Seriously overrated and overpriced due to its location. When friends come they always want to eat by the beach, which I understand. If you want to eat decent food this is definitely a good spot. If you want great Mexican food at a normal price, then skip this one.

We LOVED this place. Went for lunch and dinner and everything was awesome! Our server, Cullen, was so friendly and nice too.

Whenever I'm in SoCal, I always come here to eat lunch. Three food is delicious and the service is great. Located across from the beach. Great location with wonderful people.

Good food, great ambiance, and service was exceptional.

Fresh ingredients. Authentic flavours. A great place to grab a bite. And don't just go for the favourites, fish tacos, try the fajitas and queso dip.

Good. The atmosphere & location are great. The chicken tacos were very good, the steak tacos were seasoned well but tough...as seems to be more typical than anyone prefers with steak tacos anywhere. The margaritas were also ok, but not amazing.

The location of this place was absolutely perfect, right across from the famous Santa Monica pier! Staff was friendly, outdoor seating. Everything we ate came out fresh and fast! Chips were crisp and tasty, salsa was fresh made. When I asked for a spicy salsa they brought me four options! If back in town I would definitely go back!

Great Mexican inspired restaurant in a great location! The Ceviche has an special flavor, as it recently crossed the border with the mezcal and the cocktails from the bar as well! If you are looking for an entirely worth it and refined Mexican dinner with the Sta Monica Pier on the picture, that is the place!

The guac was tasty! The tacos were fantastic! The service was superb! We shall return.

Outstanding food, service and ambience in a great location. We both had the fish tacos and they were absolutely delicious. The black beans were the tastiest we ve had in a long time. And the different salsa choices were fantastic. We will definitely be back.

After an evening walk along Ocean avenue we chose this restaurant because it was packed. Tacos and Tuna ceviche were excellent and the atmosphere was cool. Portions in the right size for an european and prices not expensive taking into account the location.

Great Margaritas...and they made my husband love guacamole

Great little place! Good margs, good tacos! Price is pretty standard for the area. Patio has a great view of Ocean and the chaos around the pier. Would recommend

The lobster tacos are great! Definitely fitting a lobster dish.

I have never had an issue with the food or service - I've had reservations in the past, but never really needed them as the place wasn't packed (I guess I eat at "off-peak" times compared to other reviewers - but I try to always do that in the Santa Monica area to avoid huge crowds). I wish the place was a bit larger, but they can't really do much about that - the location itself is great.

Awesome margaritas and great staff. My mom, sister and I walked here after checking out the pier, and it was by far our favorite meal of our vacation. Funky-indie decor and laid back atmosphere. love.

Delicious! A bit price at $16 for fish tacos but the quality is the typical Blue Plate to shelf.

First time there with my husband. During the time we went there was no wait, ordered drinks and appetizers, multiple of them and continued to keep the tab opened. We were informed later by the waiter if we didn't order actual dinner food, the manager may ask us to leave with a smile. I've never heard of such a thing. Looked around at the multiple empty tables sitting around us confused, with no other people waiting. I've been a waitress myself and am not a table camper and this lighthearted threat was only in the 15 minutes of us being there. Needless to say we just finished our drink and politely left. That kinda rude entitlement, I wouldn't ever bother with that place again especially with all the nice other restaurants in the area

Taco of the day: pork was too sweet with pineapple and a sugary sauce
Seafood Ceviche was strongly recommended by our server. Turns out the seafood was cooked and FROZEN

Beautiful space, the food is delicious and our server Piper was super friendly and helpful. Prices are about what you d expect for Santa Monica oceanfront, but the food and experience rise to the occasion.

Conveniently located right by the Santa Monica pier, this place sports a great location if it weren't sitting right by a major road. Over all not a big problem if there isn't a lot of traffic and it's sunny out, otherwise sit inside.

The food here was decent, but a little overpriced. Got the carne asada for $19, which turned out pretty small and not as amazing as one might assume. The guacamole and salsas were decent, but I've had better. If my meal wasn't comped by the company, probably wouldn't come here again.

