Went here to buy a bike mound for me and my boyfriends bikes, it worked well, pretty expensive but worth the money because it actually works for our mountain bikes,the employee,( i dam sure hope he wasnt the manager) said these were the best, so I decided to go with it, now as far as customer service, these people are terrible, no greeting the customer, the same employee who told us what bike mound to get saw us come in and didnt say a word to us, my boyfriend is the laid back one, im more of the hands on one, and he was even really annoyed that no one was coming over to offer any help, they were not busy either maybe four people including us in the store, no one said be right with you,I was literaly a second from just walking out because why should I give you a good sale, (over 100 bucks), and you cant even phathom to open up your mouth and speak to a customer who is giving you buisness, anyway long story short wouldnt come here again and would not recommend anyone else to come here unless you dont mind being completly ignored when you walk in the store like your not worth coming up to, so rude!

great staff, & best service, & most times if you bring your bike in for almost anything they may fix or do right there on the spot .. love this place & my family has shopped when they were in harbor village square & that is way way back, i don't even remember what year that was ??

I have always had a positive experience at Beacon....

I have always had a positive experience at Beacon. When I first moved to the area they helped me with my bicycle that had a problem with frequent flats. They also provided quality service on my mountain bike. (Neither of these bikes were purchased from Beacon.) Recently I purchased a Trek e-bike from Beacon. I am very happy with it and with the help and advice I was given. They provide quality service at a fair price, and they know what they are doing. They sell good quality stuff and I would recommend them for e-bikes because they are qualified to service what they sell. (Who knew that a bicycle could need a firmware update.) My experience with Beacon has been 100% positive.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. Now my husband and I, along with our 2 kids have new trek bikes that we have enjoyed all summer! Very happy with our purchases and we will definitely buy from again when our kids are ready to size up their bikes.

Purchased my first bike at Beacon 17 years ago and she still rides great! I have passed her down to my son and now I purchase a brand new Electra townie that I absolutely love! Jim was very helpful with answering the many questions I had. Everyone there was friendly and service was fast!

Called this place to try and make an appointment t...

Called this place to try and make an appointment to get a new chain on my bike and just have them check it over for me. They said I'd have to leave my bike with them for a WEEK for this simple task! This was the amount of time they'd need when I was scheduling an appointment...not just walking in (which is no excuse for a week). Their service might be great...if you can get it. Anyone else have to leave their bike with a shop this long for a simple repair? Needless to say I'll be going somewhere that doesn't need a week to do a 20 minute job.

My wife and I bought bikes several years ago. We get yearly tune ups and the service techs always advise us of any concerns. So honest and reliable. We are seniors and enjoy riding on the Ocean City Boardwalk. I m returning to Beacon today for our yearly tune up. Usually do so in the spring, but getting the urge to ride again. They are very knowledgeable and sold us great bikes! Highly recommend!

recently purchased a new bike for my daughter as a Christmas present. I was overwhelmed by the bicycles, accessories, styles and types of bikes available in todays market. The people at Beacon could not have been more helpful. They absolutely know a lot of what is important when buying a bike. They were able to customize and accessorize a base model bike and make a real showpiece. I was really impressed with the quality, look and function I could get for the price. I can only say if you are interested in buying a bike Beacon definitely is the first and only place you need to go. The selection, price range and expertise is excellent

Many locals will agree when I say this, Beacon is one of those places where they only want to cater to the wealthy. Only high marked retail items in that oversized showroom, and if you try bringing in a "NON Beacon" bicycle for service, they treat you like a darn nuisance. Beacon is one of maybe 2 bicycle service shops in Atlantic County., that's it! But us bluecollar folk can't go there, nope. Well I say move your business elsewhere. Make room for a bicycle store that will better serve this area!! We actually need/use our bikes, they aren't just some showpiece to be paraded on top of the car on a $1200 roof mount or $400 trunk rack, come on now.

Best products. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Convenient location and hours. I have purchased/serviced all of my bikes, accessories and gear at the Northfield, NJ Beacon since 1990. Even though I could order some things on Amazon, I prefer to go to the store so that I can get advice from the service staff. Keep up the great work!

I brought two bikes in to be repaired and adjusted. Scott assisted me and was friendly and helpful. I was impressed with how professional and knowledgeable he is. Scott noted and corrected some safety concerns as well. He went the extra mile to assist me and I truly appreciated it. The repairs were completed quickly and at a very reasonable price. I am so grateful to have this local service. My husband and son need new bikes and we will be in soon to buy! Thank you!!

I've been going to Beacon for about 6 years now. Cody, Mitch and everyone there are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about everything bike! I purchased my first road bike there as well as my Mountain bike and I couldn't be happier. The entire process was very informative and the price was reasonable. The store is clean and well stocked with all the latest gear. I highly recommend Beacon to all my family and friends.

Beacon was able to order an Electra Cruiser 1 and ...

Beacon was able to order an Electra Cruiser 1 and have it delivered when bicycle shops closer to me, near Mt. Laurel, couldn't. My family purchased bikes from Beacon when I was a kid, now I'm purchasing from them again as an adult. Andy S. was helpful with the order, and Susanna R. made sure bike was adjusted correctly when I picked it up. The bike is great!

