A magic evening with buddy and his son taking over for a few songs!!!! Great food
Great place for free music and food. Enjoyed the fried oysters and fries and they were a great price ,,,,tried the crab cakes and they were frozen and I would not recommend,,,,left one of them on the plate ,,,, enjoyed the music ,,,drink prices were reasonable,,, staff was good ,,, thank you!
Very disappointed. We received a $100 gift certificate for Christmas 2017, not realizing there was a 1-year expiration. We had planned to use it tonight but after a phone call to Guy's were informed that they would refuse to honor it. We will be avoiding this place - and informing our gift givers that Buddy Guy's took their money. Furthermore, gift cards/certificates are regulated by the 2008 Illinois Consumer Fraud Act. Companies are not allowed to pocket the money until after 5 years.
Buddy Guy is an amazing showman. The club is comfortable, sounds good and the staff is friendly.
Food is unbelievable, great size club. It was amazing seeing Buddy in his own club.
Absolutely loved it went there on an impromptu date was downtown and on the Northside shopping decided to stop in. THERE was an acoustic performance very nice musician and the food was out of sight!!! I had the catfish etouffee and my fiance had barbecue chicken ,fresh greens and delicious coleslaw very nice very empty place but it was a nice treat for the middle of the week will gladly return
Great place to go if you enjoy listening to the blues.
Great music, good food, good drink. Great atmosphere and a nice upstairs bit with pool tables.
A have to live the experience to be in this place before I die...
Blues heaven great staff great blues as it should be!!!
To commercial for my taste, we like the gritty soulful style. The musicians were very good but didn't seem to be into it. Just punching the clock. The drinks were over priced. Way cool memorabilia displayed.
Great Blues club where you can sit down to eat or just have a drink while listening to good music. With a little luck Buddy Guy will come on stage to ignite the room!
He is the one and only Buddy Guy!!! Go see him when he's there get there when it opens or you won't get a seat. Packed to ceiling!! Best show closest to a legend I've EVER been! Loved it.
Awesome musicians! Such a great, friendly atmosphere and cocktails were delicious!
Ablsolutly awesome place! High recommend visiting, listing, enjoying the best music in the world. Thank you for great evening.
Outstanding place to listen to some of the best performers in Chicago. You can't get this quality entertainment anywhere else for 20.00. The service is always great, staff is on top of their game and best of all you never know when Buddy is in the house. Thank You Mr. Buddy Guy for preserving this rich cultural experience. We love you.
Paul & Anne
The rudest people I've ever met! The guys at the door look like gangsters and make you feel like they are doing you a favor by letting you in. The lady at the bar is really nice though but we will never come back, needless to say that I do not recommend this place, there are so many things to do in Chicago, I don't need to spend my money in a place where they don't make me feel welcomed. Bad experience!
If you are in Chicago, check out the blues beat at this legendary venue. Get there early otherwise you'll be standing.
Fantastic experience! Music and atmosphere are out of this world. Buddy puts on an amazing show as do all the other talents. The food is great and the chocolate cake is the best I've ever had. Even if you're not able to see a show, go for the food and the environment, it's worth a visit for anyone who lives near the city or visiting from somewhere else.
Buddy Guys is close to our favorite downtown hotel the Congress Plaza. So we always go there for to have good food, drinks, and listen to the blues. In January you can see Buddy Guy himself play his guitar!
I always attend her for a private event. But the music downstairs is always soul good! The chicken wings are great too. No complaints
Music lovers of Blues Chicago has it all. THE BUDDY GUY from the staff at the cashier to all mangers of this place friendly invites you come in to look around take photos. Lunch time a live musician performing free while one's eating. Nice every nice.
Everytime I'm in Chicago, I'll 100% go out of my way to come back to buddy guy's again. The food was ok of the best I've had my whole trip. The live music was just as good and the staff was very friendly. This is not a place not to miss on any kind of visit to the area.
Great spot to eat and catch live blues! If j lived in the city, I'd be a frequent customer!
Costumer service and attention got an A. A very good ambience and music.
