I am a registered nurse. My 1 year old golden retriever got attacked by a dog at a dog park and had 2 very deep puncture sites. I cannot explain how professional, friendly, and efficient this clinic and staff was. They took my dog in immediately, made my dog feel comfortable (she was very scared), told me exactly what needed to be done, explained the prices, and asked for my permission regarding all care. Dr. Tim Jones is very friendly and genuinely enjoys what he does. Great experience, highly recommend! Will 100% go to again if I need after hour care like I had needed in this situation!

This is THE BEST vet office I've ever been to. They love all of their patients. They remember you and your furchild. Excellent care, excellent service. Do not bother with other offices that will offer you a discount for your first visit and then drain you with unnecessary visits, tests or procedures. The health and care of your pet is #1 priority at VMC. I don't even have a particular doctor to recommend. Every doctor is great!

Awesome doctors awesome staff.Best people in tampa!!!!I took my cat Dholu in a very terrible condition to them. He does not have a control on his bladder and his stools. He suffers from various other problems. However, these people literally saved him. All the Doctors here are awesome and very thorough with Diagnosis. Inexpensive and the best services are offered here. I would strongly recommend this clinic!!!!!!!As a pet parent I feel finding the right clinic is one of the most important thing and veterinary medical is the destination.

I brought my dog here for the first time today, and just wanted to quickly say how great our experience was.

I am new to the area, but was very pleased with the treatment my dog and I received while at the Vet.

The staff were all VERY friendly, the place was clean, and the Doctor (Dr. Gray) was informative and helpful. They were all very caring with my sick pup. The owner even came in and greeted us as well as introduced himself. He was very nice as well.

Just wanted to say thank you for making our bad day better!!

Wayyyyy too expensive. Look to upcharge you at every turn. More concerned about making money than doing what's best for your pet. They will gouge you at every turn, especially when it comes to meds.

These people are so wonderful. I found a small black kitten at my back yard and took it to them. They conducted an exam at no charge. He was only 1 pound and needed a lot of help. While he ultimately didn't make it, These people treated me and the kitten with the dignity he deserved. You were wonderful and than you for your care.

I am cross-posting this from Urgent Pet Care of South Tampa as it is the after hours portion of this same clinic.

Based on reviews, we drove over an hour to this clinic for emergency treatment for our chihuahua. We were exceptionally pleased with our choice to do so. The entire staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and caring. Explanations were clear, concise, and all questions were answered professionally. We were not encouraged to add unnecessary tests or treatments. The price was reasonable and each person we encountered had a kind bedside manner. Go here.

Great doctors horrible front staff personal. They treat you like they are doing you a favor not like you are paying for their service. They don't even try to hide how annoyed they get if you call with a follow up question or anything that involved them doing their actual job. Dr. Parker is the best, if it wasn't because she is so good with my dog, I would have gone to another Vet clinic where staff understands and appreciate their customers!

UPDATE 10/13/2020:

UPDATE 10/13/2020:

I had a very positive conversation with Brenda Perez about my concerns expressed in my original review. She genuinely cares as do all of the doctors and staff at the clinic (although I'm not totally sure about that Urgent Care doctor).

I realized much of my strife has been about losing my beloved dog even though there were some issues with the handling of the situation. Brenda took the time to decipher the issues that could have helped the situation and has made some positive changes in practice protocol moving forward. She also offered to reimburse me for the after hours fee, which she did not have to do and I declined.

I recognized that this pandemic has caused increased stress and anxiety on all of us, especially Brenda since she is doing her best to manage the practice safely during these difficult times.

We have been able to repair our differences and I am happy to report I will be remaining a client of VMC and Dr. Gray. I did warn Brenda that currently, I just have a fractious cat named Cheddar that I got from the Humane Society so maybe it won't be great for them. All joking aside, I am grateful to be remaining a part of the VMC family. Thank you to all concerned.

