Waited two hours for a table, waters went unfilled, server only checked on us after we were almost fished with our meals. Beer was okay.

Fast service, a good mix of drinks, and delicious appetizers!
This is one of a kind of restaurant i belive it has the best burger in dc that i have tried (Bluejacket Double) best burger loved it you should all try it
Highly recommend this brewery. Fantastic service, friendly employees, and great beer. Swing by on the weekend and grab a tour or during the weekday for a delicious beer.
Cheers
The food was very good and the beer selection was strong, with plenty of different options all on tap and not too pricey. The dining room was open with high ceilings and plenty of seating. The outdoor area looked great but the weather was not favorable. Biggest problem was our server seemed a little overwhelmed by our large table (12 people). A few drinks took more than 10 minutes to come back, and 1 entree' order was not placed with the other orders. We worked out the dilemma and were comped the meal. Overall a nice place down near nats park. Large groups may have to be more attentive to making sure everything is noted.
The service here was a solid 0/10. The beer is fine. The pickles suck. But, the chips were salty, so that was nice.
beers are great, but the lady at the front should not be working in this position. very unorganized and bored
Loved beers and brunch here on their patio! Gorgeous indoor space, too with high ceilings and tons of light. Highly recommend the Pulled Pork Poach and Caribou beer- very dark and tasted like a Reese s Cup! Tons of cool beers I d love to try and tasty looking food choices- sorry I m from out of town and won t be back soon. Really enjoyed the flavors and ambiance here.
Absolutely pitiful service. Openly admitted to honoring "open table" online reservation requests over those patrons who arrived prior to the online reservations and waited in person for over three hours (party of 6). It would be one thing to have a poor experience waiting for a table. But to be told "you're next" for several hours, and then told directly that online reservations hold more value than people giving their name first in time is just a business practice that shouldn't be tolerated. Do better.
Great beers on tap, good food for light social gatherings. Atmosphere is great but music is lacking.
Decent beer, horrible service. Every staff member was rude.
The drinks and beer is good but the food was horrible. I won't be going back.
Monkfish was both overcooked and cold, greens had so much vinegar it could've been sauerkraut... Beers tasted like homebrew with no depth of flavor (Forbidden Planet and Panther: Just writing what it tastes like in a floral menu description doesn't actually make it taste that way).
Great service, and cool architecture. Get the chefs to that level...
Very good food and beer. I d definitely visit again.
If you expect to welcome guests after a baseball game in the summer, please turn up the air conditioning! I was so brutally, miserably, unforgivably hot last Saturday -- with no place to sit (although I saw tables stand empty the entire hour I was there), and the servers (trying to be kind) continually telling me to move, while I tried to find some place, any place, to stand and get air while my son and I waited for our reserved table to open up. We finally left, because appealing as the food looked on the plates that passed me, I could not imagine eating anything in a room that was SO HOT. I'm sure there's a market of very young people who don't mind being HOT, and of course it's understandable to have slow service after a Nats game. But I couldn't be happier to leave, get on the Metro, and have a real meal among pleasant people in an air-conditioned room in the city. In a room that wasn't HOT.
I stood there 10 mins and not one person noticed me, but I came to Willie's (next door) and received a drink in one minute.
No air conditioner!
We always love Bluejacket, last night we went for a reunion. This place is as HOT as outside. Be sure to call them and ask if they fix the ac.
No seats avail, even though a slow time. Diners sat at bar instead of dining room. Was not allowed to get beer in glass or bottle from tasting room due to private event. Travelled from MN to not be allowed to order beer and no one would help.
Good burgers. Great homemade chips. Good service.
Spent HOURS here. You feel like you're cheating the place for the prices. The beer is dynamic and you find new flavors with every one. Fantastic. Place. I pray I can find a brewery like this anywhere else
I really wish they had better food. It's so convenient for drinks, but then you have to go somewhere else for dinner.
