Quality food & friendly service. I highly recommend the Bluegrass Kitchen. Fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection means you'll have to be patient--after all, it's not fast food.
We sat at the bar and the bartender was great. Service was on point and the food was delicious. Bf had the asparagus sandwich and the flavors were great.
I had the 1/2 pound burger with homemade pimento cheese. Delicious! Burger was cooked perfectly. Everything was great.
Food was good, more upscale home style than family budget, but portions are large. Staff was very friendly and while we didn't stay for the open mic, they had some musicians getting ready.
Yummy brunch food in a neat eclectic style cafe, delicious food, coffee, and desserts, very highly recommend the potatoes skins and blueberry pie! Wait staff was awesome :)
We went here for brunch on a Sunday after staying in Charleston for the night. The corned beef hash stack was to die for... so so good (and I'm not a huge fan of corned beef hash). It was more like brisket (perfectly crispy on the edges) served over a potato pancake with gravy on top. The sourdough toast served with it seems so basic but was also delicious. Staff was very friendly and we didn't have to wait at all to be seated. The ambiance is eclectic, a lot of art on the walls and great natural light coming through the windows. Definitely don't miss out on this one if you are in town.
I love the live music here. Food is good and servers are sweet. In here I feel connected to the art side of me which I don't always get to experience in my day to day life. Fair priced and a valued asset.
Was told they were out if good and could not be seated
Great GF options for celiac. Staff very knowledgeable. Food fresh and hot. Great service.
Charleston WV as we all know has a large Void in great eats, good eats, even mediocre eats. Its the only Capital city I have been to where all the food is awful. Bluegrass is Nooo diff, farm to table, high quality tasty food, Nope. People flock there bc there is literally No decent food in C-town, none, zilch, zero food. Wonder y theres no food theres no jobs, which politicians of the past 20 yrs do they blame. Go to the Station in Fayeville, WV near Beckley if u want a better version of farm to table.
They seemed nice, limited menu, closed early on day of vandalia festival
I like this restaurant. The service is always good and the food never disappoints. I had dinner here with my partner on a recent Friday eve. Jeff had the pork chops with sweet mashed potatoes and asparagus and liked it very much. I had the fish and chips which were served hot and delicious and a very good spinach salad with fresh vegetables, warm bacon and strawberry vinaigrette- yum!
Had the grilled pimento cheese... was amazing, and they have a solid beer list.
Never greeted and studiously ignored by the wait staff. Walked out without being seated. I spent my money elsewhere.
Awesome brunch, have had the corned beef hash & the shrimp & gritts, mimosas & bloody Marys, on different occasions. Always yummy!!! Just wish they still served lunch!
Great restaurant in Charleston that is perfect for visitors to the city. Many of the ingredients used are locally grown, raised, and processed. The food tastes wonderful and the restaurant is decorated with work from local artists. Often there is live music to help set the relaxed environment. A gem for the city!
Great food, lots of character to the place, good service. Healthy options.
Food is great, of the "non-GMO, locally sourced, organic" variety which can be rare to find in West Virginia. Live music is great and the amosphere warm. Lunch is a light crowd, making the experience more personal.
Great local restaurant with fantastic food and staff. The brunch on weekends is excellent. I highly recommend the shrimp and grits, amazing.
I've been a few times and have been very happy with my meal and the atmosphere! You can get a mimosa set with an entire bottle of champagne and pour it yourself! The shrimp and grits are very tasty!
Wish there was more vegan options, but our waitress was super sweet and the music was lovely in such a cute little town. Glad they use local and sustainable resources, so thank you for that <3
Food is decent and service is quick. Menu is a bit limited. They do allow alterations to the order to taste. Not a fan of the run down look inside. It's not inviting. It's pricey in my opinion.
