Good food and vibes really enjoyed the menu! The waitstaff was great as well.

UPDATE: second time around

What s a review if you ve only had one experience?

I decided to come back to the beat brew hall for a meal and a football game as I enjoy the buffalo cauliflower here.

Today I ordered the chicken verde tacos to go along with my appetizer. Let s just say nothing is perfect and there must be a flaw somewhere.

These tacos missed the mark by a mile. I am a HUGE taco fan and this just didn t cut it. It looked good when they bought it out however the taco was so moist the corn shell fell apart. Had they used 2 shells like a traditional Mexican taco it may have held better.

They got the burger order wrong that my friend ordered well done that came out medium. No big deal but we also asked for no Chile sauce due to IBS and it came back or cooked perfect but there was still Chile sauce on the burger

It s not how you fall it s how you bounce back right? Well our server Sarah was very professional and hospitable. Comping the meal and offering a free appetizer.

Job well done! Atmosphere gets a sever gets a food needs work but I m sure the beer selection makes up for it! Gots to stop by and try them out!

The food is good and the drinks are great, but I have -never- been in a place where the music was so loud. It was so astonishingly loud I assumed it was a mistake on someone's part, and surely it would be turned down soon (after more than an hour, it wasn't) (in fact, it got even louder shortly after that). One of the songs was so ear-piercingly loud that when it reached its loudest point multiple people within our area (all at different tables) recoiled at the noise and proceeded to look at each other across the space in horror.

The waitstaff arguably couldn't have cared less, with one completely ignoring my question as to why it was loud by walking away from me, and the other (our waitress) telling me that "....oh...yeah, well-- since Saturdays are slow nights, we usually have a band." which honestly might be the most confusing reply she could have given me. I assume it was so loud she couldn't hear what I asked her, and instead took my motioning towards the speaker as some type of miming about how good the nonexistent band was.

Do you enjoy music that is a cross between 70's disco and 2000's worst electronic music? Great. Do you love to listen to it at a level that would not only wake the dead, it might actually put them back in the ground after? Boy, have I got the place for you.

It wasn't a good use of the $170 we spent that night.

The beer and food is fantastic, as well as the mix drinks. However, I don't care for the patio benches for seating, the lack of back support, and wooden benches made it really uncomfortable to sit there for a while. The food is absolutely delicious. But unnecessarily priced, I know it's Harvard square but, every entree was $18-28 dollars... That seemed to excessive for a low key beer hall.

My husband and I go here every chance we get. Live music most night, incredible drink menu, wine on tap, fantastic ambiance, and that buffalo cauliflower! Great vegetarian options, and meat options.

Super cool, mostly yummy, great atmosphere, but it was a little warm. Granted, it was one of the hottest days of summer, but still, was the AC broken? The band was fabulous, the drinks were INCREDIBLE. I sucked down like 4 of the "Something Natural" drinks which were fantastic. Shrimp tacos were ok, the rice and beans were a bit dry tho. Buffalo cauliflower was great.

Food wasn't bad, but massively overpriced. Beer selection was meager for a place calling itself a "Brew hall". Might impress some Harvard freshmen but don't expect much. Overall it's a solid place to eat but there's much better within walking distance.

Servers are often inexperienced and fumbling with a ridiculous point-of-sales system on a tablet at your table. The third time you've repeated a segment of your order and watched them spend 30 seconds tapping through menus it starts to get really old.

They also host an obnoxious trivia host on Monday nights. Hope you weren't planning on an intimate dinner that night because this dude turns his mic up for the whole dining room to enjoy his jokes and sarcasm.

Really didn't mean to burn this place down in the review. It's a good experience overall. But there are some pain points it needs to work through for a 4 star rating.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely dinner there on a weeknight. Above and beyond friendly waitstaff (almost too friendly, but I won't complain). If you want to go out to a fancy dinner, but had a vegetarian in tow, this is a great place to go. They have several option for vegetarian entrees that are amazing! And they make the perfect martini :)

Great place with good food. Had a party of about 25 of us in there for brunch and they were pretty accommodating. We didn t have enough seating for us all to be together, which was a little frustrating but I ll keep it a 5 star because they were pretty good about taking care of our moving around, ordering lots of drinks, and food requests. For a reasonable size group it would be awesome.

The food was very average nothing I would go back to along with the fact that it was way over priced for the amount of food that you get. Has large drink menu but lacked typical beers and red ales. Would not recommend and was a waste of money.

