This place is so much fun!!! You have to get here before 2 PM to see them making ice cream, but it's worth it! The Visitors Center is full of great facts and history, and I really enjoyed the different commercials they were playing! And the gift shop and ice cream parlor was great! They had about a dozen flavors, with two being available only at the parlor. With a scoop of ice cream costing a dollar, it was so easy to try five different flavors (there were 3 of us, so no judging, lol)! We will totally go back when we are around Brenham again!!!

Took my mother-in-law and family to the factory yesterday. I've been a number of times and have always enjoyed it. I was disappointed this time around. Before it always began with a nice short movie in a little theater describing the history of Blue Bell followed by the tour. Now they have cut the movie making the already short tour, even shorter. I guess they wanted to cram more tours in the day so cutting out the 10 minute movie enabled them to do that. In addition the tour itself involved a lot of dead time waiting for the group ahead of us to move along. Again, seems they are trying to fit more tours into a shorter period of time. I'm a big fan of Blue Bell ice cream but I wish the tour of the factory didn't bear the scars of cost-cutting at the expense of the consumer.

A free museum with photo opportunities, combined with a nifty observation deck that allows visitors to look down on the factory floor. But the best part of all is the ice cream bar, where generous scoops of ice cream are sold for $1. The place can be crowded, and if parking is not available in the auxiliary lot, it's probably best to leave and try again another day.

We took our young sons (entering 1st and 2nd grade) today and were impressed by the tour. This wasn't so much because it was a fantastic, can't-miss tour but because it was relatively short (about 30 minutes), informative, to the point, and--the best part--held our older son's attention. That's no easy feat. It's a little annoying that they don't have tours on weekends but honestly, if they aren't in production while you're on the tour, what is there to see? A bunch of steel pipes, that's what. So yeah, whatever the company's reasons for not having tours on weekends, it's worth it to actually see the cool machinery (especially the ice cream sandwich machine!) in action. The ice cream at the end consists of a generous scoop, though if extra servings really are $1 apiece, as another reviewer noted a year ago, it would have been nice to see some signage saying so (and we would have gladly paid more to get more flavors, and there may have been signage that I missed). Our tour was pretty crowded, but there was another literally right behind us that wasn't full at all, so we just hung out with them instead and it was no big deal to the tour guides, and then our kids could actually see what was going on and we could hear. The factory's a hike from the Houston area (especially given the length of the tour), but we found the most direct route from south Katy was up Katy Hockley Cutoff to 290 west. Glad we bought tickets online a few days ahead of time--it's too far to drive and then take your chances, since there's nothing else to do there. It's worth the drive but be sure to plan it well, and stop for snacks etc. in Brenham since there's not a decent (modern/clean) gas station along 290 for quite a while, at least until you get to the CVS and Love's.

Pretty underwhelming and nothing really to see. Ice cream is definitely good but not really worth a visit. You would think all of the process would be very large and quite frankly a lot more complex. Was very simple and hardly sophisticated. You would think @ the ice cream factory u could pay a standard fee and taste all the flavors.... getting two scoops for a dollar is a good deal but not really ideal if u want to taste all the flavors!

Drove from College Station (about an hour) and still felt the drive wasn't really worth it. They give you generic info, and you don't even get to see much. The best part is the end when they give you a free scoop of any flavor you want.

Great city! It is a nice facility. Nice welcoming. But -Not what I expected it to be like. Thought we were getting a tour, but just got to see people working up from 20 ft up high. We got no explanation of what was going on. It was so packed, people were bumping into each other. Oh and we didn't get our scoop of icecream :( ...the lines were extremely long. I did buy an ice cream scooper, which we use daily at home :) I don't think we'll be going again. Maybe just to go get our scoop,, but not likely :/

The "tour" was disappointing. You get to stand at a window & watch. The tour guy didn't announce himself & had no badge to identify himself. I expected someone to be proactive & give us some information.

Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Brenham, TX Blue Bell Creamery. This was my first visit this great creamery. The BB museum was quite interesting in telling the story of this great company. The photos and original equipment were interesting in see how time has changed, the business the process but the core values and in my opinion still produces the most delicious, ice cream in america. The company offers great opportunity to see how the whole production of this tasty ice cream is produced, in the form of a tour in the area called the oberservation area were you can clearly look down on the staff working in every capacity in the production of the ice cream. The creamery also has a wonderful gift shop with some nice gifts for yourself or anyone. The shop is serviced by a group of wonderful ladies that gives me the impression that they truly love this company an had wonderful attitudes. The creamery also has a ice cream parlor in the same area that offers various flavors of there delicious ice creams for your tasting. I must warn you the choice will be difficult in deciding on one flavor. The ice creams can be purchased for an incredible reasonable price by the scoop. The parlor offers comfortable table and chairs were you can enjoy your chosen flavor. The area has clean restrooms and are well maintained as well as the entire area. There is a good amount of parking and easy to access from major freeway. I would highly recommend this location for a visit.

