This is a lovely setting. The food we had was lovely and the staff welcoming.

Not a good report..after 8 years twice or three times a year meeting up for a family meal we were very disappointed...There was only a carvery option for lunch which was a great fail.
The plates were cold and so was the food...so as a family we will give this Hotel a miss for a while...such a shame as it was a great meeting place central to everyone...

Went to charity event Saturday 27 march ,for a drink and some food ,ran out of Jameson's at 8, ran out of Bacardi at 8.45 and food at 9.00 not what one would expect from all well organised organisation

Attended a meeting at the ilminster based hotel. Everything as to be expected, kind friendly staff and a 'good pint of beer ' on tap

Went for a carvery lunch event. The food was good, if slightly on the bland side. There was a shortage of waiting staff so it took a long time to clear the tables and for pudding to be served. Overall the hotel was nice and the staff were pleasant.

Nice and central spot for our Christmas parties. Food if not a veggie or vegan is fine and the staff are great. Hotel feels a little tired and needs a bit of money and love spent on it

A little gem of a place. 3 of us travelled for work, met up for dinner, relaxed, slept well, hassle free, relaxed breakfast. All away from The hub-hub and hassle of the motorway and cities, beautiful views, no question, I'd recommend this place to get your head down in. Surprisingly cheap, Good vfm, worth every penny,

Very disappointed with dog friendly queen room which are in the outbuildings which need updating inside and out ,but on a positive staff friendly and breakfast was good

Always had to wait and rarely had a member of staff at the bar when we wanted to order

Nice and friendly ataff hotel a little dated but food as in meal, lunch amd dinner was fantastic..

Renovated rooms are ok. Food needs some improvement.

Simply brilliant classic hotel where the staff are attentive, the food exceptional and the ambience perfect.

It was just for one night. We appreciated how they managed to get spacious rooms out of an old building. And they were also tidy and well furnished. The building itself is sort of a maze, but it is part of the atmosphere.The dining room was just perfect and the pub area was nice and casual.

I stay here fairly often when on business. The hotel is good with decent rooms - although for the first time mine wasn't as good as before (hence 4 stars.) The staff are good and the restaurant is decent. All in all good for an overnight stay.

Its ok for bed and breakfast,we wouldn,t use it for a special occaision.We stayed at christmas electric went out at lunch time leaky sun lounge roof,no atmosphere hardly any christmas music a bit make and do!!but nice looking place and dog friendly

Visiting the area for a wedding. Fantastic location for us. Room was perfect, lots of space good bed and bathroom. Service has been great always willing to help.

the hotel was nice and clean.. quaint and cosy... staff helpful and friendly. the food at the function was very tasty and enjoyable.. not a good selection of alcohol but otherwise ok.

Decent room, bathroom and dining. Great food but slightly limited for choice of beer. A little over priced but I was last minute.

The Shrubberry was great, but be prepared for the age of the inn. The building is beautiful, the folks are lovely and nice.

Staff were very friendly, food was good and rooms were nice, if a little dated.

This is a lovely hotel, very comfortable, nothing is too much trouble and quiet but great for exploring the local area.

A most enjoyable evening of 1st class entertainment despite very restricted space and overcrowding.Insufficient parking available.Buffet was acceptable but disorganised leading to lonq queues and extended waiting time

Kitchen being refurbished and didn't tell us when we booked. Breakfast was help yourself and could have been better. Staff were friendly.

Getting better slowly rooms need to be refurbished and bar isn't open late for the residents.

Nice old building. Rooms recently refurbished. My room was modern and clean. Restaurant food was good. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. This was a 1 night business trip. Would definitely come back for either business or pleasure.

Excellent facilities for large meetings with interesting food well served.

Very pleasant and helpful staff. Good menu with generous proportions and excellent prices. Lots of indoor and outdoor areas for sitting, eating or just relaxing. Conference, meetings, weddings, Balls, Proms are all catered for. A great find just off the A303 at Ilminster.

It was fab my son got married there today lovely food all the staff was outstanding thankyou to the shrubbery
