Brighton asylum was amazing!!! I would definitely be back!!!!!!
Definitely not the scariest house. Lines are always crazy long. $50 per person for fast pass
The haunted house was super scary! Always someone waiting around the corner to scare you! I highly recommend it to all people
This place does not enforce Covid regulations. The wait time is over an hour even with a purchase of the fast pass. As you can see per previous reviews. The owner can t handle negative reviews nor tough criticism as they will argue with any one that reviews this establishment in not so favorable or desirable way.
My niece said she wanted to come, I've wanted to for years so I bought 4 full access passes and we came today. Fast pass is definitely worth it if you don't like to wait on lines. We had time to view a few areas, take pics, a break to cool off (it can get hott), few events and still the people who were online when I came were waiting. All that waiting for a 10min event needs to be worth it so check out the other stuff they have to offer it's definitely worth the extra bucks if you didn't purchase the whole shebang to start.
Now addressing some comments I read about safety and Covid.I felt those reviewers were bitter with life. Not only did they separate lines, check temperatures, make sure mask stood on they also had sanitizing stations throughout. If anyone purchased a fast pass and waited on any lines that's your neglect because closed mouths don't get fed besides the many people making sure you had the right line so I'm baffled at anyone who said they purchased a fast pass and had to wait (we zipped on by the many).
I think overall it was a fun experience, especially watching people get frightened, axe throwing, museum etc..Oh and the escape rooms. If you allow yourself to have fun and don't be such a stickler who likes to complain you will truly enjoy yourself.
The extra highlight as well as the haunted house was the Scooby Doo Z Gang. Visuals, good vibes. I just got back now and we're still talking about the event over grub so what more can you ask for especially during these crazy times it was well needed. I would love to return for Xmas and other events they also offer. I had a blast and so did my company and especially niece which is all that matters in the end. Definitely check it out.
Best haunted attraction in the tri state area. Highly recommended if you want a good scare!
i was pushed to the ground and called a whale while they made whale noises at me, definitely don t recommend this place.
Very scary... worth every penny. Bring cash for the merhs!!
Listen, I get what they were trying to do but, TBH the wait and anticipation was scarier then the event itself. I would definitely recommend this to younger and beginners for an appropriate scare. To facilitate my judgment, the gap between groups, and the size of the groups sent through, made the experience impersonal and almost boring. I do understand they are trying to meet their expected time lines and would like to get max people through to experience but, it just left me with the feeling of missing out. I love the spirit toward Halloween but, the whole experience was lackluster.
Definitely buy the fast passes! we got through the asylum and tunnel in about 60 minutes vs the general admission 2 hour wait. The whole thing was absolutely terrifying. At one point I thought maybe I couldn't finish but remembered it's all fake! You forget, with their fantastic acting and incredible scenes/lighting. I don't think I could handle Thursday nights when those who wear the glow necklaces allow the ghouls to touch you! ugh. I would say 1000% give this place a visit. I am so impressed.
props were very good..not enough characters inside..wasnt scarey
Great attention to details. Fantastic actors. Would go again!
Scared asf sweating out my hair and all but fun as hell overall
Update: It s easy to accuse others of not coming, but here are my photos
Not worth the money and the long wait! Don t go, it s not even a good quality haunted house, and Covid protocols are poorly done. Save your self the long wait time as well as the money.
This really isn t a review but I want to know if you get speared in any of the activities if so which one please answer before 6 that. Would be so helpful.
This is my first time going to a haunted house , definitely worth it . They are real actors you feel like your in a real movie . Will come again
So i really hate leaving bad reviews but this place was really just a bunch of cool looking rooms with little scarefactor. Where were the actors guys? Way too many animatronics and not enough man power. There's nothing scary about a prop you have to plug in. And where was the 3rd haunted house? I feel like I was jipped. Yeah I should've probably bought the fast pass but a 2.5 hr wait, really? The entire line just seem unorganized and chaotic. And get this, some chick outside after the event offered us a free escape room game if we left a good google or yelp review. Doesnt that go against every review site's policy? It makes me think if any of their reviews are actually legit.
