We are very entertained here. The service staff was very helpful and polite. There is a good choice for breakfast, I have a latte, and there are lots of fresh fruit. It is best to choose a high-rise room with a river view.

Definitely a class way above the rest. Booked a club king room which comes with bottle of bubbly, access to the executive lounge for complimentary breakfast, as well as canapes and drinks from 5-7pm each night, with Riverside views. Soft drinks and bottled water in the room are also complimentary. Room is lovely and very spacious with great Perth views. Staff, food, and amenities are brilliant. Will post room photos later.

Weekday lunch buffet promotion (AUD30/person) was a very good deal. Not much food variety but the quality of all food were great. Save room for desserts - esp the passion fruit tart & strawberry tart.

I'm giving this hotel 5 stars and that is mainly because of the staff. We usually spend Christmas at another hotel in the city but as that was full we decided on the Duxton. We booked Christmas day in a club room with access to the club lounge , breakfast, valet parking and booked the Firewater Grille for the evening buffet. From the moment we were greeted by the concierge, the reception and other staff we knew we had made the right choice as they all had smiles and made us feel very welcome. The club rooms are older but very clean and comfortable and very spacious. We enjoyed free flowing drinks and canopies in the Club lounge overlooking the river. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely hostesses here and it was a great place to spend a couple of hours. Christmas evening buffet at the Firewater Grille was excellent and breakfast the next morning in the club lounge was a great way to start the day. After 10 years of spending Christmas at our previous hotel we are now starting a new tradition and future ones will be spent at the Duxton Perth. Thank you to all the staff for making it a special time .

Vegetarian option for our 3 course ball meal was appalling. The mains was 2 slices of eggplant, one baby zucchini, and a sprinkling of a tomato, corn and onion salsa. The portion size was insufficient, and the meal lacked protein and carbohydrates. My meat-eating friends were given a generous meal that had 2 pieces of chicken. I was eating their bread rolls to bulk out my meal. It's not enough to eat for a 3 course meal with an open bar. Most of the staff were friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was lovely but my meal was disappointing, and to be frank, with the service of alcohol it was irresponsible.

Clean rooms, friendly staff, very nice atmosphere in the hotel. Valet parking for vehicles and good food from the room service menu.

Beer in the mini-bar/room service was $10 a bottle; the television was locked so you could not connect your own device with HDMI to watch your own films, Netflix etc. Either television or hotel movies at $15 a pop.

Very nice hotel but for me, personally, I'd prefer just a basic motel where I can at least connect my laptop to the TV and drink a beer from the mini-bar after travelling.

Visited front bar pre and after dinner. Excellent service and reasonably priced drinks for this high level establishment. Did not have bar snacks but what was delivered to other patrons looked very good. Great for a relaxing drink in quality surroundings.

I was planning to stay at the Duxton hotel for the...

I was planning to stay at the Duxton hotel for the night of my mate's wedding, so I came in after work to get a quote from the lady. (I do know her name but for privacy issyues I will leave that bit of information out). She quoted me $210 for the night and I said oh really that's sounds good and booked it. She asked for credit card details but I told her I didn't have one but I was ready to pay cash there and then. She told me that I can just pay on the day. So before I left I asked again to make sure that the price was $210 for the night and nothing more. She told me, "yes and valet is included." So I thought, "sweet! The stress of getting a hotel is over so now all I have to do is wait for the big day. That big day came and I arrived just after 2pm for checking in. I was ready to pay when the man behind the desk told me it was $450. I was a bit confused as I was quoted $210. Turns out the lady didn't quote the bond price as well. I didn't have that amount on me and had I known I would have been more prepared. I told the man that was serving me that I was quoted the price mentioned and the lady was working beside him. I was stressed out as is because my mate's wedding was at 3 and I was hoping that this issue would be sorted. Yet I kept calm and told the lady that I was willing to pay the amount when I first saw her. She then lowered the whole price including bond to $350 but it was still too much for me as I have money in another account and in order for me to transfer it to my savings I would need to wait 3 days. I ask the man if I could be let off as it is a 'wedding at the Duxton' and 'I don't plan on trashing the room.' Understandably from his point of view he couldn't allow it. It was raining and I was running late for the wedding. So I had to get parking and run to the church which left me drenched. After the wedding I had to find another hotel to fit my budget. After a long 1.30hour search I found Crowne plaza which was even better. After getting ready in my hotel, while rushing to have a uwell needed shower I then made way for Duxton hotel when I was in need for a drink as I was stressed from searching for another hotel. The actual reception wasn't opened so there were pre drinks before entering. I went to the beverage table and the man asked me what beer would I like and I said any beer. Again he asked me what beer would I like and again I said, "any beer it doesn't matter." He asked me again and pointed out which beers and I said," I don't care any beer." After I said this, instead of pouring me a glass of beer that was in the jug, in his hand, he didn't finish serving me and just went to grab the other beer in the back. Maybe it was his first day and was nervous but still holy crap this sort of third rate service from a hotel. The lack of common sense from the staff is disgraceful. Although the food was terrific on the night and the staff that were inside the reception were good. I would never go there to stay, even if I won lotto. It's such a pity because the checkout area looks beautiful. Such a terrible ordeal thing and having read some reviews about the room I am glad that I didn't waste any money staying there. Warning: do not waste a penny at this place.

I stayed Friday to Sunday in room 307. Walking into the hotel for the first time, staff were courteous but some were looking at me a little odd because I was still wearing the tracksuit pants and comfy shirt I wore on my flight to Perth. I'm guessing I didn't fit into their general clientele profile wearing comfy clothes The room itself was fine. The bed and room were clean. The bathroom was OK, albeit very old. This showed even more when I went to take a shower - the water pressure was abysmal. I mentioned this to the staff at concierge, who tried to play it off as too many people showering at the same time. I wonder how many people were taking a shower at 11am on a Friday The king bedrooms have no kitchen or laundry facilities, but there are shared laundry facilities on the floor. The lighting is poor, with lamps on the bed side table being your main source of light at night - useless if your trying to get dressed to go out Baggage handlers were courteous, and a special mention to staff member Eduardo, who was the most helpful during my stay The pool was 1.2m (shallow) and maybe 20 metres x 10 metres. Double the size of a big backyard pool, but very small for a hotel. The spa was minuscule, you couldn't fit more than 2 people without touching, and fitting 4 would be a squeeze. The sandstone edge around the spa was old and showing its age, cracked and caked with white gap seal - not a good look for an upmarket hotel. I'd expect better from my local pool All in all a pleasant stay, except for the poor shower pressure and lack of proper room lighting. I was informed the rooms are currently being refurbished, so we'll see if it's been improved next year

We indulged in the Firewater Grille's buffet. At $35 midweek lunch the spread was quite lavish, cold meats including prawns and nori rolls, I was struck by the delicious desserts, portioned rightly so you could enjoy several. The hot dishes, in attractive gleaming steel and glass pans, were canaloni, pork stir fry, black bean fish, beef curry, rice pilaffe, capsicum chicken pieces, and roast vegetables. I enjoyed the chicken and fish, lovely sauces. Soup available too and salads, cheese and biscuits, fruit, choc buttons, and a delightful coffee finished our birthday lunch. Definitely recommend. Only beef was a bit dry and pork a bit tough but everything else was beautiful. The decor is lovely including a water feature and stunning lobby of marble and chandeliers. Very attentive staff.
