Went for seafood buffet. Costs $45 with membership and $55 without. Plenty of food but it did not live up to expectations. Heard several people saying the same thing. Good premises and plenty to see. Upscale club with lots of footy pictures and statues. Has upstairs and down. Make a reservation on weekends.
Upstairs for me is better. Food is always hot. Downstairs in the buffet you have to get the warmer food from the bottom of the dishes.
Went here for an end of year function
The place is alright. The staff are excellent.
Just back for a meal at the Grill. So nice to be back. Great food and great service. So nice to be welcomed back and so glad to see the staff happy to be back working. The renovation is amazing. Love the place. Thank you.
Have been a member for 12 months now, today a group of us did the buffet lunch, the food was good but very disappointed that we and other patrons had to wait 15 - 20min just for a staff member to serve the dessert from behind the glass cabinet, we raised the issue with a few staff members but still had to wait....
Great renovations. Very nice and the new grounds for training looks great
Paid for a Buffet dinner but was disappointed with the quality of the food
Often lunch there. Meals in CAfe 88 seldom hot as appropriate for roasts.
Also a bit rough withdrawals from bank
A-cs etc not now allowed at tab agency
- $
Good hotel with nice atmosphere. Servings on the small side and half of us were still hungry. Kids 12 years old should NOT get kids menu as it's not enough and we had to get extra adult pizza afterwards. Definitely recommend to sign up as member for $2 as you safe around $10 on each meal. Will come back and recommend specials and going weekdays as they have some good specials on those days.
I was there for a conference. It was a good place and we'll equipped.
Not to mention there was regular pasta on the gluten free menu!
I ordered prawns entre and eye fillet for main ,steak arrived first and was cold sent it back and they apologized and said they would cook a fresh one I asked if I could have the prawn salad back, as I was half way through my entree my steak arrived back a bit hotter however tough for a eye fillet
Staff very pleasant I think the duty manager needs retraining
2 out of 10
Looks great since the recent refurbishment was completed. Still a work in progress but getting better each visit. Usual bars, poker machines and eatery.
How disappointing. No kids or outdoor area. Felt very enclosed and more focused on taking money off you on the dreaded slots.
It's sad I've got to give it even one star - it's no-where close. I've been a member for a couple of decades + - club's on the downhill run to the history books, unclean tables, staff who, for the most part, couldn't care less and duty management LESS so! Ha...half the main bar's closed at 7pm on a Sat night...so that tells you something! AVOID!
I love the Brisbane Broncos don't get me wrong but the only time I've been to the club for dinner/night out it was a mixed bag really. I left feeling as if it needs a massive revamp for activies
When Saturday night for seafood buff.
Very poor quality and very poor selection, there wasn't any whole fish the only fish was cooked in oil.
Would not recommend at all
Annual membership to the best rugby league club in the world is $2. Dining specials all the time and even better is the cabinet displaying all the trophies and players from previous success. Love this place.
Went for the fathers day lunch. Do not ever come here on a special day. The lines were ridiculous. 20 mins just to get served to go to the Buffett then the lines were so long it took another 30 mins to get the food. I came here to spend time with family not line up all afternoon. Will NOT be back!
What a great club. Everything is spot on including the top quality steaks.
Friendly and helpful staff as well as delicious garden salads at the cafe.
Mother's day breakfast was very disappointing. There was NO pancakes, food was luke warm, no pineapple juice. The juice they did have was bottled " just juice" you get in the isle at woolies or Coles as l saw them filling the juices up.
For $35 I was extremely disappointed.
The renovation of the main club is a little lost and confused which is a shame because they've invested a lot of money into it.
The lounge section lacks a bar or facility to get drinks anywhere that's remotely close.
The service team were fun, helpful and good at their job however they needed a supervisor or restaurant manager to pull it all all together.
Food was exceptional and worth the visit.
Fantastic food excellent entertainment by Fortunarto dance area could be bigger.
A bit smaller than I expected, but the staff were friendly and this seems like a nice place for me to come for a quiet meal and a pint.
Went there on Saturday the 13/4/19.
Roast was that over cooked my boot would have been easy to chew. Only had mushroom gravy and I'm allergic to mushrooms no plain gravy.
Sea food was dripping in oil from being cooked on to low of temperature and not drained.
Crab was that over cooked that even the shell was soft.
Got a refund and left.
Spent the rest of the night with cramps in the stomach and feeling I'll until around lunch time Sunday.
Very disappointed.
We wanted to try somewhere new. We totally regret this decision. We are in the downstairs restaurant and both ordered garlic prawn fettuccine. It was so tasteless. The cream appeared watered down, the prawns had very little taste and the sauce tasted like water. The bread had more flavour and the pea sprouts were delicious in comparison to the meal. And we hate sprouts.