I knew it was going to be good, as their sister location Beehive in the South End has been a favorite since they opened. But I didn't expect that a random light lunch on a Saturday would turn into one of the best meals of the month. Each dish our party of four hungry guys ordered was best-in-class. The gazpacho - rich and dense with a bright tart finish, like summer in a bowl. The ceviche, probably one of the best I've had in the United States, we wanted to order another round. And the hummus, so complex with bright pops of Mediterranean olives. Can't wait for a return visit.

Do not recommend for brunch. The menu is so-so and food was not great. Some if the portions are very small for the price you are paying. Service also was bad, took forever to get orders, drinks and the check. I ve heard dinner is good here but did not enjoy brunch.

Intricate and detailed draft beer list with draft wine too. The dinner was really good but a bit on the pricier side for what you get. Relaxed atmosphere and usually live music throughout the week. Would go again.

Visited recently because we were hoping to experience some live music and it was great. There's a bar, self-seating area, and another seating area that the host/ess will guide you to. The food was good. The bathroom is surprisingly dark, with art scattered around.

We came around 3 and they had a very restricted menu because they were switching to their evening menu and even ran out of 2 items on that menu. Food and service was good. Very overpriced for portion sizes. I ordered a burger medium well and it was pink/red all the way through, so just be aware of that if you get the burger. But it was very tasty and flavorful.

Eclectic place often featuring live music. Nice big bar, great and friendly staff. And of course, incredible cocktails and solid beer selection. Excellent food as well, I've done dinner here a few times.

I don't normally write reviews, but this place almost requires it. I have gone to this place twice. Both times I have had the same bartender in the back. The first time, we had a great time, it is actually a pretty fun place to hangout. I was hanging out with friends and I order a beer on draft. I wait and never get the beer so I flag down Mr. Bartender and inform him I never got my beer. No problem. I close my tab and I end up getting charged for two of those beers even though I only had one. Still not really a problem, people make mistakes and life goes on.

A couple months later, I go there with my girlfriend and we go to get some drinks. I get a draft beer and it comes back tasting kinda off and was a pretty warm but whatever its a tasty beer regardless. During my time at the bar top, I see Mr. Bartender fill a beer glass with half Jack's Abby and half Miller Lite. Now, someone might have ordered that, but I have a sneaking suspicion that ain't the case. Very strange but I do not pay much mind to it. My girlfriend orders another drink and receives it. Mr. Bartender asks a little later whether she wanted X or Y beer, she says she wanted X and Mr. Bartender says okay and walks away. My girlfriend starts taking sips and it is definitely not X beer and Mr. Bartender definitely knew it when he asked. It was only after she complained that he remedied this issue. Pretty bad service but not enough to warrant me spending time to write this post. It was only after checking my credit card account that I see that Mr. Bartender rang up the wrong amount and then refunded it and then charged me the correct amount. Can you at least let me know you messed up? I really do not have a problem with it, just let me know. Overall, a great place to hangout, but stick to the front bar.

Really nice place to go. Little expensive for any old night of the week but great for a special occasion. Good food, great drinks, good service. Can get a little busy but get there early and you're in for a treat.

We had an amazing dinner here-from the atmosphere, the food, the service, and the live music. We had made reservations and although they were a little behind (5-10 minutes or so, no biggie), they promptly texted us and led us to a front-row seat to the live music. Our server was great-on top of it the entire dinner, even though it seemed like there were only a few servers out there handling a ton of tables. Kudos. Drinks came quick despite the huge crowds in there on a Friday night. Dinner was delicious (shrimp tacos and steak frites, cooked perfectly), and dessert was a perfect ending. The live music started at 10, and happened to be some fun jazz. Will definitely be going here again next time we're in Cambridge.

Great ambience at dinner on a Friday night pre-theater, with some good music, great food, and incredibly attentive service that helped make this experience perfect. I don't know if I'm an authority on what a brasserie is supposed to be but it was exactly how I'd want it.

