My husband, daughter and I visited here after a recommendation from a friend. They each got the shrimp dinner and I got a NY strip steak. My steak was huge and cooked to a perfect medium as I ordered. We enjoyed our food and will be back.
it had verity amirican food . if u looking for spicy and like Mexican food what i love it to . then saerch another place .and they dont have hot tea haha
Y'all for real- this was the best steak I have ever had in my life. My date had the crab legs and besides him spilling butter on his leg (his fault not theirs) it was nothing short of amazing. My only regret is that I wasn't alone because I would have logged out and those crab legs would have been mine! You know us ladies can't pig out in front of dates it's not lady like. But yea, please eat here. It's so worth it and not over priced
Excellent. One if the best steaks I have ever had! Seafood was great Rolls melted in your mouth. Only thing better would have been honey butter!!
I love this place. My great grandparents use to eat here, feels like home. Awesome food
Ribeye steak was good salad and mashed potatoes were ok. All in all it was not a $28 meal, $22 would have been more like it. Service was excellent though.
Smoked steak and shrimp best surf and turf in the are love the Pina coladas
The waitress was very nice with a warm smile, I loved those cheese grits that was cooked to my liking, hat's off to the manager as well as the cooks
Went to Red Barn for our anniversary. Best Rib eye ever! Mainly older crowd. A couple can expect to spend from $60 to $100. I would definitely recommend.
Good service and atmosphere but the food did not blow me away.
Restaurant was recommended by some local friends. The food was poorly seasoned, wait staff was terrible as well. Could get a better steak at any generic chain restaurant honestly. The drinks were well made and that was the only redeeming quality.
The pork chops and collard greens were cooked to perfection.
Loud, seating was very close together, service was slow, waitstaff could not answer our menu questions. Prices were too high for the overcooked steaks we got. Our salads were very small. Just a so so meal. There were too many singers at one time. It did not blend well. Even though we had reservations, our wait was too long. Perhaps. It was just an unexpected crowd the Saturday night we went.
Couldn't have had a more pleasant experience on our first visit to St. Simons! As a guest at a closed wedding rehearsal dinner for 125+ guests, the atmosphere, staff attention and service all contributed to a very upbeat, festive, well coordinated, and happy event. While the Low Country fare was delightful comfort food, especially for us visiting New Yorkers and Ohioans, the service and attentiveness of each and every staff member was exceptional. After dinner, the Tree Lounge was a perfect setting to top off a memorable dining experience. Compliments to the owners, The Paolini's. We definitely shall return ... and hope we can get in!
One of my favorite restaurants on Saint Simons Island! The food and the atmosphere are excellent!
Superb food with great service! My t-bone steak was grilled to perfection and the collard greens are to die for! Oysters were scrumptious and the Racoon after dinner drink topped it all off! The wilted salad is superb! I have been going to Benny's Red Barn since 1978.
Eaten here twice so far and the bone in ribeye is amazing. We'll be back.
Okay. This place is awesome. Big steaks cooked properly. We went in a Monday and it was quite busy (much busier than anticipated, I think) so we had to wait a little bit, but the food was really great.
Phenomenal food, service, and atmosphere!! Highly recommend Bennie's Red Barn!! Was our first time visiting but will not be our last.
Awesome!!! First, we walked in to this unbelievably gorgeous "barn". The chandeliers caught my eyes and were some of the most beautiful I've ever seen. We were greeted by the sweetest girl..I'm sorry I didn't get her name. We were seated at a quaint table with a red chckered table cloth -- real cloth with cloth napkins and a lighted candle. The gentleman who waited on us was so attentive...gave us the history of the restaurant since it was our first time there and looked after our every need. We were brought the most delicious ribeye we have ever had! Wait, let me back up to the salad with the BEST Italian dressing ever!!! My husband doesn't care for Italian dressing but upon finishing his salad asked if I thought they would give us their recipe. Then we heard a gentleman singing to a group at another table. Turns out his name is Chip and he sang for us and several more. He came and sat with us while we ate...now, normally I wouldn't like that, but with Chip it was different. We hung on his every word. He makes eating at Bennie's Red Barn feel like you are eating with family. We will be on the island for four nights and plan on going back every night. Tonight, we're going to get their famous fried chicken with sides of southern veggies and finishing off with homemade peach cobbler! Sorry for the long post, but I've never been to a restaurant worthy of a long post before.
Is a beautiful place great atmosphere. It is pricey but staff was wonderful came to the table sang a song for the kids. Also did a magic trick for them so was worth the extra money. Will come back for more.
Loved the food, the service and the atmosphere! Good band on the patio!
Great food! Just remember to call ahead for a reservation!
We were a large group served by two waiters. One was very efficient the other wasn't. The fried shrimp was so so. The atmosphere is interesting and the roving singer is an interesting twist.
Service was great and the building is super cool and interesting. It s a type of service and dining that you just can t find anywhere else. The food was all good, nothing that you couldn t find better somewhere else, but all around decent quality food. Don t expect to be blown away but you won t necessarily be disappointed. No real vegetarian options besides spaghetti however which is a bummer.
The food we had was pretty good. The desserts were the real stand out items for us though. They are amazing. The pecan pie is the best I have had hands down. It has become a favorite spot for us.
It was a good experience. The atmosphere was nice. The waiter we had was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. Our food was hot when it came out and the waiter made sure our drinks stayed filled. I had a great time. I will be returning in the near future.
