Big Dog's Smokehouse BBQ Review

We waited a while to review from our August wedding because we wanted to live in our happily married bubble instead of focusing on the negative, but oh my was this the WORST experience of our wedding. Don t get me wrong, the food was delicious! We were won over by the owner Cheryl s customer service and personally during our first visit. The quote we were given was a great price as well. But once we had everything paid in full about 1 month out, everything started going south. We go to pay our final payment, and our quote goes up about $600-700. Annoying, but we paid it because it was so close to our day and deposits were already made. We get 2 weeks down the road, and receive a voicemail stating that gratuity and taxes were left off, so we had to pay an additional $700-800, after taking the gratuity down because of their error. And of course, you can t pay with card unless you want to be charged an additional 15%, so we had to take time out of work week to get a physical check and deliver it. And then they showed up after 4 when our wedding started at 4:30. We waited about an hour in between ceremony and reception, and then after everyone was announced, we stood awkwardly in front of everyone for about 15 minutes because the food was still not ready. When I went up for seconds (as the bride) I was denied because they ran out of plates. They took it upon themselves to substitute some portions of our meat with pork...not a huge deal, but why when we didn t order that?! They still set up tip jars after charging us gratuity. And then Cheryl came to me in the middle of the dance floor and got snarky with me about not having a plan for left overs. We raved about them for so long leading up to our wedding, we went in frequently leading up to it because the food was so good, but we will NOT be going back and will not recommend them to anyone!

Got the brisket sandwich at the recommendation of the owners daughter with the spicy bbq sauce! Pretty delicious and tender! Recommending here to coworkers. If you stop by here, definitely plan to be wowed.

We love BBQ and had been meaning to try this place out for some time. We're glad we did -- the pulled pork is great and the atmosphere is fun. After placing and paying for our order, my husband had second thoughts and regretted not ordering baked beans. He went back and asked to order just a side of the beans, but when it didn't qualify for the minimum debit card purchase, he told them to not worry about it.

When the server brought out our order, she also brought a side of baked beans and said, "the manager wanted you to have this." I thought that was really nice. Based on the service and the quality of the food, we will definitely be eating there again!

This is going to be a long review so I apologize ahead of time . I just want to say this is the best BBQ place I have ever had . My bestfriend would always rant and rave about how good Big Hoffa's in Westfield was so my family and I tried it one day and I wanted to die . It was so gross . Well .. my boyfriend and I went on a date night this past weekend on the dinner train from Noblesville to Cicero and this is the only place on their website that interested me . No offense to Erika's Place or the other locals , but I eat at Erika's Place a lot and I didn't want something typical (pizza , pasta , etc) . I was a little afraid to go here at first because of the problem I had at Big Hoffa's , but I did anyway . I called ahead for a reservation (and thank god I did) and they were the sweetest bunch of people I've ever encountered . Their food was AMAZING , especially their baked beans (ohhh myyy goooooodnessss) . I think I could probably eat an entire container and then some ! My boyfriend and I aren't even engaged yet , but we both said .. "this place is catering our wedding" ! Haha . Fantastic place , sweet people with a cute little environment . I would definitely recommend this place over Big Hoffa's or any other BBQ place around .. even if you have to drive a little bit further for them !!!

It s so gross here. I dropped the plastic water bottle they gave me on the floor. It was covered in dirt and grime. Foods was ok, but the buns weren t cooked and were soggy, meat was dry, sauces were boring, and service was horrible. I will never be coming back. The only reason I gave it a 1 star was because there is no option for 0 stars. shake my head. Also, bathroom, dishonorable.

Best pulled pork in the country. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

I ordered the family pack, with brisket, chicken, pork, and half rack, basically everything and it came with 8 sides, staff is very friendly, food is awesome, sauces are great, the only problem I had was the sides, although you got 8, they where such small of portions that they couldn t feed the whole family and definitely won t last till all meat is gone! Other then that it is great!

I've had a lot of BBQ and this has to be the worst I've ever had. Not something I would state lightly. I hate to say it because I'm always rooting for local. I wanted to love it... another good BBQ place nearby, what's not to hope and dream for?

Unfortunately the meat was not cooked correctly for true BBQ. There was zero smoke flavored, internal meat should be pink (which is what happens when cooked slow and at the correct low temp). Unfortunately the meat was brown and not as tender as it should be (all forgivable provided the flavor is there, unfortunately it was not.

Pulled pork had zero flavor. Brisket sliced into thick pieces like pot roast (not pull apart tender) and had almost zero flavor. Rib tips had a slight bit of flavor but were dry (which is forgivable as they are rib tips) only a pinch of flavor. Mac n cheese had a creamy yet mushy consistenty as if it had been sitting under a warmer all day.

I will however mention that the staff was helpful and friendly. The decoration and atmosphere were also original and great.

Unfortunately due to the quality of food we will not be going back.

Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. I would rate it higher, but I sat waiting over 40 minutes for what I thought was a simple to go order when it wasn t even busy (mostly empty when I arrived), and then the chicken had no flavor, other than the sauce. Tasted like bland baked chicken with BBQ sauce on it....no smoked flavor to the meat. However, the person who ordered the pork said it was very flavorful. This was my first visit, and I will give it another try in the future. Hopefully I will be able to rate it higher next time.

Great food...Great atmosphere!!!..will go back again!

Very much a mom-and-pop shop. The food was delicious, the Ambiance was great the service was really good, and overall a wonderful dining experience. I had the salmon, okay, I know I should have ordered ribs, but it was pretty good, and my wife had pulled pork and that was delicious. Might be a bit out of the way but it really is a good place to have ribs and to enjoy. If this review helps, check "
