Way overpriced for what you get. The food is terrible and so are the drinks. The beach area is very small and there aren't nearly enough free activities to justify the price. The snorkel boat staff are great people, and so is the bartender at the paradise beach bar.

We just got back from a weeks stay at Beaches in O...

We just got back from a weeks stay at Beaches in Ocho Rios. What a great time. This was our second stay at a Sandals resort. We stayed at Sandals in Ocho Rios in 2017. So here is the review.
This place is family oriented from the get go. It is set up to cater to all your needs.

The Room: The room was a King room. It had a King bed, a twin sized couch that had a trundle under it, and a smaller couch that pulled out to a twin bed. The staff had also placed a small twin bed in the room. So in all, we had 2 Adults and 2 teens and 1 tween in the room comfortably. The bathroom was large and easily accommodated all of us. The fridge in the room was stocked with water and soft drinks. If we needed anything, just dialing 0 got it there in a hurry.

The Food: The restaurants on the resort are exceptional. There is food for everyone. During the day, the kids could grab hamburgers, pizza, jerk chicken, etc. They loved getting crepes. There are soft drinks and milkshakes everywhere. Also ice cream! At night, we would shower and get into resort wear, (Shorts, shoes, and nice shirts) and go to some really nice restaurants. French, Italian, Mederteranian. 3 days a week there are big buffets, no dress-up required. In all, you don't have to have fancy clothes, just not bathing suits for the higher end restaurants. (Hank at the Venetian Restaurant was awesome. He greeted us with a great smile, sat us down and really made us feel at home.) The breakfast buffet was huge and everyone ate well. The returning guest dinner had the most colossal shrimp we have ever eaten. Alex J. was the server and he kept our table engaged and kept everyone s drinks filled. He recommended the Children s desert over the adults, and it was the best recommendation. Cudoos.

The Drinks: Here is one thing they do not skimp on. Everywhere you turn you can get a drink. The kids can get soft drinks, non-alcoholic drinks, and milkshakes. There are blue tubs of bottled water near the beach. I counted 11 different brands of whiskey at every bar. Wine and beer galore. If you can think of something to drink, you will get it. We stopped in a bar to grab a drink and the host Shawna really took care of us. It is true, that everyone in Jamaica is family. She personified that belief. We made it a priority to go say goodbye before we left. I still don t know why Red Stripe beer is not free back in Texas. It is at Beaches.

The Activities: If you are expecting water activities, then this is the place. The kids loved the pool and the water slides. There was water volleyball and a swim up bar. There were plenty of chairs, they just get marked by people with towels early in the morning. It s not a problem as we were all over the place all day. The beach is clean and big enough. There is a separate smaller beach on the other side of the dive shop. It was never crowded. The kids loved to snorkel and found shells, crabs, and saw different types of fish. They loved it. Sailing was fun on the Hobie Cats. Livingston took us out and gave us a top of the line sailing instruction. He made sure that we were fully capable of going alone. He went out of his way to make sure that we had the most fun. Respect!

Diving: This was the main reason we pick Sanadals. We went out for 6 dives. Gear included. The dives were to ship wrecks, Reefs, cathedrals. We saw Turtles, Lionfish, Rays, Coral, Fish. You name it. DeMario was the instructor and I have to tell you, there is no one finer. Every dive we felt like we were the only ones there. He took care of us personally. He truly earns his pay and more. We did an extra diving excursion and it was a memory for a lifetime. Thanks to the entire diving staff. Anna made sure that we were always booked for the next dive. Claude took us out as our dive leader. He made sure that we saw all kinds of exciting things. He definitely made us feel safe.

So in conclusion: There is no place in Jamaica that you can go and feel like one big family with the staff. They are Awesome. The facilities are Awesome. In fact everything is irie, man!

