Excellent bar that has a cool contemporary feel. They brew their own beers but they tend to come off a bit hoppy to me. There is a lot of space here with plenty of bar area with standing/leaning tables to boot to allow you to rest your beer while you talk.

The bartenders were nice and they even had floaters to assist in refilling your drinks which is great when the bar is packed! I recommend this place if you are going to yards park to hang out -- great place to start the night or happy hour.

Finally, if you are interested in eating they also have a food menu/seating -- unfortunately, I did not have a chance to eat. I will have to update this the next time I go.

This dining experience was completely distasteful. A group of friends & I were disregarded and lied to. Our food was brought out at different times making the dining experience awkward. We waited over a hour for our food and unfortunately a sandwich that was ordered had not been brought to the table. Our waiter was quite sassy and rude in response when we asked where it was. He told us it took time to properly cook the chicken and sarcastically asked do you want raw chicken sandwich? . Keeping in mind the table ordered 3 chicken sandwiches in total. This one magically was different? When I tried to order more food I was told the kitchen was closed. We weren t even asked if that would be all & the waiter told me I mean you have food in front of you. If you are black do not eat here. You will be treated of lesser value. Our total was a measly $150 and they had the nerve to guard the door as if we would dare leave without paying. Its sad establishments are still carrying on this way and hiring such rude people.

I have been here a variety of times, both to the Arsenal as well as the bar/brewery area. I would consider this a review of both. The beer here is fantastic, there is always a variety of flavors and tastes. I have to admit, I am partial to sours, and Bluejacket doesn't disappoint.

The food: I am not a vegetarian, but the veggie burger is amazing here. The roast chicken is always delicious, but I tend to not eat roast chicken out at restaurants as I can "make" it (ahem. buy it) at home. The chickpeas are another one of my "go-to" eats. Who knew chickpeas could taste so delicious? While I love charcuterie, I would suggest to maybe pass on the two hot/cold options as I have never really been a big fan of the selection they have.

Either way, great environment, great food, and very knowledgeable servers!

The beers were fantastic. Nearly ever IPA was New England style - they were delicious, but not called out as such, so talk to your bartender. This place is a must if you're in DC for beer. 5 different cask ales was also a welcome surprise!

Bad food, bad service, only alcoholic beverages. The food was swimming in cooking oil. The potato chips that came with my order were between leather and rubber, even the replacement. There was no juices or sodas, finally convinced them to sell me juice used for cocktails but the subsequent eye rolling and puffing at every request was offensive. Oh you pay in advance, including the tip, so zero incentive for proper service

Great variety of beers, delicious burgers. I just wish to see a better delivery of their "flights." As of now they bring 4oz pours in what seems to be a 10-12oz snifter with no indication of which beer is which.

Nice place with a list nice of beer options for all palettes. Choose the flight before ordering a glass. Great service is always great especially from Michael who had great suggestions and is super friendly. Met some decent people there last Saturday and ended up staying longer than anticipated. I highly recommend this place for beer drinkers and the Caesar salad because of breadcrumbs.

The food was ok although we couldn't really see what we were eating. It was so dark in the restaurant we had to use our phone flashlights to order. There was a single tiny tealight only at our table which did absolutely nothing for lighting.

Usually love blue jacket! But this time we were asked to go across the street over a holiday weekend due to a weeding. They served the worst beers. We come to this bar because of the Resturante group it belongs to...and the sour beers. Today we had no sour beer and very bad IPAs and a kolsh.....not a happy person right now!!!!!

The menu is better than average.
The service is often slow. The waiters/waitresses talk too much to each other instead of being attentive to customers, and act as if they're doing you a favor.

Beers were amazing. Previous reviews were listened to and the place was rather cold. It gets quite loud after hours and could be a challenge to get to the bar, but the server was extremely helpful, polite, and accommodating.

Food is reliably good. When its not packed, the service is pretty good, but when it's busy it's hard to get adequate service. I like the variety of beer, but everything seems to have a bit of a citrus flavor that isn't really my favorite. I really like the food. It's all fresh, made in-house, and very, very tasty.

