Buxton Opera House Review

A magnificent Edwardian opera house, beautifully restored. Mainly staffed by caring volunteers. We saw a wonderful ballet from an outstanding Russia company. Highly recommended!

first time visit . love it beautiful theatre sound was great. We watch The Little Matchgirl credit to the crew great piece of theatre well play out great performance.

Beautiful, beautiful building, but uncomfortable seats if you're a 'chunkster' like me . Fantastic people and location. We love this place and it's location. You really feel like you've been somewhere special when you visit.

One of the most Beautiful historical Opera houses in the country, and definitely breathes life into buxton. Very popular with the public and has its fare share of Celebrities who also sing its praises

Went for an 80s Tribute Night - brilliant night. Absolutely sold out. Everyone dancing in the aisles. Could do with a fresh lick of paint in my opinion, but only being picky. Will definitely go again.

Lovely old world theatre with a Victorian music hall atmosphere. Go before it's gone.

First time at the opera house, fantastic place, very quaint, like many if these places, well preserved worth a visit just to look at the decor

Really shouldn't offer seats in a box that has limited view.
Lovely place though

A great old venue with some superb acts. The seating can give away the age of the structure though, it can be a little cramped and hard for a long performance. The ice cream in the interval is delicious enough to compensate though.

Nice venue and the gentleman who sold us the tickets was very nice and helpful.

Absolutely love this place. Tickets booked again. Small venue so good if you don't like crowds. Very small bar so fill yourself up before. Great access into town which is a stones throw.

Aretha was fantastic. Danced sang and had a great night. Staff were very polite and helpful.

Place is so amazing show was great the only down fall was the seats there too small but its really good otherwise

Quaint Victorian theatre. All seats appear to have a decent view of the stage (No obstructions).

Brilliant traditional theatre with up to date productions, our trip to see Milton Jones was superb as always, friendly and professional staff, good facilities.

Everything seemed well organized. The queues for refreshments were short too.

What a great venue, oozing with charm and character, lots of steps up to the higher circle, boxes for the posh, but just an intimate and cosy feel to the place.

Some great shows and visiting artists often surprising for a slightly off the beaten track place like Buxton.

Recommend at least one visit, you'll always be able to find something to go and see.

The show was ok but the compare spoil it for me. The drinks were expensive

Went to see Beverley Craven, Judie Tzuke & Julia Fordham on their Woman to Woman tour. They were AMAZING. The venue was good with very friendly & considerate staff

A gorgeous theatre, full of history. Great staff, great vibes, the only drawback is a lack of toilets.

Beautiful venue. The decor is stunning. We have visited many times and seen some excellent shows. Tonight's "That'll BeThe Day" was no exception! Wonderful entertaining show as always. We will be booking for their next show in October.

Went to watch redhotchillipipers. First time to Buxton opera house.. They entrance is lovely and open and adds to the excitement.. The very delightful volunteer Helen was a helpful and friendly..and gave the highest standard of customer service.. Lots of bars.. Toilets a queue.. Aren't they all tho.. Prices for drinks extortionate..

We went to see Cinderella with our family from Australia we all enjoyed the show thank you all Saturday 28th dec .

Lovely experience really enjoyed the night with good view of the stage just the right size venue. Plenty of things to do and see, will go back next year.

Fantastic entertainment in a beautiful theatre, we watched the Areatha Franklin tribute last night, amazing lady with an amazing voice & she had such respect (excuse the pun) for all the band & her backing singers brilliant.

Beautifully restored theatre and very interesting Dickens story The Black Veil with revered actor Chris Brookes (of The Polar Express productions) in the lead role as Dr Ruggles. One to watch out for.....

Beautiful little theatre set in the Derbyshire hills. Well cared for with friendly, helpful front of house staff. Sound quality at the Steeleye Span concert left a little to be desired detracting from the excellent performance of the band.

I'm lucky enough to live in Buxton. No matter how many times I visit Buxton Opera House I still cannot get over how beautiful it is. Tonight was yet another great night out watching the amazing Brendan Cole and his company of talented dancers and fabulous musicians. If you've never seen a production at the Opera House then put it on your bucket list.

1st time at the opera house beautiful inside stunning ceiling ..went to see the floyd effect they were awesome good view from our seats row M.

Poor selection of 1 overpriced bottled beer if you're a bitter drinker....

Attended the James Bond theme tunes Concert in he beautiful setting of Buxton Opera House. Enjoyable evening. Plenty of parking close by, friendly staff and gorgeous decor inside this pretty theatre. We sat in the upper circle which gave good view of the stage and the fantastic plaster and gilt ceiling decoration. Definitely worth visiting if in the area. This is our favourite theatre.

Just been to see Ian Mckellen here. He was excellent.
The place itself is amazing. Staff are very good. Polite and helpful.
Only problem is small entrance to theatre and gang ways. Would not like to be here in a fire.
Very few toilets. Have to use pubs nearby.

Lovely place just been to see Roy Wood and it was fantastic. Real nice venue like concerts used to be, Really has a lot of old world charm. Brilliant!!!
