One of the ugliest buildings, but as you must say it is in the heart of Sydney, it is convenient location to be at for University students, giving a great learning curve with its advanced technology within the engineering and science departments. A place that many people like to hang out and enjoy studying together. As it is convenient place to work together without being too far away from anything really.

Thanks for a great semester abroad! I would definitely recommend this university to other international students. The student center, administration worked smoothly which is something I am not used to at Danish universities.

As graduate and current post grade student of UTS. I can attest this university does not care about the students. They consistently enrol too many students for the subjects and facilities they offer. And seeking assistance from admin staff is near enough impossible when asking more than a simple question. The only saving grace they have (in my faculty at least) is the teaching staff are fabulous. If you are lucky enough to get a good set.

Went there for visiting a friend for one day.
Just feel some stuff can be really rude towards student. (Maybe me and my friend are Asian?) towards that attitude I want to ask a rude question:where do you think ur salary come from?
Overall feel the school facility is really good and most stuff on Studnet welcoming day are really helpful and friendly.

I personally hate this university. The only thing worth mentioning is the location, it's right in the city. The rooms are crammed, tiny, really small hallways, and a very dated decor. Parking is expensive, and getting to the city by car is a chore. I would never study an undergraduate or post graduate degree here, the logistics and quality aspects of this university are greatly lacking.

University of Technology Sydney is one of the best universities of Australia. You can find a lot of courses there, especially for who want to work with technology. The professors are very competent and you can be prepared more efficient to get a good job. I really enjoy study there.

Mr Gorrick represented me in a Court case. I was one of his former clients. I heard he is lecturing at this university. He did a lousy job for me. He gave me bad legal advice, and he told things to the judge presiding that were later proven by a handwriting expert to be wrong. He knows about the mistakes he made. Do I get an apology from him? Of course not.

They don't answer students questions. I waited for 17mins for someone to pick up, while the operators constantly said "You're first in the queue. I have rung 5 different Uni's and none have done this.. the operators answer asap.

I graduated in IT. At my time, there was final exam, to be able to pass subject, students must pass final exam. Fail(x) is marked as fail. now they removed that roles which are not fair at all. shame on them, Teachers are aggressive, application programming and data structure algorithms were terrible. Network essential was helpless, most teachers are lazy, they want to fail students in order to get more pay.
On my graduate ceremony, I saw one student refused to stand for national althem as he walked out but later on he came back to get certificate.
Professional practice was hopeless, it is in name but they can not help nothing to find job. I have to find my self, at the end I dropped that subject in order to graduate quick.
My last words are thanks to respecting teachers who are kind but very few numbers.

Continuing my postgrad study at the UTS GSB is one of the best decisions that I have ever made, having previously completed my undergrad study from UQ. The lecturers were brilliant, warm, always encourage their students to speak up their minds and participate in every class session, and most importantly most of them have proven track record that they have excelled in the real world from their work experiences either both in private sector (even from leading global companies) and government sector. So, the experiences that they shared in the classroom were really insightful for students and also helped develop students critical thinking in solving case studies given. The teaching & learning facilities were great and the course materials were excellent. Graduated in year 2008 and I am pleased to see the progress that this university continues to make in its global academic reputation (academic rankings world wide) and also the continuous developments & advancements of its campuses.

Even though I spent eight years here and achieved ...

Even though I spent eight years here and achieved Ds and HDs for my masters degree and an award for being the best student in final year of my bachelor degree I regret every moment I spent here. Here's why:

- They have crap lecturers rewriting the subjects in a way that they have no real world industry application (I am still trying to find how to use 10 out of the 12 subjects I did for my Masters in my IT job);
- Once I was in hospital with an infection so severe that I almost DIED. I was incapacitated for weeks after surviving it. UTS did everything they could to try and prevent me from withdrawing from a subject without academic or financial penalty even with medical documents from the hospital, the doctor and a list of medications I had to be on to prevent the infection from reoccurring. It was only until they got a letter from my husband's boss begging for leniency (I had never met my husband's boss so it was really kind of him to speak up for me) that changed the minds at UTS. UTS fails on student support and understanding;
- If you don't do the work for incompetent students then you get marked down; and

The only reason I have a job and am very successful at what I do right now is because I taught myself the things I actually needed to know in IT during my rare moments of spare time. If I relied solely on what UTS had 'taught' me then I would be unemployed or severely incompetent at my job.

