Great mountain. Not too crowded. Good mix of terrain. Not the biggest and no double blacks, but a ton of fun for the family.
Great beginner mountain with nice variety in trails. The price is extremely reasonable and I've gone back a few times. Lifts are available and the wait is never too long.
This was the I started snowboarding at and have enjoyed the trails for years.
Great intermediate mountain. Nothing fancy but some nice long cruisers and fun black and blues
We had an absolute BLAST snow tubing. We drove the 1:30 just to experience the tubing and we will most definitely be back.
The staff was mostly friendly though a few times you could tell they were getting aggravated because people just didn't know they couldn't cross the lanes at the bottom of the hill.
A simple sign at the top and bottom of the hill would make all the world of difference. Otherwise, it's a great price, and a good time.
Also the first time up the conveyor lift was a little confusing for the little kids but by the time we left we were all experts on how to best position ourselves to get up the hill in once piece.
Fun family area with good prices during the week. A big enough mountain to have variety and longer runs. Not much for expert or black diamond skiing, but good intermediate terrain.
Had season passes for 2 years now. The staff is great. Very intimate feel. Great for Kids and Family skiing.
Always fun, nice staff, cool simple mountain. Supee great place to learn.
My daughter, went with a friend, never skied a day in her life, but wanted to try it. Took a lesson, the guy couldn't have been any ruder, became agitated when she couldn't turn!?!? Guy was talking to her like she was 2!!!! Ruined her whole experience! And don't know if shell ever try again? But NEVER go this place ever again!!! News flash, when ur an instructor, teacher get some freaking patience, it's ur job!!!!!!! Moron!
Best first time skiing experience w/ 4 yr. old. Lucy was great
Nice start to the season. They are not completely open yet but they will be soon. The trails that are open were full of snow and well groomed! Staff is always friendly and the skiing is always great. And you can't beat the price! $25 mon-fri! Sign me up!
Great day for skiing. Got out early and had FABULOUS conditions. We'll be back.
A great place to get a variety of terrain at a great price. I can get season passes for the family for basically the price of a long weekend in VT or ME
Great for beginners. There are four magic carpets and a bunny hill lift. There is even a turn section just for turns. Really good for learning. The mountain itself is small but still fun. The lifts can be a little stop and go and slow though.
My favorite mountain in the Berkshires! The staff are friendly, the mountain has a good variety of runs and you can't beat the price.
Surprising hidden gem. Can't beat the $25 deal during the week. Wide trails and long runs for a smaller New England Mtn. I was really surprised by how big the place was. Lifts are a little long but the view/surroundings make it nice and relaxing. Snackbar didn't have much of a variety during the week but seemed to have a lot more options available on the weekend. Can't wait to go back!
We have season passes and love this mountain as well as the mountains they have deals with!
Nice place, just don't ever plan on trying to sit down. Lodge rules of no reserving tables is no where near enforced. Try and sit down at a table with gear on it and no one there and the people get nasty. No one is around to enforce the rule. It's ridiculous.
Slopes: They have a good selection of blues and greens and blacks. Not as great for beginners as they only have one really beginner slope. The ski lift lines were also very long when we went there and the slopes are overall very crowded.
Facilities: There is water everywhere giving the lodges a damp smell and disgusting since you are trekking through this disgusting sludge water. Not a great bathroom situation either.
Awesome place to ski or snowboard especially if you're a veteran discount apply on lift ticket and rental. Must be purchased at Main Office. This place is very nice and reasonable. Been coming here for years. Love it here.
Ski butternut was a okay place to go snowboarding. I went on a Monday morning and there was practically no one there until around 12pm which was fantastic though this was bittersweet for a few reasons. I went down every trail with ease and never really ran into traffic. But I did this like 4 times and almost got bored after a while going down the same trails. There were only 2 lifts open that day so there weren't many options but for the $25 it cost me to go i can't complain to much.
I drive up from Connecticut to ride here because it's better than anything Iocal to me. The weekday price is awesome and to be honest the food is really good for the reasonable prices.
Great team of employees and management at this mountain. Today was very high winds, most areas didn't even try to open. I haven't been to Ski Butternut before but when I saw they had lifts open to the top I ventured up there. FYI...it poured yesterday and the team groomed this mountain out perfectly. Well the wind finally made management close up just after noon. They gave out free vouchers for another day without even flinching...never have seen that before. 5 stars team.
Super crowded. We went on a weekday and there were kids everywhere. Facility is a little dated but their lodges are quaint considering that this resort is small. They boast 22 trails but 2 of these are for kids and maybe 80 yards long. Ticket is cheap at $25 but you get what you pay for. This resort is not for me.
This skiing area is best suited for families or casual skiers.
When I was there the snow was nice and groomed in the morning but quickly became icy.
The lift lines were somewhat long but tolerable, except for immediately after lunchtime. The crowd quickly dispersed, but unfortunately the lifts started stopping at around 4:10 PM, and food service also stopped in the larger lodge. The lodges were crowded, and was very hard to find a table at lunchtime.
The tubing was great fun for my grandkids, my only complaint was that when there are more people than tubes, it's not fair that they were spending more time standing in line than tubing, 4 children cost me 100$ it was a lot of money, when most of there time was waiting
During the week, this is a great, fun, friendly place to ski. There are good snow conditions often, and nice blue trails (the black diamonds are really blues as well). The trouble is that the staff is consistently very rude on the telephone. I've called to ask questions about tickets, buying skis, and generally trying to get oriented to the resort, and every time it makes me feel like I never want to go there again. They need to get a good manager who knows how to train the staff; with an attitude adjustment, this place would be a treasure.
