In all fairness, I applied for A LEVELS and ended up doing one instead of three because they were turned into btecs. In addition to this, health and social care hasn't been a great subject I chose as it's very unprofessional when coming to coursework! It's really disappointing! Another disappointing aspect is the complaint system the college use, on serveral occasions I've made complains about a subject, nothing was done on all occasions even when we were told to make a "formal" complaint we were then told what we did was not a "formal" complaint. We was left confused by health and social care as our teacher disappeared after Christmas leaving us with numerous cover teachers. Only now have we been given a permanent teacher. Another aspect about this college is the librarian, when on college breaks and we're doing work, if we even speak to ask a question to our peer from our subject we get told to leave for being too loud. However, on the bright side most teachers take responsibility and they teach well.

I am very thankful to the security at the college as they have made me feel very safe and have helped me a lot if i have had a difficult situation. They always walk round with a smile and ask me how i'm doing. They make me feel very welcome and happy at this college. I am thankful for all the support I have received and I know that if I ever needed someone to talk to I can go to the welfare team so thank you for making my time at college very enjoyable.

Currently studying UPS at Sutton college. We have recently come back from a great residential trip to Wales. It was great to have the opportunity to take part in canyoning, paintball in, Wight water rafting, climbing up snowdon and beach sports. The staff always keep us on our toes and motivate us. Looking forward to the next trip.

I am in my second year of A levels at Sutton college, studying maths, psychology and anthropology. My experience at this college has been amazing - the teachers make the lessons interesting and always ensure that everyone understands the content, and support each individual student to achieve their potential. Furthermore, my teachers have been extremely supportive in terms of some personal problems I've been having, and have gone out of their way to support my own wellbeing. I have also found that there is a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere throughout the college.

It's strange how Sutton campus is constantly being reviewed here with specific names pippipoup again and again. This leads me to believe that many learners are being coerced into writing these reviews for these names individuals. I attended this college and know for sure how bad it is. It attracts students who were not able to get into the better colleges and low performing individuals from schools. Rated three by Ofsted again.

The interview procedure seems very disorganised. My stepson has had 2 interviews there, recently, and on both occasion he had to wait at least 30 minutes after his appointment time before they came to interview him. Rather than interviewing people in small numbers, they seem to have "interview evenings" where they get maybe a hundred people in for interviews. Quite simply, they can't cope with the workload on the evening.

After my second year here I can officially say this is literally the WORST school I've ever known, they can't teach, the kids can't learn, the college's only saving grace is the slightly attractive male that works there.
Honestly if I had a choice I would have chosen somewhere else, maybe BOA or something like that.
Sort out your act because my kids will never come here, you have systematically ruined thousands of careers and you should be ashamed.
If you want my BMC ask, I'll gladly own up to trashing this place, because y'all suck the meat.

Most of the teachers are responsible, but some teachers in certain departments are immature and unprofessional. I've had my assignment lost by my teacher and I've been told the problem was that I "didn't have copies". They don't take responsibility for their own actions. I've tried numerous times to contact a higher authority by complaining, but nothing happend. We was left in the middle of our course by our teacher, and we haven't had a good permanent teacher until now, because of shortages in staff.
However, most of the teachers are super friendly and care about you. Also, the security guards take their role seriously which makes you feel safe.

Giving this place a one star is generous. They preach about diversity and inclusion, yet that seems to be propaganda to promote their college. If you have any disability, I urge you to consider somewhere else that you will like and feel more included. The security is lacking and unprofessional - a criminal could get in and you'd be completely unaware. My time here was hellish and unwelcoming - and I'm not exaggerating, in fact, I'm understating. If you want a prospering college that has all your wants and needs, look somewhere else because you'll find none of the above in that poor excuse for a college.

Not a good college for those studying non-A level subjects. They lie and take your money. There were also racist incidents where an ILEX law student told me to go back to my country. Oh well that's life I guess for someone who happens to be non-white. There were some issues with the timetables as well, lessons canceled or no room available. Oh I had to buy my own textbooks too. I wish I had not wasted 2 years studying here. ;_;

I literally have nothing to say except S*it!!
I mean the year has just started for me there and I already hate how the staff has been interacting with the students.
Not to mention the student services that take such a Looooooong time to even sort the travel pass matter out! It took me 1 hour to claim it!!!