I have, or had, been a client of VMC for 20 years and Dr. Gray is fantastic. Unfortunately, the doctors have nothing to do with management. On 6/11, I took my 15 year old dog to the after hours because she had not been eating or drinking. I couldn't get an appointment during regular hours and my dog had been seen by a different doctor about a week before. At the after hours appointment, the miserable doctor hung up on me,sent my beloved dog back to the car with the tech and said there were other after hours clinics. I had to beg for my dog (who was a patient at the clinic for her entire 15 year life)to be seen. I asked the doctor to give her some sort of food supplement or IV. Instead, she gave me antibiotics and sent me home. She totally missed my dog was critical. Less than 12 hours later, Lap of Love came to my home for a consultation. I was told my dog was suffering and she was euthanized. Since then, I had to call the clinic 20 times. Finally got ahold of Brenda Perez. Requested all of my records over two weeks ago and have received nothing. I would go anywhere else. It's all about the money for them

This is a wonderful facility with amazing doctors & staff. My labradoodle was attacked by a pitbull...I called them & they were waiting at the front door to receive my injured dog. They immediately began assessing my dogs injuries & giving her something to ease her pain & fear. 2 took me to a room to calm me down & clean the bite on my hand. They even cleaned my shoe that was covered in dog droppings from attempt to pull the pitbull off my dog. They were truly amazing. They made my dog totally comfortable, were able to treat her & stitch her up and I was able to take her home that night. I highly recommend Veterinary Medical Center. We have been going to them for 9 years. Super caring, loving & highly trained doctors & staff.

They did an excellent job of taking care of my cat. My cat developed a few abscesses on his leg, one would heal than another opened, it was quite the battle. They were able to get me in that day or next following day, each time an abscesses opened. The vet bills were reasonable overall. I went there 5 times over a period of about 2 months, with a total bill of all visits to about $1,300. They did a lot of stuff, x-rays, sedation, immunization, drug medication, wound clean up and few other stuff.

Dr. Parker is amazing. She was the only doctor who properly diagnosed my dog who at the time was very sick from cancer. She went well beyond and contacted me even after hours and on the weekends to check on him and to see if there was anything we needed. She came in on her day off to see him and tried to make those last few weeks as comfortable as possible for him and for myself. I will never take my pets to see anyone other than Dr. Parker. She really is the best and truly cares for her patients and their owners.

Awesome

I have taken my 6 year old Maltese here for a late night emergency, a sickness, and her regular yearly appointments/vaccinations. Can't say enough good things about Veterinary Medical Clinic - they are kind, thorough, and affordable. They educate you on the best options for your pet and make even the most anxious animals calm.

My dogs have all seen Dr. Amber Parker. She is, hands down, the best veterinarian I have ever come across! She communicates so well. No matter what the subject matter and how extensive her medical knowledge is, she always explains the "what, why, how" of any condition and services so that we feel we are doing the absolute best for our pets. Her personable disposition is always refreshing for me - and more importantly my pets ;). They love her! She is very genuine! I would definitely recommend this practice as a whole. They have many awesome veterinarians and highly trained staff. They even have an excellent small animal and cat building separate from the dog building. I've had my ferrets receive excellent care there!

I have gone to this vet multiple times and they are always super helpful & friendly. My Morkie has really bad teeth and I have always been afraid to take him to get them cleaned/extracted because I have heard of so many complications but Kim took the time to talk to me on the phone for about 20 minutes about the procedure and now I am super confident that they will do a fantastic job!

This clinic is great and it has reasonable prices. I recently moved and needed a new vet. I've been on the urgent care after hours for an allergy reaction and normal hours for annual check up and vaccines. The vets are very knowledgeable and clear with everything they need to tell you. They are efficient and all the staff is super nice. The only thing I didn't like is that for both of my visits (1st urgent care and 2nd last appointment of the day) I felt like they were rushing to just get done with me. Some people may not care but I'm super involved in my dogs and to me they are more like babies so I appreciate it when they take the time to make the visit more personal and the vet acts more personal with my dogs. In both occasions with both different vets I felt like they were in a rush to care for my dogs as quick as possible so they could go. I've never been on normal time so maybe if I picked another appointment that wasn't urgent or end of the day the experience would be better on that aspect. Other than that I do recommend the clinic and will keep taking my dogs there for now.