My review will be comprised of mostly facts of things I experienced on my trip to Brighton
- parking was really easy to find we honestly just parked on the street about 10 minutes away
- the parking attendants were helpful they told us where to go when we got to the facility
- me and my boyfriend got there right before it was busy and we were finished in about 40 minutes (we also had fast passes)
-the atmosphere was electric there were a few actors that entertain you before you get in and they do a great job at setting the tone (shout out to the trick or treat guy and the asylum patient with the grey hair)
- when we left there were a lot of people there in tight lines (not the best social distancing but everyone wore masks and there was a temp check)
-there were multiple staff checkpoints where they stop your party and put space between you and the party in front of you
- unfortunately the groups still ended up close to one another but this may be because the group in front of us was slowed down by the group in front of them
- there were large gaps in space between actors with mostly props and things like that which my boyfriend liked but wasn t personally my cup of tea.
All of the love I have for this experience really came from the actors. They scared the sh*t out of me but really made it fun at the same time. I hope all of them are getting paid what they deserve because they honestly make the entire experience. The sets were mostly nice but I wish there was more thematic difference between each of the haunted houses. They all just looked dark and spooky I couldn t really tell which was supposed to be which. I was personally left wanting a bit more and I think that was just because I wanted to experience more of the actors because interacting with them made this experience so fun. I think this place is neither as bad or as good as people make it out to be and I think if they continue to add characters both inside and outside it will really elevate this experience to another level. I don t think this would have been worth a 3 hour wait though. Bottom line I had a lot of fun when the actors were around and overall the haunted house was well done I definitely agree that COVID regulations could be more strongly enforced especially since the experience itself would benefit from more space between parties.
Not as scary as I had hoped. Took my daughter for her first haunted attraction and she even said it was ok
So I ve personally been to Brighton Asylum a few times over the years. We arrived on Saturday night with our entire crew kids and all. While the line was way too long to talk about here this review is about the asylum and the responses the owner gives to his customers.
Once inside the details and scenes are cool but the actors were sparse. The best part of the house was the penny wise room and the bleeding ground. As I would love to return for any upcoming events due to the recent responses to customers I am going to say never again. Whoever is responding to the reviews needs a lesson in customer service. And then you lie about your responses. Not very professional. Decent Haunted house but terrible customer service. I took a snapshot of the response that really sealed the deal for me. You said word for word you need a lesson in how to read information . And then you deleted it off of Glorialibeth Rodriguez review.
Awesome staff...amazing set up! My heart was pumping, but I was so intrigued with all the props I couldnt look away! Highly recommend!
Omg this place is a heart attack i absolutely loved it totally recommend if ya wanna get scared out of your mind
The staff was so informative and friendly. We had the Fast Pass and arrived at 7:40. The clearly informed me to get there at 8pm, that is when they open. We waited a few minutes to 8pm and went right in. Fast Pass is so worth it,the regular line was ridiculously long! We attended both the tunnel and the Haunted Asylum. I have been to Blood Manor in NYC and I must say, this is the best by far! My family LOVED it, they screamed so much that they could barely talk right after. I will definitely be back next year, also next year theyll6be opening the second floor.
My family and I are PICKY when it comes to haunted houses and we love Brighton Asylum-- from the scare actors in the queue to the ever- changing scares inside. Every year is something new and different and it's always done with such a high production value. Awesome Halloween outing.
Either they skipped a haunted house on us or something because we only went thru 2 houses but over all had a blast
I have gone to Brighton every year since they opened and they continue to be amazing and improve/change everything every year. I just wanted to touch on one thing in one comment, there are many other haunts in NJ and it's very clear why Brighton is number 1 (clearly you've heard of them and never any of the other ones because Brighton is deserving of the #1 slot just saying lol). I love how every event is completely unique and there's always something for everyone (i.e. different types of scares for different people like if you don't get scared of someone in your face there's loud noises or creepy atmosphere and a variety of other ways and things to scare you with).
So much fun. What an upgrade from when they first started!!!
This place was awesome, I'm not 1 to get scared but there was definitely times when my heart jumped. If you are big into haunted houses I def suggest this place.
This was an amazing experience my friends and I loved every moment. I recommend this place for any group who loves to have fun and be haunted.
The escape rooms were awesome! We played The Tomb. Will be back for the haunted house in October
Was there today arrived at 8pm for 11pm tickets cause everything else was sold out.....waiting 3 1/2 hours to only end up leaving with no refund....this is by far one of the worst places ive ever been to.....
Absolutely the best house ever!!! I have been to Halloween Horror Nights a number of times! This house is amazing!