The appetizer, entrees, beers, and dessert were all delicious. The server was on point and the gracious host even came over to wedge our table to a stable level when he noticed it was wobbling. We had the luck to sit next to 2 tables of interesting, friendly locals that gave us tips on places to visit while in town. The venue is offbeat, charming, and satisfying. (The beer cheese fondue, pickle-brined fried chicken, and blueberry pie-cake are all highly recommended.)
Absolutley fantastic. Great drinks. Food. Music. No complaints
The biscuit gravy was good. Biscuits were a tad hard. The potato pancake with the bene was good.
Excellent atmosphere the smoked gouda cheeseburger will have you coming back again and again
Beautiful art and great Mimosas! The potato skins did not disappoint.
Great Sunday brunch. I want to come back for dinner when they have live music. We had the corned beef stack and the shrimp and grits. Super.
Came here after my friend s graduation at University of Charleston! This spot was awesome! Our server Rose was wonderful and very attentive!
Cute little place. Great food! Blueberry pie was to die for!!!
Wonderful food, great friendly service! I love this place, have been here a number of times.
I had the chicken egg rolls and honey grilled trout served over grits with kale. Everything was great except the kale had an overwhelming amount of lemon juice.
A good, casual place to come when you aren't in a hurry.
Wonderful! I stopped here before my flight out of CRW. Best meal I ate in WV, and I was there for two weeks! Thank you.
I'm vegetarian and they have some pretty solid options here! They have some pretty tasty hummus, tofu wings, a veggie burger, etc. Most of the stuff is fried, so watch out for that if it matters to you. The ambience and service was great!
With a laid back atmosphere, live music, and good food and drink this is one of the best places to find dinner in Charleston.
Bluegrass is one of my favorites when I go back home. I crave their fish and chips.
Delicious food, healthy options. They get their ingredients from local farmers and producers.
Very cozy and versatile restaraunt. The smaller room has a stage and just a few tables with full bar. Music is top notch! The large room has plenty of tables and because it is rather far from stage it is quiet there, enough to have a friendly conversation or romantic chit-chat. Definitely recommend their menu and service. 5 stars!
For dinner trout and grits are amazing and by far the best thing on the menu.
The main attraction to this place is their Saturday and Sunday brunch with AUCD mimosa and the Corned Beef Hash Stack.
Amazing menu with fantastic food. Great service in a fun, art-filled atmosphere. A bit pricey.
We were traveling and stopped in here for a quick dinner. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was delicious. They had a jazz act playing light music in the other room that really tied everything together as well. The walls were adorned with local art, and the staff made everyone feel right at home. The pork chop I had was so tender it could have been cut by a spoon, and the sweet/spicy sauce it came with wasn't what I was expecting, but was exactly what I needed. We don't usually eat desert, but the staff convinced us we should, and when we neglected to order the house specialty, they threw in a slice just for the hell of it! I hope to be able to return sometime when I am in less of a hurry so I can try more of their dishes!
Good food and small town charm in the heart of Charleston. One of the best cherry tomatoes I have ever had but the chicken was dry. Overall it was a pleasant experience and the food was very fresh.
I actually know from family that this is a wonderful place to eat with delicious food!
Combines the look and feel of an eatery in Soho or Chelsea with small town charm and excellent customer service.
Great beer selection and atmosphere. Some of the freshest ingredients in town. Definitely give this place a try.
Let's get straight to it... the place is dirty.
And not like a sexy dirty, or back woods, campfire style dirty. This place has flies, gnats, bugs, ants... honestly, the only place that seemed clean to me was that bathroom, so that's a plus.
Please don't hate on me too much for this. The food was really good. I mean, REALLY good.
It's a shame that the really good food has to sit in the form of me swatting gnats and flies away in order to enjoy said food.
Love the Pimento Cheese sandwich. Good Service. Decent but not exceptional beer selection.
Great Reuben sandwich, and beer. Sharing a sandwich was perfect! Service staff are efficient and friendly. Only complaint pertains to cleanliness. The bathroom was in need of a Good Cleaning which causes one to question the cleanness of the kitchen.
