other is open ocean with weaves..