It was the BEST. They have a really good drink for kids called the surely temple. They have 2 pools and a water park. They have escursions and we went to a place called Dunn's river. They also have snorkeling too! Everything is prepaid and the kids get unlimited ice cream. The gift shop was a LITTLE expensive but some cool stuff. They also have a kids camp so the parents can do what they want while staff members to whatch them. Great place. Go and get your 10,000 dollars worth

Nice..... for a 30+ year old place. Old but pretty well maintained. Buffet food is about like Golden Corral or other low end buffets in the U.S. but not bad. Beach is pretty but small. Only about 100 yards of beach / swim area. Definitely more of a young family atmosphere and very little for singles or couples for entertainment. Staff very nice and helpful. The Sandals Resort is much nicer and couples / adult oriented.

We had an excellent vacation here. We went the first week in December and the weather was great with little rain. The rooms were clean. They had 4 places to eat at. The buffet was excellent for breakfast and lunch then we went to the restaurant for dinner. All the staff we excellent with kids. We did the excursion to walk up the water falls and that was fun. The only tough part was the long shuttle ride from the airport to the hotel. And no one will except older versions of bills so make sure you don't have old 5s,10s and 20s or no one will take them. The bartenders were great too. The kids really enjoyed the water slides and all the sesame St shows and characters walking around. I highly recommend this place

Great resort to get away. Food was good beach was small but very easy to walk. Wonderful water park the kids like. No room service unless a butler suite but food is easy to find as they have several restaurants. There is a small beach on the other side of the pier for those that was privacy. Riverside Tours and Travel made sure room was close to lobby and easy to get around for older granny. Loved the bannana boat and the many paddle boards available. Also loved the resort was smaller so easy to navigate. Staff was very nice and always helpful. Will take little ones there in a year

It was a beautiful place.. but even though you are not supposed (they wear buttons that say please do not tip) to tip.. the person who brings you to the room expects one. Also bring cash because there are people from the island on property and everytime you walk past them they try to guilt you into buying souvenirs.. and the two workers at the bar by the stage were really rude. Once I tried to ask for a drink and the guy came out from the back and the lady yelled at him to make my drink and stomped out of sight into the back. And neither of them would smile. There were some amazing and wonderful workers there but these two are what I really remember. The views were beautiful though and the room was lovely. It was a very clean resort.

We had a great time! Can not say enough about how wonderful the staff was! Everyone was so nice, had real conversations with everyone from the concierge, entertainment, bar, activity, maintenance, etc staff. The place may seems small bet it isn't, lots to do. To be honest the resort seems older, but don't let that stop you unless you're a prude. It's a great resort.

This is a great resort and we loved everything it had to offer, from the pools to the beach to the water sports. But the best part of the vacation was the staff. Everyone is friendly; everyone says hi or "Ya Mon" when they pass. And the entertainment staff was the best. We felt like we were leaving old friends on the day of our departure. We would love to go back!

Had multiple issues. My first experience with resort was after registering in, I go to the elevator to go to my room. I push the button for my floor and the elevator goes completely BLACK!! This happened multiple times. When i go to plug in my sleep apnea machine there are NO VISIBLE outlets in the room. I had to go to the front desk 5 times to ask for an extension cord. This took almost 2 hours, I kept being informed that they're working on it. The reception area is a tripping hazard!!!! The area around the reception area is on about 2 inches above the the reception area itself. If you're aware of this you may trip over it. The general staff is excellent, unfortunately the same can't be said about the management staff. I would never go there again

This is the place to go if you have children or don't mind being around children. The food is great (many different options) and the staff are always friendly. The walkout balconies are a nice touch as well. Lots of beach and water park activities.

I probably would have given this three and a half ...

I probably would have given this three and a half stars if that was an option. But three stars was too low.
We went here with our children 7, 8, and 10, and another family with a nine-year-old during the first week of November.

The good:

1. The staff was absolutely phenomenal. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and genuinely seemed to want to do everything possible to make our trip as fantastic as possible. The bartenders, the restaurant staff, and the beach staff in charge of lifeguarding and ocean activities were particularly good.

2. There were three separate pool areas as well as the beach and none of them seemed overly crowded most of the time. There were plenty of activities and while you had to sign up early for some of them it was easy enough so we tried snorkeling multiple times, banana boat rides, and sail boating. The kids also loved the Xbox room, obviously.

