Great location on maison st. We were greeted with a dazzling smile and accommodated in the best possible way. Very welcome is the breakfast bag with apple and water and brioches which helps to face the city tour. (That water costs!)

Internet is slow and unreliable. TV only has basic channels.

The street is so loud they have to offer ear plugs (which are not refilled the next day).

I get that u are in the tenderloin and there isn't much you can do about it but the hotel disappointed on things that are under it's control. I look forward to never staying here again

I came here for dinner and drinks. I didn't understand how expensive it was, and I'm not really the right clientele. Enjoyed my drink, the duck was wonderful. Appetizers were expensive delicious goo that I didn't pay attention to. I left hungry.

The overall location is nice, though the immediately surrounding area is a bit sketchy. Bring earplugs or be prepared to run the fans kept in the closets to drown out the street noise.

I had some initial issues with an "urban fee", but the GM cleared it up. Thank you for your help.

Clean rooms, well maintained, friendly staff. Location is a mixed bag. Very close to Union Square, Convention Center and Subway line - 5 Star location in that regard. 1 star location when it comes the constant presence of drugged and drunken groups of people screaming all night. Literally without more than a minute or two at a time. Sits at the very edge of the Tenderloin district, which is not a positive. Its a trade off here, with a wonderful hotel in an almost great location.

Friendly staff gave us the option of a quiet or 'view' room. Not afraid of a little city noise, we took the view and were not disappointed. Fun accommodations with movie themes to every room. Older place, so be forewarned that this is not for those looking for a modern hotel experience. We had a great experience though!

The hotel doesn't have AC which was very needed as temps reached 38 celsius when we were there last week. Plus the shower water temp was also erratic depends if other people in other rooms were showering too, I guess. In fairness, it is an old building that is "in transition." Our room was facing the street and it was very noisy even with the windows closed. Front desk people were very nice and gave us an electric fan!

I give 3 stars for the staff. But for location and stru ture I give it a 1 . We stayed here on a weekend with a record breaking heat of San Francisco. We had to open the windows and use a fan because they have no AC, I dont mind that but when the windows open you could hear and "smell everything". I'm a second hand marijuana smoker after that night.

Close to the Union Square and Powell station. Nice room. Ask refrigerator to bring it to the room at the concierge. No elec-kettle in the room, but in the lobby.

It is close to Union Square and Powell station, and facilities are good. Refrigerator should be requested in the lobby. If the coffee pot is not in the room,

Staff was really great and deserve 5 stars. That being said, the room was nice enough. A little worn but old school for sure. Some of the room towels were pretty nasty and should have been thrown out and replaced. No A/C and lots of street noise. Good location to get somewhere else. More homeless people on the street than I have ever seen though. Not a place to bring your kids. Bar next door ensured I got a good night's sleep!

We found ourselves very well, kind staff and rooms spacious enough and clean. Located very close to Union Square and close to public transport stations. The side street in the evening is not recommended but just go to the center and avoid that street

The hotel really needs some upgrade, as the room were pretty basic and the carpet is old. The location is great, near all the shops (including Union square!), restaurants and bars, and at a walking distance to the Moscone convention center (we were in San Francisco for a conference). But it is also located on a really loud street, especially at night (mostly people screaming at each other). This made it hard to sleep well at night, as we were hearing all the noises from the street if we opened the windows, or really uncomfy from the heat if we kept the windows closed (no AC nor fans).

Otherwise, the service was excellent. The receptionists were all helpful and welcoming. The doorman was really nice too!

@HotelBijou Their are many reasons that ill write about my review, shall we get started ? First reason, homeless out side the building. Oh my hell that was disturbing seeing with my eyes the disgistingness of homeless outside, Jesus I wonder if i was safe after a homeless grouled at me like a dog, it scared me down to the bone so then i encounter problem number 2. The location, that place it is a nightmare when you think of worst ways of being dead this is your home drug dealers, prostitutes all the worst imaginable things are here. Last 3. No god dam ac really? Owner does it really cost that much to place an ac you are freak en rich ass and you wont place one ? Your are not a man of god you atheist. Greed is a sin. That's why i give it 2 stars. I Know You Don't advertise A/C but, why not place one ?

