There is no where in the world like Boar's Head Resort. Truly an cultivated experience that time and time again is able to impress and curate memories that will certainly last a lifetime. The attention to detail of the resort and the level of care differentiates Boar's Head and aligns with the value in getting what you pay for. The Resort's Manager James is one of the kindest and most accommodating people you will ever meet. He takes it as his personal responsibility to ensure guests have an excellent experience and will do anything it takes to make sure it's a fantastic trip. I can't say enough about his vibrant energy and kindness, he truly is one of the best parts of the stay - and that's saying a lot! I can't recommend Boar's Head enough.
Beautiful resort and top notch service! Jim, the Host in the restaurant, is awesome! Beautiful grounds and very interesting hotel. Highly recommend staying here.
Our stay at Boar's Head was a wonderful experience. The staff was more than accommodating. We arrived into town earlier than expected and they were able to get us checked into our room early. After checking in we headed over to the Birdwood golf course for lunch where we enjoyed a meal on their covered patio overlooking the course. The precautions the team has taken for COVID made my wife and I both feel comfortable and safe during our stay. Even though it was raining we took full advantage of their beautiful hiking trails. The resort is located close to all the fun things Charlottesville has to offer. We look forward to returning for another stay in the future.
A Charlottesville tradition. Looks the same today as when we had our wedding reception there 33 years ago.
Absolutely amazing. We booked the room last minute and got the last available room and we were not disappointed. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the room was beyond my expectations. My only complaint was the lack of mini-fridge but most hotels are doing away with this feature so it isn't a huge deal. We will definitely be coming back for an extended stay to enjoy the rest of the resorts amenities.
The service was excellent and the staff was very nice. The scenery is breathtaking.
Phenomenal establishment....Unbelievable service. Food out of this world. Facility is beautiful. Cant believe i waited this long to go. Will definetely stay here again...need to have more time
I went to the Boar's Head for a cocktail hour for a wedding event and it was a beautiful location with great drinks.
Beautiful and well kept grounds, lots of amenities, attentive and kind staff and cozy rooms. Felt like a home away from home! Was visiting for a wedding but would love to come back when I can walk the grounds and enjoy the sitting areas more.
Very nice place. Although there was remodeling going on, it was still very nice.
Went here for restaurant week and wasn't all that impressed.
Loved this place. Was in the area for work drop off the family then I returned later. Had a beautiful view over looking the lake. Kids loved the pools. Dinner at the grill was a bit pricey but was good. Some buildings were closed for renovations, I ll be back once there done. Walked the nature trail around the lake, hotel employees in a golf cart tried to run me over. Beautiful area, but pricey
Under renovations, so expect some of what that entails, but the property is unique, well located and staffed by great humans.
Came for brunch. Egg Benedict was sub par. I really felt the scrambled eggs were not from fresh eggs. BBQ pulled pork was ok. Didn't like the coleslaw at all.
Attended a focus group at the facility. Rooms and general facilities were very nice- everything seemed above my pay grade but... inviting nonetheless. Staff were helpful and dressed appropriately. The grounds are beautiful- wish i had more time to look around. If i were into golfing, gift shops or spending $50 for a plate I'd definitely come back.
Love Boars head. We have stayed twice and both times did not disappoint. Gorgeous scenery and nice clean facilities. Spa was great as well. The only thing I will say (i wish there was a half star, so I could give this 4.5), the upscale restaurant needs to step up their game for the prices they are charging. Other than that, fantastic and their are other great places to eat in the area.
This place was incredible! My wife and I went here for our babymoon and we loved it. Two minor issues kept us from giving it three stars: 1. The main restuarant is under renovation. Once it's open, we'll definitely be back! 2. We loved the outdoor lap pool- in fact, it's why we booked here. However, the swim club uses most of the lanes for a large portion of the day (weekdays). If there was a lane (even just one) reserved for adults at all times, I probably would give this a five. Like I said, it's pretty minor, but since it was one of the compelling reasons we booked here, I felt the need to account for it in my rating.
Beautiful resort with lots of activities and a serene atmosphere. Close to downtown Charlottesville east and the blue ridge mountains west.
Beautiful campus, friendly staff. Here for work conference, but price seemed reasonable.
