British Colonial Hilton Nassau Hotel Review

This place is not to Hilton standards. They have hidden charges like for electricity and the power went out everyday. Terrible customer service and you also do not get the room you pay for. I stayed there with a three other couples and nobody bill was correct when we checked out. I was told my bill was $650. I said there was no way it could be that and could I see the bill the lady at the counter then said she was sorry and handed me a bill for about $200. This was all taxes, gratuities, electricity charges,resort fees for 3 nights even though I paid for my stay before I got there thru Delta. I will never stay there again. I wanted to stay at the Atlantis, but it was completely booked and I see why.

Used the day pass here and it was awesome! You get access to the pool, chairs, towels, bathroom and private beach. You even get a $40 food and drink credit. Philip at the bar was so fun and cheerful and made sure we had a great time! And Beatrice our server did great too. Great place!

You can do better. I had a good experience my first round here getting a room on the top floor. The only issue I had with it was the noise... the elevator, the staff talking and handling dishes outside the door... but my experience overall was good enough to bring my coworkers back to get a group of rooms a second time. Unfortunely I got placed on the ground floor near several doors that were in constant use. It's as if the doors to the rooms provide no sound attenuation at all. When I complained about the noise I was told that there was none! Thank you for the correction night manager, I will consider it as I lay awake. A block down the road is the cheaper Courtyard Marriott I convinced my party not to go to in favor this hotel. You'll find me there next time.

This place is historical, beautiful inside and out and just a relaxing place to stay. We are so happy we chose to stay here. It has it's own private beach and is close to everything. You couldn't ask for anything more!

It is a very comfortable hotel, the room service is very good. And we enjoyed the private beach so much.

This hotel has an amazing historical feel to it. Rooms need updating but with the new hotel being built next door that will transform these facilities into a marina and shopping area, it will certainly upgrade this historical landmark. Staff very helpful and extremely friendly. Beautiful mature garden with heated outdoor pool, private beach, deck chairs and some of the most relaxing hammocks scattered around the lush garden, spoil guests for relaxation options. Well equipped gym and lively bar. Very central, right at the heart of the buzzing streets offering one perfect place to stay. Cruise passengers can buy a day pass to use the hotel garden and pool for a fee.

Beautiful historical place should come and take a look at the view....

Stopped for a drink and bar food
Was reasonably priced, staff friendly and welcoming. Great place to catch up with friends before a night out or just a quiet drinl.

My wife and I took our kids here (on day passes) as a last minute decision in order to get off our cruise ship.
Glad we did. The staff was very friendly and the amenities were just what we needed to give the kids a little bit of the Bahamas.
We got there a little before noon and although the pool and beach areas were not crowded paid a little extra to rent a cabana as there are very few umbrellas and those were already taken.
Yes there is construction next door but it is no louder than the jet-skis and fishing boats that motor by.
All in all it was a good day and well worth the money.
Oh, and when you open the doors to walk in the lobby takes your breath away, gorgeous.

The hotel is old , not very clean and need updates
The service is worst I've seen, phone doesn't work no water in room and I'm a diamond member. . Beach is extremely small. Very limited menu and extremely expensive

Historic, charming and recently renovated hotel in downtown Nassau. Great for business travelers and tourists who like to be in the middle of it all. Beautiful ocean views & modern amenities. Great for events. Modern comforts with old world charm. Friendly, professional staff.

We visited for a day while on our recent cruise. It's a 10 minute walk from the cruise terminal. Very nice beach that overlooks the ships in Port. Very large pool that looks out on the water too. Hardly anyone there during our visit despite 5 ships in Port that day!

Historically hotel located in the heart of downtown Nassau, The Bahamas. Great events in the hotel lobby. Good room and beach access.

HORRIBLE !!! Do not book a hotel here!
There are bed bugs inside of the hotel!!!!!! (see photo!)
The bed sheets and towels had yellow stains on them!
The area is not safe at night!
High crime area, my cash was stolen.
The area is full of mice and roaches.
There is loud ongoing construction in the back of the hotel!
There is a terrible odor coming from the windows.
The staff is nice but everything else is horrible.

I meet Scott (Engineering manage) at check-in, my colleague and I never received our complementry water, Scott had just come out of a meeting, without hesitation he went and and got us 2 bottles of water each, it the small things that count. Thanks Scott for great customer service!

An upscale property that is conveniently located in downtown Nassau. The northern side of the property is also on a lovely beach. Entertainment is also found in the stylish Bullion Bar.

To me, this is the best hotel in Nassau. Sad to see such low occupancy, but they keep clean and safe. Food is always great.

Had a pleasant stay, friendly and helpful staff, good facilities including private beach and beach bar. Breakfast was rather expensive at $25 dollars, but good so long as you you are expecting to pay for it.

Located at the beach in the downtown area, this hotel is a nice place to stay.

I experienced this downtown Bahama luxurious vacation spot in 2018 and can't wait to get back! The staff was amazing...amenities plentiful and being right in downtown Naussa was a huge plus!!! I highly recommend the British Colonial Hilton for your next stay to Naussa Bahamas!

Horrible, rooms in disrepair. Dirty common areas. I cleaned the pool myself because it seemed no one else cared. Worst service I have ever experienced on a vacation at any level. I was also billed for things that they could no account for. There are very little to no dining options other than the one bad restaurant in the hotel. McDonalds is across the street. The Beach is man made in a ship channel with 4-5 cruise ships parked. Full of seaweed and debris that again, no one on staff seems to care about. I could continue but what s the point. My mistake and I will not make it again.

The air conditioning did not work and all front desk employees are trained to say that they are working on it. Everything is insanely expensive here. Not worth it! Spend your hard earned money on a hotel that actually keeps their guest comfortable rather than trying to save money on electricity at their guests expense.