Looks can be deceiving. I've been to a lot of these attractions and this one blows away a lot of the big ones. Extremely well put together inside. Staff was great, actors were awesome, costumes animatronics and detail was on the money. I'm a fan and will be back.
was great place to work and a great haunted attraction
there is no other place can you go that offers year round holiday haunts !!
******* UPDATE
I was contacted by the owner who expressed how horrible he felt and gave me a sincere apology for the experience. I am very grateful for him to have taken the time to do so. I will be giving Brighton another shot!
Terrible experience. This haunt was 2 hours away. We paid for the 10pm time. Got there at 9pm. We had to park at a different location but they offered free shuttle bus to the asylum. Took the shuttle bus to the place. Got into the line by 915. Waited in line for like 3 hours, not even moving. We stood in the same spot for 3 hours. Finally the line started moving at 12am. We then had to wait in line for the haunts. We did the tunnel first since that's where they directed us. Waited in that line for about 30 minutes. Finished the 2 haunts by 1am. They then told us that the shuttle bus stops at 1am so we had to walk 20 min to our car.... We didn't get home until after 3am. NOT WORTH IT! They also had people just cutting the line because they don't have people keeping watch or have it blocked off. There were people they were ahead of us that left. We ran into them later and they said they just walked around and joined the lines for the haunt and we're about to leave and we just got into line for our first haunt of the 2. On top of that the decorating was really good, but it wasn't very scary. They also, instead of mixing Fast Pass with regular ticket holders, they just let every Fast Pass holder go first no matter the time. Horrible.....
Great experience!! The actors were really scary and the decorations made it feel real!! Definitely would recommend !
It was really fun. Great place to come with friends.
The actual haunted attraction is fun. But for general admission the wait is crazy long regardless of your arrival time. Not sure how COVID safe one expects a haunted attraction to be, but it s definitely not the safest as they do not enforce social distancing in the crowded lines and there are props that inevitably come into constant contact people.
Get more out of your money if you wear the glow sticks. Still amazing without them. Super scary jump scares
Felt comfortable with their safety measures during COVID. Animatronics and actors were great - pennywise was the best!
Returned tonight with my family after 2 years and the experience was really alot of fun! It was a Sunday night so we didnt wait in line too long and we got into the attraction pretty quickly. The sets were spectacularly done especially the beginning scene. The 4D experience was definitely a highlight of the attraction for everyone in my party. Although we had a blast tonight, we all wished that the walk through was longer and that there was more spacing between the groups. However, the contact option was horrifying. A person in my party was lifted completely off their feet and was also cornered and scared by a couple actors.. We absolutely loved it. The chill factor was greatly increased by this. I myself was dragged away from my group only to be let go and reunite with them.. Hopefully next year Brighton will improve on the spacing and also add separation from your group to give an even more frightful experience. Thanks for all the fun tonight Brighton Asylum!
Been to a few haunted houses and this is by far the worst one. Waited over 2 hours just to get in, and then waited even more while we were inside. I scare easily and I hardly thought this was scary or entertaining. I don't know why this place is so overrated but I think any other haunted house would be better than this. Waste of money.
H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E !! Waited over THREE hours to get in, with tickets! If you want to do Fast Pass (costs another $20, so $75) you can, saves about 2 hours but it was already $110 a couple without that. Once you get inside there are THREE more times when you have to wait 5-10 more minutes. The place itself was cool in some spots how they had it done, maybe 1 or 2 good scares tops. Nothing but hallways and things hanging. Nowhere NEAR the hype they put into this place. Been to many that are far better. Not worth the time nor the money at all. Complete waste. Eastern State Penitentiary blows this away
Very cool attraction, there is the main walk through which is extremely well done, involved, and perfectly timed at about 45 minutes or so, just inside. Then there are escape rooms as well which I haven't tried yet. Also, my wife and I just went for an off season special weekend opening a few months ago which was awesome. I highly recommend checking it out, it's one of my favorites and my wife and I go to as many as we can squeeze in every year.