Dr Gray and the staff are very knowledgeable, friendly, and skilled at what they do! We have had multiple amazing experiences here. Amanda up front is very caring as well. It felt like they treated my fur baby (Loki) like part of the family.

This business is truly one of the best!! They go out of their way to provide fantastic customer service and pet care. I was a little upset when my previous vet sold his practice, but now I m sad I didn t switch to Veterinary Medical Clinic sooner! You all are wonderful. Thanks for everything you do.

This place is a total scam, bordering on extortion. Their fees for basic lab tests are INSANELY high, and they will force you to come in and get more tests in order to prescribe the medication your pet needs. I spent $800 on lab test a couple months ago for a pet that has hyperthyroidism and needs medication. When I called them today to get a refill for the medication, they said "lab tests are not up to date" and that I had to come in again. I was JUST THERE. Ive spent over $3k on lab tests over the years for a simple medical issue, because they refuse to prescribe the needed medication without forcing me to come in and pay for unnecessary lab tests, at a cost of $200-500, even though medication and dose has been stable and consistent for nearly 5 years now. I will never go here again. These people care about nothing other than how much money they can get from you.

I brought in a dog that I was puppy-sitting during the after-hours urgent care and was seen right away with no wait. The staff was compassionate and took great care of the dog and was very informative for me. She ended up only needing her nail trimmed, and they didn't even charge me. They are wonderful!

I went in with my 6 yr old, 3.5lb chihuahua who was feeling sick and throwing up. I was sick worried to know what was wrong with her. I came to this vet and they gave me the answers i needed to know. They are loving and caring and i saw that they were very considerate. For my future emergencies with my lil fur baby i would definetly come here again. I loved it !

I was previously going to a different vet when my sheprador came down with his 3rd ear infection in less than 3 months. Annoyed, I went to this clinic for another option. Not only were they more cost effective, they were kind, explained everything, and informed me that most ear infections stay in the middle ear and need to be flushed. His ear infection finally went away and my business stayed.

I applaud the staff and veterinarians of Veterinary Medical Clinic for all the expertise, care and love they have given to my dogs. One in particular is my youngest pup who was on the verge of dying. Most of the team have been involved in getting my baby back to life again. I received calls throughout my pups journey of getting her health back. She is alive today because of these amazing people and digging deep into the root issue of my pup. Both of my pups are smothered with so much love and affection every time they visit. I am so glad I found this clinic for my fur babies!

First visit with one of our dogs. Spoke with Brenda on the phone and explained we were new in town and needed to find a vet. I explained our one dog had been limping a few days and they actually had an opening the next day. Brenda was extremely kind and helpful while booking the appt.
We loved Dr. Tim, the vet tech, and the front desk staff!
Everyone was super caring and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable!
I think we finally found our dogs a great vet in the area!

They are wonderful, caring people there. They saved my cat's life and worked with me to get it paid off. They are out of my way now since I moved but love them so much there that I keep going back.

Our fairly healthy17 year old cat Whoser with kidney disease took ill on a Friday evening. I googled an urgent care in south tampa and called them immediately. They were very accommodating and invited us in to see the Dr. on call. The wait was minimal before we were taken into a room. The vet technician who did the initial inspection was extremely knowledgeable, caring and probed us for the cats history. Shortly after that the Dr (name I cannot recall) came in. She was young and also very gentle and caring and mostly very sensitive to our feelings. She gave us her opinion of hospitalizing our cat and performing a procedure similar to dialysis. This exact treatment was done two weeks earlier by our normal vet who had cared for Whoser all his life. At that time we were told that the procedure could last a few weeks or a few months but due to his age, his kidneys were failing.
Distraught, we made a decision to put Whoser down that evening. The Dr explained all our options and agreed that our decision was the right one. They were very patient and allowed us to be with Whoser as long as we could. We notified our son who immediately joined us. The procedure was quick and done tastefully. Thanks to the amazing staff at Veterinary Medical Clinic, we were able to get over this very traumatic experience. The cost was also very reasonable and in line with our normal vet. We plan on using them in the near future with our new pet.
Thank You to all at Veterinary Medical Clinic. You were all amazing !!!