We went for restaurant week. It was a very fancy atmosphere, but the staff was friendly and attentive. The food was very good, I got the salmon, which was cooked very well. My girlfriend got the tenderloin, which was very tender and tasty. Dessert was great too. The price is a bit high, and although the food was good I have had better for the price. Overall you'll pay a lot, but will enjoy dinner.
We stayed 2 nights at the Boars Head Inn for my birthday this past winter. We had such a lovely time! On our first night we were surprised with a plate of chocolate covered strawberries, candy, and other goodies, expertly presented on an impressive gold plate. Lovely room, helpful and pleasant staff, great accomodations (what kind of mattress???) Great sleeping. The Only disappointment was that because of the renovation, we could not eat at the resort's restaurant!!! We had eaten there once before, and I still talk about that meal!! Well, needless yo say, we will be back, and thank you for such a beautiful time.
We visited the boars head inn tennis courts for a tournament. The facility was clean, well run, and had fun things for siblings to do while waiting. The rock wall was a big hit!
Nice resort, but now it's so spread out, you may have to walk from another building to get to the main Inn. Suggest that you ask for a room in the original inn or very near it. If not, you may end up walking outside, through buildings, hallways, steps, to get to their excellent breakfast or dinner.
Very secluded but next to the city. Staff very nice. Applied for a job and got it.
Small room room 212 No bell hop service this morning $15 to play tennis on hard courts
Stayed here multiple times. Top quality rooms and service.
Service is very nice and the staff is polite. The mood and food was good as well and I would recommend this place as a good place to a fancy dinner.
I attended an auction for my kid's school. The Boars Head ballroom was a perfect venue for the event.
I've been to the spa twice now, both times it has been amazing! The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
I was there to take part in World Masters Squash tournament, amazing experience. One of the best sporting facilities ever. Great location, very high standard facility and superb service.
Beautiful location, especially the pond. The food is a little pricey but the staff is friendly. Great spot for a conference.
Fantastic inn, with golf and sports facilities by a gorgeous tiny lake
This is Really amazing place to stay!! Beautiful environment with every thing u need!!
First visit after major renovations. Food in the Mill Room was first rate and the seating on the new patio a delight. But where's the old Boar that used to greet us at the front door? Bring back the Boar!
Highly recommended. Site, staff, spa, gym, even the yoga teacher was great. Only issue is that you can hear every noise from the corridors and adjacent rooms.
Only ran the turkey trot there but it seemed really nice very friendly staff.
Outstanding pickleball tournament was held here a couple of weekends ago. We live the accommodations as well as the delicious food.
Beautiful views, delicious food, and fiendly customer service make Boar's Head Inn one of my favorite places for meetings, lunches, and quiet walks.
It's at a great proximity to UVA. Comfortable rooms. A bit pricey. Great business facilities. Spotty wifi
Check in was easy. It was a little odd that or room wasn't quite ready since it was after the check-in time, but room was in great condition. Sports Club and pools are included with Tom and are excellent. Large workout facility. Overall the resort is a great value
The Boar's Head has always been dear to my heart, but my recent experience has made me unlikely to go back. I took my daughters and my wife for a casual birthday dinner n the grill room. My girls ordered a salmon cobb salad and a cheeseburger and my wife a crab cake sandwich. I had seafood pasta. Our bill was $158 dollars. We had 4 glasses of house chardonnay and two sodas to drink. The burger was ordered medium and came well done. The cobb salad had mixed greens and a piece of salmon on top of it - no egg, bacon, avacado or any other things one would expect to see on a cobb salad. My pasta was completely unseasoned. There was no bread offered, no accompaniment of any kind for a $26 pasta dish. The service was friendly, but certainly nothing to write home about. So, I understand that high prices are the cost of a luxurious setting, but if I am going to pay the price, the food and service should be remarkable, and they were not.
amazing place. very beautiful club with great squash courts, tennis and golf. One of the most beautiful places I've ever been.