We were here for an art festival in the summer. Nice and large ground, can accommodate a large group of people...
The staff is nice, the slopes were nice but unfortunately slightly icy. The reason why I have four stars is because it's expensive. Ski lifts were big and the place was beautiful.
Always an easy place to navigate and crowds are generally good. Snow is well groomed and a good variety to choose from, 1000 vertical feet is a good size.
This is a review for the upper lodge. Filthy tables and floors. No one is cleaning and wiping down the tables resulting in unsanitary conditions. The prices are also inflated. $16.31 for a generic cheeseburger, fries and water. They charge $3.00 for a bottle of water! After getting ripped off, I got to eat my meal at a table that I had to clean myself. Disgraceful. My advise is to bring your own lunch and Lysol wipes.
Pretty good place to go skiing. Not the longest runs, but they have good operations. Not the greatest lifts but still good. They don t have any real steep runs, but the trails they do have are good.
Went here on a Thursday morning - nicely groomed trails (all open BTW on 2/16/17), no waiting in lift lines. Yeah, it's a smaller mountain, but for $25 you can't beat it. Good variety of trails - nothing too extreme, but some semi-challenging runs can be found. My only gripe is that the lifts are kinda slow, but all good otherwise.
Best family mountain!! Best snow making and grooming!
Great place to ski if you live in southern New England / NY and you dont want to travel farther north to ski on larger mountains.
Love skiing here! Not the biggest place, but a good all around fun experience
great for kids. We went on a Sunday beginning of Jan. and it was not crowded
They got the best Snow tubing in the Connecticut and Massachusetts area. The design of the hill was perfect. The lane are wide and compacted plus the hill was perfectly inclined to give you really good speed. But the best part of the hill was at the end where it incline slightly and once you reach the end another slight incline help you move towards the conveyor belt. This make you less tired and allow you to do more tubing.
Very family friendly place, offers veriety of services. Snowtubing $25 for 2 hours on weekends, $15 on Friday night. Snowboarding. Skiing. Reasonable priced. Variety of terrains. Skischool. Upper lodge has really great food. SkiButternut offers free WiFi. Ski store. Season rental. Magic carpets and chair lifts. Parking could be a problem if you come on Saturday at 11AM.
Went tubing at butternut 5 minutes into it they shut down the track and gave nobody their money back
It s a good family mountain. Great place to learn for kids.
Pretty good place for families. It gets a bit crowded on weekends (as you might assume). It s a mid sized mountain and has plenty to do for skiers with all levels / types (prob not for experts, but not sure any experts visit this mountain). Facilities are ok, though it gets really dense with people waiting at the base area.
Overall a good family oriented ski area.
I like Ski Butternut so much, I became a ski instructor here.
I've skied all the big resorts in the East - you won't miss anything they've got when you come to Ski Butternut. The groomers here are magicians, our snow conditions are consistently stellar.
We're a little mountain with a big family. Come slide with us, we'll make sure you have fun!
I have two kids 6 years old and 11 years old.
They are first time to ride ski and love this place.
I think this is a good place to first riders for family.
Great trails for intermediate and beginners and the best snowmaking facilities I've seen in the area for when Winter doesn't know it's arrived
Great little mountain for a quick trip. Doesn't offer the scale or facilities of the larger mountains but at the same time gives you an easier/cheaper options for a day/weekend. Staff is very friendly.
My boys participated in the mini riders program and had a great experience. We'll be back!
One of the top snow areas around always having high quality service and tracks for all ages
Great family Mountian. Small lodge. Great conditions
Nice place. Very affordable and perfect for a beginner such as myself. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly.
Very family friendly ski mountain. Not for advanced skiers.
I have loved this mountain since I was a child. Butternut is a great place for families and Great Barrington is a nice little town.
Was a great time
Very nice staff
Great instructor's
Been snowboarding here for over 15 years but my last visit was very frustrating. Forgot my boots and was charged Full price for a complete rental rather then just for the boots. I've never had any establishment do this including other trips to butternut. Also the computers were down and multiple customers had to fill out long rental forums taking away from prime riding before it gets too busy which the holidays brings.
Wonderful place to go with family, the attraction in the snow is very good, the hot chocolate an enjoyment.
Ski's Stolen - trails are nice but when you come out of the lodge to pack your skies up for the day and go home and find out someone stole your skis while you were taking off your gear it makes for a terrible experience. Went to the ski patrol to report but do not expect them to find. My $25 ski day just cost me $750. I would highly recommend bringing a lock for your skis so they are not stolen. Very upset as I loved my skis and was not looking to buy a new pair. I hope whoever stole them breaks a leg when they use them!
A great family friendly ski resort for the area. Not quite to the level that you see in Vermont, but good enough for the short get aways!
A smaller mountain, quick to get rentals and onto the hill.
Learned to snowboard here this winter. I got the beginners package. The lesson was excellent, and I ended up coming back another day to take on the steeper slopes. I really enjoy coming to this mountain as well as the surrounding area. I will be back next winter for sure!
What a place, to go and learn something new, it's really pocket friendly and the helpers there are too good for guiding you. Its little small but best for kids!! Tubing has an access to escalator so it's not that tiring also for skiing there is rope available!! It's a funn and noce place to visit....With good food and amazing hot chocolate you can have a nice weekend to spend!! Love this place!!
Has very limited hours -- opening late and closing early -- even during Holiday weeks. Mediocre trails, lousy food, and very high prices for what you get. Not at all impressed.
Great family mountain, great trail maintenance. Mostly blue/intermediate trails, but nice beginner area with a friendly, skilled ski school. Ski patrol rocks!
