Good source of informatIon but it's annoying There are too many people especially during exam period
Very good library. She's tall and she's nice. Entrance to the reading rooms is free (otherwise it's 3.90) between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., that's cool. I really like going there because it is my favorite library. It's quiet, the offices are large, there is air conditioning, a cafeteria, it's modern ... The downside is that it is often crowded and you have to queue to get in. Even once inside it's hard to find a place
A spacious library with a lot of books of all kinds, it's great. But:
-> Incessant chatter and noise (why come if it's not to work?)
-> Exorbitant prices in the cafeteria.
-> the guards / security agents are incompetent and prey on the weakest and let others do it. There is no surveillance of the premises inside, but at the entrance, there are at least 7, even when the library is full and no one can enter (so they just sit there doing nothing)
HONTEUX! Impossible to come with a scooter, the person at the entrance refuses you badly and explains that it is not his problem! How do I go to study if I'm not a car and the scooter is my everyday means of transportation? How do you want to change the mindset about pollution if small means of transport like this are refused in this kind of building?
The last time I came I asked a security guard to let me go first in the queue because it was already 1h and that in view of my brace in the leg I could not hold and I had a medical evidence. He answered coldly "no because you need a certificate of invalidity". And so now he will answer like a pregnant woman? We must justify everything in this society of mistrust !! But I do not blame him because it is for me the (old and bourgeois) direction of the bpi that lets things get degraded and does nothing.
The line at the entrance can sometimes be long.
Otherwise the background of documentation may be very rich and interesting for many courses of study, photocopies / prints / scans affordable and the workspace pleasant, Wi-Fi meanwhile is an abominable slowness (then imagine when the library is crowded ...) and the library is close to a nerve center where regularly gather flash mobs that pass music at the bottom of the ball, work there can often be very laborious if the we need to do research ...
Fortunately, the BPi has favorable opening hours for it.
I remember my first day in Paris vividly. I was walking around, intentionally staying out of my phone and exploring when I saw the facade of the building and I was transfixed. It's strange, it's geeky, it's beautiful, and it is a great spot to go and write or read.
Honestly, I don't understand the negative reviews. I tried several libraries and there is no photo that the one is number 1 (if we remove the beauty) because it is true that it can displease after me I like it.
So in its strengths:
- the hours it closes at 10 p.m.!
- wifi everywhere in the library even if it is not excellent it's not all the libraries that we have
- Free
- It's really HUGE! And I never had a problem with space
- Cafeteria and distribution (off because of the covid)
- Free access computers
In short for me there is more positive than negative even if there is negative it should not be denied (the toilets among others) but that does not prevent that in what is offered in France at least in Paris in terms library / workspace
She is in the top, if we had better I would understand that we are complaining but it is not the case.
I am there very often and it helps me a lot to work
Soulless "library" built to keep it that way. It's a bit of a factory, but it allows space to read and study. (when we manage to support the excited bulb who 'tap' on their Mac)
- 4 stars to save my karma :)
Absolutely amazing place! Unfortunately, when you go there, you have to be Zen because some people come there with their bad intentions, their bad smells and their bad chatter ....
A library that can be rented for viewing only, but has no registration and can be used by anyone free of charge. Teenagers are noisy during the pre-test period, but the public nature of homeless people and refugees is what makes them attractive. It is different from Mitterrand National Library etc.
Although it has books of all genres for the time being, it seems that media-related and art-related are still strong. There is a corner where you can play video games and a corner where you can see cartoons (BD, American comics, etc.), but surprisingly there are few users and there is always space available, which makes me feel the difference in culture from Japan.
Weirdos often appear and disappear. The toilet is dirty. The entrance waiting time is long.
Easily one of the most extensive public libraries I have ever been to. Unfortunately it is extremely popular. Be aware of the lines to enter if you go on the weekend.
Overall, if you need a place to study, you are definitely in the right place.
Library open to all. It is good to come and study on a hot day. Now (July 202), I had to wear a mask indoors.
Nice concert on October 6th at night! I came to work, impossible
Very nice library in the heart of Paris. Unfortunately you have to wait a lot to enter. They have a huge choice of graphic novels and a place with a lot of video games !
BPI staff on daily strike since the beginning of the movement against the pension reform. How to block access to books will roll back the government ?! How does this interfere with the economy? Students who have partial revisions or who need books to access documentary resources to write their memoir, do you have a thought for them ?! I hope yes otherwise it is very serious; :(
Absolutely loved the library here. Great big spaces, thousands and thousands of books, and WiFi to get your work done. I was super impressed with how busy it was and how many people were actually using it. Libraries back home are certainly not like this one. Highly recommend.
This library is beautiful: as in a movie. Large rooms, and in addition one can sit there and consult the books.
I hesitated between 3 and 4 stars, but I thought it would be quite hypocritical to put 3 knowing that I come back regularly.
In positive, a very very large collection, always what is needed, in the most varied fields; quite calm and comfortable, I have always been able to read / work without being embarrassed; hours until late evening.
In negatives, sometimes very long waiting to return (although with a little flexibility, we can avoid waiting lines); users not always very respectful of the cleanliness and functionality of the toilet; exorbitant prices in the cafeteria.