This is by far the best bike shop around. The staff is courteous and professional, and the service is by far the best around. I've been a customer for over five years now and I cannot say enough about this shop. They have a great selection of bicycles and equipment. The staff is comprised of people who do a lot of riding, so you know the advice you get is backed by a lot of experience. Finally, I will say that their bike fitting service is amazing. I did it a couple of years ago and can honestly say it was one of the best things I have ever done to improve my cycling. I love this shop!

I brought my bike in for help with assembly and the staff there was very ready to help. They were all very friendly and told me when the bike would be ready. They then called to tell me that there was an issue and that it would take one day for a new part to come in then told me the price for the part. They also fixed a dent in my frame without damaging anything and called, texted, and emailed me when my bike was ready. The prices weren t too unbearable for what I got and I noticed the clothes and helmets in-store were all fairly priced to the quality they came in. Overall an amazing experience with beacon cycling.

I went there Sunday the 21st to get a bike rack. I also purchased a high pressure pump and a tube. The guy was very knowledgeable and was a big help. He even showed me how to put the rack on. Mind you it was 103 degrees. You have a new customer thank you.

I what to thank Scott for his help selecting and fitting my son for a new bike. My son has autism, he rides and competes with Sea Isle Islanders Special Olympics team, it can be hard for him to cooperate, Scott put him at ease which made the process very easy. Also thanks for the tech who took the time to change out his peddles when we picked the bike up. My son is looking forward to logging many miles. Thanks again!

Last weekend I brought my bike into Beacon because of a problem with my front derailleur. Scott W not only took care of that problem, but also straightened out some other issues with the rear shifter. I've ridden the last two days and the bike is riding better than it did when it was new! Also, when I went to put my bike on my bike rack, he showed me how to properly adjust it as well. Scott , I can't thank you enough for going above and beyond. You have earned a loyal customer.

So here's the story, I had came to Ocean City for ...

So here's the story, I had came to Ocean City for vacation before Memorial weekend. I brought all my cycling equipment; shoes, road bike, nutrition stuff, tools, spare parts etc and the one major thing I forget is my training clothes. I felt so dumb when I found out. So I went looking online for a bicycle shop near by and one of the few I found near by was Beacon Cycling & Fitness. I read the previous review about them annnnd... it didn't make a lot of sense.

Anyway, I took a chance and visited the shop later on this same day. I've never been to this bicycle shop and the first thing I notice is that I was greeted as I walked through the door, that's a rare thing I get to experience and a great thing at that. I was looking through the clothing section and a store employee walks up to me after I was shuffling through some choice jersey's and asks "Can I help you with anything?" Well sure enough, I needed the help, we talked a little and we came to the conclusion that they didn't have my particular size in a certain brand. I wasn't too burnt up about it but I found something else that could work; I was pleased.

I decided to look around and ask some questions, I encountered the same store employee. This time I threw in a slue of random questions. The guy knew what he was saying and even thought me a thing about electric bicycle hub wattage limitations in terms of Federal Legalities. Hey you learn something new everyday, right? RIGHT!? SO, I checked out, got what I came for... well, almost.

The caring support, professionalism and help was all there, when ever I come back to Ocean City, I hope you guys know that I'll defiantly be coming back to shop with you again; cause you guys know what your talking about and I saw it personally. :D

Excellent customer service! Today I took my bike to Beacon for a Spring tune up. I was greeted at the door with a friendly smile & taken right over to the service department. Scott did a super job!!! My bike looks & rides like new. He also noticed that I live about 45 minutes away so he offered to do the job while I ran errands nearby. I'm thankful that he saved me a trip back up next week.

Bought a bike there a few weeks ago, it was a great experience. Cody was awesome, no pressure. He was honest and very knowledgeable. I ended up buying an Electra, and I love it.

The only thing that was strange is I got an email a couple of weeks later to bring the bike in for a free tune up. I rode it about 2 miles in 2 weeks, so I didn't need a tune up yet. How about you send those emails out 6 months or even a year later. That would be awesome.

Having said all that, we are planning on coming in today to buy another bike for my wife.

On vacation in OC NJ Sept 24, 2016 and broke my front fork on my road bike. Took my bike to Beacon and Marco fixed it straight away and had me back on the road in less than an hour. He also adjusted my bike and fixed a few other minor issues. My bike is now running perfect. Fork even matches my bike. I am SOO thankful - please pass my thanks along to Marco!!! He is amazing!!

If you're just getting into cycling or it's not your 1st passion or you just simply don't know everything and also don't have enough money for the perfect bike that's as lightweight as a bird with hollow bones, I would suggest a smaller more friendly and intimate shop that will help you build your knowledge without pretentious responses and snickering at your questions. The joy of riding a bicycle has been lost among the elitists...

