This is a great hostel to stay in if you want cheaper accommodation and great value as well as having a good kitchen to cook your own dinner
Really lovely staff, life music on every night and you'll always meet someone interesting if you go in for a pint.

Although the room was nice, When there is music playing in the bar, you can hear it loud and clear. Some might say that one should expect loud music in a hostile that sits above a bar. But the hostel it s self claims that you can t hear the music if it s playing. That s complete bull.

I was all new to the City! The warm welcome by the staff at Bru helped me get along with Cork . It's surely a home away from home!
The breakfast very simple but the room pretty good. Good shower.
Great hostel with all you need within walking distance. Very safe place to stay, patrons of the bar downstairs and staff make you feel welcomed and relaxed. Only downside is the amount of stairs if you have a room on the third floor. Even so, it's been a lovely stay.
Live music and bar + hostel? It was fantastic. It was convenient to stay here for a short overnight trip coming in from Dublin since the bar and music is right below. The staff was very, very friendly and eager to answer any questions. Fellow travelers were quick to meet each other. In the 4 dorm suites, a hand towel should be added in the bathroom to dry hands.The locker cages under the bunk beds don't prevent theft and were useless, but I stayed in a 4 bed room so there weren't many people. Generous check out time and free luggage storage! Basic breakfast to tie you over until lunch: toast, jam, couple of cereals + milk, and coffee/tea. I wish I had more time to stay here.
Rough and basic accomodation. Uncomfortable, hard beds. Very noisy room: music downstairs first, road traffic all along and early delivery trucks in the morning made it difficult to sleep. The staff is friendly, though, and provided towels when requested (not included, initially). Not the right place if you look for comfort and rest. For the young and spirited. It's clean and the shower works well.
By far the best hostel experience I have had so far in Ireland!
The facilities are very clean and easily accessible. The room I stayed in was nicely set up, had a cage for my belongings, plug in by the bed, hangers for coats, a decent bathroom with a warm shower, and the bed wasn't bad.
The TV room was nice to sit and relax in, and the kitchen had everything I needed for food prep.
And it's above a bar with live music, so that's nice too!

Hostel is in a good location. Breakfast is basic but OK.
They put a family with small children into the only room above the bar directly above the Stage for their live music. Heater did not work the first night but they said it ist timer based. Complained again the Seconds night, suddently IT was functional. The window in our room was not closing right, so street noise was louder than the bar and we had outside temperatur.
Wanted to close the doors to the common area, as our room was adjacebt and it was noisy, but that was not allowed as it is a common area. Did not understand that, staff was offending in the end.
Would not recommend the hostel and would not stay there again.
The room and bathroom itself was fine, clean enough. It was in an okay location.
I backpacked through Ireland for two weeks and this hostel had the worst bed, by far. It feels like I was sleeping on a rock.
This was also the only place I stayed where my roommates were completely inconsiderate of others in the room. Coming in loudly in the middle of the night (clearly with people who were not staying in the hostel at all). Getting up and letting their male companions come in early on the morning when one of the girls was changing.
If your young want a fun time come here, if not you won't get much sleep lots of noise, had fun experience here, but people roommate with us inconsiderate, older woman at counter very rude, threw hella shade at the wrong person, brushed it off I can see why she's mad.. everyone else of the staff lively and hella friendly!

I stayed for a week. It s a nice hostel and really clean. It was super quiet tho because of Covid
Hostel with reasonable bed and breakfast. Everything was clean. The room for four people was a bit on the tight side with our suitcases. The staff were very helpful. We also had a drink in the accompanying pub.
Great value and location. Private room is a great option for couples who normally stay in a hotel but looking to save some cash.
Nice clean rooms, big common room and kitchen, and a bar downstairs with live music I think most evenings.
Avoid as plague... The girl in the reception when you check in get deposit of 10 EUR and on check-out she says that she already did return the deposit or if she didn't that means that she got no deposit from us at first place. But I am sure that no deposit was given back... And I am pretty sure that there was a deposit given when check-in !!!

Edit for replay: Well, if it is as you say than you should check the girl who was at reception at 14 June afternoon!! Because she asked for money too and she got the money, I AM SURE !!! Check your cameras if needed, cameras never lies but the girl at the reception that day is lying!!
And obviously she got the card and paper signed without even reading all of it (most of visitors wants to go to rest as soon as possible) .
PS. Its not about the money. Thousands have been spent on traveling, so no one worries about 10 Euro but its just a problem there and i stated it.
Big kitchen with almost everything you need. A fridge, gas cooking station with oven and basics like milk, salt and pepper are available.
The rooms are okay. I booked a three guest room, even though we were only two. Room was a little small for a big bed like that, the bathroom is small but everything was clean and tidy. I mean, it's a hostel, not a hotel.
The bar downstairs is nice, has a screen for TV and a life music stage. For guests, the drinks from the taps are 4 from 5-8 pm and 4,50 'til closing time. I recommend the Orchard Thieves Cider.

Clean rooms and friendly staff
Bar is great! Fun cozy and live entertainment every night!! The hostel is good. The rooms are clean and simple. Beds could be a little softer. The room included its personal bathroom and plenty of outlets. Solid hostel to stay at. We had a great time!

This is one of my favorite bars in Cork. Bru constantly offers competitively priced drinks and caters to a broad selection of musical tastes. Would highly recommend to tourists or locals alike.

