I asked for a quote for a property transfer. They gave me a rough estimate and asked me to fill in detailed information about the purchase so that they can give me an accurate estimate. They said they will look at the form and get back to me with an accurate quote and book a date for me. They also said that if I want to move forward, I can ask my realtor and mortgage broker to send documents to them. I filled out the form 25 days ago and did not hear back from them until today they said they ALREADY STARTED MY CASE and asked me to CLARIFY why my mortgage broker told them that I'm working with another firm.

I had talked to another lawyer about the BC spec tax. He basically said that we had to pay it. The Papercliplaw folks told me, well you might have to pay, BUT you get a tax credit for earnings that are made and taxed in BC that can offset it. Extremely helpful!
So far, my impressions are great. I've been exchanging with staff at Paperclip Law since last fall about my will, and I finally managed to get a Zoom call and chat with Jen today. Super understanding, accommodating. The workbook they sent around with initial questions was super clear, transparent and very easy to fill out and follow. The whole process makes me feel more at ease, along with the COVID-19 related accommodations they're making to facilitate signatures. Paperclip law is not transparent about there fees. There charged us an extra $500 to pay off our credit cards on our behalf. When asked why these extra fees were not simply mentioned to us they were very defensive and rude.