Excellent food. I didn't try the beer but it looked fantastic. The restaurant was really nice inside and there was great outdoor seating as well. They were fine with my kids in the outdoor area even though they were a bit wild and it's not really a kid-designed restaurant. I'd like to go back sometime without the kids and have the beer!

While I was impressed by the locally crafted beers, I was disappointed by the disorganized service of the host, our server, and the table attendant. Half the meal was over before my water was refilled and the server returned to check on the table. The server seemed to lack knowledge about salad protein add-ons, so my small salad ended up being the price of an entree without the benefit of a side.

This may be a good place for drinks, but it is not a good place for dining.

While I wouldn't put it on a list of cheap eats, the food is better than a lot of places that are more expensive, plus they have a good brewery with a huge selection of every style beer you can name- and you can get a selection of beers starting at $2 for 4 ounces, which is fun.
The atmosphere is relaxed, with a touch of warehouse nautical "steam punk". It is family friendly- it's a big enough space that no one will mind too much if your kids aren't using their inside voice all the time. Also in a great area to take a walk on the waterfront afterwards.

The brews at Blue Jacket are reliably good and they boast a pretty good variety of styles. I am a personal fan of The Gold Finch, Pattern Skies, and Mexican Radio. The food is pretty standard bar food...not great but not bad either.

Originally I was going to leave a 4 star review - nothing bad, everything was perfectly adequate, beer was good, food was satisfying but not fantastic, and the space was really cool and not overly loud or rambunctious. The prices seemed toward a more reasonable end for D.C., and our party had a pretty good time.

I'm leaving a 5 star review, though, because of the service. Our server, if I remember correctly was named "Gabe," was definitely the highlight of our time at Bluejacket. She was attentive, very friendly and informative, and filled us in on all her favorites, even taking the time to bring us some samples. If we visit Bluejacket again for more than a few 6-packs to take home, we'll definitely be asking to be sat with Gabe again.

What a difference 4 years make. This restaurant used to be good but now it is no better than an applebee's Beer was flat and lacked any flavor. Burgers were burnt and chips stale. Service was rude. If you want flat tasteless beer and burnt inedible food served by rude staff then this is your restaurant.

Bluejacket has an awesome industrial-chic feel to it with lots of windows and a great, open bar area. They make delicious, flavorful beers and I find them to be reasonably priced for the quality. However, the food here isn't as good. Granted, I only ate here for lunch, but I was very disappointed nonetheless. We started with their tater tots, which were unlike any I've had before - they were large cubes with almost a mashed potato center. I prefer regular tater tots that are smaller with more delicious crispy breading.

For my meal, I ordered the veggie burger, which was probably one of the worst veggie burgers I've had. While the flavor was ok, it had a terrible mushy texture that blended in with the bread. My friend ordered a chicken burger that he realized was undercooked once he was halfway through - I'm talking a completely pink middle. My other friend had the kale caesar salad, which was loaded with more anchovies than I have ever seen on a salad before. Luckily I love anchovies, so she gave them to me, however her entire salad just tasted of fish and she could only manage to eat about 1/3 of it.

I would come back here for the beer, but probably would not eat here again.

I have given this place so many chances but the customer service is always bad. I ve submitted private reviews to them before and nothing changes. I ve been here for casual lunches, brunch, staff events, and happy hour and it s consistently slow and rude service. Last night I met out of town friends here for their happy hour. By the time I got there they already were talking about how slow it was to get a drink. They were sitting in the dining area. The group pulled a chair to the end of the table for me when I arrived and it was swiftly without any comment moved back to where it came from by the waiter. We asked him why and he said it was a fire hazard. That s understandable but instead of moving my chair without saying a word he could have nicely explained the situation and we would have gladly put it back ourselves. He also completely ignored me when serving the table and never greeted me and asked if I wanted anything. I had to wave him down to ask for a beer. When he finally brought beers he asked in a very non gracious way if we were finally all set. We were so turned off we went across the street to actually have dinner. This place needs to turn up the customer service and turn down the pretentiousness.

The food is great and the beer is good, but the hostess doing the seating at the front desk is extremely rude and does not understand what customer service Is. Time to re-train on what the word customer means. A bad first impression for sure.

Really good selection of all their own beers. The building is super cool in itself too, with a great patio. Staff was friendly, we were there during a shift change and our servers were great about communicating it and transitioning us over. The community tables in the bar are pretty neat.

