Still an invaluable and unique little gem in BBC's vast newsgathering set up, despite more than a decade of brutal cuts & downsizing. BBC Monitoring Service even lost its home of several decades in Caversham Park, near Reading last year and moved to the new broadcasting house in central London. Still remains a unique gem, albeit much smaller and with a diluted identify. Here are some pictures of the iconic Caversham Park.

The name of BIAFRA is written in the BBC house pavement, an artwork which was created by Canadian-born artist and architect Mark Pimlott. At the heart of BBC Broadcasting House, World reflects the global dimension of the BBC s broadcasting and consists of over 750 stone flags inscribed with place names from around the world, as well as those from history which the BIAFRA is amongst them . The artwork is enhanced by elegant steel lines of longitude and latitude.

Brilliant visit to a live recording of a radio show. Free tickets from the BBC website, well worth the journey from the Midlands. What a wonderful experience it was. Not only did we get to see a favourite author, Neil Gaiman, but also his incredible guests, among who was Peter Capaldi. What a treat!
