Man, oh man..... First off this place said they were pet friendly, but had to change the room I requested because dogs aren't allowed in the South tower. There were ants all over the room and a gross puke stain on the carpet. There is no suitable pool area, just this tiny I door pool. The hall way smells like a fish market.... Just don't bother!!!! I better get my pet deposit back.
The hotel was nice but are room smelled like marijuana so bad only got about an hour sleep
The hotel is older but is tidy. The casino is small but perfect for the quiet ambience and no wil people. All you can eat lobster was amazing.
The food at Mel's diner was pretty decent, my daughter had a great time at the arcade as well
All you can eat lobster loved it will be back again
My girlfriend brought my daughter and I to play games and ride rides. Staff was very friendly. Environment was great. My daughter had a good time.
Service was very good, helpful staff. The rooms we had in the South Tower had been renovated so they were very nice, however the casino and public areas reeked of cigarette smoke...far worse than any hotel, casino I have ever been to.
Took the family up to the snow and ended up at Boomtown. Very nice staff...very helpful and the family enjoyed dinner at Mel's diner then let the kids play in the kids room. They loved it....had a very good time. :)
Man haven't been to Boomtown in years and has this placed improved in fact the whole place is awesome
Nice and clean room, water in the room was free. The staff was pleasant.
This place what not very clean, stingy with their toiletries. Another complaint I had was some of the wall outlets were broken, Otherwise the bedding was very clean and the pillows were the best as was the bed. We had a very comfortable stay.
I can't beleive i was there for vacations and had a room key and got arrested for not showing them my id trespassing charges wow horrible management and staff security coming at me while im taking money out kiosk machine without showing security badge or uniform needs better management and security with actual badges and uniform
Nice rooms and surper comfortable beds!
Great casino and super food deals whole weekdays! Perfect location for skiing purposes. Great price!
I was sick during our trip to boomtown. Was having a drink at the bar. Apparently "looked like i was drunk" then was harassed by security threatened and then told to leave the hotel because i was 86ed.... Even though i had already paid for 3 more days. Won't be going back
Was very disappointed with the care I received. Had to carry my bags to my room and back out too my truck. The buffet was expensive, and not very good. I'll "bet" I get a ton of junk mail from them selling my information to. Next time I'll save my money for the poker tables.
Room provided fridge and microwave. Fancy bathrooms
Gracie went above and beyond for us. She is truly amazing.
Terrible Wi-Fi with lots of problems. The lobster buffet was trash. The lobster was so tough it could have been a dog toy. And Mel's Diner is just average.
Horrible!!! $36 for seafood buffet and it was horrible. I will never eat there again!! Don't waste your money.
Food is great, best feature is the family entertainment center, great spot for kidos.
Hello, I am one who does not put bad reviews very often unless I need to in order to warn others about a certain establishment. I have been a patron of Reno/Northern Nevada for over 15 years solid! Boomtown used to be one of my main places to go. Service has always been subpar but it had it's charm in a way. However, as of this year especially after the COVID-19 mandated shutdown, you'd think they'd go out of their way to maintain their customer base. However, what I learned is Boomtown does not recognize loyalty or gaming activity. They do what they want and how they want and show no regard for the customer. Details are as follows: Much of the staff changed but not all. However, even the old staff that I used to respect has also gone down hill. The worst hire they have made lately is a lady named Haley at the front desk. She is a front desk supervisor. She was the start of ruining it for me. I then spoke to the GM Rob Medeiros and he sounded like he actually cared. Upon our conversation, I was told by him that a host would call me so I can discuss my concerns farther and come up with a resolution. I got no call. Then called him again to remind him I never received a call and then a couple of days ago I walked in with intent to get a room and gamble (giving it another chance). Upon my walking in and putting my card in the machine, I got $10 free play when my flyer with valid dates showed I should have $20. After the host called me finally after leaving Ron a second message, she said they reduced it as management reserves all rights to modify or cancel promotions without prior notice. I was also told that my gaming activity doesn't validate a comped room however, My flyer has me on 3 free nights per