I was on a work visa and intended to stay for 22 nights. the first 2 nights the air conditioner did not blow cold (compressor turned off). The third night the compressor was turned on but they turned it off around bedtime. To suggest that they are working on it is a lie. I build power plants, and work on air conditioners as well. There is no one that can convince me that they did not turn the compressors off.

Although I was frustrated on the 4th night and asked to speak to the manager "Shantae" (I don't know how to spell it) I did not raise my tone. I did insist that they resolve the problem else I would leave. She seemed to take it personally and said OK with an attitude like she did not care if I stayed there or not. Some people become managers and think they do not have to behave as if they are running a business.

Spent a day here while on a cruise. Beautiful! Exceptional Service...ask for Kendra!! She was excellent!! She catered to us and took care of everything!!!

The hotel is extremely run down. The 2 room suite I had was one of the worst I have stayed in at any Hilton (worldwide). One room in the suite did not even have any windows and the other room had very small windows facing another building just feet away. Many small issues as well: ice makers not working, worn exterior furniture, leaking shower, very expensive food and drinks ($14 for a hot dog!). Also as a Diamond member this was the worst lounge experience. Very odd lounge rules, very limited times, nothing allowed to leave the lounge (i.e. snacks and drink to your room), and it was $25 each for every guest beyond the first (even if they are staying in your room). Breakfast was good and the staff were great, but overall this is a 2 star hotel at best. Definitely not up to Hilton standards and definitely not a place I would recommend to diamond members use to Hilton perks.

If I could give this hotel less than one star I would. We arrived at noon which is 4 hrs before check in, the front desk told us they would get our room cleaned earlier than 4PM, great! Didn't happen. We came to check up on our room and a woman told me to stop showing up because I was wasting my time. The pool closes at 5 PM. No one ever answers the phone. They had a massive graduation party that lasted until midnight that was so loud we couldn't sleep. Our Tvs weren't working. To top it off the outside door had a hole in the bottom, the maintenance man informed me only "small snakes and lizards" could get in. No biggie! Don't waste your money.

Biggest positive is the staff...they were all very friendly and helpful. I stay in hotels over 200 nights annually and have for over 15 years...and this hotel while trying to look regal, is looking tired. But that is typical for any hotel that isn't brand new in the Bahamas. There were plenty of places in the room that needed painted, repaired, or refurnished. But again, typical for the Bahamas where the constant humidity works against wood, metal, and paint. The room was fine, but not all rooms have picturesque views. Dining room food was very good. All around review...it's a good hotel, good food, great staff which makes it easy to overlook the needed maintenance.

I purchase a day pass for British Colonial Hilton, Nassau since our Disney Wonder cruise ship was going to be docked in Nassau, also, this was the only resort that allowed children under the age of 14, all other resorts were for adults only or kids 14yrs and older . We check-in at the desk and then headed to the beach area. At lunch time I went to the Patio Bar n Grill area the bar tender took my order for the drinks. However, the staff messed up our food order. After waiting for an hour, I asked the bartender for an update, told me he is going to check, but nothing, it seems that bartender had no clue. Other people from the cruise ship were also getting frustrated because the staff was extremely slow in taking and getting our food. This was also the same with other guests who were staying at the restore. I spoke to a manager and complained that I had been waiting for almost two hours for our food to arrive and my family was getting hungry. It seems that the staff were extremely disorganized, no one had any clue what to do, I believe they all need to be re-trained again. I then went to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager, I was told by the desk clerk she will get the manager.. 10 mins had passed, I asked again and this time was told that she is in a meeting, it seems that she had a bit of an attitude. We then headed back to the ship so my family can get some food. The staff were not very helpful, they do not care about customer service. I will not recommend this restore to my anyone, being a Hilton corporation owed I would of not expected this kind of service.

Nice hotel in the middle of Nassau. Great view of the ships. The beach in front of the hotel is beautiful. The lounge is ok, the view terrific. The room is the same as the booking. The staff is friendly. Breakfast top.

Staff is friendly. The food is good. The beach is open all night to sit and take in the ocean. The lounge chairs by the pool are so comfortable.

I went for prom and stayed in the ballroom there. The staff were polite and the service was good. No complaints.

This is my happy place!! We cruise to the Bahamas every couple of years and instead of buying an excursion on the ship, we come here and pay to use the beach. It is fabulous!!

Nice little beach area, room was comfortable, if a bit dated. Service was friendly. Breakfast was good, but the rest of the food was below average. Location was good, walking distance from a number of good restaurants. Highly recommend for a business trip, as it is very nice while being a bit cheaper than other options.

HILTON PLEASE FIX THIS PROPERTY!!! It's dated and seems forgotten. Elevators breaking daily. Everything is old. Great location and potential but you really need to spend a few bucks and bring this place around!

Great beds. Very comfortable. Quiet. The staff is what really makes this place. Everyone is great. Especially the girls in the lounge!!!! They make you feel welcome and always attentive. They really make you feel like they are concerned about you. Your staff all deserve rewards!!!!!

Perfect Ambience! The thrill of relaxing is incomparable here. I fell asleep in the hammock and forgot time existed. The customer service was excellent and got complimentary chocolate cake as a birthday treat. I highly recommend the Hilton!

No air conditioning for three days! This hilton is awful, do not stay here. The service is the worst at any Hilton I ve ever stayed at, the rooms need to be refreshed the carpet is old and dirty, dank and the staff could care less. The food in the restaurant was delivered almost 2 hours after taking our order most of it was served incorrectly and we had to hunt around the restaurant for our own condiments and silverware.

Stopped on our cruise. Really cool decor, Starbucks in the lobby made good coffee