The best burger I've ever had in my entire life. Terrible service. Great design. I made it to the first day they allowed people back inside after the coronavirus lockdowns. I think they need to find a way to actually provide some service to customers dining, as it was non-existent and rather terrible. I've been to a few places to eat and few breweries during the pandemic and there is a way to still make things work, while being safe. Cheers!
Excellent brew-pub within walking distance of Nationals Park. Beers are excellent, as is the food. Try the fully loaded potato skins. The whole place is a rich, smoky smell that clung to my clothes for days after - but I didn't mind.
The beer selection here is pretty amazing. I have not come close to trying them all. Many are IPAs and hop forward but I come here for the cask pours. They have some rarer styles like ESB, poured creamy on cask. Altbier is another obscure style that is more malt forward that I see on few other beer menus.
I look forward to popping back in and trying more of the styles like some of the sours and IPAs.
Have not been too amazed by the food.
Brewery in Navy Yard located within walking distance to the metro with a cool vibe both inside and out. Sat outside and really enjoyed my time there, the food and beer was great and I ll certainly be returning.
Came here for beers with some of my buddies and really enjoyed the variety and quality of the brews. The service was lackluster and it took a long time to get our drinks, but the ambiance was chill and we had a great time. I'd come back again.
Great spot in the Yards that is close to the Washington nationals ball park and Navy Yard metro. Unique in the many craft and IPA beer offerings but known for excellent quality of food. Friendly servers, excellent location and stellar food make Blue Jacket one of my fave spots in DC
This is a great brewpub with a great architectural element and a friendly welcoming atmosphere with a large tap list and a delicious food menu. I was impressed with the whole experience. Highly recommend!
Finally ticking this off my list of places to visit in the nation's capital, my visit was sensational. Our waitress for the evening was Michele. She took real good care of me and my colleague. She had a fantastic knowledge of beers and suggested some absolutely fantastic Beers. I got the 9 pound hammer and the highlight beer of the night, "Late night thriller" which is a cask ale. This ale looked like a beer milkshake. It tasted really wonderful and light. I even got to sample a really great beer called Company porter. This one comes in bottles and was a great choice. To eat, Michele served me a delicious falafel burger. Truly fantastic experience, and our waitress made it even better. Will definitely be back soon!
Totally awesome place to begin with the beer selections are soo good, and the Bernadine eggs are my top two favorites .Most IPA are here and the service is excellent
This is a great brewery but to be honest I solely went for Fried Chicken Sandwich. It s pretty fire, there is an option between Mumbo sauce or Buffalo sauce. The Mumbo sauce Fried Chicken Sandwich was legit.
Great beer, awesome burgers/salmon, but the pierogis were disappointing. Great plating but tiny and the filling was meh.
Great food great beer, awesome hood and environment.
We had been wanting to hit this spot for long time and finally made the trip last night. Was a terrible let down!! Beer was great, but that is it. Service was very slow and the staff made no effort to be very "welcoming" at all. Now, the guys working were very helpful to younger "hipster" type guys with skinny jeans and dyed hair, but to this couple they were not at all. The food, I'll regret all day, especially since I now have to go to work on one hour sleep from being up all night sick to my stomach. We had what the menu labeled as a rib but appeared to be more of a overcooked hunk of roast laid out on a big bone. As a craft beer drinker for a very long time I enjoy my beer but can get same elsewhere with better treatment and not end up sick from the food.
First off this place is expensive, but that being said we where very happy with the food and the beer selection. Just be prepared for a 100 dollar bill for two meals and a couple of drinks
So many variations of beer. Lots of saison and sour.
Beer is great, food is good, service is questionable. Don't sit in the bar area if you're not at the bar proper; management apparently can't figure out how to staff that area appropriately. We didn't see our server from the time we ordered our lunch to well after we finished our food, and when I did try to get his attention to order another beverage he said he'd be back (because he was busy) and then skipped right over us. We just paid at the bar and left, which seemed easier than getting management to get the server any assistance.
