A bibliophile's dream in the heart of the city stocking a wide selection of fiction, non-fiction, rare and (of course, this is Oxford) academic texts, with plenty of special offers to be found. The deceptively small storefront hides an enormous interior, including the famously capacious basement Norrington Room and a comfy Cafe Nero on the first floor.

Extra points for their dedicated Terry Pratchett shelf!

We spent two hours at Blackwell's on Sept. 26, and arranged to have a number of books shipped back to the US. Sarah at the Customer Desk on the lower level answered all of our questions, filled out the order, and arranged for shipping. We were expecting to see the shipment one to two weeks later, but the shipment arrived (via DHL) the same day we arrived back in the US. Outstanding service! Not to mention that Blackwell's is one of my favorite spots one the planet! Thank you!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Ordered online, and they didn't bother to send the book until after I emailed asking why it was taking so long. I honestly assumed it had been dispatched. Customer service was appalling. They told me it would be dispatched within 24 hours and thanks for my patience. I now have to wait 2-4 days for delivery. That's around 10 days since ordering. I assume it's coming by steamboat.

So - many - books! About anything, even used and antique books. Knowledgable and friendly staff. Occasional events with authors and people of interest giving talks. The place felt alive, but still had nooks where one could hide away and read. Highly reccomended for any book-lover.

This is the TARDIS of bookstores.

Head in through the door into a labyrinthine forest of reconstituted trees of knowledge.
Lovely place.

This bookstore is fascinating and is in an amazing setting. For those who are not lucky enough to be able to walk around Oxford every day, they also have an online sales service that is great.

The bookshop was awesome and it was in the most historical place in Oxford. It reminded me of the magic city of Harry potter. Goods and all books seemed to be awesome. I would recommend you to visit here if you are interested in finding old and historical bookshop!

They used to do 10% discount for university card holders, has been the case for both me and my mum for many years. They have now changed this and when went in they told me only fellows get the discount. Fellows being the best paid people in the university. Well done for keeping the elitist attitude alive and well, if a little medieval. Wont be shopping here again.

A very large library, almost dispersive, I must say that my vote is based on the fact that some books were seen that they were used, others seemed new, and prices did not help to understand the difference. I felt confused. However I recommend a visit.

Oversized bookstore! I just enjoy watching it! There are four layers, with clear classification, everything, and the precious old books in the collection. The masterpieces published by Oxford are not expensive :))))) Friends, do n t miss it when passing by

Ordered two books on the 2nd October from Blackwells as they had multiple copies in stock. Website said they would be dispatched within 24 hours. It's now the 10th Oct and I've had no email saying they've sent the books. I emailed two days ago but have been ignored. Called today & told they books were sent on the 4 Oct but that delivery could be any time up to the 18 Oct. Utterly ppointless,I'll order from Amazon next time.

This legendary bookstore is worth the hype. Take at least an hour, ideally two, to explore the various corridors and levels. Ask where the maps are kept, you won t be disappointed! Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Can Ofer books upon request.

The store front seems like this is a normal bookshop. But it goes way back and extends to multiple levels. Books on every topic. We needed supplies for a class in Oxford so were able to pick up notebooks, pens, and a souvenir while we were there. Look for the rare book area and the display cases for the present exhibit.

Such an amazing bookshop. Every time I'm going through Oxford I try and pop in to see the shop. The layout is amazing and the amount of books they have there is something else. I've never seen such a large amount of books and the building is so uniquely designed. You go down stairs underground into a massive basement area with wall to wall books, and then you can come back up through another entry into a small area where there are loads of music scores for sale and even a music score ordering service, and then back up to the music store above which is actually a few shops down from the original shop, so the basement must run under about 3 other shops. Also all the books are laid out very well, with plenty of interesting recommendations, even though I only bought a card game and poster from there this time I've got a few ideas of some books I'm hoping to put on my Christmas wish list this year thanks to the displays.

Staff are also very helpful too - I was looking for a specific poster and the staff member spent time helping me find the specific poster.