I m giving it two stars simply for the scenery and the very nice waitress & bartender at the Mill Room. When we checked in, a guest that was leaving was speaking to the person at the desk about their air conditioning. I should have taken that as a warning. The AC in our room was so so loud, and not the white noise kind of loud. It was constant, loud rattling. Tried to use towels to buffer the noise to no avail. We were in room 216, which was right above the lobby. The music from the lobby blared all night. We put in for a callback to the front desk at about 11 pm and didn t hear back. The noise was so bad that we ended up leaving and driving back home (one hour away) at midnight. Other than the noise, the room felt more like a $100/night motel than a $300+/night historic inn. It smelled musty, there was hair in the sink and shower and the windowsills had dead bugs. There was also cleaning equipment left strewn about the hallway something I wouldn t expect from a resort that calls itself luxury. The tiles in the shower were cracked and starting to mold. The Mill Room was okay. The waitress we had was amazing. The ambiance needs work, though. Felt more like an Olive Garden. This resort needs a huge overhaul of the rooms. They desperately need to be cleaned better. I m glad I live within driving distance and had only booked a night. Do not recommend.
Farmington Hunt Club event was handled well. Catering excellent.
Needs updating (and is presently undergoing renovations); however, good good food!
Very nice place. Only spent a night for a wedding and it was so hot outside that I didn't get out to really explore the resort, but everything went super smooth at check in and check out and everyone was very nice.
Attended semi annual professional board meeting. The meeting room was lovely. Beverages and lunch were provided and, as always, were beautifully arranged and very tasty. Serving staff was courteous and professional. The board members seemed pleased.
Nice resort, first class and great modern rustic decor.
It's extremely disappointing trying to reach your establishment with ZERO success. I tried calling and have sent two contact request through your website and no one had enough courtesy to respond. Extremely poor customer service. Hope my parent's do not end up having the same experience when they stay with you all.
Only stayed at the pavilion and parts of the resort were under construction. Very nice area set up for dining.
Love this place! Rustic Classy. Great staff. Beautiful room (water pressure not so good) Restaurant is expen$ive !!!
I had a very pleasent dining experience. The food and service were both top notch.
I've been to Boars Head many times over the past few years for dinners and cocktail receptions. I have never had a bad experience with the food, staff, or any of the amenities. Great spot that I would recommend to anyone.
Lovely resort!! Great room turndown when returned from an evening out.
Location, atmosphere, service, and food were all incredible. We only stopped for dinner and drinks, but we will be booking an overnight stay soon.
Great food and staff, let alone nice courts inside and out
The food is fantastic, albeit pricey. The buffet is top quality. Great service, too.
Very nice place to visit. Beautiful scenery, comfortable bed, and spacious rooms.
Went to the car show. It was ok, not enough muscle cars though. BBQ served under a tent. Not much of a smoky flavor and the lady taking the orders could barely speak English. Not ideal for 39.00 worth of food
Great place to play on a trip to Charlottesville. Offers government rates. Good places on premises to eat and many rooms have patios which are great for an evening cigar.
Absolutely wonderful. Stayed here on my wedding night, and I couldn't have been happier. The rooms was spacious and very well-kept. The decor suited Charlottesville perfectly, and was a welcome reminder of my days at UVa. The room we stayed in (620) had a gorgeous view of the pond, and a balcony on which to enjoy our excellent room-service breakfast! I can't overstate how excellent the stay was.
The room used for the event was excellent. It was hard to figure out where to go due to construction, but that is temporary.
Great place to stay in Charlottesville. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Thank you.
Blown away by this place! Everyone was super helpful! From the main desk who checked us in early and called us when our room was ready, to the tennis front desk who showed us around the indoor courts and clay courts, this place was the best! We also used the driving range before we left, and a bucket of balls was super satisfying to just chip away at! We have free courts in our city, but now I'm super spoiled. Even with the construction and everything, none of that bothered us. The food at all of the places was really good, etc. (Racquets, etc.). Not a long drive into Charlottesville.
Had bed bugs, had to sleep in floor after reporting to the Front Desk. When checking out showed them the video and pictures with no apologies or redeemition but saying they will put the room out of order. Just very disappointed,
I had an amazing experience overal at this hotel the only downside was I felt extremely uneasy sleeping at this hotel ... I couldn't shake the feeling something or someone was in my room with me and had 4 nights of the worst sleep I honestly have had in a very long time.
The Boar's Head Resort is a beatiful property nestled in the hills of Charlottesville. Our overnight visit was to celebrate our mother's 80th birthday. We could not have been more pleased with the accommodations and the service during our stay. The food at the restaurant was masterfully prepared and our mother was treated like a queen. The Boar's Head Resort is an amazing place during the Christmas season. Dont miss a chance to enjoy this one!
Perfect location easy to find, large campus with excellent parking and staff, food was magnificent!
