Bit disappointed, after it changed hands it feels like it has lost a lot of personality and the menu is significantly reduced.
Food was good, but the hot drinks we had were a little tasteless.

Very comfortable & warm atmosphere with lovely welcoming staff. Good food, very healthy choices & well presented. Great to be able to relax with a book & enjoy a cup of excellent coffee. Would definitely recommend.

We went to Books & Beans for breakfast today. The decor of the cafe is lovely but the food and service were a real disappointment. They got one of our orders wrong and all six of us felt the pancakes were cold when they eventually arrived. The waitress seemed rushed whenever she was dealing with us. We won't be going back for breakfast anytime soon.

We came to enjoy a breakfast on the terrace of this very warm place: scones, sandwiches, and a wide selection of teas. An unpretentious place, very pleasant, and you are very well received!

Books and Beans is a great place to unwind - great coffee, lovely food, and absolutely tons of books to read! The staff are cheerful and helpful, and there is a very homely, cosy feel to the place. Highly recommended.

I visited books and beans yesterday for lunch and u have to say what a pleasant down to earth quirky place this is. I found all the staff very friendly indeed. Small touches like having bottled water prepared for customers to help themselves really count in my opinion. In a world of chain coffee shops and pretentious staff it was nice to just visit somewhere, be treated with an authentic smile and welcome. I ordered the books and beans club sandwich (meat version) and it did not disappoint. Excellent portions with a side salad (which perhaps could have done with a dressing or balsamic) and a really nice coffee. Upstairs is another seating area where this place really comes to life in my opinion. All the second hand books for sale and the hidden area round the back. Just brilliant. The owners must be very proud of this little jewel.

The staff on the second floor were lovely, provided me with all the information I could have possibly needed and were so friendly and polite genuine people. However upon going downstairs I have to say I was a little disappointed, staff seemed to take ages to take my order when all I wanted was a small latte, but I felt like because I wasn't dressed like a member of greenpeace that I didn't get the service the people in front of me did. No smile, not the service I would expect from anyone. So quite disappointed to be honest but still a nice clean place.
