I have lived all over Lexington and this is by far the worst place. I chose it because of the convenient location but a month into living there the AC went out (when the weather was 104 outside). I understand this happens but it kept happening every month for the year I lived there. About the third time of calling management I said it would be easier to just put a new AC in and save everyone trouble and she told me that the AC was 18 years old, she wasnt going to replace it, and I just needed to put Freeze-on on it when it got hot. One time when I called to complain about noise (and it just happened to be the girl who worked the front desk) the manager told me she couldnt do anything about it and I was crazy. I had never had anyone be so disrespectful in my life, especially by someone who was supposed to be helpful. Also, safety wise, someone tried to break in my car at night while I was in it (it was onlly 9pm). Parking is limited and the lot is not well lit. There are many other apartments that are better in Lexington.
It's a nice place to live, until your step outside. They're not picky who they let live here and it shows. One of our neighbors keeps a trash can outside of their door. Another neighbor has 3 or 4 bags of cans they store outside in the breezeway. Dry cat food is constantly left in the breezeways to feed the feral cats. The property isn't taken care of. There is trash and dog droppings everywhere. Vinyl siding and storm drains hanging and/or missing. For nearly $1,000/month you're better off renting elsewhere.
I lived here a little over five years, and I just moved out a couple months ago. I never had any issues living here. The maintenance team they have right now is by far the best they've ever had. Sometimes they literally showed up within minutes of putting in a request. They always took my requests seriously and would do anything they could to fix it quickly. My neighbors were always polite. I always felt safe coming in at night. There used to be a shortage of parking, but they fixed that when they resurfaced the lot by giving more spots to permit holders. I accepted a job out-of-state so I had to break my lease, but I feel like they were more than fair with the way it was handled. They were completely fair in returning my deposit--no unexpected or bogus charges after I moved out. Lynn is the property manager and she was always honest and straight-forward. Some of these negative reviews are just nonsense. There are NOT pest problems.
These people are just making stuff up because they're mad about something else. As long as you are reasonable you will not have a problem. Like I said, I never had any issues in over five years. I would recommend them to anyone looking for an apartment in a great location. The Amazon hub is also very convenient. (By the way, you also have a great mail carrier too (Valerie). She's been on the route for years so you don't have to worry about your mail.) My experience here was great, and I would choose to live there again if I ever returned to Lexington.
Worst apartments to live at!! Cockroaches, mold, people dealing drugs in the parking lot...the apartment manager Brittany couldn t even finish a full tour of the complex.
I came today to tour the property. I plan to move to a new apartment in July, so I want to get a head start in finding a good place. I believe Brittany gave me a tour (she never gave me her name so I m not 100% sure) which only consisted of me looking at the apartments by myself with her waiting at the front door. Usually when I tour apartments, the leasing agent gives details as we look around together. She also told me nothing about the complex itself such as amenities, parking, maintenance, etc. The entire meeting felt like she was inconvenienced to be there. There was also a cockroach in the bathtub of the two bedroom model which was not very appealing. This apartment was originally at the top of my list. Overall, there needs to be an improvement in customer service. I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere because of this.
Worst apartments. Moving in, we were missing cabinets and doors and blinds. Plus a hole in the Wall. 24 hour maintenance is B.S. maintenance came to fix a door and just left the door in the floor saying he's letting the glue dry and never came back. Not worth the money.
We haven't lived here too long, but so far we are very please with our experience thus far. At our move in, everything was as promised plus some! Staff was very understanding when we needed to sign our things before we originally planned to because of an emergency. Maintenance works in a timely manner as well & the grounds seem to be well kept. We love being right at the park and very convenient for me to work daily! :) cant beat the price for quality and location here in Lex!
Love living here! The maintenance staff are absolutely amazing, very quick to respond to any issues and fix it right the first time!
Office ladies have always been very polite and professional and even gone out of their way to help me with an issue that was in no way their responsibility.
Park is beautiful and I love the location! The only drawback I ve ever noticed is that parking can be tough at times though that s been better lately.