Went last Sat. night. Service from our waitress was excellant. The issue was dancing. This is a club with a live band serving alcahol and nowhere is it disclosed that no dancing is allowed. No signs are posted, it isn't posted on the menu, not even on the frequently asked questions section of the web site. When we got up to dance a little near the end of the set a "bouncer came over yelling at us No Dancing! No Dancing! He was unprofessional and agresive. He acted like we should have known their was no dancing and was really upset. We were two couples that had just spent $500 and were treated very unprofessionally and agresively for doing something that we would have absolutely no reason to expect we couldn't do. If they want to keep charging these prices and don't want to disclose it up front from fear of losing business than at least train your bouncers to be a little more professional and understanding that in a tourist area folks from out of town might not be aware of quirky local laws. I did reach out to management first last Sun. and gave them a chance to respond prior to posting but they chose not to bother.

Good beer selection, didn't mind that they were blasting Beatles music all day. Could use more games to go along with the beer hall feel and shuffle board table needs leveling. Still a stand up spot though.

This place hosted one of the best gigs I've ever been to. They snagged a salsa band to play live, and they ended up going something like 2 hours later than expected because there was so much energy in the crowd. The floor was good for dancing. The vibe was really awesome, a lot of dancing & smiles & laughs, and the drinks were great too. A bunch of friends & I got some food and the waitress was really nice & accommodating, too. All around a 10/10 experience.

Definitely one of the best events I've ever gone to, hoping to go back to the place soon.

Reasonably affordable brasserie in the square, lots of atmosphere. Good vegan options, including a variety of tasty bowls (to which you can also add a protein. Live music on some evenings is a nice touch.

DON'T HOST AN EVENT HERE!!! I hosted an event her for my Fiance's birthday. They are very deceptive in their pricing, to the point that I'm considering legal action. The space was way too small for the party size. The service was mediocre the food was ok. Don't get fooled like I did. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Let's start by saying we came here because of the relationship with the Beehive. Beehive is amazing, but there was nothing available for Thanksgiving so we opted to try Beat. A mistake we will not make again! The food was awful and the service was worse! The thought was that the food was cooked elsewhere and reheated in a microwave before it was served. Nothing about the meal tasted of home! HIGHLY overpriced. An experience not to be repeated.

Great ambience, friendly staff, music is not too loud. Only negative is food is waaay too expensive for the amount. A "shareable large" portion is just enough for one person and is $25+.

This was a really poor dining experience. The food was sent out incorrectly more than once causing our entire party to eat at different times (the last plate coming out after everyone else had finished eating). The food was soooo salty and so overpriced for what it is. One child couldn't eat their food at all. The only highlight was our server who was trying hard to deal with what would appear to be a failing kitchen.

Good food/craft beer selection but overpriced for the longer than adequate wait time. We were seated and waited 15 minutes for a server that didn't show. We took our menus to the bar and had better service there.

Came for dinner and to watch a friend sing here. Loved the vibe of this place. Kinda sucked that they wouldn t seat you until the entire party arrived because we all know that one person who is always late. As a hostess myself I d think you d want to hurry up and get people sat so you could turn the table faster but whatever. However the food and dessert was unique and yummy and the show was amazing!

My husband and I went to the Beat Brasserie on Saturday night to have dinner and hear music. Both were great. We're pescatarians (eat vegetarian food and some fish) and had some delicious dishes including a salsd that had 2 different colors of watermelon, mint and feta cheese.
I'd highly recommend the Beat Brasserie! It's a very relaxed atmosphere and quality experience!

Drinks were cool and truffle fries came out hot & fresh. The vibe was good, we were there to see our friends Woo Factor play. As usual they were great, can't wait til the drop a CD. Hope to see them there again!

Great food and a great vibe. A large selection of wine on tap. We got the Bison bolognese, Azteca bowel and the ribs and they were all good. But the star was the Buffalo cauliflower. The Collins cocktail was also a pleasant surprise. Did not think kombucha would be good in a cocktail but would order it again.

Great atmosphere with good live music. The service was excellent. A modest variety of drinks and limited food options. Some items on this limited menu were not available on a Saturday night, which is weird.

I have been here a few times both for dinner (their seafood plates are really good) and for brunch (lovely too).
Really nice live music and the place is huge so you can find a spot preatty easily.

One of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had.

-Overpriced menu
-Clearly lacking good management and leadership
-Staff (the few they have) don't listen to you. Instead, they answer questions you haven't even asked. If you ask again, they give you attitude.

entitled/pretentious and clearly not laid back atmosphere. If you enjoy being ignored and talked to like you aren't worth their time, this is your place. Iguess this is what being "swiped left" must feel like in real time.

Never again.
