The service is great! The only thing is that on the Capris Salad they could use truffle oil instead of balsamic vinegar. On the club sanwhich the Avocados were very hard and not ripe at all.... and on the appetizer they could add more bread to go with the cheeses and meats, other wise I had a great time and cant wait to go back.

Complimentary wine tastings!!!

Complimentary wine tastings!!!
Associate walks you though each wine and gives good info and suggestions.
They also offer Wisconsin cheeses to purchase along with your wine.

St James Winery is one of my favorite stops when traveling Hwy 44. They have a generous tasting bar and a wide variety of wines. They also have one of the nicest gift selection for wine enthusiasts and a small section of winemaking supplies. Friendly and welcoming staff to greet you.

A great winery with a nice selection of mainly sweet wines and some other jams, jellies, and other gift shop items. The wine tours are nice as well (a bit cold in there, FYI). There is a wine tasting too. Both the tours and tasting are free

It was amazing! Great service. Ava helped us with our tastings and she was so helpful and informative. We ended up buying 2 bottles to take home. We go to all the wineries in Defiance and Hermann and this is one of the best ones we've gone to. Only a half hour from Meramec state park and only a couple minutes off 44.

To me St. James makes the best wines anywhere. I love a sweet wine and they have it perfected. We lived in California were I found it very difficult to find a sweet wine anywhere. We also lived in Virginia were they make some pretty good sweet wines. St. James has mastered the art of sweet wine making. I also suggest joining their wine club to get great discounts on wine shipped directly to my home.

We did not visit the winery but did purchase some of their wine at a local grocery store on our way to Ft. Sill in Oklahoma. My wife and I enjoyed the wine and got some additonal bottles on our way back through Missouri.

A decent selection of wines, particularly if you're into the sweet and fruity varieties. The tasting room is lovely and the staff was very friendly. $5 for a 5-shot tasting. We did 3 flights and found several bottles to buy.

They have a great selection of Missouri wines and the process are very reasonable. The people are very knowledgeable and can help you find a wine that you would like. They also will let you sample their wines so you can make sure you like what you are planning on purchasing. They offer 28 different varieties on an everyday basis and then they also have seasonal wines that they offer on a limited basis. They also offer tours of the winery as well, which is informative and a fun experience. It is worth the trip and I look forward to coming back for their seasonal offerings.

Also, they have a wine club that is only quarterly and had a good discount on other purchases as well. You don't have to come to join, you can sign up online, but I recommend coming for the experience and to taste their selection.

We ve been here a couple times before and each time is as good as the last. Staff is excellent, food is wonderful, and is just a nice place to eat. My complements to the chef. Eating here makes you feel like royalty. We haven t tried anything that we haven t liked here. Our new puppy even had fun walking around and lounging in the flower pot. And the restrooms we spacious and clean. A suggestion to the staff: a ten dollar bottomless bowl of chili.

I will start by saying I have 17 years of customer service experience ranging from restaurant management, retail management, bartending and more. I understand rules and regulations, I also understand all team members should be informed and on the same page.

We did our research before choosing St.James Winery for a birthday celebration, made sure we could bring food and have a glass of wine outside etc. There were multiple phone calls and online research.

Upon arriving, we were greeted with terrible customer service and conflicting information. You can only have food directly out front and yes we could buy wine and a six pack of beer to enjoy with. This information was given at St.James winery.

We also needed to buy plastic cups (we forgot them) which they did not have. They sent us to Brew House next door. At Brew House we were told we're allowed to have wine and draft beer (not a six pack) outside and they gave us cups.

After making our purchase at Brew House we left for our table to enjoy our wine and food only to be chased down by an employee to let us know we can't have any open container outside at the concrete tables. You can be in the Brew House patio but you can't bring outside food. So conflicting information all around.

All in all the 14 people that were there will never be back or buy St. James wine again. It was very disappointing. I will be leaving the exact same review on St. James Winery and The Brew House.

I will leave with this lesson I learned in marketing in high school. A customer who has a good experience is likely to tell one person and then they will tell one person and so on, a customer who has a bad experience is likely to tell three and then they will tell three and so on. What is more important?

I used to love this winery, but obviously their head has got a little too big.... Gone is the small town welcome, the friendliness, the experience. Now they rush you in and out, they're rude, they could care less. The guy behind the counter is sweet, but he's the only one and good chance you won't get him. They just lost a 10+ year customer (which I'm sure they don't care).

The flavors taste just like candied versions of the names on the labels. The tasting room was clean and enormous.

St. James specializes in blending wine with sugar and flavor.

Easily the most commercial winery we've been to. The staff was fine.

$$$ for samples.

It is unlikely we will be back anytime soon. If you're in the area, your time is much better spent on the small guys with better wines unless you're a fan of flavors of wines available at any grocery store.

This review has been deleted once by St. James. In the past, I have purchased their wines repeatedly as they are readily available. I will probably not be purchasing anymore of their wines. (This has not changed our number of stars as it is still a place you should visit if you have not.)

I always pick up a few bottles of St. James cranberry and cherry wine at Jungle Jim's store in Cincinnati, Ohio. I do not like the normal wine selection of zinfandels, merlots and the lot but i do love the fruity wines that this winery makes. They are tasty and delicious! St. James winery rocks!