Very interesting beer flavors and I just had the most mindblowing potato nachos that change my opinion about cheddar chese
For those beer drinkers who bemoan the popularity of the IPA to the exclusion of other worthwhile endevour, please note that Bluejacket has a plethora of options for you. From sours to wits, you can try a wide array of tasters and snifters without having to fully commit.
The food is good but not great but that doesn't keep me from coming back regularly to eat lunch at the bar.
Space is great and the upstairs is available for large groups but you are likely to have a $500 min, so bring your drinking buddies.
Food was good, beers are good, hostess is great, but the waitress showed up after 30 minutes to take our order and wasn t smiling at all, and above all didn t come up to check on us until we were done to see if we need the tab and get us out, also forgot some of our orders
I've been here a few times. The place is always packed but for good reason. The beer and food is great.
Bluejacket is one of the best breweries in Washington, DC. With a large bar area as well as a restaurant, bottle shop, and outdoor patio open during the summer, there is plenty of space which is essential on crowded weekend evenings. The food is remarkably good for a brewery, though the beer is the real highlight. With a wide range of choices, Mexican Radio, a mole-inspired spiced stout, is a favorite. Shoutout to the staff, especially Conor and Tara who run a great Friday Beers & Bites.
Good beers with a good variety of types. I really enjoyed the sour. Probably the best tater tots I've ever had. Overall, my reason for giving a 3 star is the service. I understand that Covid has changed the service industry substantially, but general friendliness should not be affected. I've been on three different occasions since restaurants reopened in DC and on all three trips the staff was either not very engaging when asked questions about the beers or somewhat absent from the patio in general.
If you can get a tour here, I definitely highly recommend it. Super cool to see how they re brewing beer in their location in downtown DC. The beer and food are also really good. Great place to take family and friends if you don t want to spend a fortune.
There was a wide selection of delicious house-brewed beers, especially for you IPA lovers. My only complaint about the whole experience is that I can't buy their beer anywhere near my home town . "The Jam" strawberry vanilla sour has earned a high ranking among my favorite beers ever, and I'm from Michigan, where the craft beer scene is well-established, so that's saying something! My husband and I both had burgers, but both were A.MAZ.ING. I can see where the place would get very busy when the Nats are in town, but it's so, so worth it. What are you waiting for?!?!
Fantastic beer list. Solid food but not great. This place is awesome for sporting events, especially nationals games.
Great atmosphere, great service, great food - get the wings app!
Great place to have beer(or several) before watching the game!
I have come all the way to Capitol after seeing something. I did not want to drink a glass of water for the exhilaration of sweet beer first round. As soon as he sees his mind, he gives ice water. A timid traveler is also touched by this. There are also a lot of longevity, and there are three big TVs, so you do not have to look at Katk without contact. Let's make it for three or four kinds of tasting. Even if it is said in English like a slippery, it understands. Good-looking people are also excellent at understanding others. Whatever you do, the taste and taste are different. Let's mix it with lager and ale. Lager types seem to have a bitter flavor and are easy to take (Largerfarm, Slingshot).
If you have a little ale in Korea, I recommend 'Open window'. The thick and tenderness reminds me of a red-nosed bean jugu. If you enjoyed the day trip, do not forget to feel the smell of sunbeds in Yards park in front of you.
Come here! Delicious diablo mussels and great beer variety in a wonderful atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy your company.
Pretty good, had the big train burger, it was more than a mouthful, couldn't finish it. Atmosphere is great, modern and old at the same time. Beer selection is seasonal, but if you're unsure, the staff is knowledgeable and won't steer you wrong.
Great artistic beer place and architecture. What was lacking was the service. When they get busy from a game they are understaffed for servers. All the food and beer was great just service was lacking.
Cool spot with some really nice beers. It gets crowded on Nats game days, but that's to be expected.
Michele was an amazing waitress. Food and beer were great.