I took my French Bulldog, Stewie for his first visit a couple weeks ago. Everything was seamless there: from the receptionist to the vet to the checkout process it was a wonderful experience. A few days later I had a voicemail from the director of the clinic to check on Stewie's progress as well as from one of the vet technicians a day after. This is definitely Stewie's new home for his medical care. Thank you!

Wonderful vets, wonderful staff. They will take excellent care of your pet. They also have an emergency clinic open in the evenings and on weekends. If you are on a budget they do the best they can to accommodate while still providing top notch care, and they work with CareCredit so if you need a payment plan and have reasonable credit that option is available. They have really taken amazing care of my kitties, and their doctors and techs are kind and compassionate people who truly love animals. I have been to an emergency clinic before that was not like the one they provide, but instead it was staffed by emotionless people unlike this clinic which is staffed with positive, friendly and caring people, and the difference is like night and day. They see both dogs and cats, and have a special cat clinic and a kitty waiting area so your kitty won't be too freaked out if a dog comes into the waiting room. I highly recommend this vets' office and their emergency clinic.

I love this place. Dr. Parker is the best - very kind and extremely patient when you have lots of question. Perla the tech is very good with touchy, scared animals. And, the ladies at the front desk are super friendly. They have always been completely transparent about pricing and the steps you need to take in order to get your pet better. If only human doctors were more like them.

We recently moved to Tampa with our golden retriever and was referred to VMC from a friend. We were introduced to Dr. Jones when our golden had a lump come up on his belly that ended up being cancerous. Dr. Jones was not only thorough and explaining all details during pre op and post op, but also followed up multiple times during his off hours to check in on our golden. We have never met a Vet as genuine and caring as Dr. Jones and we will always put our trust in him.

I needed to take my cat to an emergency clinic and had no idea where to go. I googled and found the reviews for this clinic. It was 10p when I left my house and they close at 1030p. I got there within 15 minutes and they immediately came out to help me. They were so caring and responsive, not rushing me at all. I ended up having to take my cat to an overnight ER clinic due to the issue they discovered. They explained the different options and helped me with the next steps. I'm very thankful and grateful to this clinic!

Our experience at VMC with Dr Parker has been nothing but great. We rescued a kitten from the neighborhood a year ago and I was able to get in the same day without issue and was treated so kindly, being reminded that I am doing a great thing by giving this cat a home. She was very knowledgable and provided advice on when it was safe to bring my rescue around my other cats and even how to keep my family safe just in case our new cat had contracted any illnesses. We even received a call about a week later from Dr Parker herself as she was following up on how we were able to integrate the cat and his progress. I was very impressed and when it was time for my other two cats to be examined and to receive their shots, I knew we were going to see Dr Parker. Just as last year we were treated just as kindly, we were seen quickly, and each cat was given a thorough examination. I can do nothing but recommend the care of Dr Parker and her staff.

Our sweet pup Lola starting having seizures this weekend for the first time ever. After one late last night we took her in frightened as could be. The man at the front desk was very friendly and helped us get checked in. The vet tech we met next was also super friendly, lastly Dr. Jones came in. Dr. Jones calmed and reassured us that she would be ok. He was great and very personable. I would highly recommend this vet office.

Don't go here! I wish I would have had time to read reviews before my dog had an emergency. I am grief and guilt stricken over choosing to take my best friend Bobby to Veterinary Medical Clinic, Inc & Feline Wellness Center on 4241 Henderson Blvd, Tampa, FL 33629 for emergency after hours care on 9/18/20 at 7:45 pm.

I brought Bobby, to this vet due to close proximity when my vets office was closed. I had explained when dropping him off and with every staff member I talked to that he had pancreatitis attacks previously and his blood sugar is probably high. I asked at least four times to all four people I talked to test his blood sugar and explained that with quick care by his vets in the past that he was able to recover with treatment of hydrating him and administering an antibiotic shot. I kept getting transferred around to talk to different workers there.

I waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for them to take him back and then about 30 minutes later, someone called to tell me that they needed to do an x-ray and asked if this was okay. I said yes, but I wanted to know if the blood sugar was high ......and the person on the other line hung up. I called back to see what his blood sugar was, but no one picked up when I called back. When someone did call me back, they told me that they did an x-ray on Bobby and that will be $303.00. I then asked if his blood sugar was okay and she told me they have not tested it yet. I asked why would you take an x-ray before testing his blood sugar and the lady proceeded to yell at me that I gave permission to get the x-ray and I asked her to let me talk so I can explain what Bobby needs, but she kept yelling at me that I was talking over her. I then asked for her to bring my dog back to me and I would go somewhere else.

Someone called back and they finally tested his blood sugar and it was 415 (but it had been over 600 during last attack) but now that it is time for them to close at 11:00 pm, there is nothing they can do because he needs insulin. They said they would give me a referral to another after hours clinic (which they never did) and I asked if they could at least give him an antibiotic to treat the pancreatitis. They charged me for an office visit and for the antibiotics about $180.00 total (at least they took off the x-ray that triggered rage in the girl that talked to me earlier) but they did not even administer the first dose of the antibiotic or an antiobiotic shot. I open the packaging to give it to him and it is half a tablet, but no score to cut it.

I proceeded home to give him the antibiotic and find another after hours vet and my dog collapsed and died not even 30 minutes after leaving the vets office.

This was the worst veterinary emergency experience I have ever had and I have lost pets before. I now have guilt over wasting time going to a vet who did not care about my dog. They cared more about being in the right to charge me for services I did not need for my dog and they didn't want to administer the care that he needed.

They said they were concerned about his breathing but they were not concerned enough to make him a priority since it was urgent for him to get treatment quickly or he would die. I watched a car drive up after I arrived and 4 of the techs were out there for quite a while bringing in a dog that was dead on a gurney. I can't believe that took priority over a dog that needed urgent care and was still alive?

Now I had to say goodbye to my best friend surrounded by contempt and no compassion.

This business was referred to me by a good friend and now I know why. Each staff member that we met was courteous and professional, the room was large enough for my 95 lb dog to feel he could relax..... My dog was there for us to solicit a 2nd opinion on whether he has surgery or not. They encourage questions on ALL matters pertaining to my dog. His current vet doctor was not this thorough, by a long shot. They have earned our business and our trust.

They actually truly care about my dog. Going through a very difficult end of life situation with my 14yr old pup. These Dr's are amazing and Bob the assistant technician is the most comforting, compassionate vet employee I have ever met in my 40 years of visiting vets !!!! Top notch facility , staff and Dr's

Beware of the pricing here. I typically go to Hyde Park Vet but decided to try this place out because a friend recommended them for good pricing. They charged us $185 just to tell us nothing was wrong with our dog (who had been throwing up nonstop for over two days) and to give us some probiotics and an anti-nausea shot.

I took my cat October to Dr. Gray. He had a laceration toward the base of his tail. The team at VMC took him in quickly & kept him comfortable. Dr. Gray did a wonderful job stitching him up & keeping him comfortable before & after his surgery. The process of starting at a new place, with a new pet was seamless & everyone was very helpful & kind.

They broke down all the costs & recommendations for my cat. I picked & chose what my wallet could handle & we went from there.

I would 100% recommend this vet office to my family & friends from here on out.

Thanks VMC staff & Doctors!

We have been taking our pets to VMC for years, and their compassionate and professional care providers have seen us through the happiest days of puppy shots through to the most difficult days of illness and farewells. All of the doctors, techs and staff members are wonderful. We are especially grateful that our primary vet, Dr. Amber Parker, makes a point of staying well ahead of general veterinary medical knowledge and investigates matters thoroughly to ensure our pets receive the highest standard of care.

Great Vet in the South Tampa area. My dog has a lot of medical problems so I am always at the vet. I have been going to this location since I moved to Tampa in November. They have been wonderful. The wait time is always reasonable and they address all my concerns. Any time I need to get new meds or food for my pet I call in and they have it ready for me when I arrive. Thank you for taking care of my little man Logan!

