Ordered a book from Blackwell's, to be delivered in Canada. They did go above and beyond when there was a shipping issue. I'm very pleased, thanks again

Online order missing since February. No answers to emails, no one answering the phone. I'm out about 50 euro on these people, but there's no need for you to be.
Met a girl here once
Fell very madly in love
The books are good too
Brilliant bookshop with a great selection and friendly staff
The best customer service in Oxford. Very friendly and helpful staff with an amazing selection of books!
Oxford s biggest retail bookstore with a huge selection new & used books for all.
The store looks small on the outside but believe me it s huge on the inside, as it s built over four floors.
It apparently has more than 200,000 books on display and it has held a Guinness world record for the largest single display of books in a room. The Norrington room is over 10,000 sq/ft housing 160,000 volumes on over three miles (4.83km) of shelving. The room has been built under Trinity College.
When I last visited the store it s opening hours were:
Monday: 9:00 to 18:30
Tuesday: 9:30 to 18:30
Wednesday: 9:00 to 18:30
Thursday: 9:00 to 18:30
Friday: 9:00 to 18:30
Saturday: 9:00 to 18:30
Sunday: 11:00 to 17:00
In my experience and work-wise - the best of pleasures visiting here - great bookshop and will informed booksellers!
Great little shop. Posters looked high quality and the displays made the most of them. Nice to see the boutique style manga section too.
Went in looking for specific TCG stuff which they didn't have, but was interesting nonetheless.
Amazing bookshop! Was not planning on buying any books, came out with 3...
Really cool bookstore. They have indeed all kind of books.
Staff is also very friendly
Fantastic book shop with friendly staff
I will definitely be visiting again next time I'm in Oxford
One of my favourite places! Staff are fantastic and very knowledgeable.
Bookstore to visit if you are in the area. The basement is huge and they have thousands of titles for sale, amazing. Phenomenal.
The mother of all bookstores. If my life tanks, I'll move and get a job there
A really great place. A historical part of Oxford and definitely worth a visit if you are interested in books. There are sections for children s books, as well as non-fiction and poetry. A vast selection of books in general, and you could More
Huge store, amazing range of books. There is a music shop and a poster & art shop run by Blackwell's on the same street. I haven't been to the coffee shop but according to other reviews it I great.
A seemingly ordinary bookstore, however, when you enter the middle, the number of books on all subjects knocks you off your feet. Certainly a place worth seeing!
Fantastic bookshop with nice coffee shop on the 2nd floor. It is a nice place with good view on the high street. Perfect place for coffee and book lovers!
Great place to be for a bookworm. Huge collection of books spanning different genres and time. Warm and courteous staff who are always ready to help
My favourite bookstore in UK, I always visit it when I am in Oxford.
A small shopwindow and a really huge store in the basement with fantastic range and selection of scientific books, and some rareness in the top floor.
The ground floor is a well organized normal shop with regular selection, so you can pick normal fiction books.
Outstanding store. One or two staff a little too keen to ask you if you need help more than once, but just seeing inside this store was a great experience...
I always feel calmer as soon as I walk in here. When I leave, I always wonder why I suddenly have no money.
In love until the death of this site. Huge super pretty bookstore, the ground floor must be seen ... Beautiful editions of Tolkien and Lewis Caroll. Do not miss it if you go to Oxford.
Incredible bookshop. I feel smarter just being in the Norrington room. Sadly I become less smart as soon as I leave.
Two of my favourite things, coffee and books in one place. The place is amazing and essentially an Oxford landmark with a great selection of books and i've spent hours inside. Bought a few books from the place too. Definitely worth the visit
A book lover's paradise! Great prices and deals. The selection is remarkable.
Amazing Library, I really appreciate the Engineering section.
A must-visit bookshop. An absolutely ideal, perfect place for a bookworm. You can find books from a wide variety of genres here, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Not to mention the legendary Norrington Room, which is breathtaking!
A couple days ago I went to this bookstore to buy a book I needed for my class. When I walked in no one greeted me even though all of the employees have definitely seen me. I couldn t find the book in the shelves so I went to the register to ask the lady if she might take a look to see if they still have it on stock. The lady, I think her name was Georgia or Gina, was so annoyed by my request like I was forcing her to do her work.. so I just left without buying anything. If you depend on walk in customers you should be a little nicer and not scaring them away. This was the last time I will go to his bookstore.
Actually I wanted to support my local bookshop but now I ll just buy my books on amazon, so won t bother anyone to do their job..
An incredibly large selection of books and a fast, courteous service. I received a reply to my email within 24 hours. The staff is always very friendly and ready to help. Also their website is clearly arranged and well structured. Simply great!
My happy place:) the staff in children's section are always very helpful and knowledgeable.
Definitely one of the best bookshops I've ever visited. +1 for Springer books. Professional and polite staff ready to help. I like this place!
Great staff, fantastic service. If you're not exactly sure what to get for someone, they're really friendly and can help you.
Heaven, that's what. I start talking about the plus points: a very wide range of choices for every literary genre with different themed rooms and at least 3 floors in which to turn, you can find literally anything, the staff are very friendly and helpful and, the icing on the cake, as soon as you enter the shop there is a small revolving shelf where you can find some "mysterious" packaged books, obviously to be bought by totally relying on those who have chosen them. Points against? Only one but not so small, the library is too large and dispersed, although I am passionate about literature a little bothered me to stay inside for more than an hour just to take a decent look at the shelves. Anyway it remains my favorite bookshop and it's always a pleasure to go back.
