I am the Vice President of ECCO Machine. We recently moved into a new facility and needed to change our card processing provider. We went with BlueDog after reading many reviews and finding out that they are not only 2A friendly, but also because they are the leading card processor for merchants in the Firearms industry. Major points for them right there.
I was bracing for a painful process. I had already been trying to deal with Central Payment (our former card processor company, horrible experience there). Within a few minutes of submitting a form online for more info with BlueDog, I decided to call them instead. I got connected to Erin P. She was so helpful and knowledgeable (and patient with my horrible cell reception!). We opted to go with the virtual terminal for our needs. She went over all the fees and what we could expect. She was also patient with me while I reviewed the contract and asked questions before signing.
We got the application submitted in the late afternoon on a Thursday and I didn't expect to hear back till Monday or Tuesday. We got the approval from the underwriting/inside sales team the very next morning (Friday)! This morning (Monday) I had a voicemail from Pete K. from tech support/install team. He also had sent us an email asking for when we would be available for our install walk through. I thought I would have to wait a while since I missed the phone call. I replied to his email with the information requested on my availability, and put my availability for today. I also followed up with that email to let him know that I was available before that, too, just in case. He called me within 5 minutes of that email and walked through the set up with me. AMAZING!
Peter also took the liberty of helping us get the account all set up and did a test transaction to make sure we were live before we spoke. He even looked up our company and found our logo to put on the account for our receipts. These added touches were really top notch and so appreciated. He took his time to walk through the dashboard of the virtual terminal and take me through each section and answer my questions. I also asked about a certain feature (printing receipts for customers) and while he didn't see it available, he sent a message for me to the Developer while I dictated our desire for this feature. He also showed me where in the dashboard we could go to send in future ideas. I was only on the phone with Pete for maybe half an hour and all my questions were answered thoroughly.
While I was still on the phone with Pete going through the tech set up, I got an email from David, the Developer about my question on the receipt printing. It was lightning fast response time and he provided a very detailed response. The feature I was hoping to have is already being developed and should be coming out soon as he is wrapping up testing on it!
Then, later this afternoon, we had a question about PCI compliance. I sent an email to support@bluedog.co. Very quickly after, we got an emailed reply, but we also got a phone call from Tammy T. Holy smokes, the response time is incredible! There was only about 15 minutes time between my email about PCI compliance and the phone call from Tammy.
Tammy was so helpful and provided all the information I needed. While I wasn't able to log into pcismart.com (likely because our account is so new), she provided me the number to the PCI Help desk.
Overalll, I have absolutely zero complaints about BlueDog. Many other companies could take a page from their book! Being the Office Manager/Vice President of ECCO Machine, customer service is my forte. Let me just tell you, BlueDog is nailing it!

Completely dishonest sales person. Signed up for a credit card processing account and everything was great and went smoothly. After the first month I realized the $51 in monthly fees that our salesman had not disclosed and tried to cancel my account with no response to the multiple emails sent requesting the account be cancelled. 6 months later I decided to put a stop payment on the ACH transactions from Blue Dog at my bank so they would stop pulling the money out every month and guess what, they finally contacted me back. They let me cancel and I thought all was well until they pulled out a $495 cancellation fee out of my account, i emailed and no response. Shame on me for not reading every line of their contract but in the world I live in sales representatives should disclose all fees and then respond if something in brought into question instead of hiding behind back office staff that just tells you that it is in the contract.

But be sure to ask plenty of questions and make sure you understand all the charges you are going to receive. I am getting a $20 a month charge I was not expecting. I understand why I am getting the charge, just was not informed at the beginning, and honestly don't feel I am getting value. I also received a $99 charge back in August with no explanation as to what it is for. I am assuming yearly compliance fee, but don't know. I have asked several times, but have not received an answer. The lack of response is why I am only giving 3 stars, and why I am looking for another processor that is firearms businesses friendly.

We first started with just a mobile card reader that was wireless and it worked great! Much better than the plug-in reader from another company we were using. Later we decided to upgrade to a POS system. We quickly found out that the system initially suggested was not going to work in our application. After more research, we chose the Clover System. We have been using it for approximately two months now and are VERY happy with it. BlueDog was helpful with changing out the system with a system that was far better to fit our needs.

Being the owner of Crossed Axes Outdoor Supply, a gun and sporting goods store, finding a 2A friendly credit card processor was extremely frustrating. Everyone either charged ridiculous fees or wouldn't process for me at all. Blue Dog is not only 2A friendly, but their fees are extremely competitive. I receive my funds in a timely manner, without issue. The one time I had to call customer service about a gift card issue, they were VERY attentive and worked with me to inform my customer what the issue was. I highly recommend Blue Dog for any business that deals in what the industry calls "high risk" transactions.

Being in the firearms industry it can be difficult to find a merchant services provider that will work with you. Fortunately Blue Dog stepped up and had no problem working with me while providing a very competitive credit card processing rate and even beating my last provider's rate and fees. If you are an FFL, these are your people. Everyone I've had contact with at Blue Dog has always been extremely helpful and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others in the industry.

Will charge wrong accounts, promise to fix and refund overcharges but will NOT follow through. Will promise everything over the phone, but won't put anything in writing, and won't deliver on those promises.
You'll get the long run around when you call for corrections and get assigned to 8+ "specialists" within a year.
Edit: the fact that their response states they couldn't locate an account in my name, proves how poor this business is.

I will NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY! Worst experience EVER! In three months I had several issues with my credit card machine. Finally I got someone to come out BUT ONLY after I had to send two machines back. A man and woman came out pulled the machine apart and said there was nothing they could do. They didn t even care that my clients had been furious they could not use credit or debit...costing me hundreds in business. So I told them since they couldn t even give me a machine that worked for processing I wanted to end my contract. They informed me to break it I would have to pay a large amount to do so. I m a small business owner and the kind of money they were asking would be impossible to come up with right away. So I told them to take the machine and I would just not process a dime and let the contract run out. I had a Two year contract with them. So for two years I paid $40 a month not even processing! After it was up you would think I would be done. NOPE! I had a SECOND DAMN LEASE WITH A SECONDARY COMPANY LEASING ME THE EQUIPMENT THAT OVER LAPPED!!! They didn t even tell me I had two contacts with two company s. To top it off the overlapping lease was for ONE YEAR LONGER than my processing lease was with blue dog. So just to make it clear I had two damn leases, one for blue dog for processing and one for the company who owns the equipment. My contract was two years for processing and three in the leased equipment. so in the end I had TO PAY TO END TWO CONTRACT NOT ONE! When ever I try to call Blue Dog to get answers to the same handful of incompetent individuals answer reading scripted answers or they ask me to leave a message with a supervisor they never return.This is a Inefficient company that locks you in and drags you out for as long as you can. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE ESPECIALLY SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS! BEWARE THIS COMPANY WILL SCAM AND STEAL YOUR MONEY! This place should be ashamed of how badly they scam individuals out of their hard earned money.

The experience I have had with this company can be categorized as one of the worst. They arrived at my office offering a processor of wireless credit cards, for the value of 1800.00 from the beginning I did not have a signal, I called them countless times and they never replaced it. We signed a contract with the promise of the representative that if we were not satisfied we would leave. It never happened, the representative left the company and to cancel the account we had to pay 590.00. The processing company that they gave us (Firt American) held the money longer than promised and called my clients for verification. In conclusion if you really want to hurt someone just tell them to hire this company they will do the work for you.