I've been taking my cats here for a few years. I have been to many vets and this clinic has by far the kindest, most compassionate and knowledgeable vets I've experienced. My cats are elderly and sadly a few have crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge. All but one went to this vet for that final visit, and the cat that went somewhere else, I regret it every day, because his experience was nowhere near as calm and caring. Dr. Swank, Dr. Authement, and Dr. Mozinga have taken excellent care of my cats - I recommend any of these three doctors highly - and the cost of services has been much more reasonable than any other clinics I've visited. They always do what is best for your furbaby. Their vet techs are superb and very loving. Everyone here treats your cat as if it were one of their own. My kitties are going on 17 and they run and play like when they were kittens, thanks to these doctors keeping them in good health. I trust these doctors and clinic implicitly. If you take your kitty here - and they also see lots of doggies too - your animal will be well taken care of.

VMC has been our vet for many years and my wife and I love them for our cats. They have a separate Cat Clinic where it is more calm and less commotion to scare our cats. We drive all the way from New Port Richey to have them seen here.

I don't usually write reviews but I felt like I should in this case. A few days ago my cat was vomiting throughout the day and broke out in a terrible rash. Considering we rarely have had any problems with him, we were extremely concerned something might be very wrong. I felt terrible being that person bringing my cat in less than an hour before they closed. However, they were extremely kind and professional to my boyfriend and I the entire time. They went out of their way to answer any questions we had and since visiting, my cat has slowly been getting back to his normal self. The veterinarian we saw was also extremely kind and helpful. I really can't say more good things about their service and would recommend them to anyone with a sick fur baby.

Our beloved cat Cole's vet is Dr. Amber Parker who...

Our beloved cat Cole's vet is Dr. Amber Parker who is amazing. Dr. Parker coordinated Cole's successful treatment for a high grade lymphoma. When Dr. Parker examined Cole and saw the mass she immediately referred Cole to Dr. Peak (vet oral surgeon) who performed a biopsy on Tuesday and had the results on Friday diagnosing the mass as a high grade lymphoma. Upon Dr. Parker's recommendation we immediately took Cole to see Dr. Kane, Oncologist at Blue Pearl who recommended the Madison Wisconsin chemotherapy protocol which we concurred. Cole completed the chemotherapy and survived a remarkable 6 years. Most assuredly due to the prompt actions of Drs. Parker, Peak and Kane. Dr. Parker periodically called to check up on Cole.

Recently Cole developed a sublingual mass. Unfortunately both Dr. Parker and Dr. Peak who so expertly and promptly coordinated and diagnosed Cole's high grade lymphoma were on vacation so Dr. Tim Jones performed the biopsy on Cole's mass. Previously Dr. Peak performed the biopsy on a Tuesday and had the results on Friday enabling us to rush Cole to Blue Pearl for his chemo treatment.

Today is Friday and I have yet to hear from Veterinary Medical Clinic (VMC) as to biopsy results. Unfortunately my Cole stopped eating and I could smell the necrotic tissue in his mouth. I can only imagine how he has suffered. I could no longer stand by so I called in a hospice vet Dr. Nil Wilkins. Dr. Wilkins agreed that Cole was quickly declining and said euthanasia was an option at this point. However, we wanted to wait for the biopsy results from VMC. I called and no results. I called again and no results. I don't understand how Dr. Peak can get results in 3 days and it's taking VMC so long.

We could no longer wait and watch our beloved companion Cole suffer so we called Dr. Nil back and had Cole euthanized. We held Cole in our lap petting and talking to him as he gained his wings. This was one of the most agonizing decisions and experiences a pet owner can ever experience. However, I must say Dr. Nil was absolutely amazing. Dr. Nil cried with us.

I want to add that today VMC patient coordinator did get back with me and profusely apologized for the delayed biopsy. She indicated management would meet on Monday to discuss this incident.

Friday evening at 700PM Dr. Mozingo called with the lab results. Cole had squamous cell carcinoma with no humane treatment possible. Turns out we made the right decision to put our dear companion to sleep.

This indicates to me this clinic does care and I trust they will resolve this issue with IDEX which is the lab they use for the biopsies.