WORST APARTMENT COMPLEX!!! Brittany in the office at Shillito Park Apartments is THE WORST. Asked her a few questions about the place... she gave a terrible tour and was on her phone the whole time. Kept huffing and puffing as though I was taking up time out of her precious day. Thanks Zinger Properties for employing such awful people! You lost my business. Hopefully the next person will realize how bad you all are too. Fire Brittany!!!!!!!!!!!
These apartments are not worth the price they re asking for. Trash is always piled up in the back and it s everywhere. Black stuff comes out of the tub every time you run the water.
Took my bad review down because the staff has been very helpful they helped transfer me to a different unit and I couldn t be happier I would highly recommend this complex great staff and great tenants
Apartment was spotless on move in. I absolutely love my apartment. It is very comfortable and really feels like home. Management has been wonderful.
Parking:
Parking here is a joke. As a renter, you will most often be parking in VISITOR parking due to there being absolutely no room in the normal parking spaces.
Noise:
The walls are thin, the floorboards creak and the stairs leading up to the rooms are very old and it's ALWAYS loud when people walk up them. I didn't have much problem with this as I was on the 3rd floor of my building. But I know it does bother some people. (I feel bad for the people below us...)
Grounds:
They have pretty pictures on their site, but they haven't maintained any of it since those pictures were taken years ago.
Safety:
What safety? The entire complex is pretty much unlit at night... Police/Ambulances showing up seem to be a monthly occurrence...
Construction:
We've had doors literally fall off the hinges three times within one year... Some of the walls rattle really loudly when the AC is on.
Maintenance:
If you have a problem and need it fixed? You better be ready to wait 3 months or longer... if they ever remember to get around to it. (Hint: you have to remind them every once in a while if you want them to remember...)
Staff:
They severely lack communication skills. The only time they will notify you of ANYTHING is if it's them asking for more money. (They're also pretty rude...)
If you need to get in touch with them, make sure you don't have a job that keeps you away from the apartments between the times of 12:30-4:30pm else you will never get in touch with them. (those are their only office hours.)
Also, if it's even a minor holiday that you've never heard about? They'll close the office...
Overall:
NOT worth $769 a month. Water's included, as well as garbage. But that's typical around here. Still not worth $769.
Place is infested with roaches, tons of wild cats being fed by residents and dry cat food is left everywhere, been towed multiple times because they havent seen a sticker and tow visitors. Do Not rent from this place.
I have been living at Shillito Park apartmenst for approximately 4 years. I normally stay under the radar but i am truly happy with my recent experience, especially with office staff. I was in a difficult situation and the girls in the office went above and beyond to help me alleviate my problem, and they absolutely did not have to assist me. I would recommend it to anyone who looks for safety and efficiency. The two bedroom I have is roomy and even though the rent has increased a few times in the last few years, the only bill I pay is electric so its still a great deal for this side of town. This is a great place for families.
.
Overall bad personal experience. Lack of communication skills, effort, on their part. Wouldn't recommend. My personal opinion.
Perhaps it'll be better with the new owners.
Sister lives here very nice but a little pricey and people kind of snobby and they tow off anyone visiting
Since living here, I have had numerous accounts of tow trucks coming into the lot at late hours and searching for cars that aren't in the 10-spot visitor's section, accounts of someone spotting cars to be towed, probably for money, complaints about wrecked vehicles, complaints about being parked on the street and *residential parking violations* when VISITOR'S PARKING is UNAVAILABLE and resident lots are open. People probably park them and leave them in the visitor's spots... Not to mention, I have had the POLICE CALLED for association with another person being assumed to be a drug deal taking place. If people tell you to do something here, it's probably best to have the police talk it over with them... They'll probably complain about your dog if you have one bark at the wrong time. Now I know why people pay $800 for 3rd floor apartments here where the vents have massive dust clouds at night when sleeping. They've never been comforted in their own life-time so they don't know what that is. They make judgements by looking at you and fallable blunders like poor use of authority occur. Who tries to make that their lifestyle? Apartment living should be for convenience or in cases where something DOES go awry. On top of that, every night someone comes in with their music too loud, probably in rebellion of the amount of incredubility of the tenants. Most of them will flat ignore you and take to their own wary and watchful eyes if you're deemed fallen short of the conformity. If they were good tenants, they would tend to the trash that lies on the grass from the single overused trashcan on one side of the complex and use the dumpsters in the back that looks as junkie as the one by the one building in front. The officer told me I could move my car six inches on the curb and be cleared of the 24-hr residential tow warning. So much for a family gathering that makes any sense here if you can't personally pick them up and chauffer them.