When asked what we thought of the meal and we told the waitress, there was no compensation and a pathetic apology. Very unhappy. This was our last bit of cash for 2 weeks, and we just wanted to treat ourselves to something nice. This has left a bitter taste. Very disappointed.
Very pleasant surroundings but budget meals were very average
Solid leagues club with everything you would expect. Needs a courtesy bus! It's crazy that one of the biggest clubs going doesn't have one for its members.
17th May 2019. Be warned, the buffet is very much unpalatable. Food way over cooked. Deep fried was greasy and seafood was a joke. If you are into unhealthy eating this might be your style but for the dollars, many other places to choose from. I have eaten at many clubs and by far this is the worst I have experienced.
Great place to visit for rugby league fans and gamblers slot machines a plenty
Food was disgusting and staff was rude when she learned we didn't have a reservation
Terrible food, bad service and not much choice won t be going there again.
Haven t been here for 7 years but decided to go back and the food is horrible and they pretty much kick us out after the buffet closed.
Waste of money we won t be coming here again.
Send email to management and they didn t really care. Took them 3 weeks to reply after chasing them 4 times.
Poor communication from management.
The renovation looks good and the way they have positioned the poker machines is a huge improvement but that's where the positives stop. The food is severely over priced and it's not even that good - sub par at best. They were grossly understaffed at the entrance and as a result the line was long. They have gotten rid of the Friday night and Saturday night buffet as well as the sunday lunch buffet which is disappointing. There food special suck now a days (they have to pay for the renovation somehow). I won't be returning or renewing my membership. There are way better clubs out there.
The lovely young staff did their best but for a Sunday lunch this place was drastically understaffed leading to long waiting time for our meals...confusion over orders and bills. We booked ahead with numbers??
Would have given you more stars but your sevice let you down, came on finals night, with an elderly relative, needed a seat for her and staff dodnt even try and help when asked, just got a reply its busy youll have to find one yourselves! Not a helpful respone. Food is good and reasonably priced.
Usual service club experience. Seems to struggle these days to attract big name quality entertainment acts like it use to.
My boyfriend and I were there for the New Year's show and the band was absolutely awesome credit to you Australian Eagles Show thank you for a great night of music and the count down to midnight.
Apparently not everyone was as lucky to kow it was mudnight
But as for the club it self what a tragic place that is. On our way out a patron of the club was complaining on how the club management/staff hadn't even made some sort of an announcement to let people know that it was approaching midnight. Her and her husband had missed the countdown and the stroke of midnight, they had just happened to look at their watches and it was already 5mins past. Then she mentioned that only a few yrs ago the club handed out NY's hats whistles streamers and so on, yet this yr they didn't even announce it was the new year.
And as for the food, although it looks good looks can be deceiving it's definitely NOT worth the price. Steaks are dry leathery or very chewy. Nothing has any flavor not even desserts. I've always know that with a good meal you shouldn't need to add anything, especially NOT salt to give it some flavor. But not here, even with salt a meal can not be saved. Extremely disappointing although the staff themselves ARE very friendly and attentive. The meals and the LACK of organization leaves a LOT to be desired. The lady's last words to staff were "WE'VE OBVIOUSLY COME TO THE WRONG PLACE"
I felt for her but I know she had a point.
Shame on you BLC !!!!!
Dominated by poker machines. Food is like all other RSL/league clubs.
Seafood buffet review (Saturday nights only) --
The last two times I have been to the seafood buffet with a group of 3-5 people, I was a little bit embarrassed to bring them along to this place because of the following:
*Sand crabs were not cooked/prepared properly - the meat was not pulling apart as ou should, and there was lots of fresh water inside the crabs making it very unpleasant.
*King prawns were not prepared correctly
*Bistro oysters were FULL of shell pieces. The oyster
shucker needs to learn the very important step of WASHING the oyster. I ended up getting a glass of water to do this myself at the table - not a nice look, but had to be done so I could eat them.
*There was no lemon! I had to request the staff to prepare some lemon for the customers.
*I saw a child sneeze on the chocolate fountain & strawberries - the fountain should be behind a shield, and served only by staff as it is circulating warm chocolate - an obvious healt hazard. I informed my group about this, recommending not to eat it.
This buffet certainly has good potential - it has a nice atmosphere and a good selection of food for the average appetite. I'm giving it a low score because they failed basic seafood preparation.
Some positive comments -
Mussels were tender and tasty
Lemon jelly was perfect to cleanse the palette after or between meals
Great spot for lunch. The food was superb. It was nice to soak up a bit of Bronco history.
