Berkley Net is a decent place to work when your fresh out of college and trying to gain experience to build your resume. Very nice building, most of the people are nice and good people, fun atmosphere, alot of company functions. Not too many cons except the pay is not the best and the work can be very overwhelming. Other than that its a pretty good company.

Terrible policy holder and claimant service. We haven t heard from anyone in months and I call every day. We have a fraudulent claim against us and no one will answer the phone or return emails to defend us. We are on our own to fight the ex employees ambulance chasing lawyers.

I had to utilize this place because it's the workers comp insurance that my work uses they never paid anything but my medical bills it ain't reimburse me for my prescriptions I paid for and they didn't reimburse me for my time missed from work if you can avoid working for a company that uses this place or using this place as your workers compensation insurance I would highly recommend you do so have reached out to my case worker several times to no avail it's like he just doesn't care other employees there at the company tell me that he should have reached out to me sooner and acknowledge to my messages to him but that went nowhere.

Watch out for low initial premium quotes. They will lure you in and then whack you with additional premiums. I'm not happy with Berkley Net Workers Comp billing process. I have a small business with 5 employees and a few sub-contractors. We have never had a claim.
The first year Berkley gave us a reasonable premium at first ($2,804) and then more than doubled our original fee based on our growing business. Another $2,863 for a total of $5,667 for the first year.
Okay, fair enough, we had a good year so I paid it but then the next year's renewal premium came in at $6,530 which seemed high but again, we were growing so I paid it. They had our current payroll data so they certainly should know how to calculate their fees.. I paid the $6530 in full and then got an additional bill for $3,018 at the end of the policy for a total of $9,541 for my second year with them. Remember- no claims.
3rd year premium came in at $6,236! That's lower than the previous year's total of $9,548! (I figured they were giving me a discount for having no claims but it was just the same old misleading practice of quoting low and billing high.
I called and was told they were using payroll date from 23 months ago!
Not cool. At some point you gotta know this is a misleading practice; to entice a customer with a low renewal amount and then hit them hard at the end of the policy year for multiple thousands.
They had the updated payroll figures but did not UPDATE them (on purpose it seems) in order to give a lower renewal premium.
Insummary:
1st year quote was $2804 that turned into $5667
2nd year quote was $6530 that turned into $9548
3rd year quote was $6236 and I can hardly wait for the $5,000 bill they will be sending me now. The auditor was comparing my current payroll to Berkley's numbers from 23 months ago. They refused to update our basis despite having updated figures!

Avoid BerkleyNet. Terrible experience for us. We are paying Berkley monthly for a 2018 WC audit amount. For some unknown reason a monthly payment did not process in May, even though I entered as before and received an email confirmation. Did they reach out by email ? Nope. Did they call? Nope. Too much to ask when you can do the easier thing...

Instead they sent it to a collections agency [see below], apparently before it even got to the next month's bill! Then, after I received the next invoice and paid for BOTH months after I (not Berkley) figured out what happened, and inquired with Stephanie, Underwriting Specialist, about why someone was calling me, she / no one else bothered to close the loop with the collections agency even though I am current.

Berkley just doesn't have their act together.

UPDATE: as it turns out, Berkley's "outside collection agency" (as they call it) is apparently owned by... Berkley. Talk about a conflict of interest, where once they refer it out, they also get the fees! No wonder.

The company's audit practices are questionable at best. We have experienced the same issues as other reviewers. Upon completion of the "audit" we have received invoices for thousands of dollars more than the original premium without any explanation. There is an audit dispute process that can be done but even then the company simply presents a new invoice, again without explanation. If you don't pay the "audited" premium amount, they threaten to, and will, cancel your policy. The last "auditor" that we dealt with had such a thick accent that I could not understand what he said, he didn't comprehend simple accounting concepts, and was probably located in a different country, like India. They contract out their audit work to a company called Overland Solutions which might be "overseas solutions". I do not recommend Berkley Net for any purpose.

Same problem as I see reported already . Wish I would have read the reviews. They were recommended through the policy center. I came up for an audit and turned in all required paperwork and then received a bill for over 8000.00$. I never went over my payroll premium and they said the audit revealed I spent double what was actually spent . I m in the audit dispute process now but I will be finding a new insurance company immediately!

These people are horrible to deal with. They do not value their customers. Their business practices are unethical. They are pushy and treat their clients like dirt. Don't use this company. Small business owners beware of their deceitful tactics. It was the biggest mistake we've made. I would give 0 stars if I could but it's not an option. Not happy with their service at all. I've communicated this to them but they could care less.

If I could give them no stars I would. Unfortunately I just signed up as a customer and I had to call them to check on a payment. Who ever heard of a company where when one calls, no one answers? And when I did get a hold of someone their greeting was "hello"? This person was so rude and sounded like I was imposing on them. Yet i must have received about 5 invoices from them. I hope i NEVER have to call them again or even have a claim for THAT matter. So unprofessional-I've been in the insurance industry for over 25 years and I've never ever treated an insured like that! IT IS ALL ABOUT THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE!
