Good food and beer, nice atmosphere and covered area for smokers.

Always a friendly welcome. Not eaten there yet but Will do very soon. Good atmosphere.

We had a pub lunch of burger and chips and cod and chips. Very well cooked. Freshly prepared and tasty. Good service too.

Really happy to give The Berwick Inn a 5-star rating. Myself and my 6yo (who has complex needs - this is relevant to the review) came in very wet from a long walk hoping for a bit of lunch before the journey home. All the staff were super welcoming - big smiles and hellos - I explained about my child which meant we needed somewhere calm and quiet to sit (they were pretty busy) - 'Sally' suggested a table in the corner but when I said I didn't think that would work she was just really positive and said would we like to have sole use of their cafe which is only opened up at breakfast time. It was a thoughtful solution that worked really well. I was impressed that the pub had a decent choice of vegetarian/vegan meals and we both enjoyed a really delicious lunch, the staff were really chilled with my child's interests - eg. moving their furniture around & organising the bins :) - and we thoroughly enjoyed our positive, calm and inclusive experience there.
(NB: We don't tend to eat out much because our experience of other places as a family has sometimes sadly been quite the opposite).

Social distancing in place, felt very safe, good choice on Sunday lunchtime menu, 4 of us opted for roast beef, 1 opted for chicken breast, all cooked and presented beautifully. Staff very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend

Me & my girlfriend had the most amazing 4 night break at the Berwick Inn!!
As soon as we arrived we were made to feel at home by the lovely staff & owners.
We were then introduced to our very modern cozy room with an extremely comfy king size bed that we never wanted to leave haha.
We had 2 delicious breakfasts & evening meals at the Inn & couldn t fault a single thing!
They even convinced us to stay for their COVID safe Octoberfest themed night, everyone was extremely professional & it was a fantastic evening!
Thank you Jack & Nat for such a great stay, we can t wait to come back soon!!

Finally made it here for dinner after two years living in Polegate. It's a nicely laid out pub directly opposite the railway station, so no excuse not to enjoy a couple of drinks with the meal.

Service was good and not overly attentive, so felt very comfortable. Good menu to choose from. Items were cooked well and nicely presented. Cod, scampi and the Camembert starter.

Everything was clean and tidy, with good evidence of additional cleaning procedures to cope with Covid 19.

Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable experience and very well recommended.

Great friendly staff lovely park for children to play in (child friendly ) high quality food. Fresh.

Very comfortable relaxed cafe attached to this pub, not often can you find a proper armchair to enjoy a coffee in. The mini shop in a cafe in a pub is very cute too.

Great place to visit amazing staff. Tastey food always a good atmosphere and they welcome dogs just love our Sunday dinner there. Thanks guys

Had a great day yesterday at the Gin Festival. Planned really well

What a disappointment. 3 months ago the menu was excellent and the food was to die for.

Yesterday the menu was sparse and more like a second rate cafeteria. The food was not top grade, the presentation of the food was diabolical to the extent that the mushroom risotto was on a slushy base which certainly wasn't rice nor potato. The fish-finger sandwich was two fish-fingers thrown on a plate with double doorstep of bread (for a lady). The clue was in sandwich!

I had particularly chosen the Berwick Inn for lunch with my family based on my previous visits.

Stop - rethink your menu - remind your chef that his interpretation of the menu needs to match up with customer's requirements.

Friendly and welcoming staff. Good beer and a lovely lunch (I recommend the beer-battered cod and chips).

Fabulous lunch today. Lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere. Food amazing. Great quality. 2 adults and 2 children. All food looked very well prepared and friendly staff. Families with babies catered for, high chairs etc. Playground at rear. Really enjoyable. Will go back. Worth giving a visit.

Popped in by chance for a breakfast , would've preferred a more wider choice of veggie options , but the welcome was warm . Will defo go again.

Got to the restuarant on a sunday afternoon, but were not taking new orders for food after 2 large groups arrived. Staff told us to order in 10 minutes time, went to order 20 minutes later still not accepting orders so had to go elsewhere

Very pretty pub oldie world food very good. A large garden and coveted patio areas. Staff very polite and friendly, worth a visit.

Nice countryside pub with a very friendly staff. You can also buy some first necessity products there such as milk. Perfect place to wait for your train as it is located right next to the station

Nice enough pub, food nice. They used to have a bouncy castle out for children but the last few times I ve visited it hasn t been out so only a few dated bits of equipment for the children to use.

Such a beautiful place! Great selection of drinks, gin is my personal favourite and there s always so much to choose from! Beautiful location, with a great outdoor area. Perfect for summer! The inside is warm and cosy. The staff are fabulous, always so welcoming, so friendly and so polite. The food is lovely, great portion sizes and always cooked perfectly. All in all it is a wonderful place to be and absolutely worth a visit!

Well, having been here quite a few times, I have seen the pub go up and down. Even when it was down, it still was not that bad. Staff were and are all very friendly. The food keeps getting better. There are quite a few changes in the pipe line, which will enhance the place even better. I ordered a meal a few weeks ago and was told it was about an hour wait. It was very busy so I understood. I sampled and sampled the local beer,so much that by the time my meal came, I had to ask for extra gravy as my for head had most of it, due to my head hitting the plate. That staff were fab and duly obliged. Very good food, I think, had to be guided to the train. Well worth a visit.

Cracking pub....good selection of ales and food. Definitely worth a visit.

Went in for sunday lunch , place was busy and staff very helpful and friendly , ordered food with a 45 minute wait , no worries , people on the table near us had their burgers arrive and said crikey that was quick but questioned part of their order as extras arrived , staff left the food and i heard the chap mention his had cheese and did one of the party have one without cheese , a few minutes later one of the staff turned up and asked if they had touched their burgers , to the reply no , they had as they all opened them to see who's had cheese on , the waitress took them away and gave them to the correct people , that's disgusting and unhygienic , our order came out within the 45 mins , we ordered roast ,what a let down , 3 dry pototes half a stuffing ball , tough stringy beef , veg steamed or microwaved to hell , wish I'd ordered a burger ,
Nobody had a clue who ordered what , the clue is the big spoon with a number on , we stopped at the chip shop on the way home , shame you have to pay up front as I'd have questioned the quality and lack of what we received and ate , not somewhere I'd go again

I have given 3 stars for Sydney the waitress. She was brilliant. Food was nice once we got it. Two hours wait for two courses isn't acceptable. Especially when two of the mains (there were 4 of us) were stone cold once they arrived. Then had to wait half hour for replacement with attitude from the 'head barmaid'. We went on a Groupon voucher and were separated from other diners and were regularly reminded of it. The whole experience was uncomfortable. Would I recommend the Berwick Inn? Not really.

Good fish and chips and hamburguer, but bad steak. The blue cheese sauce is SWEET!

Large portions and very friendly staff.

Went in on the 29th December and were seated very quickly by polite staff.

Service was a little slower as the lady said she was on her own for a bit before the others came in - not a problem.

Coffees tasty, usually just ok in pubs so was pleased with this.

4 cooked breakfasts, one vegan and we'll catered for.

Breakfasts were very large, all cooked nicely!

Toilets clean.

Would visit again.
