Lovely old venue with fabulous features in the theatre, however, the place was boiling tonight as they had the hearing on full which was unbearable. Also, toilets are horrendous there is no way near sufficient and causes huge queues and difficulties in getting around due to walkways being blocked.

I m a sucker for historic buildings and especially ones that have a duel purpose (in this one being opera/ musicals). I have to my shame only ever frequented this building to watch the Derby G&S society (something inbuilt by my father for the last 39 years).

The building is glorious, it stands like a beacon for the town all tall and shiny. It s never succumbed to modernising or poor choices, instead remains as it was all those years a go, just a brilliant opera house.

It s like an old football ground in that some seats are better than others, you ll need to be guided by the online booking system or call ahead to avoid being placed too high up or have your vision blocked by a pillar or two.

Seats tend to be tightly packed together, more a nod to how people used to be (weight wise) over making money! But its a true experience to behold in a beautiful town. My only gripe is that it can become hot whilst watching the shows so dress accordingly and you ll enjoy as much as I do.

The town has plenty of good eateries, so I d recommend that you arrive early and enjoy the historic town and treat yourself to dinner before the show.

If this was rebuilt today it simply wouldn t be allowed to offer this one off experience, take my advice and get yourself booked into a show today! Highly recommend.

Intimate venue, very efficient staff , soft seating not plastic so very comfortable. Parking close by and a pub just across the road to have a drink and something to eat before going to the show. Had an amazing time.

Buxton is a very nice place. Attended concert in the octagon. Peculiar place but for live orchestra (classical) which do not require sound system, it is a great place. Use of sound system leads to echo

Small but extravagant restored opera house in a small peak district town. It is astonishing a niche has been created for world class opera and dance as well as top contemporary music. Even if you don't like the show of the night it's worth it for the building!

I love going to Buxton Opera house for gigs, the seating arrangement means you always get a good view regardless of the size of the person in front. Acoustics are good and the interior is well looked after. A special mention is deserved for the staff. Usually they are more mature than other places i go and with that maturity come the most pleasant people you can meet. Always a smile, always polite and always very helpful. For me Buxton Opera house Staff are the bench mark for everywhere else i go in this country.