Steaks are good. Side dishes interesting. Service good although slow when we were there. Over priced for what it is but with no competition locally good luck to them.
Been going to Benny's since I was a kid awesome as usual
Best steaks around! Awesome servers. Try the raccoon!
This place is definitely worth a visit when on St Simon's Island.
Our food was not good ... my "medium" steak was almost rare, my friends blackened tuna was not blackened and was very fishy ... service was mediocre at best ... very disappointing
Deborah is an excellent waitress! Very knowledgeable of the menu and extremely helpful! The Lamb chops were amazing! My wife got the filet and it was very good as well. Very good appetizers and very reasonable pricing. Don't forget to ask for Deborah! Did I mention she was amazing?
Such a romantic/date ideal place. My husband and I enjoy going each visit. It's beautiful and they also have a specific room for karaoke, dancing, and great live bands. All the staff are super friendly and work fast just to make sure you're having a good time and everything's fine. I would have to say though it would be great if they had more decorations inside the barn. But everything else is perfect!! Love the super friendly staff!
A 2 star because our waitress and hostess were very nice. We looked forward to eating there as we haven t been in quite a while. Yuk! $40 for two of yuk. The mystery meat in the fried steak &gravy remains a mystery. The hamburger ball with onions was rank... maybe bad, the fish chunks cold, and all the canned vegetables were tasteless. The chicken toes (not big enough for fingers) tasty, cold. The carving station was out of prime rib so brisket was sparsely offered. #1 item was the sweet potato pie, brought in I m sure, but good. What a terrible experience when hoping for decent.
Found this place by chance on an impromptu weekend getaway to the island. My better half didn't want to go based on exterior appearance. She still talks about how awesome the place was.
Servers and entertainers were exceptional. When an entertainer sat down to show a magic trick, the man was very polite and intriguing. However the management dismissed him like a monkey. The management was incredibly rude about the procedure. The management treated him like garbage and the service was ok. The food was mediocre and was edible, I do not recommend coming here as they seem to have a lack of respect for their dilligent and hard working staff. The food was mediocre and I would not recommend this establishment to a friend.
Service has been questionable at times and the hosts have been unfriendly on the occasional visit but the food will never disappoint. I've tried different steaks (ribeye, filet, cowboy), fried chicken, and the seafood. All excellently prepared. Side Note: The interior of the building seems to want to come apart at the hinges at times so be advised, this place could equally be known for it's display of cobwebs and leaking roofs spots.
We have visited twice. The first time, my wife and I both ordered steaks and this time we ordered seafood. The food is good here, especially the steaks, but very pricey in my opinion for what you get. The atmosphere and the service is what makes the place special.
Was there on a Thursday night. Awesome time. Great entertainment.
Very disappointing! We went by the high reviews! Wanted an amazing steak! It was okay, I got the filet and it was not the best steak I have ever had, like many people say on here! Service was horrible! It was hot in there and dark! For the money that they charge to someone else! So many other places to go to on the island!
It's a cute location and easy to find. The hostess was very friendly with her welcoming. The waiter Dylan smelled like cigarettes when he came to greet us and get our drinks and mine came back with a large black floater which i had to show to the other helper before he would get me another one. The salad was wilted and looked like it has sat out for quite some time. I ordered the fried chicken and the breast was over cooked and breaking open however the other 3 pieces were under cooked because when I picked them up to put in the to go container there was pink blood under them. The bathrooms were new and nice except for all of the carpenter ants, some dead some not, all over the floor.
I will give this place a second chance to determine if it was just a bad night or the norm for them.
Food was fast coming out and my friends salmon was very good.
Hostess was very friendly. Our waiter was also very friendly and helpful. The food was good. The cheesecake is delicious!
Steak is awesome! Love the building! Service was excellent!
This was my first time eating here, found the restaurant by accident as it is not "in town". Really good, I had surf and turf (steak and shrimp) plus pecan pie for dessert. Highly recommend you eat here, dessert alone would be enough reason for me to go back.
The steaks are excellent and the prices are reasonable.
The service was great and the steak I ordered was cooked perfectly. I love the flavor that the oak wood grill adds to.the meat. My absolute favorite place to eat on St. Simon's Island.
We were part of a party of 12. The food was excellent as was the service. I would definitely recommend it.
The steak was cooked to perfection, but what impressed me the most was the amount of time and attention to detail the manager showed to one in our party who had food allergies and making sure she was well taken care of. You could tell he really wanted to make sure she was ok and he even brought out the spice ingredients for her to verify it was ok.
Grade B broken chicken used for fried chicken special, salad is all iceberg lettuce, and peach cobbler served in small bowl with minimal cobbler pieces
My wife and I use to go once a month but, the last two times the food was horrible. I always got the cowboy last two times steak didn't have any flavor green beans were under cooked.. lost two old customers
Loved the waiter waking around singing at tables. A truly unique experience. Good food, great atmosphere.
Love this place. Go on the weekends and hopefully you will be lucky enough for Calvin to sing to you! #awesome
OMGoodness! The Sunday buffet is spectacular! Epitome of southern/soul food!! YUMMMM!
Huddle house has a better steak. Service was terrible. Over priced for the food waitress acted LIKE she was the best couldnt even keep the drinks filled.
Excellent steaks and seafood, and the atmosphere is unbeatable. Great for large parties.
