Wonderful production of Side Show directed by the author. Great facility and staff. Cast, crew, and orchestra were brilliant. The audience was delighted and so very friendly. Beautiful surroundings and they even arranged a break in the rain! Thank you Black Hills Playhouse.

Great place for a play. quiet setting away from the hustle of the city and trying to find parking. Great drive to the playhouse as well. beautiful scenery. New plays ever couple of weeks during the summer a must hit if you're visiting the black hills one evening.

Highly recommended! The playhouse is in an excellent location. The actors and actresses always do an exceptional job. I have now been to three separate plays, all on different years. I have never been disappointed. Worth every penny!

We attended the "children's night" of Sherwood and were very disappointed. We had specifically called when booking our ticket and told them that we were very conservative and wanted to know if there was anything in the play that we should know about before bringing our children. We were assured, by the salesperson, who had just seen the show, that there was nothing they could even think of that would be of note. IT IS NOT KID FRIENDLY. In fact there wasn't much in the play at all that was good. It was mostly paying too much money to have to cover our children's eyes. The play has swearing, sexual foreplay, sexual jokes, a "death" character, and mostly consisted of the actors describing in detail how to harm, impale, and kill others. DON'T GO. After calling the playhouse TWICE before someone called us back, I was told there was nothing they would do. We have attended plays every year at the Black Hills Playhouse and will not be back again.

A local playhouse with a talented staff. Offer a great variety of shows throughout the summer season. If you are traveling through the area, this is a must for evening entertainment. Support local arts and enjoy a scenic location. This is an old CCC camp and is a beautiful area to visit.

We sure enjoy the shows we have seen at the Black Hills Playhouse. High quality acting, sets, sound and lights. The small house doesn't have a bad seat. The building is beautiful, and the setting in Custer State Park is gorgeous. You will be pleased with any production you go to see there.

1) I may be biased having grown up near here and doing a play as a kid with Dan Workman 2) I havent been many places outside the Midwest.
THAT BEING SAID THIS IS THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD TO SEE A PLAY/MUSICAL/OR WHATEVER. What more could you want? It's a rustic building in the middle of a national Forest.

While it may be a bit of a drive to see a production out in Custer State Park, the production value they have to offer certainly makes it worth your while. An excellent way to spend an afternoon in the Black Hills and be entertained by great theatre in the evening.

Always a treat! Ambiance is terrific - rustic and intimate. Setting is pristine and quintessential Black Hills. Cast, crew, and sets are always top-notch. We like to come early and picnic under their shelter before a show. Remember to get your park pass. We've been attending Black Hills Playhouse productions regularly since the early '90's. If you have the opportunity, this venue is highly recommended!
