The customer service is prompt and helpful. I feel like they actually want you to look good. You're not just some customer but rather a client. I only dock a star because getting refunded for alterations isn't the most convenient process.

Great quality suits and concierge was marvelous through the entire MTM process

Shopping online is always a crapshoot, and when you involve custom measurements, the mess-up factor increases a ton. Well, Black Lapel's professional concierge service handles all of those concerns and more. While I can't speak for other concierge reps, I was lucky enough to get helped out by Tanya, and she made my shopping experience with Black Lapel was absolutely perfect. From sending me swatches to making suggestions on self-measurements that looked off, Tanya was with me every step of the way. I ended up with a perfectly-fitting suit that received (almost as) many compliments on my wedding day. I definitely plan on shopping with BL again in the future, and those of you with reservations shouldn't worry (especially you get set up with Tanya).

I own several suits from BlackLapel and have been more impressed with each one. They are quick to correct minor issues but overall it is has been only great experiences with fit, quality, and customer service.

I ordered a suit and shirt from Black Lapel and I was extremely pleased with the whole process. I looked into suits from both Black Lapel and Indochino, but found the customer service to be much more responsive at Black Lapel. Indochino took up to 4 days to respond to some of my questions, but Black Lapel typically responded within 2 hours. They even responded to a late night question on a Sunday night within 2 hours! I ended up cancelling my swatch order from Indochino after they quoted me 6 weeks for swatch manufacturing; a timeline that is ridiculous and completely out of line. Black Lapel provided me free swatches and helped me decide on an appropriate fabric within my budget.

The fit of the suit was incredible and well exceeded my expectations. The only alteration is the hem in the front created too much break in the leg. The customer service was amazing; the response times, the wealth of knowledge, and the attitude were fantastic. I felt reassured throughout the process and I trusted them as a company. The suit fits better than the off the rack suits I own that cost two to three times as much. I've never had a dress shirt fit so well. I look forward to a long relationship to this suit and shirt.

I have purchased several shirts and suits from Black Lapel and have not been disappointed once.

Received a wet, moldy version of the suit that I ordered and nothing is being done to make it right, other than offering to reimburse me to have it dry cleaned. If I wanted a moldy suit I would've gone to Goodwill and gotten one for only $10.

I ordered a suit for my daughter's wedding. It arrived before it was promised. I love the style, the fit and the color. It looks amazing and is the best fitting suit I've ever owned. The service was outstanding. I'll definitely be ordering from Black Lapel again.

I've ordered three custom suits and my experience with their customer service has always been great! Do not expect the first suit to fit properly; it will likely need to be sent back for a remake which can add some time on to the process. However, my first-suit-remake, second, and third suits all came fitting quite well and only required minor tweaks. All three suits now fit extremely well.

They reimburse the alterations as well, and I've never had to fight them for the reimbursement. They are very friendly to work with and clearly put the customer first. I've even asked for some additional customizations beyond their standard options and they've been able to accommodate most of them and were upfront and honest about the ones they were unable to accommodate. I plan to order more suits in the future.

I've now bought two suits from black lapel (one of which is my wedding tuxedo!) and I highly recommend their service. The pieces I have ordered have fit well, and their offered tailor credit makes sure you get a garment made just for you.

Black Lapel is definitely my new favorite place to buy suits. First of all the suits are spectacular, great look, feel and fit. But that's not all, the black lapel team does its best to make sure you are more than satisfied with the product and well assisted throughout the process. Tanya not only puts up with my annoying pickiness, but she makes me feel like more than just a random customer, by encouraging all my annoying questions, replying so quickly to my concerns and even helps me choose ties for my suits that I bought from other brands.

Staff is very friendly and will bend over backwards to make sure what I get is perfect in terms of style and fit.

Great pricing too! It's the same price as going to Macy or something and getting the same quality suit. Only difference is you don't need to spend that extra $50 on tailoring yourself because they give you 75$ credit for tailoring.

First Impression: The first time I heard of 'Black Lapel' was when I complimented my colleague on his suit. He wore the 'Blue Windowpane Shadow Check Suit'. The suit was sharp, finely-detailed, and easy-on-the eyes. I couldn't take my eyes off it and just had to know where he got it from!

Quality & Alteration Process: As a female, it's quite challenging to find finely-detailed custom suits that have a well-tapered and polished look. So I was delighted to know the business specializes in custom suits. I had to make an alteration on my first suit jacket due to the sizing however, the staff made the alteration process a breeze. Since then I have ordered a total of 3 suits. (Shout out to Warren for giving me adjustment advice on how to give the suit more of an feminine touch!) In addition to the quality, the customer service is extraordinary. Their communication and actions are consistently prompt, professional and warm.

Price: I have always been willing to pay more for a quality suit & for a suit I feel excited to wear. Therefore, the even greater news is that the price point isn't outrageous. It's certainly worth the investment, especially when you need the suit in more of a formal setting.

7.28.17 - Ordered my first suit with J.G. who has been fantastic since day one. I'll update the review in 3 weeks after the initial fitting.

Perfectly fine experience, friendly staff as well, but the product is just "ok". After my initial fitting, 3 visits for tailoring (I was late, so I blew one of them), and a 4th visit just to pick the suit up, having yet another fit is no longer worth the time. Jacket and vest ultimately came out fine. The pants are a mess and have been from the start. 8 weeks total time spent, whereas competitors clock in at 2 weeks and less hassle. I don't plan on going back.

Great staff, top of the line suit materials and tailoring, helpful thru the step by step process. Best money spent on a suit, better than those name brands that are selling just a designers name.

