Boardwalk Beach Resort Review

Came here with my girlfriends family, looked like an average hotel, everything looked nice or average. But the second day of staying we found bedbugs in almost all the beds, the pools had dead bugs, hair, and god knows what else in them, not to mention the Murphy bed had blood stains and other stuff on it

We stayed there from August 14, 2015 to August 16, 2015. Where do I start... FALSE ADVERTISING!! The pictures on the website are nothing like what the room actually looks like. There was no lock on the sliding door to the balcony, nor was there a fire escape plan posted anywhere in the hotel room, which I am pretty sure that is a violation of some safety code. There was also no fire extinguisher in the kitchen area. The elevator was not working properly, nor was there any indication that it had been inspected, which, again, I am pretty sure that is a violation of a safety code. The tub was very dirty. The television was extremely small and old. My husband had to fix it so we could watch it. Parking spaces are hard to find. We almost had to park down the street from the building we were staying in. The indoor pool in our building was closed and they didn't even give us pool bands so that we could use the pools in the other buildings. The people at the front desk were rude and they have a ridiculous $100 deposit that they tried to make me pay for my husband because he is under 25. Thankfully, I didn't have to pay it because I am 26. All in all, it is a horrible place to stay while at Myrtle Beach, SC and I will NEVER stay there again. Please take heed to this review and other negative reviews that have been previously posted. I'm pretty sure it's the horrible employees that are posting the positive ones.

Not well kept.. needs facelift in elevator and rooms

This place was alright to stay at. The front desk lady never told me on the phone you have to have a $200 deposit if your not 25 years old or older, so drove there then she told me so we had to leave again to go get money out of the bank cause it had to be in cash. No floats are allowed in the pool. Pools closed at 6pm. Rooms are kinda outdated. Fireworks right in front of the hotel was shot off all night long. Shower kept getting hot and then cold mostly cold the whole time.

Clean rooms and great lighting on the beach in the evening.

Was very disappointed in my stay room was out of date people smoking marijuana in motel the smell was unbearable you know the staff knew but no one done anything about it was unclean asked for extra blankets was told by staff there is no one here tonight at this time to get you any room was not what it shows on web page I went to check out no one was in office it was closed they still have old regular keys so easy to lose and the will charge you for a key like 5 dollars overall I will never stay again or recommend anyone to ever bring there kids there wish it was different but it wasn t

This is a basic place in a very charming area, perfect if you're only sleeping here.

We had no problems when we stayed, I have absolutely no complaints about this vacation or anything else in regards to the resort. I LOVED the beach was right out back, we had ocean front view, pools were clean, staff was welcoming. The resort is right in the middle of everything, plenty of restaurants, dollar stores good for quick grabs on stuff forgotten. We will be doing this again

The above review is from 2 years ago, I had also stayed in the main building that time.. this time my family and I stayed in the older building... What a DUMP. We were charged $76 for actual keys instead of a "card key" and we're going to be charged $1 each if we didn't return the wristbands they gave us to show we were guests there. They nickel and dime the hell out of everything. Our room was extremely out dated, a weird large orange-ish red stain on the bed, the kitchen cabinets n drawers look like they were exposed to lots of water and warped. there are 3 buildings I'm aware of and only 2 washers, 2 dryers AND no change machine, what sense does that make? None also the 4th floor is smoking.. was never told that. The receptionists are everything but friendly when even asking a simple question. 2nd stay here, it'll never happen again. Also.. the ceiling was cracked and the room was extremely outdated.

My husband and I have been staying here for years but this will be our last time due to the pitiful Custmer service that we endured. Our room was not ready at 2 o clock and I was told the other resorts check in time are 4 and I should be happy. We check in at 2:30 and after walking across the street to the office twice because the keys would not workmaintenance is here changing the whole lock on our door. Management refused to compensate for any inconvenience that was cause or time lost on our vacation. This is our wedding anniversary. Unfortunately there's no vacancies anywhere else so we are at the mercy of this craziness right now. This one star is only for the nice maintenance guy who knows more about customer service than the front desk.

The north tower is not the place to stay. The middle tower looked much nicer. We did not get the room we paid for. The room shown was clean with all white linens. The room we got was disgusting. Plus we got charged an extra 23 for a key fee and resort charge. Now i understand that covid is still going on but the pools were closed with beer cans floating in the bottom. So i am wondering what the fee was for. Not a pleasant experience.

This is quite possibly the worst hotel that I ve ever stayed in, and I travel often. The rooms, hallways, facilities, and just the hotel in general is filthy and needs to renovated or just knocked down. It took forever to get housekeeping to bring us towels. The pools were filthy and it didn t look like the filters were working at all. For the amount of money I spent on this room it definitely was not worth it and I will NEVER stay here again.