The hotel is located in a shady place with drug addicts roaming around Right outside the entrance. Even the staff can be very impolite. We asked for drinking water at Midnight and miss Nova at the front desk rudely asked us to go out and buy water from a corner store as the hotel had no drinking water. She wasn t even apologetic. I m staying with a toddler and am shocked that the hotel was incompetent to provide drinking water. they say they have WiFi, but it doesn t work half the time.

The room was fine. Very clean. I like the style of the hotel. It is very traditional. The man at the reception was very friendly and helpful. The only sew that I did not like, was the many vagabonds that walked on the hotel

Positive: very centrally located, nice and courteous staff

Negative: extremely loud. The walls are thin, you can look everywhere through the door gap in the hallway. You can hear someone in the room next door who blows his hair. It is being rebuilt, hopefully it will be better. The room has no air conditioning, no safe and certainly no fridge. Windows would not open, it is too loud outside and with us the room was full of small flies.

Only positive side .. is in the center. For the rest there is no a / c ... which forces you to keep windows open all night (in the room there is a crazy heat) with consequent noise and smell of eating and BARBONI SUDICI. Breakfast ?? 2 stars !! They don't speak Italian! as I read on some site. Clean but SMALL rooms. THAT SAY ... BETTER SPEND SOME DOLLARS MORE AND GO TO ANOTHER HOTEL

Not really customer-focused service. Charged our credit card for a stay that was prepaid. They didn't notice their 600$-mistake.
When I called they did not really apologize, refused to refund the credit card fees.

This hotel is a gem. It separates downtown's scruff from the higher scaled area. It was clean and charming. The prices are great and they have great coffee, cider and tea. They also have a Theatre. This isn't an upscale hotel but it's definitely a place for creatives who like something a tad different for a low price. It's also safe. There are a lot of homeless in this area but they're very friendly. They helped me find close free parking and I had an untouched car to return to! This place was dope. And they gave us the rest of the wine!!

I just don't get all people in the reviews complaining about homeless people roaming around at night! You can literally see them all over the Bay area, and there is nothing hotels can do about it. Address your concerns to the City Mayor and SF's Department of Homelessness instead.

We stayed in the hotel from September 4th to 11th, and it was wonderful.
Staff is polite and hospitable; if some days we didn't need the room to be cleaned, they would call us and ask if we need extra towels. There was also small breakfast in the morning and coffee/tea all day long.

The only thing I wished for was a fridge in the room as we always had some food leftovers.

Decent hotel, however the place is too old to be considered a 3.5 star hotel. There's no AC in the whole building, so it gets pretty hot in the room. Tv doesn't really work either and its very loud outside with all the homeless people out. Rooms are decent with 2 beds and a bathroom. The bathroom is the best part of the rooms though. I would search other hotels for a better experience.

The room was nice with a good bathroom but the a/c didn't work although we didn't bother too much. The free water bottles is such a nice touch and the location is decent but kind of in a weird part of town. The breakfast cost $8.00pp and it was not good at all. The bar downstairs is pretty happening but was closed off for a private event which was kind of weird that no one else could grab a drink. The agents were pretty friendly and in all, it did the job.

Location: is not the best location, but when you go inside it is another world. 3 Room: (312) access by elevator behind the lobby, one card open your door, and extra look when you are there sleeping. All clean, TV, Cable, furniture to put your clothes, big mirror, one desk, one closet. 5 Service: was so kind, and everything explained. Even we received 2 drinks for courtesy. :) 5 Breakfast: pay 12 dlls (each one), regular breakfast and clean tables. 4

The hotel is beautiful and very clean. The receptionists very nice and nice. The only bad thing is its location since it is located in an area where vagrants are crowded, I do not recommend arriving much later than ten o'clock at night and never look at the vagabonds in the eyes since I have heard that some react badly .