I went for a dinner on a random night, with Ross Green and his band performing some Chicago Blues the right way. But before the show has started, my wife and I had the opportunity to meet and have a photo with Mr. Buddy Guy himself.
We were enjoying the show and having our dinner and all of a sudden the legend come into the stage. Buddy start performing with Ross Green for a 15 minutes round was just the cherry on top of the pie.
If you like the Blues, then this place is the right spot to spend with family and friends, while enjoying some of the best Blues in sweet home Chicago town.
So much fun! The music was phenomenal. Buddy Guy even showed up and performed. If you have to eat gluten free, there's not many options, but the music more than makes up for it! It has a cozy feel and there aren't a ton of tables which is really nice. I even got spun around the floor by one of the staff members, (mercy, could that beautiful man move) which made the night even better. We bought tickets to see Jimmy Burns Hosts The Jam and were blown away by the talented musicians. I was even able to chat with many of them while sitting outside, before the official show started. Two thumbs up and high fives all around.
The hosts, bartenders, servers and cooks there are awesome! They really cater to make sure your dining experience is a pleasant one
I come here every time I go to Chicago. Great music, great crowd, always packed. Last time I met some cool people who took me to hang out upstairs in the private area.
Best place in Chicago to see great blues artists .
The live jazz was a nice experience. The food is good nothing to rave about. They might have a cover later in the evening but there are still some performances before they start collecting the cover charge.
Great atmosphere! Excellent music. Delicious southern food! Just don't try to move any table or chairs, the wait staff will yell at you!!
Live music excellent. You can eat there. Must visit
The most traditional blues bar in Chicago has been turned into a museum, from which you can appreciate a good night of blues
Saw Buddy Guy perform live, got a tour and mementos! I just walked in off the street and was treated great!
I had so much fun here. They staff was very friendly. They wanted our business.
A Chicago institution that is well worth the visit. I have seen several concerts here and it's a sort of hallowed grounds for blues musicians. Often you can find Buddy himself hanging out at the bar. The food is also much better than what would expect and the portion sizes humongous. I loved the wings and the fried okra.
We were visiting from Canada, and made a point to visit. $20 cover charge when we arrived after 23:00. Wonderful music, drink prices seemed to be the normal. We enjoyed every second of being here.
I was in Buddy Guy's today with some out of town guests..... As an international recording artist bringing guest to a place with one of the rudest waitress.... I was appalled at the attitude and lack of professionalism displayed by this young woman. The food for the guest was good.... I ordered something simple like a chicken ceaser and the croutons were soggy and the chicken was cold...... I just refused to eat anything else.... She never came back to check on whether we needed anything else... and as far as i'm concerned .... this will never be a place I will recommend my guest..... and because of what I do... I have many groups from out of the country that come to Chicago and ask me to refer them to places..I would have loved to refer them to Buddy Guys..... however my experience left such a bad taste in my mouth in more ways than one.... I will go out of my way to discourage anyone I know to go there... Actually have a group of 45 Swedes coming Labor Day weekend.... and my answer is now NO... we shall take you somewhere else.... Horrible Horrible... and very embarrassing... you get a -10......
We love going here for the Friday night acoustic set!
Very good service. Great live performance by Gracie Curran and the High Falutin band
Music was great - food and drinks meh. We arrived early to get seats even though we had tix for the show - it was still first come first serve. The bouncer/security guy was very aggressive about taking videos for FB/IG but pics are ok. He reminded me as soon as I took my phone out and hovered around to make sure it was a pic. He was worse than a theater usher. Makes absolutely no sense and is a turn off for the younger influencer crowd. It's 2020 not 1998. They allow dancing but other than that, the place was meh...def an older crowd 60 and up. Other spots around town are a mixed crowd but this club was all fossils. I prob won't be back unless there is a big big name on the ticket.
This place is perfect to enjoy a good dinner while listening to a fantastic live blues.
Nothing like it. Great music, great food. Buddy is the legend.