So, if you're only looking for a plaque with your name on it to show off to your parents or are in need of a Student Visa to get in Australia then go to UTS. They let just about anyone in and everyone gets a degree - including dumbs**** - which is why they can afford the recent renovations. Otherwise, forget UTS and study in a country where they actually have standards in education as opposed in an overwhelming interest in their wallets.

UTS may be a top university in Australia, but it is nothing compared to what's on offer in the rest of the developed world.

FYI - I am a mixed race, multilingual Australian so I am not being a racist in this post. This is a brief recollection of my experiences at this university for which I did the best I could in putting up with this arrogance, stupidity and sheer laziness from both lecturers and students.

Third best uni in Sydney, in my opinion (after USYD an UNSW). Really well located and offers good support for students. Also more focused in the practical side of science and technology, more suitable for those smart, dedicated, but theory-averse.

Department of Information technology has many unexpereience teachers and tutors. When I asked them for help they were agressive. Upass was useless. 5 years ago, they designed zero(0) mark gave to students if they found SPOOF in plate for Java. Networking gave 0 mark for subnet calculations when it was confusing and teacher did not taught well in class. Final exam was not much relate to assignment. If the rate is 0 I would give 0 out of 5.
UTS has to change way of teacing or change Top CEO of IT department. wasted my money and time. It is a trap!!!!!!

I am UTS Alumni, in the speech I remember them saying you are uts alumni you will always be welcome here and will always be students of uts. When I went there recently I didnt feel like Alumni I felt like a stranger. Refused to let me in, use the bathrooms or even take a gander at the new building. When I said I am UTS Alumni the response I got was yeah that doesnt matter. All we are is dollar signs to uts. Sad, very sad.

I did my Bachelor degree in Law and IT. One of the best thing that has ever happened to me. The subjects are really practical if you are into the programming stream in IT you get to do a lot of Games :). The law faculty has the best lecturers who are Barristers. This gives you a chance to actually meet people in your field of interest who will be able to mentor you through. There are number of student led societies that would give you a chance to meet lie minded people. Would Highly recommend!

This uni is a big fat joke. I'm with UNSW but am tempted to transfer over for a course that fits my interest better. At first, the admission requirements did not explicitly state that I needed distinctions for this and that or my sample of work had to be of particular preference. It ended up becoming a wild goose chase where they demanded one thing after another. Felt like third world bureaucracy! Wasted my two months applying and the worst thing was they didnt even bother reading through the freaking application, instead they emailed me twice, weeks apart, to say that I needed to submit one thing after another. I suggest to go somewhere better, Usyd for example.

No I'm not one of those people who can't graduate from UNSW and are trying to downgrade, I finished it with five distinctions and three credits for my first year. No way in hell I'm forking out my hard earned money for people that can barely run a course. And yes the whole situation made me realise how wonderful and attentive UNSW is, both staff and academics.

Sayonara!

I attended this university a few years ago and studied 'bachelor of arts in architecture'. After having a conversation with a friend of mine, I've decided to leave a review based on my experience.

My experience at this university wasn't a good one.

During the time I was studying, my mother unfortunately suffered a severe grade 4 aneurysm which left her in a coma for 2 weeks and in hospital recovery for 4 months.

During this hard and challenging time, I spoke to the person in charge of the course regarding the issue and at the time they told me that they were happy for me to juggle my studies along with visiting my mother in hospital when she wasn't doing well or when the doctors needed me.

Unfortunately this wasn't the case.

Even after mentioning the situation to my tutors, there was no sympathy what so ever throughout the entire ordeal.

The lack of help during that troubled time left me feeling anxious and even depressed as I was constantly punished for leaving tutorials early or missing one every few weeks(even though id have the work done on time)

I'd like to mention Stephen Collier in specific as he was constantly rude and nasty to me throughout the process.

He even failed me on my final assignment weighing 50% of the subject.

Weeks later my friends informed me that the assignment he failed me on ended up being chosen to be in the uts design yearbook due to the quality of the work I submitted. Further highlighting the bad treatment I received from this uni and the lack of understanding they have to students going though hard times.

I ended up leaving the course all together due to the stress and lack of help from them.

I wouldn't recommend this uni as they lack morals and are emotionless to deal with.

You'd be better off attending a university like Notre Dame where the tutors and lecturers actually care about the welfare and mental well being of their students.

I'm disappointed in what I went through at this uni and although it has taken a few years to leave this review, I think it's important to let people know that they care about nothing but taking your money.

Peter suciu- uts sucks
