If you re in the Ventura area, this restaurant is a must stop! First, there was just a great vibe in the harbor and the views from the restaurant was great! Second, the restaurant staff was very friendly! Third, the food was great! We ordered the 1/2 dozen oyster, oyster Rockefeller, and the garlic baked clams (GBC) for appetizers. They were sublime. Now, nothing beats the fresh oysters but we were pleasantly surprised with the oyster Rockefeller and the GBC. Melted cheese and spinach on the oyster was just a great combination of flavor and the breading on the GBC was just the perfect match with the garlic and the clams. We also had the seabass and the swordfish with a side of clam chowder as our main entree. It was good but we weren t blown away by the taste like how we were with the appetizers.
Overall- the vibe of the area is great and I would highly recommend just splurging yourself on the appetizers (oysters, oyster Rockefeller, and the garlic baked clams)! You won t regret it!
Good sit-down seafood restaurant in Ventura Harbor. The food was pretty good; about what you would expect from a mid-range seafood joint on the beach. We had a weekday lunch of classic steamer clams, clam chowder, and salad.
Server was friendly, food came quickly, and we had a lovely view of the harbor from the covered patio seating.
Great food, bad service Loved the fish & chips, but everything else was disappointing. Had to ask for silverware. Fork was pre-loaded with food. Water and sodas had to be reminded, then couldn't get any straws. Forget about a refill. Started feeling purposely ignored since the couple next to us at the window bar seating was getting great service. Gave up on request for dessert and asked another server for the bill. No excuse for this. Won't be going back.
I ordered the calamarie and was amazed how fresh it tasted, not rubbery at all. Our service was amazing. My friends salmon was excellent. Prices were reasonable. A definite revisit when we are in the area.
Brophy Brothers would probably be better received if it was not so close to Andrea's, which is arguably the best seafood in Ventura. And much more local and authentic than Lure and Brophy.
This is an average seafood restaurant. The ahi tuna had a good texture, but almost no flavor. The view is nice, but only if you sit by the windows. For a bathroom, you have to use the public restroom just outside. Overall, the main problem is it's over-priced.
Who'd have thunk that a seafood place would have such an outstanding chicken sandwich. Plus: MUD PIE! Combined with a great view, it made for a superb dinner.
The food was okay it was pretty over priced . They forgot half of my meal . Drinks were empty , until a different waitress walked by to fill them . What made it worse was they weren't even that just. Will not be returning not very impressed .
Very Good A co-worker recommended Brophy Bros. for dinner while I was in town on business. Nine of us went to dinner and they easily accommodated us. The food was very good and there was a nice view over the water. If you go, be sure to have the clam chowder. I had a cup and wished I had ordered a bowl...
Weird side with pastas... rice pilaf which was dry, undercooked and flavorless or, french fries! Veggies would be like 3 dollars and change extra! Friendly service but real slow on drinks.
Brophys is always good food! Love the clam chowder! Don't like having to go in to make a to go order, it takes way too long rather than being able to call in and pick up!! So, we don't order as much as we would otherwise.
We had a party of 10 and they gave us great service and the kitchen made us awesome dinners for all.My wife's Crab cakes were delicious and my Mahi Mahi was perfectly prepared.
Delicious. Our waitress was fantastic, food was fantastic, and the view was fantastic! Boyfriend also had the clam chowder (not pictured) & that's what keeps him coming back!
Customer service rating is a 5. My friends and I had a problem with our meal and Michelle, the manager, took care of the issue in a swift manner with excellent customer service. She was sincere, concerned and reasonable. I will definitely be back. The waitstaff was eager to be of service and the food was good too! I am one of those people that if the food is good but the customer service isn't, I won't be back. But if the customer service is excellent and the food is alright, I would still come back.
Seafood at this spot - very tasty. I should have took a photo of the food but it was too good to interrupt. It has a great feel to it. Menu is like a place in San Francisco I loved.
The kouign amann was my absolute favorite one that I've had in California. (Only the esteemed Dominique Ansel's DKA in New York surpasses it, and it far surpasses the others I've tried.) It had the amazing flakiness you'd expect from good viennoisserie while balancing both the crispier, golden outer crust with the softer, buttery inner layers. Plus, it was just sweet enough to lift up the fatty flavors without turning into a toothache-inducing sugar bomb.
The Channel Islands harbor is beautiful at night, all lit up for Christmas! The clam chowder was outstanding. They also serve delicious crab cakes and cioppino. The serving sizes are very generous and the service was excellent. My daughter found this place because she knew that I miss living near the ocean. I really don't want to leave California!