3. The food. While the waits for entrees at the restaurants were ridiculously long, even when the restaurants were not crowded, the food itself was particularly good and better than I expected. The buffets had freshly-prepared and delicious foods, the salad bars were well-stocked, and the restaurant staff was accommodating to our vegan diet. They made several freshly-prepared items specifically for us when there were not sufficient things available on the regular menu. They also had a separate vegan menu which we were allowed to review in advance and then make selections even before arriving at the restaurants.

3. Accomodations. We stayed in a concierge King Veranda Suite in the "Carribean" portion of the facility which is basically the main building. It was really only one room but it was more than sufficient for our family of five. There was a sleeper couch with a pull out trundle and they brought in a rollaway bed so each of the three children had a separate bed. My wife and I had the king bed. The rooms were clean and well-maintained.

The bad:

1. Off-site excursions were ridiculously high-priced and were inflexible with regard to scheduling. I highly recommend contacting a local tour guide to pick you up at the facility which we did one day to go to Blue Hole. But the other excursion to Mystic Mountain booked through the resort was somewhat of a hassle and overpriced.

2. The resort is touted as luxury high-end but the property is starting to show some wear. While it seems the staff is trying their best to keep everything up you can just tell it is not fresh and new.

3. The kids club for very small children seemed fine but for older kids it was very boring and low energy. There were barely any kids there which I assume is the product of the fact that it just did not seem like a lot of fun.

4. They overbooked special events. On our last night there, there were three weddings + a rehearsal dinner for a wedding the next day. As a result multiple portions of the facility were closed off to the rest of the guests. And we could not even retreat to our room to relax that night. There was a wedding with obnoxiously loud music right outside of our door that went almost to midnight. And on the other side there was another wedding we could hear from our balcony. It was just too much for one day. Left a bitter taste.

Dillon b is the best waiter you will have he works a Bayside in the morning personally I would always request Dillon because he cares about the coustomers and their concerns. And their entertainment and social media director tah-ja was the best part of our select dinner on Tuesday and when we left he actually seeker us out to give us a hug and say goodbye.

I've been to several all-inclusive resorts and this is by far the worst. The food is terrible (both the buffets and the restaurants). For the most part, the staff are friendly but they are very pushy about drinking alcohol and need to learn the time and place when "jokes" are appropriate. (Beaches must train them to use 'Hey! You can't be doing that' as the best joke to tell Americans at all times.) The pool and beach area are also pretty dirty.

Great staff and service......so much fun for the kids, only issue is meals. Having to time meals to when restaurants are open is annoying, plus some closed causing wait for a table. Overall the staff make it an amazing trip....relaxing for parents, exhilarating for the kids!

When I hear the word Sandals I expected quality and to be treated to the highest. Our vacation was anything but to say the least. The service of the employees was about 10% good and 90% rude. The food quality is about like going to a school cafeteria besides the 3 nice nightly restaurants. The only elevator 4 flights down kept breaking and having back issues I would not advise staying on the lower levels so beware. We are huge football fans and when we asked if they could change the channel at the pool bar the bartender said the batteries were out in the control they said they would have to get some. Three hours later and several times asking they said we are still waiting so we had to go up to main bar. We also had Butler service which we never got as well as top shelf liquor in room only to be told we couldn't get it only bottom shelf. We were there for a wedding with about 40 of us and other people had worst experiences than we did. Almost everyone had their key cards disable 5+ times during their trip and construction going on next to their rooms at 8am. The brochure did not match what we had purchased and will likely never return while letting people we know as well never to visit. We could have dealt with a few things but it was always something every day, vacation should be relaxing not complaining especially the horrible service. What's bad is that I could go on and on but it not worth it anymore.

I recently got married here and it was simply perfection. Our wedding planner Jodian Francis went above and beyond to make sure our special day was everything we expected and more, she truly made our dreams and vision come to life. The days leading up to the wedding and the day of were full of relaxation and no stress thanks to her & her team! Our families also traveled with us and we all had a blast, going down the water slides, having drinks, hanging out in the pool and laying out by the beautiful beach. The resort itself needs some TLC and the food was decent, I'm not sure about 5 stars, in my opinion you get 5 star dining at Sandals resorts. Overall, we enjoyed this resort, and had an unforgettable time. We will definitely love to go back to Beaches!!

