We love visiting this aquarium with our 3 and 5 year old and make an obligated stop anytime we are visiting the LA area. The volunteers are beyond knowledgeable and the place is very well kept. It is a small place that you can see in about 45 minutes max. Don t forget to visit the tide pools which are only a few minutes away from the Aquarium. There are Anemones and a huge population of hermit crabs plus beautiful views.

It's a science based educational experience with live & deceased aquatic specimen through out. My son loves it, he finds the preserved creature bodies and hands on areas very interesting. The way they open the touch pool like once every hour creates excitement & fun. There is a playground on the beach near by but it is nearly always windy here. It's donation based & so reasonable. $5 for adults & $1 for kids. You can pay for parking or park near by in the streets.

First time visitor here! We loved it! Wasn't too big for my 2 y/o but big enough that my 13 y/o could have spent hours had we had the time! Very cute little aquarium on a donation entry bases. We plan to go back!

Great info and display of animals. Parts of it were under renovation, so we didn't get to see one room but I'm glad they are making improvements. Great little place to look at some local creatures up close. They also are doing some conservation and restoration to certain declining animal populations. Great job. I really enjoyed my visit.

Fun place to go with the family. You can touch sea anemones, urchins, limpets, and snails. Many cool animals to look at. Nice, calm place to just sit and relax. Next to the aquarium is a small beach. For people who do or don't like seaweed, there is a lot of it.

The aquarium is not big, but it has the largest seahorse I have seen so far. It is very suitable to bring children to the beach here, and then take a look at the aquarium to let them understand the diversity of marine life. And there are some participatory activities in the aquarium, which can let children learn more. So this aquarium is worth recommending!

Not as spectacular as Long Beach's
Aquarium of the Pacific, but it is waay
less expensive. Great for kids & family.
Would rate 4 stars but Cabrillo Beach
is right there with beach & BBQ stands!

Love this small community aquarium and touch pool. Don t miss the discovery center, which is across the walkway from the main building. Lots of fun hands-on artifacts, dress-ups, tunnels to play in and a little library. Marine Biologists and volunteers staff and are very friendly.

I've been wanting to take my toddler to this museum for a couple months because of all the great review. It lived up to all the hype and I couldn't imagine a better museum in the bay area. We loved the exhibits and the spaces were well balanced for younger and older kids. I would highly recommend this for a fun 2-3 hour visit!

For the price of a donation you get a well put together, well staffed, and engaging aquatic experience. I thought the exhibits were comprehensive and thoughtfully curated in a way that showcases the unique habitat of the surrounding area. I would definitely make it a "must sea" if you are in the area (great for kids).

Great wholesome family fun weather a school field trip or a family day or even a normal stroll walk through the beach. It wasn't crowded at all mind you I did get here at 9 a.m. Beach was kept nice and clean no homeless in plain sight. A dollar-an-hour not bad of a rate or a weekday

Love this place, right next to the beach. It's free and $5 (suggested donation). They have a touch tank but not open all the time. You can check its' schedules at the kiosk. I think they do care about the sea creatures they have. There is a sign to remind people not to poke the fishes because it can cause them headache. A staff explained that touch tank cannot open all the time because the sea creatures in there need time to rest and refresh.
The aquarium is small so it won't take long to discover and then you can take a walk at the beach or let the kids have fun at playground.