Very disappointed with the seafood buffet. $45 per member, $55 for non member for seafood buffet which was basically just prawns, really tiny oysters, crab, mussels (no crab meat salad) and the normal buffet. I was part of a group of 13 and we all left very disappointed. Unsure as to the justification of the cost as other buffets eg Jaylianos charge $35 for dinner and all you can eat buffet which include prawns and mussels and sorry to say Broncos have a better variety.
Better value elsewhere. Seriously you think after renovation and all the free publicity the club would get their act in order. The menu is way over price for quality you get. Seriously is there any quality control in the kitchen and is there someone at the pass look at the chips and wilted salad. Food is still inconsistent still eat anywhere else will be better as ppl who ear there has no teeth and prob suffering dementia.
The renovations are quite classy and we enjoy our date nights here.
1st time since the Reno s. Wow! What a makeover. The place looks amazing and the chips are on point.
Really disappointing to see what could be an iconic venue serving up such uninspiring food.
Buffet was $34 each for non-members and provided a mix of overcooked, dry and cheap food. Even if you ate a mountain this would only be a $20 buffet anywhere else.
Topping off the lackluster food is what is at best bistro decor and uninterested staff.
Went to see the Eagles Tribute Band for New Year's Eve. From the moment we got there, we were made to feel very welcome. The band was great. Sounded very close to the real deal. The food took a little while to come out and some of my questions about the food went unanswered even though they were going to go and get the information for me. This was important due to allergies and intolerances. The food was organised beforehand to make sure it was suitable and I'd paid a lot extra to be sure it was right. Overall, we had a very good night. A good way to spend our 30th wedding anniversary.
The Bronco's club looks fantastic with its upgrades. Love the areas for just sitting and socializing. Air conditioning was a bit cool. Wear a jacket if you decide to go and check it out. Should be great in summer. No seniors meals is a disadvantage. We shared as we are not big eaters and hate wasting food.
Seafood buffet is amazing! Delicious crab, prawns and oysters at such good value
Food not that great still, prices far to high, some cakes in front cabinet dryed out and cracked, lost its spark.
Staff make the place friendly. The club itself is a typical club but it has light and brightness. Food is reasonable in price for members and generous for non members. Ample parking, plenty of seating and greeting places. Huge venue, accomdates many different functions and worth a visit.
First time at the Broncos in many years. Went on a Saturday night for seafood buffet and the 4 of us were unimpressed with the quality of food. Whilst it looked great, the taste wasn't there and not very pleasant to eat, even ice cream and cheesecake. Standards certainly have dropped.
Local pub, awesome restaurant and cheaps beers. Can't really get much better than that
$40.00 dollars a head for absolutely crap food. Oysters the size of my pinky nail, Salads were a joke there were none just bowls of lettuce tomato canned corn not a single prepared salad. The pasta was watery and the wine sauce tasteless. The fish was dried out, the asian section just greasy, The only saviour was the mango icecream and prawns which clearly they didnt make. Rip off,
Came for Monday steak night. $12 for a rump steak, chips and salad. Pretty good value but wouldn't want to pay too much more than this. Atmosphere is suprisingly vibrate for the average age of patrons here being older than Jesus. You'll need to be a member or be signed in by one. Signed up for a $7 membership for steak night, have gone twice. I regret nothing.
Worst food I ve had in my life, my burger and chips came out cold. My mates had chicken parmigianas that we re barely cooked. WOULD NEVER GO BACK AGAIN, literally the only thing they have going for them is their pokie selection.
DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT BUY FOOD FROM HERE!
They've gone downhill big time since ending the buffet. It's terrible now.
Went last nigh for the seafood smorgasbord, and we were very, very disappointed. The staff was excellent but the food was shocking! Everything was tasteless, don't they know how to use herbs and spices? If you like plain, tasteless food, the this place is right for you.
The roast looked like boiled meat (no taste}
The tuna bake was revolting but would be suitable to patch up the driveway
I will never go back there.
Absolutely beautiful tasty lunch in the restaurant; lovely setting and very friendly staff. Perfect
Food was not nice on both occasions I've eaten here.
(Buffet)
Small selection of food.
Dessert menu is hidden behind a glass like it was a sacred item.
Average at best.
Less than 30% booked on a Friday night
Won't be long until your out of business with the way its going.
Great place to go for lunch or dinner you dont have to go to the bistro, club 88 has some awesome food as well. They do need things for kids to do other then that its a great place to go
Brillant club after their recent renovations. It was looking tired and outdated but now is really quite nice and stylish. A larger amount of gaming machines also
Great Night Out with all my old Footy Team Mates Really Enjoyed the Night!!!
Good food and service. I will definitely be returning.