Brighton asylum is pretty to look at and that s about it. The only reason this haunt is so well reviewed is because of the staff. (They write most of the good reviews!) The press is another reason... the owner won t let you see negative reviews, if you leave one, it will usually get flagged or your character will be attacked. I ve seen it on tons of these negative posts before this. What negative reviews are left? The lines of course. Because that s not a real complaint. The owner of this company has been around the haunt world a long while and built up quite the negative reputation. Most of the veterans have parted ways because of his shady practices, lack of respect for costumers and employees alike, leaving the haunt to suffer with inexperienced actors, scares and etc. now before the owner tries to defend this (as he will claims that I am a spy from another haunt, an enemy of them, personal demon, foe, etc) whatever excuse they may need to justify their ways and keep their good image go ahead and read through the negative reviews followed by the owners responses and keep yourself informed before they all disappear... This is not a respectable way to run a haunt. Which is a real shame because it s such a beautiful place, with great potential to really become something great. Tho alas, it falls to the way of a Shakespearean crash and burn thanks to the tiereny of poor management and shady Buisness practices. There is a reason this haunt is hated and shunned by much of the haunted house industry and it ain t because they make money. Do the research yourself. And maybe you ll find a few reasons not to return next year. If you have not decided that already. It s shameful. But the decorations are good!
Presentations is awesome, actors are top notch, they are very respectable, best of all, the price is really cheap. Looking forward to the new attractions in November and December
It was a awesome experience they really know how to make haunted fun and scary but their lines were too much two and a half hour wait time not acceptable just to get in
Worth every penny. Get there early because the lines are very long
While the haunted house inside is well done, the organization to enter is TERRIBLE. Expect a 2+ hour wait if you purchase General Admission tickets. And once you think you're finished with the 2 hour wait, they place you in another line. It baffles me that they haven't figured out how to make the lines more efficient since you are purchasing the ticket for a specified time.
Overall I do not think the 20 mins of entertainment is worth the wait. Check out the Horseman's Hollow in Sleepy Hollow if you want to go somewhere that is organized in a much better fashion.
We got there at around 9:50 pm for the 10:00 pm slot and waited in line for 3 hours. The asylum was great - actors were good and costume/set detail was awesome. We enjoyed the asylum better than the tunnel. 3.5/5 scare level for someone who has been to a few haunted houses before. Not worth the wait. There were 4-5 actors outside trying to entertain us in line but we had seen them do the same thing like 5 times throughout the night so they knew we were tired of seeing the same thing.
If they can't accommodate that many people though, then don't sell that many tickets. I understand it's a seasonal attraction so business months are limited, but if you want the people to come back with a good experience then it might be worth turning some people away. Waiting in line for so long killed the suspense for me and by 1 am I was too sleepy to get really immersed in the experience. I had a good time, just not worth the wait.
Such a bad time management! We were said to come 15 min prior to time bought the ticket and ended up waiting for full 3 hours. Plus they don t do refund on tickets. So disrespectful!
Game me a thrill of a lifetime.great actors and amazing escape room.
This isn t really a review but do you get separated in this haunted house?
This place was amazing in the beginning I was thinking that this was a waste of money the lines was extremely long the wait time wasn't too bad when you get inside this still wait time which made me kind of mad but once they got started OMG was I scared my husband was scared even my boys was jumping definitely a go back for next year
1 star because can t purchase tickets online and don t have an atm on site
I've gone 4 years in a row now and it's always a fun time. Got the fast pass for the first time this year and it was definitely worth it if you can spare the expense.
Went last night with a group 12 people. Had a great time! The haunt was great and would definitely recommend to other people. Get there early to avoid long lines!(and wear the glowsticks for the full experience)
Very enjoyable escape room! Definitely challenging but overall fun to play through. Love the details in the design of the room, it really makes the experience more immersive.
Honestly, much better than I anticipated. The rooms are very well decorated and themed. All the actors really seem to like being there. Definitely suggest the fast pass, the line wait was over an hour.
It was worth the wait. I really enjoyed my Halloween. I would tell everyone to go check it out
I went last night, it was so much fun, it was so scary.
I got the fast pass, so I recommend to get the fast pass. You don't have to do the big line.
It was good, go for the "ok for the actors to touch you" they really only touch your shoulders and guide you a little. It does add to the experience.
Conflict was solved.
Wasted time. Website allows you to buy tickets to any date. You come to have a great experience and... try to find out what is going and why everything is closed. We spent half an hour trying to find entrance, call Brighton Asylum, get any information. Everything was useless. It appeared that Asylum was closed. What a surprise. Not really good care about customers.
Was very disappointed. Drove an hour and a half because I had seen the advertisement on Facebook and it looked fun. Waited over 2 hours on line and still wasn t even close to getting in. Very unorganized wouldn t waste your time!