Me & my wife stayed in a beach front condo with an excellent view of the Atlantic. Our condo was very clean & well maintained . Perfectly located to everything with in walking distance. Will definitely make this our go to place .

Great locale, we ended up on the fourth floor which apparently is a smoking floor. Our room was presentable, appeared clean, great ocean view. Then our infant started crawling on the carpet and his knees, the tops of his feet & his hands turned black. Quite disturbing actually. The price was right and it was only one night. We'd definitely stay there again.

Kind of expensive, got the south tower and it was kind of old.

I loved the room , I had the king size room in the north tower with partial ocean view. The bathrooms are very nice and clean. The room was in great condition. The house keeper cleaned the room everyday of out stay which was nice. We had fresh towels everyday. The balcony is small. We stayed in the nonsmoking hotel so it was pretty quiet and peaceful. The elevator was warm inside but it didn't really matter. There weren't enough hotel carts for luggage. The only pool I thought was clean was the 4ft - 8ft in front of the north tower, I liked the lazy river but it needs to be cleaned more and I liked the jacuzzi. keep in mind that they give you a wristband for the pool per person. The beach is literally right infront of the hotel. There is tables and beach chairs to relax on by the hotel, perfect for tanning. There is plenty of parking , they have on site parking and a parking garage . I would stay here again .

Roaches and only God knows what else... my family all have bites from the unknown. Front desk said roaches don t bite then you have something other than a roach problem . Hoping the GM, Jay Patrick, makes this right. I have pictures of the bugs and the bites...

Nice and in your price range and go to the main building and ask for a suite or the penthouse very nice rooms and regular rooms are to in the main building

This place is disgusting. There is mold growing out of the cracks of the wall, the air conditioning is broken and it smells. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else.

My family and I stayed at the Boardwalk resort and the photos in the ad are beyond deceiving!!!!! The lobby smelled like garbage and while we were walking to our room I was really and truly expecting to see crime tape somewhere. I asked the clerk at the front desk for a do not disturb card to hang on our door, they told me they didn't have those so we would have to write on a piece of paper and tape a note to our door!! Are you freakin kidding me! And never mind the fact they charged my credit card three times the amount. Oh yea and how about when we got home from our horrible stay we found out someone stole our credit card info and we had transactions being charged after we had left 2 days later!!! DO NOT I repeat DO NOT stay here!!!!!!! This place is horrible!!!!!!!

I Dont Go To The Boardwalk Hotel Every Year But Its Decent Its And Its More Closer To The Strip That The Good Thing About It .

Very conviently located both at the beach and close to pedestrian friendly restaurants and activities .stayed here over March break and did get a little loud with college students but nothing too out of the norm. Would consider staying here again in the future.

Can't even describe how horrible the room. Found 2 cockroaches, Shawn the guest relations wasn't friendly at all and bad odor throughout the building and room. Also when I was going to get to my room, someone else is occupying the room already which is creepy.

I am awaiting my checkout time. I must say, I am very displeased. There are roaches crawling all over, mold, dust, very outdated as if I was in the 80's. Asked to change room had to pay over 100dollars to have that change. Will NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN. Rooms and pictures online look nothing alike

This was the worst stay I ever encountered due to paying over 1000 just for two night with ocean front view but it was a walking in special so they say I wouldn't even give them no stars roaches was crawling pots nd utensils was very nasty which we bought paper plates nd cups upon leaving phone kept ringing before check out asking was we staying an additional night which I said no nd hung up the phone elevator doors opening before even getting to the floor hot hallways the smell was horrible nd then the couch that was in the living room was already stained nd they charge me $200 for a stain after I had already checked out that was already in there when we arrived while steeping out the elevator the manager which was very rude was asking the housekeeper was we gone nd we was already leaving she was the most nastiest manger I encountered I will never stay there again nd I will tell anybody who's planning on staying there to bypass this motel it's not worth the hassle or the money they charge never again I should have read the reviews like I normally do

The room was really nice. I could stay a few times over, but I got bit by bed bugs or sand fleas. I'm confident it was bed bugs though.