Rating for delivery only...which I highly recommend!I ordered the ricotta gnocchi with sausage from their delivery menu under current restrictions, and not only was the flavor DELICIOUS, it arrived piping hot and with the texture perfectly preserved despite not being super closely located to my area. It looked like a small portion at first but was super rich, and I actually ended up having enough for another lunch - score! I haven't been here in person before but look forward to hopefully trying it out once quarantine is no longer an issue. Definitely recommend doing this place a solid in the meantime and trying their food delivered!

Bluejacket and its associated restaurant Arsenal is a microbrewery & restaurant serving craft beers & American food in a former Navy Yard ship and munitions factory.

I would recommend this place. I thought the food was flavorful and the beer is plentiful. There's not much more to it! Our party of three just relaxed in this factory setting and spent the night unwinding from the past week's work related stress.

Ambiance and beers are the strength here. Gorgeous facility and nice seating pattern allows for great convos and good accommodation for groups. Food leaves a little to be desired but is passable for brewpub grub.

Their pulled pork sandwich, Waldorf salad, drafts are great. Cocktails are not bad either. On weekends, it may be difficult to get parking space, street parking on M street should work. The staff is friendly. Reservation is recommended if you have a party of 6 or above. Outdoor space is available but in the summer it can get really hot. People normally hangout here after a game. It can get really busy when there's a game at the nationals park or Audi field. Overall, it's a nice place.

Beautiful space. Cocktails were ok. Smothered tater tots were excellent but pricey. Fried chicken sandwich with "Mambo" sauce was ok. Brussel sprouts were undercooked but showed some promise. Server was helpful when he was available but seemed to be stretched over too many tables. I have heard many good things about this place but my so far one and only time visiting was underwhelming.

Every time I go here, I swear that I ll never retu...

Every time I go here, I swear that I ll never return, and yet, here I am... again, disappointed.

My wife and I were out running errands as she works on the Navy yard just next door. For context, I am former Navy guy and a home brewer, so you d think that I would love this place, especially as many Navy luncheons etc are held here.

So we popped in for lunch using their outside dining (due to covid) on a beautiful sunny and not too hot DC day. Outdoor seating was fine, but other than bringing a growler of water and your food to the table, there is NO service. You order thru an app, input your credit card info and never talk w a person. No opportunity to ask what s good or what do you recommend? Nothing.

But of course, as you order, the app defaults to a 20% tip. So NO SERVICE, no food yet, and a default 20% tip. (And if you navigate away from the final bill, it defaults again to 20% - again before you ve received a crum or one iota of service, you re asked to pay premium for it?!)

Let s start w the good: my wife ordered the lamb roll and it looked pretty tasty! See pics. Her one criticism was that it would have been 100% better if she could have a side salad instead of chips - again without a server, this small but reasonable request is impossible.

Sitting ten feet from their huge and highly used BBQ pit, I thought I d order the pulled pork sandwich. IT WAS BAD. As soon as I picked it up off the tin plate, a big clump of mush slopped out and went splat. It was reminiscent of that scene from National Lampoons Vacation, when they re serving the hamburger helper, without any meat... and then I tasted it. It simply had NO taste. Just sloppy wetness on a bun, no BBQ sauce, no smokiness, no nothing. I asked for BBQ sauce and Tabasco, it was still unsalvageable, so three bites in, I asked to send it back.

The young guy (bar back/ cleaner) didn t know what to do, but just said, order something else and we ll refund this. So that s what I did. I ordered their burger and it was good - a big 1/2 pound bar burger on a homemade bun with great and hot fries. It s what earned them the three star rating (instead of a single star which the bbq sandwich deserved.)

At the very end (after I asked and flagged the guy down) the manager came over and gave me a print out showing that they had refunded the BBQ sandwich via the app. I hope that s the end of the story.

I know these places are suffering during COVID and I m trying to patronize local (not chain) restaurants, but covid is no excuse for bad food; nor should I be asked (expected) to tip - at premium rates - for nonexistent service.

I m going on record: I won t be back!