Hotel Bijou isn't going to have all the amenities and it could be an inconvenience to deal w/o A/C for some. But, they made up for it with customer service. They not only were helpful to me with a mixup on my end, but I saw their staff go out of their way to help some traveling honeymooners with car troubles.

Expect to pay an extra $350 if you have a vehicle....

Expect to pay an extra $350 if you have a vehicle. Here is the thing. You can either leave your car parked on the side of the road with 100% chance of finding a homeless drug addict sleeping in it in the morning OR you can pay a large valet fee in which they will leave your car parked on the street until you get an even larger parking ticket fee. The BEST part? They will not reimbursed you or even tell you that they're not going to. They just will stop responding to you completely. Horrible experience. Not to mention the bathrooms makeshift bathfan (idk what else to call it) opened into what looks like a dirty insane asylum from the 1800s, I don't even want to know what kind of vermin or bugs make their way into the room.

ALL I WANTED WAS FOR MY PARKING TICKET TO GET PAID SINCE I PAID FOR VALET AND THE PARKING OVERNIGHT FEE. LOUSY SERVICE AND A LOUSY HOTEL. I emailed the supervisor a copy of my ticket that matches with the street and time of my check in. I've waited almost 3 weeks, while calling in every other day. Just find a different place to stay, this isn't worth the headache.

I paid 45 a night for Valet parking, I received a parking ticket in the mail for $140 dollars time stamped an hour after I checked in in front of the hotel. I've contacted the hotel multiple times over the past 2 weeks now and the general manager only tells me shes looking into it and will call me back. I had a good stay otherwise but won't be returning due to this level of poor customer service.

On the one hand, this is one of only a few hotels in Union Square that I can afford. On the other hand, there's a reason for that. This hotel is right in the edge of the Tenderloin (which has some very unscrupulous characters right outside my window). The smell of marijuana constantly wafted into my room, and thin walls. Worst of all, one of my friends was attacked by bedbugs.
Some good points of this hotel: good price close to Union Square, nice bathrooms, nice people, and a guarded front door.

The staff was excellent, friendly, welcoming and helpful. Got to meet the owner and he was friendly and attentive. The hotels lobby is under construction but it's not a big deal since they are finishing it up. I got an impression that they are trying very hard to improve the place. The rooms are hot and there is no AC. If the window is left opened you get to hear bunch of lunitics outside the hotel yelling all night long. I mean literally mentally ill homeless people screaming all night. It could be a little intimidating at first but I got an impression that they are harmless for most of the time. There was a light smell in the room that was covered up with an air freshener. The bathroom looked freshly renovated and clean. I wish they did the whole room in tiles instead of a carpet. Clean room over all. Breakfast is a bottle of water, coffee, teas, orange and yogurt.

A very central hotel in the heart of San Francisco. The hotel room was well kept, the bed a bit shaky, but very cozy. The bathroom is new and it was toothpaste, mouthwash, house slippers and much more available, which you at other hotels miss . The volume was louder than other hotels, but it still read well sleep (but Oropax were at the bedside table available).

The selection at the breakfast buffet left a lot to be desired, but there are enough alternatives in SF.

It is true that many of his workers helped us a lot and made our stay a pleasure, but it was precisely a boy at the door who seemed to bother ... he did not even worry about getting up to open the door and got angry because we did not understand his signs From behind the counter. He did not explain to us that we should pay the fees (he only told us "initials here, here and sign here") and when I tried to read the document he only said "fast, fast" also although there was a sign on the door that prohibited smoking he went out to smoke and got in the same door. The insecurity of the streets surrounding the hotel (drug traffic that we clearly saw from the window, screams and fights and even heard some sounds that might seem like shots) make it as much as you want to give your guests a good experience it is impossible to take away A good image of the hotel, yesterday we had to run to the hotel because a homeless drug addict was following and unbelieving us. We get bad image of San Francisco. I neither recommend it nor would I return