Well first of all I give no stars to the welcoming committee they will piss you off an turn it around an make you feel like the criminal at fault here. Ronda the manager is not an honest person.. I first talk to her July 11 because I had cancelled my res 30 min after I made them They was going to keep 15 of my deposit which most all do down here now but she refunded it anyway. I thought that was nice of her. Two weeks prior of arrival my other res I had made with the Polynesia I cancelled I didn't realize they are the worst motel at myrtle beach. So I called the boardwalk back an rescheduled my reservation they have very good rates I did speak to Ronda again an she was nice and spoke of me bringing two cars she said sure not a problem. On my day of arrival we called ahead to do early check in my wife spoke to someone she didn't remember it being Ronda but any way they called us back saying we could check in. Nice. On checking in I remembered the reviews on hiding fees. It is 5 for each card key an the stupied one one dollar for each wrist band for pools Really????? I have small kids us think I might lose one???? One lady said the other hateful one well we could sell them to outsiders an swim for free. Really???? Here at the beach. Guess what no one is at pools checking anyways so they may make a few more dollars if you lose something. My point is on parking. They have plenty but on weekends if you have one more car you will hafta pay park it with myrtle beach. Now Ronda didn't tell me that she said nothing of that on phone an intact ever talking to me weeks prior. I put my conversation on my phones notes it dates when I make an entry. I had her name. I tried to tell her if I hadn't spoken to her how did I know her name. She said my wife had just called her. My wife didn't know who she spoke too. Ronda called me pretty much a liar. That really piss me off. Anyway the resort is nice. It's not really fancy but for the money it's not bad. Oh btw I was offered to leave if I didn't like what was told to me. Ah my 4 kids an wife I shut up. It wasn't worth it. They just get you in a bad mood at check in.

Electrical issues, needs to be updated inside and out.

The room had been renovated and was very clean. The staff and room service was great.

Visited during the July 4th weekend 2016. Made prior reservations way ahead of time. Put in wrong room and they refused to fix their mistake. Customer service is very crappy. Manager was so disrespectful (Jen) when asked for a high authority she told me she was the only one I could speak with. Room was old and dated. Carpet was nasty had to wear our shoes most of the time. Niether ice machine was working (our floor or main floor)(and its the 4th). First morning of our stay maintenance was in the room behind us drilling and beating on the walls (9am). No air moving in the building (Stay far away from NORTH building) Side View of ocean is literally hanging off the balcony hoping you don't fall to your death. The side walk and roads was so busy and full of random people our building outside lights are burned out making it hard to see our vehicals and for parking as well as safety leaving and entering the building. When asked for a do not disturb sign was told oh we don't have those...? Really? I don't want your maids that can barely speak English in my room.. (it was hard to get clean towels because they didn't understand me) water pressure is awful (took about a hour to fill the tub so I could give my baby a bath). Couch bed in room I would be deathly afraid to open, the arms of couch are filthy and cushions are worn. Our outlets in bathroom do not work. Trash cans inside and outside over flowing with garbage. Only get one key to your room. I would say stay far away from this place!

The center building "the new building" nice, new and clean. Close to everything. The only resort with lights on the beach at night. I go armed all the time so I always feel safe. But they have a couple of security guards walking the property from dusk till dawn.

Stayed in main tower. Rooms were ok but WAY overpriced. One PTAC unit in our suite did not work, making it very cold in one area and too warm in another. Housekeeping was good. DO NOT BOOK IF YOU WANT PEACE AND QUIET BY THE POOL!!! Day or night, it did not matter, the pool was over run with unsupervised kids and young adults. We were hoping for a nice romantic getaway. All I wanted was to relax by the pool and read my book. It was impossible!!! The pool under the tower echoed so badly with screaming and yelling people, there was no peace, ever!! It didn't matter the time of day. The lazy river was infested with people of all ages not following the rules. Utterly chaotic at all times. We stayed during the first week of August, hoping it would not be so busy. We were wrong. Others have told us they stayed there as well with the same issues. We won't book there again due to the price and lack of control over guests at the pools.

Place needs to be updated to the times we live in. From the bedspread to the blow drawer to the carpet is from the 60s. There weren't any roaches or bed bugs so I won't be too harsh. Update to the present times we live in. Or drop your rates

Super run down, close to the ocean but the rooms are out dated

When we arrived check in took forever. The staff at the front are rude. We we finally got to our room, two hours after arriving, it was dirty, pillows and sheets were missing, and the water in the bathtub wouldn't work when you put it on shower. I had to go buy bleach to Clean the tub as there was a ring around the bath and dirt in the bottom. The water came out super slow for the bath as well. When it was time to clean our room the housekeeper asked if we wanted it cleaned, we said yes and when we arrived back that night it was still dirty. So we had to go back across the street with four children to get clean towels, washcloths, and sheets. Then the lady at the front said each room was only allowed a certain amount of items, which I understand, but we didn't even get what was originally supposed to be there!!! She then told us they didn't have any clean towels which I felt was a lie. Horrible stay and this is the place we stay EVERY TIME we visit. They lost a few loyal customers.