What an amazing place with great blues memorabilia of true legends. Buddy Guy played at 11:30 when we were there. Mind. Blown. The music was unbelievable. The food was very good. However, when we arrived around 7 pm, all of the seating was taken. We had to choose from going upstairs to get a table and be served food - while watching a live feed - or standing for the next 5+ hours. This is disappointing, everyone there paid $65+ per ticket to be there. I would prefer that they sell tickets for house seating, standing room, or overflow at different prices so that audience members go in knowing what the experience will be. I have been to other blues/jazz clubs that only sell enough tickets as the seats that are available and that was a better experience. I understand that their website says this is the policy, it was just disappointing.
Wow! What an enjoyable evening. I met Buddy Guy, Linsey Alexander, and other surprise guests. The band was fantastic, the food was good, I will definitely go again. Bar atmosphere, casual dress. Highly recommended. I had a most enjoyable blues/blues rock evening!
Authentic site, with good atmosphere and exceptional music. Worth! !
This place is phenomenal. Stopped by one random weeknight while waiting for a table at Lou Malnati's nearby. The band was incredible, especially for no cover!
We were back for a private event the following night, and the band was far too good for me to be shamefully forgetting their name. On their own, they were ridiculously good, killing it all night, and keeping the dance floor blocked solid. I'm not sure how often this happens on a regular basis, but Buddy Guy himself showed up and sang a couple tunes, giving them a plug and putting the night over the top.
A highlight of my visit to Chicago, for sure.
Great place for drinking and blues music and have a great time! friendly fast service.
An out-of-town vistor is the tourist-averse Chicagoan's best excuse to check out this Chicago staple! I attended the weeknight performance of a band that I can't remember the name of--but I definitely remember being blown away by the energy and emotion they conveyed (so essential to Blues music!) and heading home afterward in wonderful spirits. I was glad to have eaten dinner beforehand, as the menu was nothing to write home about.
Been years since my visit, but great memories still beg another visit when in Chicago! Heard some great Buddy Guy music on KJAZZ to remind me. Go for it!
Amazing, from the food to the service, to the music to the ambiance!!
On a random night, I was honored to have a beer with the man himself
Great bar very moderately priced. Awesome show with Mr. Guy in the house
I try to explore and see new places but I've got a communication problem with people sometimes. After asking a couple questions the staff on the phone made me feel like a fool and reminded me why I don't like to venture much. Probably tastes great but I felt unwelcome before even entering the building.

The best artists on stage and a good place to enjoy great music, drinks and friends with a fancy host. The big buddy in person friends !!
Great venue with solid bookings and quality staff, if you can tolerate the white middle aged business travel crowd
Great night! Buddy even came out. Staff was very nice and food was decent.
Amazing blues music on offer, great host, delicious food, parking available right across the street, couldn't have asked for anything else.
We had a great time at Buddy's Birthday Bash! The performers were wonderful and it was fantastic to have Buddy get on stage for a bit and then greet the crowd after. The free shots of Remy Martin XO were a nice treat. We also enjoyed our dinner.
I went to Buddy Guy Legend Club while vacationing in Chicago, August 2019. I took a picture with Buddy and he autograph a Tee Shirt I brought at the club. Buddy performed that night and ripped the place. Very nice club and entertainment was 5 star.I can't wait to go back to Chicago and visit Buddy Guy Legend Club!!!!
What an awesome place .. people are friendly ... Staff are exceptional. Food is great...entertainment is WOW!!!! What a privilege it was to meet the man himself... Thanks for an awesome memorable evening!!!
This is the place to go for some southern style cajun food and good blues music. Nicole was my thirst consultant aka bartender and her and the staff are the best! This place is almost like a museum, you can find the walls lined with autographed guitars from almost every major rock and blues artists. They even have a case with Jimi Hendrix shoes and head band! If you're lucky you'll even spot Buddy hanging out at the bar.
Very good. Good music. Nice atmosphere. You are excellent singer and play guittar like no one. We have no words to explain our satisfaction. Congratulation The singer day Matt Hendricks .... you are the best. But the education is very bad. They put a couple on our table without asking, and they got in the way, kissing in front of us. Then they dragged our table because the couple were disturbing the passage. And all this much be paid for us. We paid for the show. We tipped. And we consume a lot.