Excellent price, personalized service, quality product

Simply the best online tailor there is. If you're thinking of going to Indochino or some other place, redirect yourself over to Black Lapel. The customer service is out of control good and the actual quality of the garments is superb. After having two shirts and two suits made by them, I'm a customer for life. The attention to detail is second to none. It's not going to be like walking down saville row, but for what it is, the experience is perfect.

I have been buying suits from Black Lapel since the Summer of 2013 (when Black Lapel was just getting off the ground). Since then, I haven't bought a suit from anyone else. It's simply because Black Lapel possesses that rare combination of high quality products, reasonable price points and a unrivaled personal touch. I can't say enough great things about Black Lapel. If you're on the fence about trying one of their products, I promise you won't regret it. If for some reason the fit isn't exactly to your liking, Black Lapel will spend their money to make sure it is perfect. I even wore a Black Lapel tux at my wedding. Got a suit here as a groomsman for a wedding. The fit and tailoring were excellent. I liked how we could choose our own lining and detail. Not sure how well the stitching will hold up, but otherwise the best looking suit I own.

I have used this company's services for the past 8 years and have had an excellent experience the entire time! As a tall guy (6'7") I can't buy anything "off the rack" at a department store. Black Lapel has been the answer to my prayers for the ability to dress sharply. Their customer service is great at follow-up on orders and confirmation of excessive size discrepancies and size changes. They've helped me with a few mistakes I've made along the way. Highly recommend this place!!

As compared to a traditional Men's clothing retailer, Black Lapel:

1. Is more reasonably priced (by a significant margin)
2. Has more personable employees
3. Produces much better results (and will alter your tux for free if the initial fitting unearths any issues)

The customer service offered by Black Lapel is outstanding. They are with you every step of the way, and are always incredibly courteous and helpful. Their products can be a little pricey, but the quality and service that accompanies your purchase is well worth it.

Suit fit perfectly. I was very impressed that I didn't have to take it to an alterations place. I will be ordering again from them very soon.

During 2015, I began researching on made-to-measure suit shops for my wedding and came to the conclusion that I would select Black Lapel for my MTM Suit, which I would use at my wedding.

I contacted them in February and had discussions about scheduling an appointment to have a style consultation and measurements done for my profile. The stylist that I got paired with was Christopher. I couldn't have asked for a better stylist. Measurements were done a few times and he had another stylist verify how the shoulders should be measured. He also explained the difference between Slim, Tailored and Standard Fit. I was surprised with the recommendation to go Slim Fit as I am a 5'8 225lb male. Never thought I'd honestly wear Slim Fit.

I chose the Blue Gray Birdseye Suit as a three piece with a white herringbone dress shirt. The details Chris had me custom on each made it feel like this would be a unique suit, just for me. I chose the Blue Gray Birdseye due to how universal it really could be. Not just for business, but formal and casual. Seeing the fabric in person made me really chose it but if you can't get to the showroom in NYC, I recommend asking for some fabric swatches. They recommend this because you never really know what the fabric will look like by just seeing it online.

After choosing all the customization and completing my profile, I placed my order. My three piece suit arrived a little earlier than expected and when I received my shipping notification from Fed Ex, that it would be leaving China, I could not believe that it arrived within 24 hours. Not only that but they left me a personal note in the box with congratulations on the upcoming wedding. A few weeks later I arrived back to the shop with my suit to have a "first try on" consultation to really nail down the alterations before the wedding.

I can personally tell you that I've never worn a suit that fit that well out of the box however Chris provided more input when I tried it on and really felt like some alterations should have been done. When my wedding came, my friends, family and wife's jaws dropped in amazement of how dapper and handsome this suit really made me. I'm not one to typically dress up but this sure makes me want to.

Give Black Lapel a shot, they sure make good quality and hands down better customer service than any off the rack shop I've ever been to.

I ordered 8 shirts and 1 3-piece suit from Black Lapel over the course of a year. Initially, I was very impressed by the entire operation - the people, the service the quality of product. However, unfortunately there was no consistency with the shirts - 3 of them didn't fit. When I raised this to Concierge, they asked me to send photos of me wearing the shirts, which I duly did. On review of the photos with their 'expert tailors', they acknowledged that they 'may not have fully accounted for your shoulder angle'. They said they would make the adjustments and pay extra attention to my measurements going forward. As for the 3 shirts which didn't fit me, Black Lapel suggested I go to a local tailor to have the collars adjusted and offered me 40% off my next short as a small token of appreciation. The onus and loss was on me. With a fail rate of 3 in 8 shirts and such a poor response from Customer Service, I have no intention of using them again. That said, they may have made improvements in their business since this occurred last year.

Always a great fit--easy, economical solution for people not easily fit by off-the-rack suits

The fabric is of great quality and the concierge service is great as advertised!! They're professional, pleasant, keeps in constant contact with the client, and responds in a timely manner.

The measurements are just right. They communicate with you well. The product shows quality and garners several compliments.

After using their self measurement tutorials I received a near perfect suit. My only issue was the pants were about half an inch too long. I believe this was my fault more than anything else. Their perfect fit policy would have taken care of this issue for free but I was in a pinch for time and went to a local tailor instead. Even the tailor noted how well built the pants were when I took them in. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my experience and I will be ordering my next suit form Black Lapel.

The quality and value of Black Lapel absolutely cannot be beaten. If you are concerned about buying made to measure clothes online, don't be. Every order I've made with Black Lapel literally could not fit any better. The customer service is outstanding as well.
