Very nice location, good food, good wine, great staff. Very good experience. Nothing exceptional though. Perfect if you want to play it safe, a little plain if you're an adventurous foodie like me.

It was a very good, 1st-time experience! No reservations, that was problematic for group of 9 except the Ventura Harbor Stores are a good distraction for the long wait. But, the expected 75 minutes was only 40 minutes! We sampled most of the menu, it seemed: I had their signature Ciopanni fish stew - no leftovers. That means it was very good. Others had fish & chips, clam chowder & salad, salmon & rice pilaf, shrimp scampi, tuna melt... It was a fun way to finish Father's Day in Ventura after spending the afternoon at Marina Park on the other side of the harbor. Go to Brophy's! You will enjoy it. Great service, great food, 3 of 4 adults had a wine, sea bass? They liked it. I stuck with Coke and extra bread & butter as we enjoyed the night air & the harbor view.

Visited today at 4pm I believe and was immediately seated. Waitress was friendly and was quick to get us everything we needed. The shrimp and crab salad (minus the seafood sub avocado) was fresh and delicious. They were incredibly generous with the avocado. The fish and chips hit the spot for my companion. Always a good time when we visit

Overall a great place to eat. I was a little disappointed in the raw oysters. They were super fresh but bland. I like oysters that are on the briny side. Next time I will ask what the oyster of the day is. So my bad. Otherwise you can't go wrong with this place if your in the mood for good fresh seafood.

The cioppino is very good and very well priced and I highly recommend it. They actually put some melted cheese on top which is a new experience for me but it is really good. Also I had the clam chowder which was excellent. You can watch the chefs cook meals and I stood there and everything looked very very tasty and I was jealous about some of the meals going out to the tables that was not my table. People there are very friendly and you can sit outside on their Upper Deck porch and look out over the harbor.

I had the fried Calamari as an appetizer which was great. Then I had the fish and chips as my meal and was really good the coleslaw was good too. I will recommend and return to eat again.

This is not fair review. We really, really, like Brophy Bros. (particularly Ventura) and have for many years. The clam chowder is simply the best in the west, and probably the east too, although our sampling there is out of date and too far out of memory to be reliable. Fish & chips are also tops as compared to dozens of other places up and down the Pacific coast. The fried calamari has gone down hill! I think they may use frozen, but, in any event, the little squiggly guys are no more, just the uniform rings. OK, but only OK.

Great place to get seafood in Ventura. We had the best clam strips and the appetizers were delicious. The french fries were the only thing that knocked Brophy Bros down a notch from the 5 star trophy. You can see everyone eatting everything on their plates except the fries. They need to give more starch options, like mashed or baked that can sub for the fries. The cole slaw was fresh.

We enjoyed our lunch very much. We sat downstairs on the patio overlooking the harbor. The atmosphere, service, and food were excellent. The seafood is fresh and deliciously prepared. We look forward to returning in the near future.

The Bloody Mary was not great. I had a seafood salad and the shrimp was obviously previously frozen and not good at all. The cocktail sauce had huge pieces of peppercorn in it which also we're not very appetizing.

Pros: Clam chowder awesome, fried calamaris are great too!
Cons:
- seafood pasta totally taste-less. If they put garlic on it, will taste garlic. Missing all spices...DONT BUY!
- Rice side for pasta: Really, Rice for pasta??? Anyways...its totally taste-less.
- bread with butter: waitress brought 3 slices for 4 of us, then we asked for another basket. Bread is the cheap, sponge-like bread...not good.
- Waitress: rude, having attitude.

Not to mention, the food was very tasty. I ordered the garlic butter sticky honey shrimp, which was delicious. I will certainly return! My mother was visiting and staying in the area for the evening, so we agreed to have dinner at this restaurant. We were promptly seated, and the service was outstanding.

A scenic location at the Ventura Harbor, we sat at the bar to enjoy a cocktail and saw the preparation of some of the hot and cold appetizers. We tried the oyster shooters which were delicious, offered with or without liquor. Also tried the cold appetizer plate which had ceviche, peel and eat shrimp served with chips. They brought us delicious bread and butter to start. We watch as they prepared mussels, clams, and their house cioppino. We loved the view of the harbor and watching the boats coming back in after the day out. Wait staff was pleasant and attentive. If you like seafood, give them a try, a wonderful place to take out of town visitors.

Clam Chowder, period. Came here on a dreary, wet day and saddled upto the bar for a bowl of chowder and garlic baked clams. Both have been favorites of mine for years. Service is fast and efficient. Definitely worth the stop.