3 miles of books in Norrington room in the basement
Great food. Friendly staff. Good for gluten free people. Great vibes.
I was mainly interested in the music section and i adored their selection. Their rock selection was scarce but what I found did not disappoint. I found underground bands that I havent seen in America and i almost screamed with joy. Their guitars are lovely to play as well. Highly recommend this cute little music shop!
Helpful staff well displayed books - excellent coffee shop
I am surprised that some books are even autographed! Flip the books to check.
One of the most iconic bookstores in the world. Being in here is like being transported to a different world. They even have a lovely section for kids as well as a thoughtfully curated set of books.
PROS:
- they have three(!) stores on the same street (book, music and art/poster shop),
- a wide range of books for any sort of reader,
- multiple floors,
- you can sit down and read if you'd like,
- friendly staff (I had some questions),
- there's a cafe inside one of the shops
CONS:
- why do books have to be so darn expensive :/
I believe that this is one of the best bookshops in the country. It caters for a wide range of tastes, from the exceedingly academic to pulp fiction. The music section deserves praise for having a comprehensive, complete and accessible selection of sheet music for almost every instrument imaginable, and the staff in their respective areas are expert in what they are selling. If you are an Oxford alumnae, don't forget to show the card for a substantial discount.
Service is fantastic and it's probably one of the biggest book shops I've been in! Came out with a good selection of books, and a few new discoveries.
Toilets extremely filthy. There is a surfeit of staff walking around so at least one should be assigned to toilet duty per shift. Otherwise an outbreak of dysentery is likely imminent.
The printed music section is world class and very knowledgeable about all aspects of music.
Multiple floors and areas to get lost in and explore. Beautiful building and lots of great little gift ideas too! always a fun stop any time I've been in oxford.
I absolutely love this bookshop. Its variety is huge and I could not resist to buy two books there. They have all different kinds of books about every topic and subject. As soon as you enter the store you feel very welcome and it has a very special atmosphere - despite the tourists that go in and out. I could spend hours in this shop just combing through all the books. The staff is very nice and helpful and I reckon they know a lot about their offered books and stock. They also have an adorable childrens section with lovely books! You won't find some of the books elsewhere and that's what makes it special.
Spent a most pleasant morning browsing through the books and reading about the past in a book called, "Its all in the Past"and extremely good, as was the coffee, which was delicious. The atmosphere was very pleasant, must re visit.
On holiday from Sweden and this was our rescue! Best. Coffee. In UK.
Also the most charming and beautiful bookstore we've ever been in.
Can easily spend a few hours in here .great selection of fiction and academic books. Good choice of political books.
We walked in through the music shop, and were surprised to discover such an expansive bookstore within. Apparently it's the largest in all of Europe. Miles and miles of subjects for any book lover.
Very nice bookstore, a must in Oxford! Book lovers have every interest in going for a walk (their wallet a little less).
Someone went to the bookstore in this age? It may not be the first time. The bookstore of a cultural city like Oxford does not only sell exam study, intensive reading, admission tips, and also sells best-selling travel guides. It seems to be the best way to open up people with no culture like me!
great deals and full of collections. environment too dim and no place to sit
Gorgeous bookshop with 3 floors and a basement. Theres a huge collection of books from all genres with for all ages. Theres also a selection of second hand and older books available for purchase aswell as a small coffee area. The prices are still full price, but do have 3 for 2 deals and similar.
Theres plenty of seating to flick through your favourite books, aswell as shelves with recommendations from staff and bestsellers. They also sell book-related gifts.
Definitely recommend, could spend hours here.
a great book store, with a very good arrangement which makes it supper easy to find what you're looking for.
Excellent place if you want to buy a book in English but if you want to rest a little in its cafeteria floor. Good coffee with some tente on feet at a moderate price.
This store has an excellent view of books! If you don't understand what this means, come visit and see for yourself.
Haven't been in there for years.... Went there other day. Brilliant shop.
Ordered a book from Amazon and came from your bookstore and I must say the Vintage book mark is a really nice touch. I love it! It made me feel like I stepped back in time, thank you! I wish to visit soon, Greetings from Canada!
Wonderful bookshop with its own unique atmosphere. And the best thing-it's really huge, especially the basement.
One of the best academic and general book stores in the country.
Shame that the owner is a UKIP donor.
If you want to browse through a really big book store again, this is the place for you
Possibly the best book store in the UK with an amazing collection
A place you can fined books reading facilities before purchasing they welcome you to view the book and no rush you can sit have coffee be able to spend time browsing before purchasing several minuets reading the books is allowed big size shop best sellers books and many more stationary available including cafee CDs are the best many floors and busy shop
One of the places in Oxford that I enjoyed the most, a huge and quality library, a paradise for those who love reading!
Massive selection of books of any type. The last floor where they keep their oldest pieces is especially lovely. Friendly, helpful staff.
Favourite bookshop of all time, lovely range of books.
This bookstore is well worth a visit. Hours can be spent between books, notebooks, cards, gifts, and so on. The staff are friendly and helpful if you are looking for something in particular. Will definitely be back!
The best ever bookshop I have visited. A brilliant selection of statistics and R programming books in the basement
ordered a book as gift online - has to wait a week for it. In this day an age online orders cannot take 5 working days, as standard.
Also the email communication and telephone customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
Returning book and inconveniently had to go to a Waterstones and buy again.