I have to say that I was slightly disappointed with my experience at Bluejacket, especially after all they hype it got and the fact that it took me months to get a reservation at a reasonable hour on the weekend. The beer was great. Our server did a wonderful job explaining the different options to us and helping us figure out what to order. However, I wasn't too impressed with my food. I got the Bluejacket Double burger and found it dry and underwhelming and definitely not worth the price.
If I go back, I'd try to just get a spot at the bar. I wouldn't go there for dinner again.
Not really a good selection of entrees, and a surprisingly small selection of beers, especially for a brewery.
The food was good. The three beers I tried were below average. The service was fantastic, and the ambience was great.
Great outdoor seating, food is good, good beverages!
Bluejacket continues to impress.
I went here during the opening and was very pleased. Their beer is an interesting and adventurous take both on standard styles and less common ones. The original brewer apparently did not work out, but they still seem to craft amazing beers that challenge the palate and please the liver. Or please the palate and challenge the liver. Either way, it meets this beer geek's approval.
The space is also simply amazing, with a soaring interior dedicated to brewing and barrel aging. Obviously the NRG's backing meant they had the capital to choose a great place, but it's clear they chose wisely. The neighborhood is thriving compared to a few years ago.
First time experience, great food and beer. I tried Goldfinch beer (Belgium) and it was fantastic. I loved the atmosphere and the decorations. Would come back again.
Great place for some local craft beer and food. Friendly staff, great atmosphere!
Interesting selection of beer on tap, good finger food, nice atmosphere, even got a outdoor grill.
Had the pan fried perrogis, with leaks and fried onion. I ordered the full plate vice half, thinking I'd have the other half for dinner. They were so good i ate them all [8] for lunch.
I ve been here multiple times for business lunches and happy hours. This is a great place to have lunch during the work week because it s usually not crowded and the service is quick.
Overall, I was iffy on what rating I would give the restaurant/brewery until I had a happy hour and was able to taste their craft beer offerings. The beer here is great and there s a large variety of different beers. Although the food is bar grub, I feel like there s still some room for improvement in quality.
5/5 for the beer. 3/5 for the food. 4/5 overall.
Decent beers but they tried to serve me slightly pink chicken a couple hours before a Nat's game, insisting it was the way their sandwich comes. Will pass on the food next time.
I was originally going to Gordon Biersh, but I noticed Blue Jacket was only a few blocks away. On a Friday night it is very crowded, but there is extra room at the tasting room. I had a flight, and most beers are solid, the Pirate Satellite sour tasted fake, so avoid that. Their core beers are tasty as well as the food. The highlight was the Helles and the Rain Night IIPA. Staff is very attentive. Cheers!
I had a great time at the area bar. The server was very helpful and gave recommendations and explained the beers very well. He was the one that really took the experience and made it a home run! I'll definitely look to come back after a baseball game next summer. They also took care of my friend who had their birthday that day and brought out both beers to drink that they were waffling between!
Pretty good food, pretty good beer. Great place to go before or after a Nats game...but it will be crowded.
Pretty decent brewery and a great selection of beer. Food is a bit pricey, so be prepared to drop a few bucks if you are planning on grabbing a meal. Very convenient walking distance from the ball park and green line metro
Great beer selection that's constantly changing. Fun place to grab a drink with friends before a Nats game.
Mumbo sauce chicken wings were yummy. Cocktails were strong like I like it!
The WORST service I have ever encountered at a restaurant. I guess game day is hell ... as the waiter sped by to basically toss my 4 oz pour *after* he gave me the wrong one the first go! I have a very broad threshold for service....this was TERRIBLE.
Go for beers: awesome brewsters (drink there and take away).
Very weak AC in the bar area; extremely humid (our group ended up going outside as it was not as stuffy outside!)
Food is often a disappointment: salad didnt look as good and fresh as on their Instagram. Potato skins were sad, pickled toppings and very liquis sour cream, few black beans ... not as expected. What's good to have with the beers? Stick with the pretzel and tater tots. Sure value.