Beacon is a nice local bike store for purchasing parts, tools accessories, etc. in a pinch. They also carry a nice selection of bikes, though I have never purchased on from them. I rate them 3 stars due to their sub-par service department (post Marco, who was the best). I recently spent over $350 dollars servicing a $3,000 bike. That's 10% of the bike's MSRP! I was very disappointed with the results. First, I am fairly certain that some of the parts (and therefore service) were not necessary. It felt more like a car dealership service experience, which I didn't anticipate in bike store. Second, I have doubts that the work was performed properly, or at all. My chain was replaced, though I do not believe it had reached its wear tolerance (I have a tool for this and last I check it was fine). A new chain is always nice so I didn't argue, and I knew I was getting close anyway. However, when I got the bike back and took it out riding I experienced sticking and slipping in my gear shift ( never a problem before). When I returned to the service department I was treated poorly and shuffled out of the store, rather than being treated with concern. I was told to adjust the nob at the shift triggers on handle bar. I was informed that controlled the speed at which the gears shift up and down the cassette. I later learned that this controls "indexing" which is the alignment of the chain over the range in the cassette. I'd expect the mechanic to know this. I had to completely re-tune the rear derailleur (thank you Park Tools for your videos). It now works perfectly, but it did cost me at least one hour of my time - not cool. While performing the work I notice that my gear shift cable was the same one that was on when I brought the bike in for service. I'm not sure, but it seems like that is something you'd replace in a "tune-up." Lastly, within just a few hours of riding, maybe six, my rear hydraulic disc break has become spongy and does not effectively stop the bike - kind of important for mountain biking! This is also a new phenomenon and one that should not be expected after paying a professional to replace disc pads and perform a line bleed. This in now one more repair that I need to investigate and fix subsequent to "servicing" performed by Beacon. I strongly advise against using Beacon servicing - don't waste your money. Do it yourself if you can, or find Marco if he is still out there servicing bikes.

I ordered a bike for my daughter two months ago and was told it would be ready to be delivered in two weeks. Paid in full. The first time I called to follow up I was told in a dismissive manner that they would call me when it was ready. When I followed up again a week later I was told that they would call me back. I then received a call from the owner telling me that the bike I had paid for was inadvertently sold to another customer and that they could order another bike for us but that it would take another month. Having no other options I said okay. Today I called to follow up since I was supposed to have the bike last week and I was told the bike was on back order and they meant to call me to let me know but that the bike wouldn t be available until October. At that point I just took a full refund. Needless to say I won t be attempting to buy from this store again.

Beacon is a great bike shop! The owners have been actively involved with the cycling community for at least the 34 years since I first started seriously riding. Mitch guided me through my first group ride and he and his wife, Susanna, and I still trade turns to this day. The chief mechanic, Marko, is the best mechanic in the area, period. He is always up his eyeballs in the shop, but he tries his best to make time to answer most silly questions. Cody is a knowledgeable rider, bike fitter, sales person, and all-around cool guy who will hound dog any inquiry. All of the sales staff are good people. I have been to shops that tried to sell me wrong size bikes, shops that wouldn't service my bike because I didn't buy it from them, and shops with incompetent mechanics. You will not have an experience like this at Beacon.

Brought it in my kids cannondale catalyst 4 2017 f...

Brought it in my kids cannondale catalyst 4 2017 for repair with a bent hanger for the rear derailleur hanger, the bike has only 80-100 miles on it, that said, i know for a fact that chains last for 1,000 km s at the least! Now i got a call today saying that my chain was already worn out and so is the rings and needed to be changed, so i asked if the chain and the rings are gonna get cleaned up, they say they just gonna wipe it off, ah, i do that every week with my kids bike chain, so i was asking, what did i pay for a $80.00 tune up then? The guy named Mitch said to adjust the brakes, clean the brakes and that s about it! I adjust my bikes brakes and cleans my chains like that, and he goes on to say i cleaned the brakes alone for 30 minutes he says, so i said, are you saying there s a time limit for you to work on my bike, and he suddenly goes, i don t know what your saying ........Then i said, if i come get my bike now, how much is it for cleaning the brakes, and he said $50.00, i was flabbergasted....... horrified.... so i just said, just go on then, i wasted my money already..... lesson learned, go to a trustworthy place to have your bikes fixed!!!! I

I ll update this post when i get my kids bike back!!!!

Mitch and the staff at Beacon are incredible. I purchased my bike from there and was amazed at the huge selection they have on site. I take it in for regular servicing which they are always thorough with. This time I wiped out and needed some quick turnaround which they were able to accommodate. I highly recommend them for both Sales & Service!

I ordered a bike off Amazon to be put together here and got no information as to when the bike would be put together. I called and was told it would be ready Saturday 6/13/2020. Saturday I called and they couldn't find my bike so I was suppose to get a call back. Few hours later I had to call again to see what was going on and ended up speaking to someone on the phone who was rude and said we're busy and it doesn't help when people call cause they can't work on bikes.

Beacon is a first class bike shop. Scott was superb in helping us find the right bikes. He has a great knowledge of the products. The next day when we returned to pick up the bikes everyone was so helpful and kind. The gentleman who put together one of the bikes on the spot was terrific and even helped us mount the bikes on the rack.