The factory isn't touring anymore so I don't know about that. The ice cream was delicious. The lady in the souvenir part was rude and acted bothered that we interrupted her by trying to pay for our things and we were the only people there. She couldn't even force out a smile or a "you're welcome" when I said ty ma'am.

I never eat anything without a seal on it. BlueBell has been getting away cheap not protecting it's customers. A few years back people died eating blue Bell. Now this. No thank you. I eat the good stuff anyway.

Cool place to check out! Self-led learning about BB history and production process. End the tour by watching a snippet of the production process via the observation deck and immediately afterwards grab yourself a $1 scoop of ice cream! The only thing that would make the experience 5 stars is an option for a guided tour so you aren't wondering aimlessly. I find guided tours more insightful than reading a brochure or plaques on the wall. Could be a personal preference.

Always fun as kid and now. With the new expansion since the flood and call back the second story level observation deck with the new ice cream parlor are now on the same level, with the Texas baseball museum underneath and the visitor and history center just on the other side of building there more space for Field trips and regular people in attendance. Yes ice cream scoops are still just a dollar.

We took our 6 year old grandson and he loved it. We were hoping for a seasonal flavor called Happy Tracks, filled with peanut butter cups. Yumm, but alas they didn't have it so he ate mint chocolate chip and we had Moolenium Crunch and Pecan Pralines and Cream. I think the Pecan, Pralines and Cream is our hands down favorite. You get a big scoop for $1 , what a value!

There is something decidedly different in the taste & flavor of the Dutch Chocolate & Vanilla Blue Bell.

The flavor is not, I repeat not the same as it was before the ban of Blue Bell by the FDA

They said "New Coke" was the same as the old Coke formula, and we know how that ended with the admission of a a different formula.

Please check the recipe and correct it to what it was before before customers flee to other brands

Wishing BB the best and welcome back!!

About Blue Bell Creameries

Blue Bell Creameries: The Best Ice Cream in the Country for Over 100 Years

Blue Bell Creameries is a family-owned and operated ice cream company that has been making the best ice cream in the country for over 100 years. Founded in Brenham, Texas, Blue Bell has become a household name across America, known for its delicious and creamy ice cream flavors.

The company was founded by E.F. Kruse in 1907 as a small dairy farm with just 10 cows. Kruse began making butter from his cows' milk and soon expanded into making ice cream. He named his new venture after the Texas bluebell wildflower that grew on his farm.

Over the years, Blue Bell has grown to become one of the largest privately-owned ice cream companies in America. Despite its growth, Blue Bell remains committed to using only high-quality ingredients and traditional production methods to create its delicious flavors.

One of Blue Bell's most popular flavors is Homemade Vanilla, which is made with pure vanilla extract from Madagascar and Mexico. Other classic flavors include Dutch Chocolate, Cookies 'n Cream, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Strawberry.

In addition to its classic flavors, Blue Bell also offers seasonal favorites like Peppermint Bark during the holidays and Mardi Gras King Cake during Carnival season.

But it's not just about ice cream at Blue Bell - they also offer a variety of frozen snacks like Fudge Bars, Fruit Bars, and Ice Cream Sandwiches. These treats are perfect for those who want something sweet but don't want a full scoop of ice cream.

What sets Blue Bell apart from other ice cream brands is their commitment to quality ingredients and traditional production methods. They use fresh milk from local farms within 200 miles of their production facilities to ensure that their products are always fresh.

Blue Bell also takes great care in how they produce their products - they use slow-churned methods that give their ice creams an extra creamy texture while minimizing air content. This means you get more actual product per scoop than you would with other brands!

Another thing that makes Blue Bell unique is their dedication to giving back to their community through various charitable initiatives such as supporting local schools through donations or sponsoring events like charity runs or food drives.

Overall, if you're looking for high-quality ice creams or frozen snacks made with care using only top-notch ingredients then look no further than Blue Bell Creameries! With over 100 years of experience under their belt plus an unwavering commitment towards excellence both inside & outside of work hours alike - there really isn't anything quite like this iconic American brand!