month. What was once a good place is now a deceptive, lying establishment who does not care about their customers. It's either that or they are discriminatory. So let's go with the first one. However, I have seen with my own eyes, folks who gamble 25% of what I do get whatever they want. I saw their flyer and my code is higher than theirs so I will have this checked into by the proper entities as I do not see fair and impartial treatment regardless of race as one of their policies. So the names of the people thus far who you want to beware of are Haley, Marcia, Ron Medeiros, Spike, Dave (front desk supervisor) and Karin. Those are the names I have for now. More experiences of sad nature. Ever ordered a bagel with cream cheese then get your bagel and they say sorry there is no cream cheese, I hope that is ok. Do you want a burger without the meat? Similar comparison. If you decide to check in, check the floor, sinks and shower for blobs of hair as it is usually the case. I never complained about that as it takes a lot for me. I grab toilet paper and flush the hair down the toilet, wash my hands and move on. SO TAKE ME SERIOUSLY ON THE ABOVE FOR ALL OF YOU READERS! Now for better news, Boomtown isn't the only place in the Reno area. Nugget, El Dorado row, Peppermill, Atlantis and Carson City NV are much much better! They treat you right and recognize loyalty. Boomtown thinks they are the only place. They are the smallest and dirtiest and have no concept of customer service. Now Don't get me wrong, Reno is not known for it's cleanliness but all of the other places are amazing compared to this place. It breaks my heart having to put an honest to goodness review like this because I used to like Boomtown. Prior to the pandemic it was going downhill but especially afterwards. READ OTHER REVIEWS and you'll see many of them have the same complaints as mine. I have 6 friends who go there per my recommendation and as of last night I sent a group text advising them to take their business elsewhere and to where. So Boomtown lost me along with 6 others. I highly advise if you want to have a good time and be treated right, go elsewhere such as the ones I put above. I want you to have the time of your life so GO ELSEWHERE! TRUST ME ON THIS. :)
Very good for the price. Good comps in the casino. To many children running around
All the employees here are super friendly. The room was really nice and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. My knly
Went for a breakfast meeting, great breakfast as always.
The girl at behind the desk, Amanda, was a huge help. I had a problem and she handled it like a boss. If she's not one, she should be!
We ate Mel's and loved it like always. The wait staff is nice and attentive, and food is always good. Two thumbs up from us
The resort is located about a couple miles out of downtown Reno. The rooms of the resort have two beds and a restroom. The people of the resort are alright and they are positive, and do their jobs well.
Great buffet, great place for kids, appealing to the eye
Clean rooms, good food at Mel's diner. Overcharged for the room but the desk will take care of that at check out.
Went to the kids fun zone. A great deal. Also are at Mel's Cafe and that was delicious.
Rubbery lobster, okay buffet buy for the price. Also not much selection on tables either. Strong scent of smoke everywhere.
Boomtown Reno's Best Western Hotel is excellent. Very, very nice place to stay, dine and gamble in the casino.
Stayed over after family gathering, found the hotel to be very nice, staff was great at check-in, hotel is located at casino, which had good restaurants and lounges, also has great buffet, rooms were comfortable and clean, nothing fancy, but very nice for nights stay, didn't have free breakfast, but Mels diner in casino was very good, would recommend
3.99 buffet is pretty worth it. Food was above average and all you can eat for $4 is great. Casino is a bit dead though. Use went to eat and leave
Boomtown is great, the lobby is pretty, the rooms are nice. With the arcade and slots it's fun for the whole family. I wouldn't given it 5 stars, but I hate the smell of cigarettes (not the hotel's fault)
I would give the hotel portion a 4 star rating.. the room was nice and clean.. very spacious..nice staff. Now for the Kid's Fun Center it's a different story thus the reason for the 2 star rating.. it was very very hot in there especially when having to wear masks it was difficult for my kids to keep them on because it was so hot. Most of the games are outdated. The mini golf course could use some work as well. The women's bathroom that is located in the Fun Center needs to be cleaned more often. There was paper towels all over the floor and in 1 stall there was human waste all over the toilet seat. I brought my kid's there for my birthday weekend because it was something that my late grandmother would do for my brother's and I when I was young and I was disappointed at the condition.