The ultimate all inclusive family vacation resort. I would like to give Beaches Ocho Rios 4.5 stars. I usually only give places that were above and beyond my expectations 5 stars, but at the same time this resort deserves more than a 4 stars "liked it" rating.

Well, after all it is a resort. If you want real local experiences and feel. Your not going to fund it hiding behind resort walls. And the prices, the locals are really getting screwed.. besides the fear tactics resorts use to keep ppl inside. If you wa t a real experience then venture outside the comfort zone of resorts. Beaches is ok, but if you venture out.. right across the street is a decent gathering spot of locals and tourists. Thought the streets are a little ghetto looking.. what's the point of having a vacation if your gonna sit in.resort. you can do that at home and still find foreigners to serve you. Not sure how you can say you been to Jamaica when you never left the resort. As the locals call tourists. Aristocrats living a fake half life dream inside a resort a real fake vacation and say you've been somewhere. You haven't been anywhere.

Let s start with the pros: there s plenty to do for kids during the day. The water slides were a hit with my younger siblings. We all had fun playing air hockey at night and my brother particularly liked the Xbox room. The food was good. I enjoyed the Italian and French places most. Check in process was pretty easy and quick and done on an iPad. The beach has fun activities to do during the day like the banana boat, glass bottom boat, and kayaks. Drink are a plenty and the wait staff are kind and happy to bring you whatever while you are pool or beach side.

The cons: first, this is a 2 hour bus ride from Montego Bay airport. TripAdvisor says there s a airport right around the corner, and while that s true, that s only for smaller planes - not large international flights. Two days in a row I came back to my room without it being cleaned. Housekeeping told me that they clean until 5. I understand that, but I wanted to come back and relax before getting ready for dinner and if they are cleaning until 5, that makes it difficult. Both days, I had been out of my room since 9 am.

Everything is outdated. Furniture inside and outside showed a lot of signs of wear. The air conditioning made a lot of noise coming on and turning off. Our room always had a weird smell in it. At first we thought it was cleaning solution, but it always lingered. Our shower showed signs of the previous guest and the sink in our bathroom was clogged and remained that way.

Honestly, I ve stayed at better resorts with my family in Jamaica.

Great time, great food, very friendly and helpful employees.
You are not allowed to tip on property but you can give gifts, we brought 7 bags of hersheys mixed miniatures for our week stay and left them in a bowl in our room for the housekeeping and that is allowed and very appreciated by them.
Our room was right beside this little bar and Andrew, the bartender there kept our drinks filled.
Beaches is the Family friendly version of Sandals resorts so they have things all day for children of all ages to do

This family-friendly all-inclusive property will leave you speechless. If you want a vacation without leaving the children this is your best option, a hotel with nana included, activities for children, Sesamo square characters that will keep your children simply occupied. If mom and dad like golf, they can go in the morning and return at noon, and they will guarantee the best care for your kids because the hotel has certified nannies in England. Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere and a movie staff. The best family holidays have beaches resort.

First of all everyone was very friendly. On that note they couldn t manage to get our luggage to the right rooms. Or understand that we had three people in our room which came in and are leaving on different flights. Even when repeatedly told of the issues they couldn t fix the problems. Just a lot of excuses. Several issues with the wedding planner also. She never informed the guess of what was going on. Again even we told of the problem. Food was good.

So far my stay sucks. Today is day 1 hopefully tomorrow on my bday it gets better. Im writing this at 6:36pm i landed at 145pm so yea lets say their free ride to the hotel didn't want to drive us to the reort because his van wasn't full so instead lets let human beings sit inside a hot ban hoping more people will show up which never did. So we paid $130 for a can ride which im still waiting for the manager to call me after they told me the manager would come talk to me which they haven't. Needless to say the 8 restaurants they advertise have minimal servica and their not always open so tou never know what your gonna get. The buffet is a joke you get to pick 5 entrees the rest is old salad that has been sitting there for days. I feel like i got ripped off coming here. My bdays gonna suck tomorrow and their laughing all the way to the bank with the 7k they took. All set after 3 hours of being here
