The school is a little over rated and only cares about money. Some of the instructors (no, they are not teachers) are not very good. BCIT froze my account because I owed less than $5. When I called, I was told I was lucky I wasn't dropped from the course for this. The only reason I owed any money is because they cancelled a class I was enrolled in and the price went up for the next semester. BCIT payment policy is you have to pay them immediately but they take there sweet ass time (4 to 5 weeks) to refund you your money. The My BCIT website is confusing and what kind of a school would drop you without notifying you.
I had to wait up to five weeks to get my final grades even though all four of my instructors said it would be three weeks. No grades were posted in three weeks.

I received my degree at BCIT and I am proud to have survived it! This is a great school that is very focused on teaching and practical learning. It is extremely intense, and it was fantastic preparation for my career.

Decent gym with stupid policies designed to extract money out of you. In the past 6 month I forgot my membership card twice. The second time it happened I was told "You now have to pay the $8 drop in fee because our computer shows you've used up one time grace". People forget cards, it happens all the time! Any other community center would let me in but not these guys, no sir, they have a stupid policy they have to implement! I've also been approached by staff member who threatened to kick me out for wearing jeans and all is fine except for the way he approached me and the tone of voice he used "Uhhhhh hey bud we might have to ask you to leave because we have a strict policy against wearing jeans". I thought staff members have to be friendly not passive aggressive. And don't bother showing up between 2 and 4pm as this place is a jungle! Overall I wouldn't recommend this gym and if you ask me why I go, my answer is simple : I paid $20 000 in tuition and this gym membership is "free".... And the owner that replied can f$&k right off with his thank you and his smiley face

My spouse is currently attending BCIT in accounting. She is disappointed with the quality of the average lecture. There is low clarity of instruction, and they use an online Pearson grading system which is multiple choice "canned response" not leading to real learning. They take attandence and fail those who don't attend - even if lectures don't provide value. Some lecturers do not align their tests with what they teach - resulting in a horrible experience for hard working students who can't find success.

All in all, I find the "they make you work hard - it's worth it" slogan really should be substituted with "a bunch of busy work" - at least for the accounting program.

Gym is pretty small but it does have everything you need. Staff here is friendly and welcoming. Prices are a bit expensive.

This gym gets crowded really easily and all machines will be taken.

I was interested in taking the graphic design class, but due to the unprofessional and rude behaviour of the staff, I've applied to a different school.

I wanted to know more information on the course, so had been in touch with Paul, the program head and instructor. Not only did he miss phone calls we had scheduled, when I took 3 buses to show up to a meeting we had arranged, I was told he had already gone home. When I emailed him to let him know I had showed up, he didn't even bother to reply.

Don't waste your time and/or money on this school. They obviously do not care about their students.

Classes and teachers are top notch but the administration hasn't got a clue. To be a receivables rep you should have some logic and the ablility to do simple math. The woman we dealt with clearly had neither, was rude and not very responsive. The admin team enrolled my husband for the year he's already taken and achieved a high standing in, while he was at work (he's an apprenticeship program student) and then penalized us for their mistake! Took grocery money off our family table and then said 'well if you knew it was a mistake....' no professionalism here, no taking responsibility for the mistakes they made...
I'm disappointed they would choose this route and do this to a family that is already facing the hardship of student loans and EI.

Great School! Their commitment to practicals is the one thing that makes it stand out from a university. On the down side i couldn't complete my degree in Mechanical Engineering due to circumstances surrounding the degree program at the time (circa 2008). So i had to settle for a diploma.

Edit
I eventually got a degree in software engineering as well and I have no regrets

I did my business diploma here and finished off my bachelor's degree. It changed my life for the better. Cool teachers, cool students and I still have many friends from my time. It was hard work, but fun and prepared me for the work force. Highly recommended!

I took 2 courses at BCIT. I believe they were worth it and I am planning to take more courses. Best thing is the practical approach to the courses rather keeping material to a theoretical level.

The Radio Arts and Entertainment program is the best in Canada! You go in a communications padawan and come out a Jedi Radio master! And aside from classes, you run a real, live radio station your second year. It doesn't get any better than that! The instructors are amazing too. If you want to learn to be a broadcaster, than look no further. What are you waiting for??? Apply already!!!

Nice, clean gym. Good setup with the squat racks (one of the best setups out of most of the gyms in this city that I've been to). New equipment. Nice staff. The problem is, the staff seem to discourage people from training to their fullest potential. They don't allow you to lift heavy weights, as it is "noisey" and could "damage" the floor or equipment. If you're looking to make serious gains, then this is NOT the place for you. If you just want to workout casually and never get serious results, then this place might work for you. One other drawback is that there is only one flat barbell bench press station, no bumper plates, and no olympic platform, although most gyms don't have the olympic platform anyway.

Be careful when/if you call, dont trust what they say on the phone. Make sure you double check whatever you're asking about. My first time calling i tried asking when to apply for part-time courses( I called in February asking about registration times for September classes). The lady told me they only open part-time courses 1-2 weeks before the start date of the class. Thanks to that when i tried applying all classes were full and i had to miss my first semester. Secondly I had to call again because I wanted to switch my registration from one class to a different one (before classes had started and solemnly just to change professors). I called in the morning and the lady I talked to was pissed off already, when I couldnt figure out what to do steps-wise for this process. She got frustrated and didnt know what to tell me and hung up mid convo. Lol so I just waited an hour and called back to get someone else to talk to. Anyways there were a few other very unhelpful events that happened when i called bcit but minor.
Some of the teachers are great, a few dont really have any idea what theyre doing (One example is I had a teacher who was ia writer her whole life but teaching our Essentials of Marketing class). Even had one teacher who had stolen all her power point, info, lectures, etc. from a different teacher so that was awkward because I attended his class also.
If you want to save money go here, but do your own research on the classes/teachers and be extremely careful with the phone receptionists because theyre not always the best at being helpful or giving u correct info. I recommend going on rate your prof cause a lot of students (me included) end up with unqualified teachers but i found using the rate my prof site that was helpful.