That said, the service was great. The servers were all very friendly and food came out pretty quickly. If you don't mind the price, not a bad place to check out.

Delicious food, $$$ usually a line on weekends, best to make a reservation

My experience here was good, but defiantly could have been better. The food was delicious, and the flight of salsas was AMAZING! You must try the tomatillo salsa. It will blow you mind. However, the music was quite loud, and despite there being only a few people in there, I had a hard till listening to the person sitting across from me. Also, our waiter wore sunglasses the entire time, which felt a little weird. Maybe in LA that is standard though.

Doesn't have anything to do with Mexican food. I order a fajita combo plate, flavor was okay nothing to die for but veggies were overcooked when I asked not to overcooked them. I'm not interested in going back at all.

Great experience. Had the steak fajitas and the nachos both sublime. Great flavor and the queso sauce on the nachos was to die for! Highly recommended!

Love this place. Stopped here for lunch with girlfriend and we both enjoyed it! We had the nachos for an app, which were super delicious. She had the chicken quesadilla which she loved, and I had the pork enchiladas. Delicious food and great service, very impressed!

Great little place with an awesome view of the Santa Monica pier. The fish tacos really hit the spot.

This place was great. I love salsa and like when it is free but their salsa is not your normal style. You buy a flight of different creations and everyone was good. The steak tacos were very flavorful.

Amazing food. Had veggie Fajitas and veggie tacos. It was the best I have ever had. Very good ambience. Pleasant service. And of course great location

The food is okay. The atmosphere is cool. Margaritas are fun but overpriced. Steven (the host) is a rude person who doesn t know basic customer ethics.

One of my pork belly tacos was just fat so I couldn t eat it. Rest was good.

There is no air-conditioning, the sun is very hot, things are okay, not delicious, but can swallow. Close to Santa Monica Pier, the atmosphere is good.

Nice find after biking and walking for hours. The guacamole was excellent, the lamb street tacos melted in my mouth. Ice cold beer and great service was only topped by the awesome location across the street from the beach

The staff was awesome. Funny, charming and full of great advice about the menu. Our food was all good, drinks were pretty good. The location is great with a nice view of the beach and ocean. I highly recommend it for a casual luch or dinner. Fine for a big group or a quiet luch for two.

Amazing food and outdoor seating area, which is a bit tight but not to bad. Staff was friendly and on top of their game. Make a reservation as this place gets packed.

The portions are small and the food is overpriced. It hurt me to pay $19 for 2 tacos that didn't taste great, plus $5 for a cup of fruit juice. I wouldn't recommend this place to someone looking for good tacos.

Food: ordered the tacos, one as a lettuce shell instead. Although the lettuce shell is healthier it was not very flavorful, especially as compared to the regular tacos. The regular tacos were delicious.

Drinks: had a margarita which was flavorful, and had the right amount of alcohol. Not too little but not too much.

Location: great views of the ocean when sitting on the patio. The patio does feel a little congested, which they are most likely trying to use the space as much as possible, however there is less than a foot between you and the table next to you.

Staff: the server was friendly

Price: moderately priced. For the flavor of the food and the views, I feel this place is adequately priced.

Great food. Interesting experience. I highly recommend the mango chilli gelto. But we did order a side of corn and never got it. Still definitely worth going.

Close to the shore and Palisades walk. Decent menu offerings. Nachos were a real find, but too much cheese.

It s a tourist trap and a complete ripoff restaurant. The quality of taco and their meat was just awful. Still feeling sick... ugh.. and the taco plate was supposed to come with chips and salsa, however they didn t bring it to our table and when we asked they replied: oh sorry, you were supposed to ask for it or something like that.... anyway was my worst experience in Santa Monica. Save your money and care about your health and go somewhere else!

If you re in Santa Monica, you need to stop by Blue Plate Taco. The service is great, and the food is delicious(I don t use that word often). Try the chicken tacos and ask for some habanero sauce .