Tofu chicken wings were straight fire. Had the meatloaf and was much better than my mothers, very tasty. Good local beer selection (IPAs mainly). Cool atmosphere. Would return if we were locals.
Decent food, but over-priced in my humble opinion. Very modest interior contributes to a sort of hip/eclectic vibe. Service is generally good.
Best place to eat at in CRW. Love the chicken philly here - the best I've ever had, and the Anjou sauce served with it is fantastic.
This place has always been a neighborhood favorite for me and family--we've been going since it opened. Although the menu used to be better when the legendary perfect chicken sandwich reigned (or perhaps I'm too nostalgic) this is far and away the best organic and possibly vegetarian/vegan food in Charleston and the half pound hamburger is still awesome. The specials, which change every day, have always been a great option. Seafood is very good for Charleston. The arctic char and PEI mussels are recommended if or when they show up. Get organic sodas with real sugar or lemonade for kids.
Service has almost always been great, and I say that as someone who has seen the waitstaff turn over many times across the years. You can buy the art off the walls if interested--pricey as one might expect. I've never been to the live music, but I know that some fairly interesting local bands are always on offer. The owners are wonderful people. Grab a fortune cookie on your way out.
Blue grass feels like an open friendly space. Whether you're eating as a family or as a group out to crawl some pubs. The food is good, and the live bands are nice. Sometimes it can get a little hot in there, but most of the time its a comfortable place.
The bier cheese fondue was amazing! The fried chicken and meatloaf my wife and good friend had enjoyed every bit of it!! Great place saved in my favorites.
Seems as though they equate anyone exercising their second amendment rights with being a bigot! So don't wast your money in this place!
This is one of the best restaurants in town. For sure check it out!! We go out a lot and I go to lunch all the time. Hard to complain!
Great food . friendly atmosphere. A little pricey but delicious!
The best Reuben we ever had. Wonderful food nice atmosphere, friendly staff.
I visited Bluegrass Kitchen for the second time a few days ago and I haven't been disappointed either time. It's a wonderful little local joint with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu has a wide variety of dishes to choose from and they change it up every once in a while so you'll have some new things to try from time to time. During my first visit in January, I got the poutine and I loved it. Unfortunately, they had taken the poutine off the menu before my recent visit (the bartender told me there's a possibility they could bring it back since it's such a popular dish), so this time I got their mac and cheese and french fries. The fries were good, as always, and the mac and cheese was to die for. The rich, creamy cheese sauce took it over the top. I highly recommend Bluegrass Kitchen.
My fiancee and I found this spot through Yelp while driving through West Virginia on our way to Florida. Its super cute and feels very homey. They are reasonably priced (less than $30 for 2 meals). You can tell they support local artists as there were flyers and artwork covering the walls. If I lived in Charleston, this would definitely be a regular spo .
Interesting dishes. Mac n cheese wasn't very flavorful. Soup was great. Good service, funky (fun) decor, a little pricey.
Loved this place, made it in for a late brunch and it was delicious. I'll be back next time I'm in the area!
Hipster joint in downtown. Weird food, attentive service, great atmosphere and music.
Great food and beer! Don't miss the chicken and dumplings with pickle brined fried chicken!
I love the live music here. Food is good and servers are sweet. In here I feel connected to the art side of me which I don't always get to experience in my day to day life. Fair priced and a valued asset.
Best bartender I know works here.. Consistency and craft go a long way
Worst food I ever had the displeasure of being served. The only thing worse was the service. Don t wast your money!
2 main dishes,a dessert cake ,a glass of wine and a beer plus 20%tip is almost 100. Food was good but pricy.
Life music was a big plus, excellent artists, talented music player!!
So if the price go with the life band was cheap!!!
Great find. Interesting menu. Pickle brined chicken was delicious.
Simply the best! Their Blueberry buttermilk pie is something everyone must try!!
The food is tasty but not really anything special enough to account for the high prices. The time from order to receiving is a bit excessive and our waitress was frequently hard to find.