Pros: College has many courses to study with teachers that are ok at teaching.
Cons: The technology at this college , is Atrocious! Old computers that were probably bought in 2007.
Rooms between floor 5 and 6, have no windows! so you need to have at least 3 fans in a room to keep the temperature at a regulative level (Architects who designed this room, have no idea what window are apparently). Towards summer, rooms become so hot, it's almost feels like you're going to faint.

Always freezing in classrooms because radiators were always off
Canteen too small and short staffed resulting in queue always coming out of canteen
Staff go round asking students to write positive reviews online
Classrooms were always limited and sometimes overbooked
Wasted revision time being sent to tutorial and 1 2 1's

Where do I begin? This college has to be one of the worst. My experience has been nothing but torture for two years of my life, a wasted two years. I have hardly learned anything in my time here, other than the fact the college is just awful.
I got here on my first day and everything seemed pretty cool, everything was going well, but then the problems began... Two of our lecturers left the college for an unspecified amount of time (understandable medical reasons), and we were left with no lecturers to teach our lessons two months. TWO MONTHS where we had nobody, the organisation of this college is shocking, almost non-existent. When they finally pulled their finger out to give us cover, they were nothing short of terrible. One lecturer had to Google search each lesson before he began, this lecturer had been teaching this subject for over a decade by the way. The other was just horrible, didn't have a damn clue. I don't know how but I managed to pull through the year.
The second year has been more of the same, coming to sign up for the second year they somehow enrolled me into Matthew Boulton campus, despite the fact that I have been at Sutton Coldfield campus for the whole of the first year, good start. the teacher who left last year came back for this year... Then left after a month for good. He had a mental breakdown in the lesson and left. Throwing the class back into a very familiar position.
Most of the staff here are just unhelpful, they blunder around a lot. The staff in the canteen are just clueless, one woman needed a calculator to work out what 10 - 2 was, this didn't help my view of this place, especially after everything that has happened to our class. They also never seem to have beans, like ever.
The only upside is that Dagen was one of the most helpful people in this place, once he became aware of our situation he did everything he could to try and resolve the problem. Once it hit the fan again he actually stepped in to teach us personally, and he really is a great teacher. Quite frankly, one of the few good things about this place and it is a shame.
This college has caused me to almost hate a subject that I had a lot of love for. If you have any interest in courses here please just don't, I would hate for any more lives to be thrown around and ruined by this hell hole. It's a horrible and depressing mess.

For the past 2 and half years since i've left school. I've been doing Apprenticeships in the Business Department. Firstly Business Administration and Customer service with Jane Lemm who was an amazing assessor and got me all the help i needed to pass the qualifications. I also completed ICT level 1. I'm currently working as a team leader and my new assessor is Chris Rademacher and also doing ICT level 2 at Birmingham College. I've only started my team leading apprenticeship a few weeks ago and have already been enter into a aspiring talent award for Birmingham! The great thing about my teachers are you can tell its not just about the wage for them, they really care about getting the best future and results for there students. All the college class's i've attended have been amazing and a new learning experience, they always made sure i've achieved my goals! The college has made me feel welcome and apart of their team. Im very grateful for learn with BMET, Teachers are greet! Work is Great! Environment is Great. I honestly have nothing bad to say as if there has ever been a problem or issue its always been resolved, so we can get the best out of the opportunities given. I like to say a big thank you to Jane and Chirs for being such great roll models to me.

The Student Welfare team and Dan are really supportive when it comes to helping their students. They ensure the students safety and always walk around with a smile on their faces. This makes me and other student feel comfortable when walking into this relaxed environment which others may find rather daunting. This college is racist. I was called racial names by other students. Plus the way they deliver vocational courses is terrible. I had to end up paying for the second year because all of a sudden, government funding was withdrawn. This is one awful college. They have no respect for their students, especially ethnic minority students. Just put up a sign and say Only White Students if you are so bothered by ethnic minorities.

I'm currently in my second year of forensic science, these two years have been the best years I remember in education. My experiences in secondary school left me without faith in education, and I had no intention of continuing to university. Now I do all work to the best of my ability and have been offered and unconditional place at the university of Lincoln. All of my teachers have helped massively to encourage me and help with any problems I have had, this has helped me become much more confident and determined. I'm very grateful for everyone in the college for being so supportive and friendly during my time here.