Outstanding place to stay when visiting Reno NV. Loved it!!
Well I was at that casino strictly to gamble but I left because I wasn't getting anywhere with the machines I like to play
Love this hotel and they were awesome for Pet travel as well. our Dog loved the staff here.
***Identity theft by employee's at the registration desk and in reservations. Thousands of identities have been stolen for credit cards and store credit using customers registration and credit card information at check in. I've gone in person with this information and nothing has been done!! Stay anywhere but here!!! They don't care. I've seen these credit cards, they all get delivered to the boomtown employees personal residence under all the names of people who have stayed at this hotel! If these employees are investigated, they will find the credit cards mailed to them will match the names of people who have stayed at this hotel!!
BEST HOTEL AND KENO LOUNGE WE HAVE EVER PLAYED AND WE HAVE BEEN LOTS OF CASINOS AND THEIR KENO AREA IS LACKING OR NON EXISTING
Very nice, though we got there late and missed the buffet. (Closes at 9:00)
Only went to fun center. Which was a poor experience.. a large portion of their two player games did not work, which sucks since I was going with my niece to play the arcade games.
The food and service was excellent (It should be as you're paying 35.99 per adult for the lobster buffet). But I did have some minor complaints that no one else would likely complain about. There should be a no smoker area as even in the eating area where we were sitting we still had to inhale the awful smoke filled air which dried our throats and thus made eating slightly uncomfortable but the smell of the food overpowered the smoke so it was a little bit more bearable. Overall I would come again as the food was excellent but next time I hope to be in an area with less smoking fumes.
Mel s food is awful, may have made
Me sick. No other restaurants open. Most benefits advertised for resort fee unavailable on most weekdays
I got Food poisoning after crappy service and it ruined my trip to Reno. Avoid it at all cost.
Great value - a little remote from metro Reno (about 8 miles), but all amenities a traveler would need are easily accessible and close by. Fantastic views of the Sierras. I would stay here again!
Nice rooms but small. All amenities close at 9 p.m.
Restraunt inside of Casino for breakfast was very good, nice sized portions and very good service
Food at mels was great and place was very comforting
Great Steakhouse Restaurant!!! Excellent presentation and food and service! A pleasant surprise at a casino. We will come back just for that!!!
Great entertainment in the Guitar Lounge in the evening. Fun one night stay!
Would have given 5 stars cept i had last rm on the floor farthest from the elevator had to be 1/4 mile away thats all they had available i probably couldve pushed the issue but seeing my stay was comped i didnt nice little casino food good i recommend it to anyone
The arcade in Boomtown was a blast! Only downfall was the shortage of employees. Couldn't find anyone for help in reloading the cards with credits
Staff is very nice and attentive. Rooms are clean but nothing to make you excited but it serves its purpose. Its a casino so most really dont stay in the room too long. Kids area is fun and kids enjoyed it. Pool area is inside and seems so humid. Everytime we stay there the machines are so tight but its gambling.
Very convenient to stay for skier. 30min drive to Northstar, 24 hrs restaurant. The people are really nice and friendly. Will return next time.
Very nice hotel, great location, very safe, wonderful staff.
Girls night...we found the room pretty nice!
It was clean and decorated nice.We needed extra towels and coffee packs...they were delivered right away after a call.
Rooms are expensive but the fun center is great for the kids
Very nice suite, VERY large. Just old & understand they're going to remodel.
Small rooms but clean, WiFi is terrible, entire place smell like smoke
Very nice casino, went to see an event but sold out. Very nice atmosphere surrounded by beautiful landscape.
Just there to gamble and stop at Peet's for coffee and pastries. It was nice.
They have two towers with a minimum of 50 rooms on each floor. It has keno, food, and a casino. It also has restraints. One is a Mel's,Also they have a steak restraint. They have bars, bands. They have maids.
Look nice but. Never. Big winner jackpot
So. Good people. There work.
For as large and opulent as this place is it still it has a intimate atmosphere with very kind ,polite and efficient staff members working there.
Awesome customer service from start to finish and very clean establishment.
Have been to Boomtown for years and I'm hoping this time they stay with the hotel.