Favorite Brewery in DC, wonderful atmosphere good food and great beer
We stopped in before a Nationals game. The dining room was closed until 5, but we found a seat in the bar. The beer is high quality and delicious. We tried a couple appetizers (hush puppies and pretzel) that were tasty. The server was friendly and quick to fix any problems. I highly recommend.
Absolutely the worst service in DC. Waiter spent more time with a friend at the bar showing his phone off than service. Really upset. Never come back don t suggest anyone to try it.
Appropriate DC prices and tasty brews. Their IPA's were especially tasty on a muggy day
Certainly good beer and food, but absolutely packed. If you are planning to go somewhere during a game or event in the area, you might want to consider somewhere else or make a reservation. The bar was extremely full to the point where the only option was standing between tables.
We loved everything about this place at first. Excellent service (our server Bryce was awesome), the beer was diverse and fun to try, and the food was great. We had some last minute friends join us for dinner and I was absolutely shocked when the manager was SO rude about it. We even made sure to order their food ahead of time to ensure we didn't inconvenience the kitchen by ordering close to when it shut down. When we grabbed an extra table for the three additional people (all the tables were empty in the dining room except two) he went out of his way to come over and tell us we were "ruining the 'fine dining' experience for the other guests"(guests who appeared to be his friends cause he was drinking and chatting with them all night) then continued to tell them they needed to "sit off to the side." This place would be a gem without that manager!
I had the Beef Short Ribs. My food was a 5 at best. My food was cool. And regarding the items making up the dish: 1) the cabbage was very overcooked even though the menu says balsamic braised cabbage. Also, the menu should say it is red cabbage. This dish side dish is like "rotkohl" in Germany but this one was like the one that comes out of a jar. 2) The spaetzle was undercooked, and not very rich tasting (perhaps, not enough egg yolks). And, 3) the meat was bland and with a texture like beef stew from a pressure cooker. Being a short rib cooked for 18 hours, I expected something crispy with a unique taste. We all loved the atmosphere and our waitress was very good. When I wrote, I was told I should have contacted a manager immediately and that " I hope you will give us another chance to get it right." Sorry, I never like to get a replacement meal once I've had bad food....just ruins the night.
Blue Jacket Brewery: A Century-Old Factory Turned Microbrewery and Restaurant
If you're a beer enthusiast, you know that there's nothing quite like the taste of a freshly brewed craft beer. And if you're in Washington D.C., there's one place that should be on your must-visit list: Blue Jacket Brewery.
Located just three blocks from Navy Yard Ballpark station, Blue Jacket Brewery is a microbrewery and restaurant that serves up some of the best craft beers and American eats in the city. But what sets this brewery apart from others is its unique location – it's housed in a century-old former factory.
The building itself is an impressive sight to behold, with its brick walls, high ceilings, and industrial-style decor. But what really draws people in are the beers. Blue Jacket Brewery has an extensive selection of brews on tap, ranging from classic styles like pilsners and IPAs to more experimental flavors like sour beers and barrel-aged stouts.
But don't worry if you're not a beer drinker – Blue Jacket also has an impressive wine list as well as cocktails made with their own spirits. And when it comes to food, they've got you covered too. The menu features classic American dishes like burgers, sandwiches, and salads as well as more elevated options like roasted chicken or seared scallops.
One thing that sets Blue Jacket apart from other breweries is their commitment to sustainability. They use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible and have implemented eco-friendly practices throughout their brewing process.
In addition to dining in at the restaurant or grabbing carryout food or beer for home consumption; now they offer delivery services too! You can enjoy your favorite brews without leaving your house!
Overall, Blue Jacket Brewery offers something for everyone – whether you're a die-hard beer fan or just looking for a great meal in a unique setting. So next time you find yourself near Navy Yard Ballpark station; make sure to stop by this century-old factory turned microbrewery & restaurant!
