Defence Equipment Manufacturing
BEML has been at the forefront of defence equipment manufacturing for over five decades. The company produces a wide range of products including Tatra trucks, armoured recovery vehicles (ARVs), bridge laying tanks (BLTs), mine ploughs, amphibious vehicles and other specialised vehicles for use by the Indian Army.
In addition to these products, BEML also manufactures components such as engines and transmissions that are used by other manufacturers of defence equipment. The company has also collaborated with international companies such as Lockheed Martin to manufacture high-tech aerospace components.
Mining & Construction Machinery
BEML's mining & construction division produces a wide range of heavy-duty machines used in various industries such as coal mines, iron ore mines etc., including excavators , bulldozers , dump trucks , loaders , motor graders etc., which are designed to operate under extreme conditions.
The company's products have been widely used by various government agencies like Coal India Ltd., Hindustan Zinc Ltd., National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd., Uranium Corporation of India Ltd., Steel Authority Of India Ltd etc.. In addition to this domestic market presence it also exports its products globally.
Rail Coaches Manufacturing
In 2018-19 financial year BEML entered into Railways business segment with an order from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for supply of 378 metro cars worth Rs 3018 crore ($424 million). Since then it has supplied more than 1000 metro cars till date across different cities like Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation(BMRCL), Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation(JMRC), Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority(MMRDA) etc..
Apart from this it also manufactures EMUs(Electric Multiple Units) which are used extensively on suburban railway networks across different cities like Chennai Suburban Railway Network(CSRN), Kolkata Suburban Railway Network(KSRN).