Very dissatisfied with the lack of inadequate communication at this college! I was hoping to enrol for an Access course in Social Science. I attended the taster day back in March 2017 completed both Maths & English initial assessment, had a 1-1 interview, and was given a conditional offer. I thoroughly enjoyed what the college had to offer. Everything seemed great, right? (For now at least) Few months past... and I then got a letter saying that I needed to attend on the 16th August to enrol officially. (Great!) However; upon arrival they were no relevant tutors there, so they couldn't enrol me 'properly' - fair enough. I was told to come back the following Monday (21st August) yet again the exact same incident occurred! By now my patience was growing thin. Third time lucky! and the tutors were there on hand to offer advice; they informed me they'd stoped the Access to Social Science course due to insufficient numbers of people attending last year. Apparently it was a 'last minute decision'. Unfortunate for me. My point is due to poor communication this could have been avoided. Instead I wasted a lot of my time and effort. It also left me in a predicament for a brief while; as I had to find another college that provides the same course. Not good enough, sort it out. Please!

Courses are overpriced for the level of teaching. I'll point out a few cons with this college:
- Classroom aren't big enough.
- Teachers are lazy and rely on slides on a big screen.
- The security seem to harass a lot of the students.
- The fire procedure, is ridiculous.
- The computers are slow and to access your work requires a password which never works.
-Also, not a lot of information is shared about courses till after you've enrolled.

I attended Sutton college and left there after having studied english language, law and psychology which gave me all of the skills I needed to gain a place in Aberystwyth university studying psychology. I believe the education I recieved there really did create a solid foundation for my later success. The staff employed there are simply wonderful and really care about teaching and making a difference to the lives of their students. My time at Sutton College changed my life for the better and gave me memories I'd never want to forget.

This is from a student who has been at the college...
This is from a student who has been at the college for 2 years, 1st year doing A-levels, this year doing BTEC because of grades/teacher issues (more to that in a while).
Interview process:
1 word: Chaos. The system itself was confusing to the staff, who were supposed to be trained with the system. Staff were really apologetic about the system, but nevertheless, eventually i had gotten my ID card and timetable (the good stuff).
2nd year interview process was terrible. Let's begin with the good... Dagen being awesome. There we go. Now for the bad - due to my grades - which i admit are to an extent my fault (teachers fault too due to timetable changes and teacher changes etc. etc.) i had to wait for a senior manager to come and give the a-okay for the interview to go ahead. That step alone took forever. Whilst waiting, I saw staff being put under massive stress because the system - yet again - wasnt properly ready or the staff weren't trained to deal with the actual system. When a manager eventually came along he was very confusing and eventually confused me to the point of asking my mom - who was working at the time - to come to college and help me out as i was confused as to what they were trying to do (They didnt explain the course level properly and got me confused because a friend was on the course i wanted to be on with worse grades and no-one explained it was BTEC at the time.). So after 30mins of waiting for my mum, me and a friend who had already done his interview in the space of 5-10mins talked about how the systems were getting slower and slower. After my mum arrived, the manager had dissapeared for 10mins, and when i found him, he explained a tiny bit of what was going on and then he had to go, meaning Dagen - awesome guy - had to come all the way from Birmingham to explain to me what the course was and everything - because apparently it was really difficult for a manager with access to the entire college network and the internet to find out course information. It then took 20mins to do the next steps (timetable and ID card) before i could finally go home and curl up in a corner to cry.
Campus:
Computers are... rubbish. Dedicated ICT rooms have worst computers than in the LRC (Library area). Running on 2gig RAM and a Pentium processor for coding and database management (for my classes) does not equal a happy nor fun time for me. In the LRC, they have 8gig RAM and even i5/i7 processors (Latest generation of processors (6th gen)).
The hallways are mostly alright, with some minor complaints about the whole building layout, but its too late to change that.
Teachers are mostly good, one in particular - Dagen - is amazing when it comes to being organised and being helpful, he makes it a point to be there for the students, and doesnt tolerate system failures - he even goes to the lengths of teaching lessons himself even though he's the head of ict for 3 campuses (unsure if it's 3...). But that's this year. Last year, history was a mess. We had a really nice teacher for about 2 months, then it went "alley-oop" into the rubbish bin, teacher after teacher, all replacing each other, until Tracey came and "saved" us. Whilst she is an amazing teacher (and she does know her stuff), the lessons were completely messed up because of all the timetable issues and all of the teacher changes.
Fire procedures are shabby to begin with; one fire alarm is constantly beeping because maintenance staff aren't changing it's batteries, and the actual fire drills are unorganised. Just last month we had a fire drill which no-one knew about... Because a student (they still dont know who) pressed the fire button. Fire drills (the actual ones) are coreagraphed poorly - the staff and students are forced into a funnel, because one fire exit isn't properly maintained or used by either.