A Lexington gem. I did not know about this place until I helped my buddy move in. Located behind the Fayette Mall and situated on a park with access to a full walking trail, I was impressed. Even with amenities like a pool and theatre room, what blew me away was the updated unit with its fine appointments... wow! Yes, this place is on point as an ideal place to live!
I lived at Shillito park apartments for about a year and a half. The apartments are incredibly spacious, which is perfect if you have pets. Maintenance is quick to respond, and the front office is happy answer all questions. The location is prime for any commute, and close to shopping. If you are looking for an apartment in the Lexington area, definitely check out these apartments.
Insane. They deleted my review. Do NOT rent here. Slum lords and the apartments are 1,000 years old with updates . Would give zero stars if I could. Had to call their corporate office to get my deposit back when I moved out. The office had no receipt of me paying my deposit; wouldn t even accept my bank records or my receipt. They do not care if you have noisy neighbors (the neighbors above me were so loud, called and complained and nothing was done. Turns out they were drug dealers and got evicted- ruined the apartment by peeing and pooping around the whole apartment). DO NOT RENT HERE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
The property manager is wonderful and the maintenance team is speedy. Great place to live!
I've lived here for a year and went through the renovation they recently did. My apartment was upgraded with all new appliances and stuff and it looks so much better. Parking was a hassle as the workers took up a lot of parking spaces. It was honestly a headache but now that there done, everything is back to normal. The maintenance guys are quick to fix things and the girls in the office are friendly. I have a pet and clean up after mine but a lot of people dont which is frustrating.
I have been here for 3 years and love it! Management, maintenance, and all of the above go out of their way to make residents happy.
Lived here for a few years; maintenance is speedy and friendly . They fix everything really quickly. The office staff are also very professional and helpful. Parking can be an issue but I would recommend moving here.
Staff is on top of things, got a great deal moving in! Location is perfect. Moved in just last week, had 1 or 2 maintenance requests and received a response/solution within half an hour. Beautiful park near by, close to shopping. Very satisfied!!!
My husband and I just moved to Lexington a few months ago and wanted the Lafayette school district. This was one of the only apartments in that district and we did everything over the phone and internet. I was hesitant moving sight unseen, but the lady in the office took pictures of the grounds and our apartment and emailed them to me which put me at ease. I was thrilled when we showed up to move in and everything looked exactly the way it did in emails and website. The price and size we are getting for a two bedorom here is so much cheaper than in Maryland where we moved from. Parking is sometimes limited, but they do tow cars without tags. (My husband got his company car towed for not parking in visitor- annoying, but our, (his) fault. The office said we could come in and get a temporary tag so it would not happen again.) Overall we are very happy.
Brittany Monaghan is the most professional and pleasant lady to work with. I have lived at Shillito for two years, she is always prompt handling any issues that I may have. It would nice to have several people just like her in the office!
I love my apartment since the upgrades and office staff is very nice. My only complaint is parking but that can t really be helped. Great place to live!
I've lived here for 5 years. When things break, they get fixed. Large apt with lots of storage. Garage for my tools. I dont cause problems so I dont have any. Love the location
My sister lives here and the trash in the back of the apartments is always filled and running over. Cats are everywhere and food is left everywhere for them. Homeless guy walk through the apartments a lot. I thought about renting here but that definitely change my mind. The fact that every time my sister would run bath water black stuff would come out.
We moved in last week and our move in was VERY quick. We were moving from out of state and needed to get all of the application, approval, etc done quickly so we could move in by a certain date. BRITTANY, one of the workers, was great to work with. Without her we would have been in a huge bind but she was amazing and got us in exactly when we needed. We are very thankful for how quickly she moved and how high of a priority she placed on our situation. Thanks again Brittany!