Do NOT stay at this hotel if you book through a booking site. The manager told me that they put you in the old tower NOT the one you see in the photos. The rooms, halls and elevators were dirty, stained & smelled. I could not in good conscience let my children stay there. BEWARE... All good reviews are from the main tower

Location is great as it's at beach front. Rooms are spacious, decent but not very clean.

I stayed here this past weekend in the jacuzzi oceanfront suite in the main building. I must say after reading the reviews here i was tempted to cancel my reservation, but I'm glad I didn't. Pricing was reasonable, the room was very clean as well as the linen. The outside grounds were also clean, and they make sure to clean the pools and areas around the pool daily. I loved the jacuzzi tub in the room, the free wifi, and that they clean your room doing your stay. The only drawbacks for me was the long check in and out process, the deposit for pool bands and room keys, and that the pool opened at 10. Also there is only one car allowed for parking per room. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay. I definitely would book here again.

Overall the stay was good, location was great and the ocean view was a plus. The hot tubs and pools were very nice and comfortable and staff was friendly. Unfortunatley our door wouldn't fully latch in our suite causing somewhat cold nights, and the unsoft blankets didn't help. The walls are super thin and we could constantly hear what was going on in the hall/ rooms above and beside us. Balcony stunk of weed which eventually got in the room. The TV in our bedroom sucked, almost all channels were so fuzzy you couldn t even watch. Also not all the jets worked in the jacuzzi tub.

I made a reservation for June 22-24,2018 for 4 adults. When I arrived I was shocked. The room I saw online was nothing like what I walked into. I specifically asked about a pull out couch when booking the room. The room they gave me didn't have it. I was moved to the main building, which was much newer. I got my pull out couch and a better room. Saturday as we prepared for bed we saw a hug crawling on the covers. I called guest services and they refused to call their manager. I was the 3rd family to come in to complain about the issue on the same night Worst birthday weekend ever. I will never stay here again.

This place is not worth the money. The hallways are dingy and the elevators are hot. Our ocean view suite had roaches and one of the beds was broken. The carpets were the worst I've ever seen. We were in the main, which turned out to be the "best" of the towers. We had family also stay in the north tower and incredible enough it was worse!! The pool areas are too small to accommodate the amount of people that stay there. The worst part was the lazy river. There was no one managing it. It was too crowded. Kids were fighting for flotation devices, pushing and shoving past everyone. This was not a resort, except for it's size, it's barely above very cheap motel status.

The hotel was wonderful, and clean just a little outdated. My family of 5 and I enjoyed it ! Staff was great !

Poor, dirty was not what's was advertised. No card key, only regular house key which didn't open door. Had to go across the street to the office 3 times before front desk gave me a key that actually opened the door. NEVER AGAIN!

Oh and porch door did not lock! SMH UGH

This hotel was one of the few in Myrtle beach that accommodates under 21 year olds. My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for three nights. We checked in the first night quickly with the awesome help of the front desk they were very kind. Since we were under 21 there is a 200$ deposit due at check in, we expected this because we read the conditions. There is the main tower which is updated, the north tower, and the two south towers. We stayed in the north tower which is probably the oldest hotel I have stayed in. If given the chance to stay there again, I would defiantly spend a little more and stay at the main tower. Our room was CLEAN and bug free which is all I could really ask for. Everything was just a little outdated which is what you would expect out of an old hotel. It is very close to the beach and they have many pools available. Every time we wanted to go to the pool it was too crowded. There is also no front entrance to our building which I thought was strange. You have to enter from a side entrance and use really old elevators. We didn't need house keeping at all because they came at 12 and we had cleaned up by then. There isn't a 'no housekeeping sign' available the house keepers said to improvise and to make your own. But we stayed fully stocked with towels and all the essentials thanks to the awesome ladies. We got our deposit back and checked out in under ten minutes! But if you are an early bird beware because you cannot get your deposit back the (200$ for being under 21) before 9 am. Which wasn't an issue for us at all. Overall you get what you pay for and it was a great time at decent resort. But next time I would pay a little extra to feel more comfortable.

Sheets were dirty and there were no towels and wash clothes. Management couldn't give us replacements because the laundry was closed.

Staff is not nice at times, however for the price you get what you pay for. If you re not staying in the middle tower try to get moved. Both the towers to either side are the decrepit and nasty.

Only thing good about this hotel was the location/view. It is oceanfront. Rooms are nasty, dirty and out of date. Several areas of torn and stained carpet. Hallways are filthy . Very loud. Pool dirty, trash everywhere. Staff did not try to fix any problems when pointed out to them. Should have paid a little extra and stayed elsewhere. Will never be back.

Nicer than I thought, really nice pools and hot tub.