The wine lacked full, deep flavor and tasted like alcoholic grape juice with an excessive amount of added sugar. I had tried the Velvet Red after receiving it from a dirty Santa gift. I'm not sure if the winery has real wine, but their wines are way too sweet.

Stopped in on our way home from an Arizona road trip. Wines were tasty. CJ served us our tasting and helped us choose a few bottles to take home. She was very personable, knowledgeable and fun. Next time we are in the area we will make time to stop in again.

I would like to give a huge shout out to the GREAT customer service I received yesterday at St James Winery. And a very special thank you to Kristin and Leslie for their awesome help! I walked in yesterday with a idea and two addresses, really having no clue how to go about making it happen. Not only that but I had a special request also. BUT thankfully Leslie, the manager, took time out of her obviously super busy day, considering all the people that were shopping and working there and personally saw to it that my two orders were handled just the way I wanted them to be. And Kristin put together all the items I picked out and made them look terrific in their gift boxes! If you think customer service doesn't exist any more than you haven't been to St James Winery, because it is very much alive and well there. Not to mention it is a awesome place to shop and sample their wonderful wines! Thanks again Ladies for your great help and service!

This was our lunch stop on a Rt. 66 trip in the fall of 2017. My wife did a wine tasting, and judging by the size of the box we left with, she enjoyed it. We had lunch on the outdoor patio of the attached restaurant and it was excellent. Definitely worth a return visit if we get out this way again.

It is easy to drink the rose that is said to be Pink. It may not be suitable for those seeking a full-bodied wine, but the sweet and fruity ones will be delicious even for young women who do not drink wine.

My husband and I went to St. James winery for our anniversary. The wine was delicious and the staff was extremely friendly. We were able to do a wine tasting but because of COVID we were not allowed to tour the facilities (it was a bummer but we were understanding). The fella that works the tasting room on the weekends was awesome (we never got his name) he knew how to hold a conversation and you can definitely tell he LOVES his job, and he is really good at it!!! My only complaint is the garden area, we have been to other wineries and we could literally spend all day there with beautiful scenery and relaxing atmosphere. I wished so badly that St. James had it , but sadly it did not. They do have a "garden" area which is in their parking lot adjacent from the highway. Its CUTE but not what I expected when I visited for the first time. They do however have a brewing company that is connected to the winery where they make craft beer, sparkling WINE(delicious!!) and a variety of food. There is a separate enclosed garden area at the brewery which is a great place to gather with your friends to relax and enjoy the wine, beer and the evening! The brewery is decorated with a industrial, rustic charm. I definitely will not let the garden area at the winery stop me from a return visit! Overall it was an amazing trip! See you all soon!!!

My parents and I stopped here out of curiosity and fell in love! We are already planning the next trip back, which is saying something because we are from Oklahoma! What truly made our experience so fantastic was the staff. We sampled wines with a bubbly and knowledgable server, Laura, who made us feel completely at home. Thank you so much! We'll see you again soon!

This review is long overdue, so that is on me. That said, this place was a great stop on our road trip. Very friendly staff that took the time to help my wife select wines that she has never had and was polite to me as i kept the dogs entertained.

So this place doesn t JUST have fancy, expensive wine. I stopped over in a rush to grab two bottles on my way to girls night and the chick working was SO informed and helpful and easy to talk to. Two imported wines new to my tastebuds and very affordable. So satisfied with my choices and will def be revisiting.

I've loved their wine for years, and it's always a pleasure to be able to stop by the winery storer. The staff was once again friendly, curtious, and helpful. I knew what wine I wanted to buy before I got there, but I discovered a few new flavors I couldn't pass up with the help of the staff. Any time I travel through Missouri, this is a must stop!

St James Winery has been open since 1970. At their gift shop along I-44 they obviously sell their award winning wines as well as fruit juices, cider, and gift boxes. If you'd like to learn more about how their wines are produced a tour can be scheduled. Even though they are now Missouri's largest winery there is still no charge for tours offered daily from 11 am to 4 pm on the hour or for wine tasting. And if you're planning on traveling on Route 66, their only 1.2 miles away.

Just took our motor coach tour group here for wine tasting. The St. James winery staff couldn't have been more accommodating and pleasant. We hope to bring more groups in 2019. Thank you so much!

Stopped on a Sunday afternoon and it was great. We ve been here before and bought wine then and really liked it. The Pink Catawba is very refreshing and the Blackberry is awesome. Michelle was very friendly and helped us with shipping preserves to relatives.

More than meets the eye from the road. Visitors can stop by the tasting and purchasing store, or visit the wine garden, or drop into the restaurant featuring many of their ales. The wine garden also has outdoor movie presentations during the summer months. Yes, it's the same wines you see at the grocers and convenience marts, but there's more to experience on site than most of us know, or see from the interstate. Drop by and check it out!

Had a wonderful time at the Winery today. I wanted to take my wife here for date night & it did not disappoint. When we first arrived, we were nicely greeted by Sherry. I asked about the tour & Sherry said that she was available to take us on it. She did a great job explaining the history of the winery & their wines. After we were done with the tour, Sherry served as our server and provided us with some great samples that we chose. By the end of the night, we ended up buying 7 bottles & we couldn't be happier. Thank you Sherry for being such a great host. We will definitely come back to the winery when we need more wine.