Hostel has decent rooms and beds. The kitchen is very good. Refrigerator, coffeemaker, cooking range, microwave, heating kettle are few of the things for our use.
All in All, a perfect place to crash for couple of days.
Brilliant bar & hostel in the city. They've got live music on most nights with everything from singer songwriters to live hip hop. Very friendly staff and a top selection of beers. Definitely worth dropping in here for a drink while your in Cork, plenty of great restaurants and bars on the same street as it as well

The location was decent, just outside of the city center. Rooms were quite small, so I recommend earplugs if you're a lighter sleep. But otherwise was fine, good if you're just looking for a place to crash. Bar downstairs was decent too.
Couldn't recommend Bru enough. The rooms are spotless, plenty of natural light in front facing rooms, big huge vintage windows. Residence bar downstairs stay open late and the staff are the friendliest people in Cork.
I like to be here, it's in the middle of the city, it's cheap and you always meet nice people.

I don't think so, even if you have to reduce your German luxury ideas in this hostel, it's not a rat hole in which everyone dies.
It's just a hostel and it has Irish conditions.

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful with suggestions on places to see in the city. The bar below has live music at 9pm, and during the week (Tuesday I think, they have music bingo). It's far enough from the student campus that it's not chalk full of students. For the hostel, the rooms are a tad small, but it's standard with other hostels. Breakfast is included, and it's a decent simple breakfast (cereal w/ juice and fruits). Staff are on site 24/7 for the hostel. The only issue we had was finding parking, but there are overnight parking available nearby.

Beds/rooms comfortable enough. There were some shady characters in the bar trying to steal from tourist and the bartender accidentally tried to give me the wrong change for a beer. It s nice they have kitchen/lounge area for people to use, just be careful in the bar.
The hostel was really nice and cleaned for the 4 night I stayed. Close to the city. We don't hear the music in the bar from the rooms.
Nice bar on the ground floor with live music on various nights. Several small rooms with 4 beds help reduce the likelihood of ending up in a zoo although there are larger forms too.. Their bar is open to residents until 3 or 3 30 though and it is a haven for staffs and hens...Bring some ear plugs! A basic breakfast is offered that will at least help soak up some of the previous nights beer!

Mixed, the other 3 girls in my room came home drunk at 3am. And when I told them that I was sleeping ... they limited me assaulted to tell me that I had only to sleep! Nothing better for a bad atmosphere in the room! Regarding the reduction on drinks at the bar, it is not on all conso ;-)

This was a really nice hostel. It was connected to a bar and they give you discounted drinks if you have a key. Fancy looking but for a good price. It could have been a bit cleaner but otherwise lovely. Nice staff, but expensive towels.
Spent a semester of uni commuting and making use of this warm and friendly place. Great value, service and craic!

The hostel would've been great, but unfortunately a group of immature, inconsiderate Americans made this one of the worst hostel experiences of my life. Myself and other guests in the hostels were unable to sleep between 1:30am and 5:30am due to the rest of the residents in the hostel being loud, obnoxious, and rude. The girls were slamming doors, shouting running up and down the stairs and invited none-guests to their rooms, breaching multiple of the hostel's own policies. The disturbance continued throughout the night despite us (other guests) asking them to keep it down.
In the morning I found out that the hostel staff was aware of the disturbance, but failed to control it, hence the low review score.
"Ladies" if you're reading this, next time you want to host an orgy just rent an Airbnb.

I could understand that the staff did not care about an alarm going off all night. I could understand how they did not consider giving us a refund for the first night. But what I can t understand is how we just wanted to leave and not stay a second night because the first night s experience was EXTREMELY terrible and they wouldn t let us (when we were trying to check out at 5am and just get a refund for the next night). Some things are out of your control as hostel staff. I understand. But you truly need to learn how to accommodate guests when they have one of the worst hostel experiences of their lives at your hostel because the alarm won t stop going off throughout the entire night.

It's a fantastic place for the students especially, according to me. It's very cheap. You can book your seat before or can book by visiting the hostel on that day. But I suggest to book a seat before because, the vacancy may be finished. Also for the pre-booking, they won't charge. You can pay during the check-in. You have to make a 10 refundable security deposit for the key, which you'll get during check-out. Also, everyday you'll get free breakfast. If you want cooking, you can do with your staffs. Actually, I did cooking while I was here. It's good at a word.
Super cool place. We checked in really late one night but it was fine. Had a great time in the bar downstairs, talking with locals, and the rooms were nice and clean.
The room was basic but clean. I had a single room and it did have its own bathroom which was nice, but I could never figure out how to get hot water to come out of the shower. The Bru bar downstairs was nice and typically had live music daily.
I loved it. It sleeps well, clean and breakfast included this great.
The rooms were small but tidy and clean as was the en suite. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only trouble came from some drunken antisocial guests that were disrupting an entire floor for an entire night the situation was dealt with well and promptly.

We didn't stay in the hostel. However, we have visited the BruBar for their live events and atmosphere. Here you will find the place cozy with a rosy ambience at nite.
Grab the couch by the window. You feel right at home.
The Brubar is wheelchair accessible. There is wheelchair accessible seating. Saw food for the eating.

Awesome, fantastic, amazing. This place was a welcoming face to arrive to in Cork!! From the second we arrived to the second we left the staff was welcoming and answered any questions we had! And having a bar right downstairs was really great. Everything was clean and comfortable. No complaints here.
Brilliant pub/hostel. Live music every night. Good selection of beers and very nice staff.
Can be loud if sleeping on first floor, as music is played downstairs until 2am or so, but very central, clean and safe.
