Budock Vean Hotel Reviews

Situated just a few miles from Falmouth this country house hotel is a wonderful place to stay. We had a lovely few days wandering through the gardens down to the river, watching the golfers on the hotel's 6-hole course and using the fabulous indoor pool and spa. There's also tennis courts and a croquet lawn. The pool is split into 3 lanes and you have a lane to yourself for the hour.
Due to the virus you have to book breakfast/dinner times and you get the same table for every meal. The number of waiters/waitresses is amazing and they are excellent. Wonderful food and the afternoon tea, which they like 24 hours notice, taken on the terrace or conservatory, is a real treat. We asked for beef instead of the salmon sandwiches and that was no problem.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Free parking and wonderful area to explore. There's a couple of NT gardens nearby but remember to book your visit.

Very safely organised. Delicious food. Helpful staff. Very nice bed linen and toiletries. A lovely walk through the grounds to the Helford, and a great early dip in the swimming pool.

I have not been a guest at Budock Vean Hotel so I cannot comment on the standard of the accommodation. However the gardens are absolutely entrancing. They have managed to strike the perfect balance between nature and craftsmanship with a surprise around every corner. Apparently the food comes highly recommended as well so all round a pleasant experience in beautiful surroundings.

Unfortunately the experience here was well below standard.



Apparently we booked a "traditional room" according to the reception when we checked in. If traditional means the following then yes, guess i did.

1. Missing grouting in the bathroom
2. Bleach stained hand towels
3. Two tone carpet that doesnt match or join
4. Spider webs behind the doors
5. Carpet that doesnt meet the edge of the room
6. Fluorescent light globes in every possible outlet, everywhere! (cmon its 2020 guys)
7. Stained/damaged furniture
8. Peeling paint in the bathroom near the shower
9. Shower with water pressure so low it switched between hot and cold every 30 sec
10. The ability to hear your neighbours shower at 7am each morning waking you up
11. The odd smell in the room

Dated and needs a renovation quick, its almost like they half started it but still want to charge everyone full price.

Oh, golf clubs for the course, bring your own due to covid because you cant hire. But tennis racquets, dont worry you can hire them without issue. No consistency here.



Stay somewhere else, I wont be returning!

Great restaurant. We've been here for a lunch. It was not expensive but the best food we've eaten for a wile. Highly recommend.

A really nice hotel, in need of a little updating in places. The rooms - at least our double - is larger than the normal you'd expect, which is a big plus for us. Again though, a bit dated.

Breakfast and the service has been excellent. The view out onto the golf course is priceless.

For what we paid, overall very good value. Worth a visit!

Stopped by for lunch before kayaking, the smoked salmon on sourdough and crab sandwich were light and tasty. Quiet place.

Spotless, beautiful gardens and meals completely relaxing. Kind and helpful staff. We went for our first anniversary, we will be spending many more at this lovely hideaway on the river
