Bikram Yoga Dunedin Reviews

Poor, hard to hear instruction, and way too intense for a beginner class. Not recommended.

Although I normally really enjoy hot yoga, I recently had a very negative experience here with a staff member who was aggressive and rude. My concerns didn't seem to be taken seriously after I brought this to the attention of management. I would not recommend this place.

Been to a couple classes here. The first class is free which is a bonus as yoga is quite pricey. The first class I went to (bikram) was good I just had an issue with the instructor as she didnt allow someone to leave the room when they were clearly struggling and finding the temperature difficult to handle. I have also tried a yin class which was enjoyable and the instructor seemed more friendly.

Nice and clean studio, lovely and welcoming staff! One of my favourite places, would highly recommend.

Truly wonderful classes, teachers, and community. I came for the intro deal, and over 100 classes later yoga is an integral part of my weekly routine. The first couple bikram classes are challenging, but I SO recommend sticking with it -- the benefits I get from bikram, inferno, and yin (my favorites) for both my physical health and general wellbeing are tangible. Highly recommend!

I have been traveling leading workshops and teacher trainings for years. Really loved the community at this studio in New Zealand. They welcomed me with open arms and made it difficult to leave. The studio and it's teachers are first class. I look forward to returning to lead programs there in the future. An unforgettable place!

My niece and I have had a terrible experience here this afternoon. The instructor was rude, forceful and self-centered.

The instructor told us not to leave the room despite us reaching our heat tolerance and comfort level. This is a petty and irresponsible engagement of adults in a yoga class.

I've been doing yoga for years and encountered many teachers.

During my visit in Dunedin I've searched with my niece for a wholesome venue to have a positive shared yoga time but ended up totally shocked and appalled at the experience we had.

There's nothing that I experienced today that was consistent with yoga values, like compassion and kindness.

Looking at previous reviews, this appears to be the culture of this studio.

I started going here recently because some of my injuries, especially my shoulder blade, after attending Bikram, I can really see difference. Good classes and teachers.

Wonderful studio. Centrally located with great facilities. The Instructors know what they re doing, and really care about their students. We are all ages and shapes, from all walks of life, and after a class there is a real sense of camaraderie.

Love this studio! All the teachers are highly knowledgable and have something unique to offer. Wonderful range of classes, Bikram, Flow, Hot Pilates and Yin (the full spectrum!). If your into regular practice, go for the unlimited monthly deal...great way to add more yoga/goodness to your life! :)

My first serious encounter with bikram yoga was with the team at hot yoga dunedin and I loved it, even with all the sweat pouring out of people each class, the studio was always clean and smelled surprisingly good! sure, some classes were better than others but that was mostly because of the day I had, food I ate, (to little) water I drank etc.
Apart from a nice studio I liked the techers a lot! They corrected me where needed, pushed me when needed and there was always someone smiling to answer questions at the counter!

I understand why people find it tricky not being able to leave the hot room once they get out of their comfort zone but it's part of the practice, the students are in a meditative state trying to zone out and blindly follow the dialogue given by the teacher so they can focus on themselves, how they feel, remembering to correct themselves and of course breathe!

Overall a solid 10/10. Hot yoga dunedin has played a big part in the recovery of my back problems and I'll be forever thankful! I cant wait to continue my practice at my next destination and I'll keep this going for the rest of my life.

I have been practicing hot yoga at this studio for 10 years now. The range of classes is awesome. I practice yin, Bikram and inferno pilates. I cannot rate the place more highly. The teachers are professional, caring and friendly. The studio is like a sanctuary and has the added bonus of being a warm place on a cold Dunedin day! I'll admit that the first few classes were difficult and people can sometimes be overwhelmed (e.g. by the heat). But the instructors make sure to look after those who are struggling in the room. Most importantly, the benefits the practice are so worth it. Mental clarity, physical strength, a sense of community and much needed "me" time. Thank you to all the wonderful teachers over the years that I have been practicing for your aroha (love) and tautoko (support). Ng mihi nui ki a koutou!

had the worst yoga experience of my entire life here. i went expecting a fun & upbeat time, but the teacher was condescending and frankly mean. she publicly addressed a girl who was trying to leave to get water because of the extreme heat, and nearly screamed at her not to step outside of the studio. maybe just a fluke but i will never return!