Great atmosphere and great selection of beers! The service was a little slow but the experience was still good overall. The menu had a bunch of tasty items and their burgers we among the top that I ve had. Their beers all sounded great although I stuck with their different IPAs, which were all very good. They had a great patio as well, it was too hot when we went to eat so we opted to sit inside.

Visited the establishment on Friday night. My husband and I were looking for a new place to have a few drinks and a bite to eat while meeting new people. We walked in, pasted the patio area and asked could we sit outside. We were told we could and could seat ourselves and someone would be right with us. About 3-4 minutes later, a gentleman comes over with 2 glasses of water. Problem number 1, he never greater us, just sat there glasses on the table and walked away. Problem number 2, we had to wait for him to come back, empty handed and ask for menus. Now, as we are sitting there, I notice the outside of our glasses are full of condensation & barely no ice. He never asks us can he start us off with a drink or appetizers....he just looks at us with this blank look. So as I'm looking over the menu, I ask my husband to ask him for 2 fresh glasses of water. My husband does so and his response was, "fresh water?", so my husband says, "yes, fresh water!". So now, I'm uneasy and now I'm watching him. He takes the 2 glasses from the table and places them behind so plates on the outdoor station. He grabs to glasses from a stack, puts ice in them and here comes problem number 3! He looks over at our table, as if to make sure we don't see what he's about to do. I pretend to look away and engage with my husband, all the while still watching him. He reaches for those same 2 glasses he brought to the table originally and pours the water from those glasses into the 2 he had put ice in. At this point, I was done and ready to go...and that's just what we did! If you have a problem with giving your Patriots fresh water, what's going on in that kitchen? I cannot say the food or drinks were bad, because I wasn't able to experience it. But because of how our service began, I don't think I will even know. We must do better, customer service goes a long way!!! It sets the tone for your business. Without it, you will have no business, or at lease not for long.

They aren t known for their wings but they should be!! They were seriously the best I have had in my life. Perfect crunch, perfect amount of hot and the perfect amount of sauce on the traditional flavor. Justin was an awesome server too. If we lived closer this would be our beer and wings spot.

Nice inviting space inside with loads of light. There is a wide variety of beers on tap including cask beers. Tater tots are great with the horseradish mayo although expensive at $7. Unfortunately bartender was terrible he wasn t paying attention to the patrons at the bar so loooong waits to get served or for second beers. Would ve ordered more but after barely filling my taster of a cask beer and announcing I got the last of the keg, he didn t even offer to take that off my bill (it wasn t a full 4 oz).
Worth a one-time visit but not a repeat.

What s not to like about a local brewery near Navy Yard and Nats Stadium. A great Happy Hour crowd with other local professionals (DC term for people) without pretension. Great draft selection. I opted for the Lost Weekend. Their citrus IPA.

About Blue Jacket Brewery

Blue Jacket Brewery: A Century-Old Factory Turned Microbrewery and Restaurant

If you're a beer enthusiast, you know that there's nothing quite like the taste of a freshly brewed craft beer. And if you're in Washington D.C., there's one place that should be on your must-visit list: Blue Jacket Brewery.

Located just three blocks from Navy Yard Ballpark station, Blue Jacket Brewery is a microbrewery and restaurant that serves up some of the best craft beers and American eats in the city. But what sets this brewery apart from others is its unique location – it's housed in a century-old former factory.

The building itself is an impressive sight to behold, with its brick walls, high ceilings, and industrial-style decor. But what really draws people in are the beers. Blue Jacket Brewery has an extensive selection of brews on tap, ranging from classic styles like pilsners and IPAs to more experimental flavors like sour beers and barrel-aged stouts.

The menu features classic American dishes like burgers, sandwiches, and salads as well as more elevated options like roasted chicken or seared scallops.

One thing that sets Blue Jacket apart from other breweries is their commitment to sustainability. They use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible and have implemented eco-friendly practices throughout their brewing process.

In addition to dining in at the restaurant or grabbing carryout food or beer for home consumption; now they offer delivery services too! You can enjoy your favorite brews without leaving your house!

Overall, Blue Jacket Brewery offers something for everyone – whether you're a die-hard beer fan or just looking for a great meal in a unique setting. So next time you find yourself near Navy Yard Ballpark station; make sure to stop by this century-old factory turned microbrewery & restaurant!
